Best Cabin Camping near Seven Hills, OH

Cabin accommodations in northeastern Ohio provide several options within a 30-mile radius of Seven Hills. Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA offers both standard and deluxe cabin rentals with electricity, beds, and basic furniture. The cabins at Woodside Lake Park include sleeping platforms, electrical outlets, and small refrigerators, while some feature private bathrooms. A recent review noted, "Family rented a cabin and it was disgusting. Dirty furniture-dishes-run down. Toilet looked like someone died in it." Despite some negative experiences, West Branch State Park Campground provides more rustic cabin options with minimal amenities but scenic locations near hiking trails.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. KOA cabins typically include furniture, climate control, and proximity to shower facilities, though amenities vary by price point. Most cabin sites require advance reservations, especially during summer months from May through October. Pet policies differ significantly between locations – Streetsboro KOA allows pets in designated cabins for an additional fee, while West Branch State Park prohibits pets in their cabin units. Penitentiary Glen Reservation offers limited cabin camping with more primitive accommodations but unique natural surroundings.

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Basic cooking facilities vary from microwave ovens in deluxe units to outdoor fire rings at more rustic sites. Refrigerators are standard in KOA cabins but not guaranteed at state park facilities. On-site camp stores at Streetsboro KOA and American Wilderness Campground provide essential supplies, firewood, and some grocery items. Visitors staying at more remote cabins should plan to bring all necessary provisions. Water and electric hookups are available at most cabin sites, though primitive options may have access only to communal water sources.

    West Branch State Park Campground

Well kept campground with access to beach and dock

Each campsite in on a leveled cement pad and comes with a fire ring a picnic table. There is plenty of room around your site and you don't feel crowded. Most sites offer nice tree coverage for shade. The restrooms and showers are very clean and well taken care of. There is also a laundry facility and sink outside each one for washing dishes and water fountains throughout the park. There is a nice beachfront for swimming and then a dock that be reached from outside the park. A beautiful lake for kayaking or boating. The store has most camping needs in it and once a week they host an ice cream social. Has a very nice playground and a sand volleyball court. There are some hiking trails, but nothing extensive.

    Roundup Lake RV Resort

Great Lively Place with lots of Amenities

Starting off, everyone from the employees to the other campers were super friendly! My boyfriend and I rented The Park Model Cabin which was sort of a half trailer with a full bathroom and full kitchen. The bed was the only detractor of our trip, as it was mostly springs. We brought our air mattress in for the second night and slept much better. The themed weekends throughout the season are fun and festive and there are a lot of activities to do and participate!

    West Branch State Park Campground

    Wooded Waterside Sites

Make reservations! (6 months in advance).  Waterside sites fill up quickly! Check in is very easy as you pass the camp store on your way in. All campsites have a fire ring and picnic table.  West Branch has private, spacious, shady sites. We can launch our kayaks right from our campsite. The shower house and bathrooms are large and clean. There is even a book exchange shelf at the shower house in case of rainy days. The park office loans games and sports equipment to campers. Washers and dryers are also at the shower house. There is an outside sink to wash up dishes. Bring your boat or kayak. There are many inlets to explore or fish. There is a small beach at the campground but a larger one on the other side of the lake. There is a boat launch at the campground.  There are playgrounds for the children. An ice cream social is held on Saturday evenings that my children always love to attend. There is a newer dog park near the intersection of Rock Spring  and Esworthy roads. There are many scenic hiking trails at West Branch. Bridal trails are located on Esworthy Rd. West Branch is our favorite campground and we make sure to visit every year.

    Mosquito Lake State Park Campground

    Great State Park Campground

We just got back from our first trip to Mosquito Lake State Park Campground. All in all, it was a great experience.

We stayed in site 67, which is a waterfront site, with electric. The water is about 25 yards from the pad, but is visible from the entire site. The site was spacious, but not as private as some of the others. There is some woods between this site and the sites on either side, but other sites are visible. The fire pits and picnic tables were staggered, so it created some distance to make it feel more private.

The campground as a whole, was very quiet. We stayed from Wednesday to Friday. The group next to us seemed a little rowdy when we first pulled in, but by 10:00 there was no noise anywhere near us.

Most sites seemed pretty level from side to side, but where we were, several had a slope from front to back. Away from the waterfront, most sites looked pretty level. The amount of space between sites varied from site to site. Some sites had woods on both sides, while others were pretty open. Some had nice large grassy areas, others were much smaller. Sites from 214-224 are in a cul de sac and are water front, but they were pretty close together with very little privacy between sites, if any. They are very close to the water though.

There are bathrooms and water scatter about, but from what I saw there was only 1 shower house.

Wal-mart and other shopping and restaurants were about 3 miles away. Park was easy to get to, only one turn for us off the highway. Lake was great for kayaking and paddleboarding. Very nice dog park in a different part of the park. There is a boat launch accessible from inside the campground.

Dump station has 2 lanes which was nice when checking out. Fresh water fill up was also located near the dump station.

    Cabins could be better

The bunk beds have very thin rv style bunk bed mattresses. And the master bed mattress was a weak memory foam. Needs to invest in better mattresses.

    KOA Lake Milton Berlin Lake

    Cabin

Last August rented Cabin. It was beautiful and very clean. The owners were great and very helpful. !! Cabins are a little high in price. No WiFi,. KOA should lower the prices due to that. Activities are great keeps the kids interested. KOA should have on all camping sites Life Guard if there is water sports involved.Game room was nice and clean.Change machine needs to stay stocked.Fishing lake was great. I think with full swing in Season they should offer more activities for adults too.Camp Store should be more orangized. Bathhouse was very clean!.Trash was picked up every day and the Park very clean.! We have booked another Cabin for May 2021. They have a limited rental on Life jacket s. Bring ur own.!

    Findley State Park Campground

    Organized Group Site 2

It was difficult to find pictures or reviews of the Findlay group sites. It honestly seemed to me that they didn't exist, so I thought I'd do the service of taking some pictures.

The group sites are away from the main campsites, so you should have plenty of space for your group to set up and enough distance between them to not disturb the peace if you have a large group. OGA2 is heavily forested, I'm not sure about OGA1. There are plenty of trees so both hammock and tent campers should be accommodated. The fire pit is large and there are 4 picnic tables.

The campsite is about 75 yards from the parking area, and there is a vault toilet right before the parking area.

    West Branch State Park Campground

    Love the Lake!

This state park has a lot to offer with the highlight being a large 2,650-lake that appeals to fishermen, boaters, and swimmers. The park is over 5,000 acres and not only has camping but hiking, volleyball, fishing, playgrounds, picnicking, hunting, horseback riding, and more.

The campground is divided into three loops with nearly 200 sites. Campsites include those with full hook-up (50 amp), electric only (50 amp), and some with no electric. This campground is suitable for everything from large RVs to tents. Sites and roads are paved and each site has a picnic table and fire pit. In loops where there is no water directly at the site, water spigots are scattered throughout. The restroom/bathhouses in our loop were really nice, modern, clean, and had laundry facilities which is a real plus at a state park campground. Campsites can be reserved online up to six months in advance. Since we were here in April, the campground was practically empty and getting a site was no problem. But, if you want one of the 29 full hook-up sites in the summer, you better book early.

We really enjoyed the hiking trails and being able to leave our campsite and be right on the trails. There are approximately 12 miles of hiking trails and an additional 20 miles that are open to horses and snowmobiles. (Be aware that hunting is permitted in certain areas.)

The park is about 15 miles from Cuyahoga Valley National Park which is a fantastic place to explore with a lot going on for the whole family! If you are interested in football, the National Football Hall of Fame is just down the road in Canton. The town of Hudson has a pretty, historic downtown with a fun old soda fountain.

We would definitely stay at this campground again. It was a perfect place to stay while visiting family in the nearby town of Hudson. Loved having a paved site with full hook-ups especially since there was a lot of rain while we were there. The lake was perfect for kayaking and had we been able to stay longer we would have spent more time on the water.

Guide to Seven Hills

Cabin accommodations near Seven Hills, Ohio range from rustic to deluxe with varied amenities across several parks within a 30-mile radius. The area sits within the glaciated Allegheny Plateau with elevations between 850-1,200 feet, creating diverse terrain for cabin sites. Winter temperatures often drop below freezing from December through February, making cabin camping a popular alternative to tent camping during colder months.

What to do

Water activities at American Wilderness Campground: The campground features a swimming beach with inflatable water attractions and boat rentals. "We loved the beach and the fun we have had this is our favorite place to camp... they have great amenities are close to stores just incase you forget anything," notes Mallory N. The beach area includes water sports games and fishing opportunities.

Hiking at West Branch State Park: Located 30 miles from Seven Hills, this park offers multiple hiking trails through diverse terrain. "There are many scenic hiking trails at West Branch," according to Alisa G. The trails connect to the campground areas and provide access to the lake for fishing and exploration.

Fishing at Maple Lakes Campground: Several fishing lakes with benches make this a relaxing spot to cast a line. "Sunsets over the lakes are beautiful," reports Penny G. The campground doesn't charge additional fees for dogs, allowing pet owners to enjoy fishing with their companions.

Mini golf and recreation at Countryside Campground: "The small putt putt course was still open for kids to play. Playground was a hit for our 8yr and under kids," says Joe F. A short walk leads to Mogadore Reservoir for additional fishing opportunities.

What campers like

Clean facilities at Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA: Campers consistently mention the clean facilities at this KOA location. "Very clean and well maintained. KOA Bath house trailer was very clean, easy to utilize the outdoor kitchen," writes Heidi C. The campground offers cabin options with varying levels of amenities.

Family activities at American Wilderness Campground: "Nice clean serene park with absolutely stunning beach views at sunset. Also the park has older shower and bathrooms however there always clean and well taken care of every few hours staff cleaning!" notes Andrew V. The campground offers planned activities throughout the season.

Lake access at Roundup Lake RV Resort: "Campsites surround a sizable lake which boasts inflatables as well as enough room for self-propelled water crafts (i.e. kayaks, paddleboards, etc)," states Brandy Q. The lake provides a focal point for recreation during warmer months.

What you should know

Reservation timing for Findley State Park: "If you're planning a holiday weekend you need to book 6 months in advance," advises Jeffrey L. The campground stays booked throughout much of the season due to its popularity.

Site conditions at Countryside Campground: "Lots are pretty tight in that area. Advice - get there early or you'll have many vehicles and campers to watch for as you back in!" warns Joe F. Arriving early helps with navigating the tighter spaces in certain camping sections.

Water quality considerations at Woodside Lake Park: Some visitors report issues with well water quality in certain sections of the park. Water filtration may be needed depending on site location. The park offers both cabin and RV camping options.

Seasonal closures: Most cabin facilities in the area operate from April/May through October. West Branch State Park remains open year-round but with limited winter services. Swimming areas typically close after Labor Day regardless of temperature.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: "The playground was a hit for our 8yr and under kids," reports Joe F. from Countryside Campground. The campground also features a dog park and recreation hall for family activities during inclement weather.

Swimming options at American Wilderness: "We loved the fishing available here we also had the kids they enjoyed the arcade and gem mining," mentions Jessica J. The swimming area includes water features designed specifically for children.

Themed weekends: "The themed weekends throughout the season are fun and festive and there are a lot of activities to do and participate!" notes Evangelyne D. about Roundup Lake RV Resort. Activities often include crafts and seasonal celebrations like Halloween trick-or-treating.

Cabin selection for families: Reserve deluxe cabins with bathrooms for easier family stays, especially with small children. Basic cabins typically require bringing bedding and walking to bathroom facilities, which can be challenging with young children at night.

RV tips

Site selection at West Branch State Park: "We were only off 2 inches side to side but front to back we had to lower the front 15 inches," explains Andrea F. Bring adequate leveling equipment as many sites have slopes, particularly front to back.

Hookup availability: Most cabin-focused campgrounds also offer RV sites with water and electric hookups. Streetsboro KOA and American Wilderness Campground provide full hookups including sewer connections at premium sites.

Pull-through options: "Sites were a tad small but nice and long. Even with the sites close together it was quiet and peaceful," reports Kathryn P. about Countryside Campground. Pull-through sites simplify arrival and departure with larger rigs.

Winter storage: Seasonal sites are available at several campgrounds for those who wish to leave their RV in place. American Wilderness and Roundup Lake have numerous seasonal campers who maintain sites year-round.
