Best Cabin Camping near Fairview Park, OH

Cabin options surrounding the Fairview Park area include both rustic and modern accommodations at several established campgrounds. American Wilderness Campground in Grafton features cabins with electricity and water access, while Findley State Park Campground offers year-round cabin rentals with heating systems suitable for winter camping. Maple Lakes Campground provides cabins with comfortable spacing between sites, offering more privacy than typical campground settings. Both KOA locations—Streetsboro-Cleveland SE and Sandusky Bayshore—maintain cabin rentals with standard amenities including beds, electricity, and nearby restroom facilities. "We had a good experience the place was clean and nice the amenities were great the staff was helpful and the laundry room was clean as well as bathrooms and showers."

Depending on the campground, cabin amenities vary considerably in terms of furnishing level and conveniences. Timber Ridge Campgrounds accepts cash or check only but provides spacious cabin sites with full hookups. West Branch State Park offers cabin and yurt rentals with more rustic amenities, while Kelleys Island State Park Campground features waterfront cabin options from April through October. Most cabins include basic furnishings like beds, tables, and chairs, but specific amenities differ by location. A visitor at Maple Lakes noted, "This may be Heaven on Earth! Kitchen facilities vary widely—some cabins offer only outdoor cooking options with fire rings, while others include small refrigerators and microwaves. Basic supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, and cleaning supplies are typically not provided. Several campgrounds, including American Wilderness and Woodside Lake Park, maintain on-site stores with essential items. During winter months, heated cabins are limited primarily to Findley State Park and Timber Ridge, which operate year-round. Reservations are strongly recommended for all cabin accommodations, particularly during summer weekends when availability becomes limited.

    West Branch State Park Campground

Well kept campground with access to beach and dock

Each campsite in on a leveled cement pad and comes with a fire ring a picnic table. There is plenty of room around your site and you don't feel crowded. Most sites offer nice tree coverage for shade. The restrooms and showers are very clean and well taken care of. There is also a laundry facility and sink outside each one for washing dishes and water fountains throughout the park. There is a nice beachfront for swimming and then a dock that be reached from outside the park. A beautiful lake for kayaking or boating. The store has most camping needs in it and once a week they host an ice cream social. Has a very nice playground and a sand volleyball court. There are some hiking trails, but nothing extensive.

    Roundup Lake RV Resort

Great Lively Place with lots of Amenities

Starting off, everyone from the employees to the other campers were super friendly! My boyfriend and I rented The Park Model Cabin which was sort of a half trailer with a full bathroom and full kitchen. The bed was the only detractor of our trip, as it was mostly springs. We brought our air mattress in for the second night and slept much better. The themed weekends throughout the season are fun and festive and there are a lot of activities to do and participate!

    West Branch State Park Campground

    Wooded Waterside Sites

Make reservations! (6 months in advance).  Waterside sites fill up quickly! Check in is very easy as you pass the camp store on your way in. All campsites have a fire ring and picnic table.  West Branch has private, spacious, shady sites. We can launch our kayaks right from our campsite. The shower house and bathrooms are large and clean. There is even a book exchange shelf at the shower house in case of rainy days. The park office loans games and sports equipment to campers. Washers and dryers are also at the shower house. There is an outside sink to wash up dishes. Bring your boat or kayak. There are many inlets to explore or fish. There is a small beach at the campground but a larger one on the other side of the lake. There is a boat launch at the campground.  There are playgrounds for the children. An ice cream social is held on Saturday evenings that my children always love to attend. There is a newer dog park near the intersection of Rock Spring  and Esworthy roads. There are many scenic hiking trails at West Branch. Bridal trails are located on Esworthy Rd. West Branch is our favorite campground and we make sure to visit every year.

    Camp Sandusky

    Very nice campgrounds!

There is so much structure and order to this campground! The grounds are laid out so nicely! One big circle with cross roads all along the way. You can camp however you'd like too! They have RV sites, tent sites and cabins. All mixed in together so you can travel with all your favorite campers. They do breakfast every morning in the front pavilion for $4.50 (all you can eat pancakes, 1 sausage and coffee) I haven't tried it yet, but its certainly popular. Laundry is open 24 hours a day and in an open area. Not the biggest fan of that due to needing to do laundry in the rain. Bathrooms are clean and standard. Row of toilet stalls and showers in a separate room. They have a stellar playground area, I don't have kids but even I was drawn to wanting to play on it. Very pet friendly around here. Close to downtown, near Cedar Point and all the other attractions over here. They have 2 pools, one being heated. We haven't had a bad rain storm while we're here but you can tell by the ground of our spot its going to be bad and super muddy. All in all this campground is pretty awesome.

    Lighthouse Point at Cedar Point

    Immaculate!

Absolutely beautiful RV park! Gorgeous views of Lake Erie and walking distance to the gate of Cedar Point. Beautiful landscaping and very clean. Staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Good little camp store with reasonable(ish) prices. Too chilly to swim but the pool looks nice. Bathhouses are updated, clean and very nice, but pretty far from about half of the sites. One section has premium sites with upgraded grills and fire pits and crazy good lake views. The regular sites are still well landscaped and each have a grill and an extra long picnic table, but no fire pit. You can bring your own fire pit if your site doesn't have one. No bikes or golf carts allowed on the grounds, but there are Cedar Point buses available day & night as well as rickshaws during the day. Until now I have held Disney World's Fort Wilderness as the penultimate place for camping but they could learn a few things from Cedar Point! We stayed five nights in a pull through sites, #231. I would love to snag a premium site for our next trip but it may be difficult because they allow you to book up five years in advance!

    Kelleys Island State Park Campground

    Vacation island campground

To reach Kelley's Island, you have to take the only ferry. Our round trip roundtrip fare for 3 adults and a vehicle was a around $100. It's around 25 mins across to the island. The island has about 500 full time residents. The road that runs up the center of the island, Division Street, starts a little west of the ferry stop and ends at the State Park. There are some small shops, restaurants, miniature golf, ice cream and fudge shops. There are golf cart rentals and lots of bikers and walkers on the island. You could walk the

The state park was beautiful. Filled with boaters, families and RVers. The bathrooms were clean, the park sold firewood and ice. There was an ice cream shop across from the entrance. Our tent spot was level. Quiet hours started at 11 pm. Unfortunately, people ignored it. I kept hoping the camp host would walk around and say something. Someone's car alarm went off at 5 am and the dogs got up and our day started. I would recommend watching the sunrise from the park benches at the water's edge. It was beautiful.

There were places to put your kayaks in as well as a boat launch by the park. People were fishing off the jetting that protects the swimming area.

It will get chilly at night, the sites on the edge of the water were windier. And bring your bug spray. Beautiful island, fun brewery on the island, sites are crowded. I would easily head back.

    Cleveland/ Sudusky Jellystone Park

Large campground with a nice mix of seasonal and overnighters. Clean common areas. Nice pool, camp store on site with a nice selection of camp gear. Snack bar with pizza, ice cream etc. Tons of planned activities for the kids. This is a yearly trip for us! Never disappoints.

    Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™- Akron/Canton

    Cabins could be better

The bunk beds have very thin rv style bunk bed mattresses. And the master bed mattress was a weak memory foam. Needs to invest in better mattresses.

    Kelleys Island State Park Campground

    Spoiled Diamond in the Rough

I have been coming up to Kelleys Island for 39yrs and this year really tested my happiness. The campground has gone through quite a bit of changes over the last couple years and it's not entirely for the better. We stayed on the water front site directly next to the trail for the public beach. I do not recommend this site unless you want everyone to walk through the site at any time all day long. People do not respect quiet hours and leave their porch lights on in the cabins that now sit on the water front. There used to be VIPs that cleaned the park everyday and maintained everything. Not anymore and the park seems a little less friendly now. Golf carts are or were prohibited from entering the campground but now drive around the park all day long creating quite the ruckus and disturbing the beauty of nature. The bathrooms did get an upgrade of fixtures and super bright LED lights, but they took out the ADA accessible showers that had detachable shower heads and a bench to sit on in the shower. This beautiful well kept secret feels a lot like it's sister island Put-in-Bay now with all the rules stripped no care for the environment with partying all day. We did however have beautiful weather the entire time we were there. The site was clean but we noticed a lot of trees had been lost over the years and our camper sat in full sun all day long. They have replanted a tree that will cover the parking pad with shade in probably 10 years. The stairs to get to the public beach we decaying railroad ties that need some TLC but work. The dumpstation has moved to back of the campground by the old pet section which is nice and keeps the noise away from the rest of the park. They also stripped the Ranger program and no longer offer education hikes, movie nights, island history hikes, or the nature program. These were all favorites of mine as a child and made me appreciate the island more.

Guide to Fairview Park

Cabins near Fairview Park, Ohio offer a blend of convenience and natural surroundings within 30-45 minutes of the city. The area sits at approximately 700 feet above sea level with a four-season climate that makes cabin camping viable from April through October, with select heated options available year-round. Winter temperatures regularly dip below freezing, making heated cabin options essential during colder months.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Several campgrounds feature stocked lakes or ponds for on-site fishing. American Wilderness Campground offers a lake with "absolutely stunning beach views at sunset" according to Andrew V., who found the park "clean and serene." Jessica J. added, "We love the fishing available here we also had the kids they enjoyed the arcade and gem mining."

Hiking trails: Findley State Park Campground maintains multiple trail systems that accommodate different experience levels. Kimberly C. notes, "We can easily get lost on 3 mile hikes in the woods and still be on marked paths! The roads are paved and excellent for biking and skating." The park features both wooded and lakeside trails suitable for day hiking.

Water activities: Several cabin-equipped locations offer swimming, boating, and paddling options during summer months. At West Branch State Park Campground, Rino S. appreciates that "Beach is right next door too!" while Alisa G. notes, "We can launch our kayaks right from our campsite. The park office loans games and sports equipment to campers."

What campers like

Spacious sites: Compared to other regions, many cabin areas offer more room between accommodations. Tracy L. at Maple Lakes Campground observed, "Sites had a bit of space so that was nice. We would definitely return for vacation." Jon P. confirmed: "Plenty of grass and good spacing between the sites."

Clean facilities: Bath houses and shower facilities at many cabin locations undergo regular maintenance. At Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA, Jennifer H. appreciates that they have "Swimming, laundry 24/7, a game room, store with just what we needed to pick up a few things, a pond that seemed to always have someone fishing at it." The campground also offers "trash pick up at the site in the AM."

Seasonal events: Many campgrounds organize activities during peak season. At American Wilderness Campground, Cassie V. shared, "We had a nice fire roasting s'mores the atmosphere is so clean and nice we had a easy check in and we got to enter a chili cook off the food and vibes was fun." Mallory N. added that the owners "love making people happy and it shows."

What you should know

Payment options: Some locations have specific payment requirements. At Timber Ridge Campgrounds, Sarah A. advises, "Hit up the ATM prior to arriving, as this park is cash/check only. It's gorgeous with super large sites." The campground operates year-round with full hookups for cabin campers.

Reservation timing: Most cabin locations require advance planning, especially during peak season. Jeffrey L. from Findley State Park notes, "Very nice, comfortable campground, kids loved it. Only downfall is trying to find an open spot for reservations. Place is booked most of the time. If you're planning a holiday weekend you need to book 6 months in advance."

Water quality: Water supply varies by location and cabin placement. Some locations utilize well water that may contain minerals. Cabin guests should consider bringing drinking water or confirming water quality when making reservations, especially for extended stays.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Several campgrounds feature multiple play areas for different age groups. At American Wilderness Campground, Luis G. mentions, "We had a good time taking the kids to the arcade," while Jacob B. found "The beach was clean and nice." These recreational areas provide options for families when cabin space feels limited.

Educational opportunities: Some locations offer nature programs or guided activities. Woodside Lake Park has "a store and other recreational areas" according to Duncan G., while Jolynnesyea W. shares, "They have great amenities... the lake they have water sports games kayaking a paddle bike they do provide lifejackets if you do the water sport games there's fishing and much more."

Safety considerations: Water features require proper supervision. Cabins located near lakes or pools should be selected with family safety in mind. Most campgrounds with water activities provide life jackets for children, but availability may be limited during peak times.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling: Many cabin areas are built on natural terrain that may not be perfectly flat. At West Branch State Park, Andrea F. warns, "Our site was labeled slight slope. That was a joke. We were only off 2 inches side to side but front to back we had to lower the front 15 inches." Checking cabin placement before booking helps avoid accessibility issues.

Off-season availability: Limited heated cabin options exist for cool-weather camping. Findley State Park operates year-round with heated facilities, while most other locations close between late October and early April. Chris K. notes Findley has "plenty of shady campsites, good balance of primitive and camper sites."

Cabin rental amenities vary significantly across these locations, from rustic shelters to fully-furnished units with kitchenettes. Most require guests to bring their own bedding, cooking supplies, and personal items regardless of furnishing level.
