Mill Creek Camping — Berlin Lake Wildlife Area

    Bad experience

Stayed here on Saturday night of July 4th weekend. Arrived after hours without a reservation. No information on how to self register or which campsites were available even though some sites are first come first served. Found an open site, set up and went to bed. There were fireworks (prohibited) and the campsite next to us played loud music but it was before quiet hours so we didn’t mind. The loud music turned into a party with alcohol (prohibited) and the loud music continued way past quiet hours. No campground host or personnel did anything about the noise/party. At 12:30am we moved campsites because we couldn’t sleep. We saw sheriff patrolling the campground - don’t know why they didn’t quiet the offenders.

The campground is large with many sites so the probability of inconsiderate people is higher. I won’t be returning.

    Mosquito Lake State Park Campground

    Big, beautiful lake!

Great park! Sites are spacious and level. Very clean park. There are several full hook-up sites. Electric sites near the lake. We stayed at site #96. New Bathrooms are under construction. Campground is flat and great for bike riding. Nice playground for kids. Dog park nearby. Camp is near beach & marina. Also many shops and restaurants within a 10 minute drive. We will definitely be coming back to Mosquito Lake!

Mill Creek Camping — Berlin Lake Wildlife Area

Busy, but not too bad :)

Stayed a night here near the end of June after a rainstorm. A few quick highlights:

    1. Because there are a ton of sites, you can expect one thing: variety. There are plenty of aluminum Airstream, Winnebago, fifth wheels, pull behind, and tents. You can expect to find a little bit of everything here.

    2. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, Mill Creek might not be for you. Most of the sites seem to be typically pretty packed. Generally, people respect quiet hours, but with sites so close to each other, noise is a factor.

    3. The surrounding area seems to be pretty spartan. There’s a grocery store about 10 minutes up the road, a bait shop about three minutes away, and a drive-through (with some light groceries and drinks) about two away. Nice enough folks in all three :) Super helpful and accommodating.

    4. Berlin lake seems to be the big draw. Plenty of boats, jet ski‘s, kayaks, and swimming opportunities. If that’s your thing, plan accordingly and you won’t be disappointed.

Overall, Mill Creek is a pretty solid site within driving distance of Akron / Canton. I’ll be back, with adjusted expectations.

Quick tip: My particular site was pretty muddy upon arrival. Granted, that was after a bit of rain. But it wouldn’t hurt to bring an extra pair of shoes ;-)

Quiet, peaceful, close to all the things

We stopped here for a couple nights to go to a Cleveland Guardians game and go to Cuyahoga National Park. It was within great proximity to both and had all the amenities the kids and I love. Swimming (wish it were open a little later…) laundry 24/7, a game room, store with just what we needed to pick up a few things, a pond that seemed to always have someone fishing at it (that’s a good thing) and a big wide sites to spread out and have a nice campfire in. (Wood available 24/7 and trash pick up at the site in the AM). It’s always nerve wracking when the fire pits are close to the rigs - loved that these sits were wide. And while there are likely people here it feels nice and spread out.

Good location but expensive for what you get

Pros: closest camping to Cuyahoga National Park, safe, professional (labeled envelopes with information at check-in and wood delivery) Cons: bathrooms weren’t cleaned or restocked as frequently as necessary (overflowing trash cans, TP empty by 5 pm), shower curtains/showers had mildew, truly dirty bathroom floors, had to drive 1/4 mile to the one trash dumpster, unlevel sites

One more thing: there’s a significant raccoon and skunk problem along the section with water/electric back-in spots. We got to know our neighbors very well over two nights as we helped each other fend off multiple raids by entire families of raccoons and one very large, very bold skunk. We lost two camping chairs to the skunks because there was no way to fight them off once they moved into our shelter and, even without spraying, skunks tend to leave a scent behind on anything that’s fabric.

The price is okay in that it is the closest to the national park and the next closest campgrounds are the state park campgrounds (West Branch and Mosquito Lake), but the state park grounds are MUCH nicer and about $15 less per night. If you have the time to drive and can plan your trip months in advance to get reservations, West Branch is a better alternative.

    A ++

Always a great time at West Branch. The staff are very friendly and care a great deal about the quality of everyone's experience - they inspect and clean each site after the sites are vacated. The quiet hours are truly quiet, the bathrooms are very clean and fresh. Decided to rent a pontoon for the day - the boats were also very clean and well kept - they also have the option of an inner tube or jet skis if you want to rent those as well!

    Mosquito Lake State Park Campground

    Great State Park Campground

We just got back from our first trip to Mosquito Lake State Park Campground. All in all, it was a great experience.

We stayed in site 67, which is a waterfront site, with electric. The water is about 25 yards from the pad, but is visible from the entire site. The site was spacious, but not as private as some of the others. There is some woods between this site and the sites on either side, but other sites are visible. The fire pits and picnic tables were staggered, so it created some distance to make it feel more private.

The campground as a whole, was very quiet. We stayed from Wednesday to Friday. The group next to us seemed a little rowdy when we first pulled in, but by 10:00 there was no noise anywhere near us.

Most sites seemed pretty level from side to side, but where we were, several had a slope from front to back. Away from the waterfront, most sites looked pretty level. The amount of space between sites varied from site to site. Some sites had woods on both sides, while others were pretty open. Some had nice large grassy areas, others were much smaller. Sites from 214-224 are in a cul de sac and are water front, but they were pretty close together with very little privacy between sites, if any. They are very close to the water though.

There are bathrooms and water scatter about, but from what I saw there was only 1 shower house.

Wal-mart and other shopping and restaurants were about 3 miles away. Park was easy to get to, only one turn for us off the highway. Lake was great for kayaking and paddleboarding. Very nice dog park in a different part of the park. There is a boat launch accessible from inside the campground.

Dump station has 2 lanes which was nice when checking out. Fresh water fill up was also located near the dump station.

    Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA Holiday

    Happy Camping

Relax, breath, and camp. Perfect spot.

This Campground is quiet, full of fun, for families or older people. Beautiful area.
Many pull through lots, with patios. 50. 30. Full hookup, (sewer and Electric) back in, pull through, tent sites, cabins, teepees. Swimming pool, private bathrooms and showers. Fishing lake, swimming lake, trails. Children play areas. Basketball, bad mitten/volleyball, Dog wash, dog parks (2), private fenced dog sites. (2)- pull through site. Golf cart rentals, and seasonal sites that are being updated, but all are decorated nicely, and kept up.
KOA is revamping some of this campground. Work in progress, but awesome stay.

Guide to Cuyahoga Falls

Glamping options near Cuyahoga Falls span across 1,200+ acres of forest and lake terrain in northeastern Ohio, typically at elevations of 800-1,100 feet. The area experiences four distinct seasons with summer temperatures averaging 75-85°F, making May through October the prime camping season. Upscale outdoor accommodations provide a comfortable base for exploring the region's natural attractions and historic sites.

What to do

Fishing in multiple locations: Mill Creek Camping offers diverse fishing spots along Berlin Lake with lakefront sites providing convenient water access. One camper noted, "We were fourtante that our spot was right beside the lake and we could keep the boat docked their during our stay." The camping area provides fire rings and picnic tables with plenty of space between sites.

Hiking network access: West Branch State Park Campground connects to several trail systems with varying difficulty levels. A visitor mentioned, "We also took the inflatable kayaks out on the lake twice and it was so smooth and clear." The park features both waterside and wooded sites, making it ideal for nature enthusiasts wanting trail access.

Water recreation: Countryside Campground provides access to Mogadore Reservoir for kayaking and boating. "The Buckeye trail connects to the footpath down to the reservoir... I wish I would of brought my yak so we could have explored the reservoir a bit more," shared one camper. The reservoir offers calm waters suitable for beginners and experienced paddlers alike.

What campers like

Private bathhouse facilities: Campers consistently praise the bathroom accommodations at certain parks. "Clean individual showers," noted a visitor at West Branch State Park Campground. The facilities include separate shower stalls rather than communal showering areas.

Spacious tent sites: Punderson State Park Campground offers secluded tent camping areas with interesting topography. A camper described, "Really cool 'hill' sites that you have to hike up or down 20-100 feet to your wooded site." These elevated sites provide privacy not commonly found at more developed campgrounds.

Swimming options: Many luxury glamping sites near Cuyahoga Falls include water features. A visitor to Countryside Campground commented, "The pool was closed since went before Memorial Day but it was a nice medium sized pool." Most swimming areas at campgrounds in the region operate seasonally from late May through early September.

What you should know

Water quality varies: Several campgrounds have issues with water quality. At Woodside Lake Park, a camper warned about "iron & sulfur laden well water that is provided in at least half the park." Consider bringing drinking water or additional filtration systems when glamping in this region.

Site leveling challenges: Many camping areas in the region have uneven terrain. A visitor to Punderson State Park Campground noted, "The sites are not even close to level. You will need a lot of blocks to get close to level." This is particularly important for RVs and trailer setups.

Reservation requirements: Most glamping accommodations require advance booking. A camper at West Branch State Park Campground advised, "Make reservations! (6 months in advance). Waterside sites fill up quickly!" Popular weekends often book completely several months ahead, especially for premium sites.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Clay's Resort Jellystone Park provides extensive children's activities. A visitor reported, "The activities here are endless! Fishing, volleyball, basketball, kayaking, zip lining in water with swimming (15 break every 45 min), mini golf, bounce trampoline pad, cornhole, etc!" Many of these features operate on seasonal schedules.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Several glamping sites near Cuyahoga Falls feature nocturnal wildlife encounters. One camper at Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA shared, "Every night we were visited by raccoons, they stole our trash on the first night but the other nights we kept everything out of their reach." Secure food storage is essential at these locations.

Playground access: Most family-oriented campgrounds maintain playground equipment. At Woodside Lake Park, families can enjoy "swimming pond has inflatables and boat rentals. There's good fishing, and typically lots of activities." Many campgrounds schedule weekend activities specifically for children during summer months.

Tips from RVers

Hookup limitations: Rivers Edge Camping Area provides primitive camping without utility connections. "Great access close to parking lot with privacy between you and the trail. Right alongside the river with a picnic table and firepit. Portable toilet in parking lot. No running water," explained one visitor. Many RVers use this as a convenient overnight stop.

Site selection strategy: Choose sites carefully based on specific needs. At Punderson State Park Campground, an RVer cautioned, "Some of the sites are VERY SLOPED and some people parked campers in those spots and used very odd things to try and level them." Request detailed site information when making reservations.

Seasonal accessibility: Most glamping facilities near Cuyahoga Falls operate within limited seasons. American Wilderness Campground operates from "April 28 to October 15," with most other campgrounds following similar patterns. Water and electrical hookups are typically winterized by mid-October.
