CarrollWoods RV Park at Grapefull Sisters Vineyard offers full hookup sites with 50-amp service and operates year-round, accommodating large rigs with spacious pull-through sites. "Large spacious and clean well organized sites. Picnic tables and BBQ grills on sites. Pull thoughts," noted one camper who appreciated the property's layout. Dump stations are limited at some smaller facilities - Sandy Ridge lacks on-site sanitary dump service. Cell reception strength fluctuates throughout the region, with Verizon generally providing more reliable coverage. According to one visitor at North Myrtle Beach RV Resort, "We both work from home on hot spots and our Verizon connection was great." Pet-friendly policies exist at nearly all parks, though designated dog areas vary in size and quality. During winter months, several parks reduce services or close entirely, with CarrollWoods RV Park remaining one of the few open year-round options.

    Lake Leamon Family Campground

    Lovely and Charming Diamond-In-The-Rough

If you are looking for a friendly, affordable campground, open all year long, then Lake Leamon Family Campground is for you. There are no bells and whistles, but you won’t miss them when staying in this little diamond-in-the-rough campground. The manager, Pops as he is affectionately called by his employees and long-timers, goes out of his way to accommodate everyone’s needs and may even bend your ear with a story or two during your visit. From the massive 50 amp Class A rigs, to the aged or new 30 amp Class C Motorhomes, travel trailers and conversion vans to the die-hard tenters, there’s a spot for everyone. With a bath house sporting lavatories, showers and a laundry room; an arcade room over looking the lovely lake, fire pits and picnic tables, diving platforms, fishing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing and the famous Duplin Winery only nine miles away, this little campground is easy on the wallet and a sight for sore eyes when looking for that campsite you’ll want to come back to again and again!

Laurel Lakes Campground and Music Park

    Needs updating

On a positive note, they were able to get us in and we checked in 7 o’clock in the evening. They were easy-going for coming and going. the owner was very kind.

the cost is $40 a night for full hook up. We have a big rig and when we got there, a long term resident helped back us in. It seems that most of the people there are long-term residence. Unfortunately, the lakes were dried up, so no fishing was available. The bathrooms reeked of smoke and were filthy. The laundry room was available and we did three loads of small amount of laundry. It took two runs through the dryer each. The main building was not open while we were there. I think they are working on things, but as of right now if you need a place to park, they likely have availability.

Great Amenities - Quiet off season

We camped here in our 34 travel trailer. We both work from home on hot spots and our Verizon connection was great.

The place is VERY quiet in the off season. We didn’t have any neighbors in the surrounding spots.

The pool area looks super nice, but it was a little to chilly for us to spend any time in the pool. The hot tub however was a great way to end our work days! There are plenty of showers and two laundry rooms. Both are very nice and clean. There’s a small arcade which was fun too.

Check in was super easy. We were very late and they accommodated us. The staff is polite and friendly.

The site is great. Concrete pad makes for super quick and easy leveling set up. There’s a fire pit and picnic table. The spots next to us are “premium” so they have a little pavilion over their table.

The dog park is small and definitely geared towards smaller dogs. It has a cute agility type course set up. Our GSD felt a little to big for the dog park, but we made it work.

What's not to like. Beautiful, family owned campground. Large spacious and clean well organized sites. Picnic tables and BBQ grills on sites. Pull thoughts. Winery with taste testing hours and wine to purchase. 2-0/30/50 amp service. Dog run, wireless internet, laundry, pool, bath house with oversize showers, covered stage, art gallery/ gift shop, propane, playground, fishing pond, scheduled events.

T-mobile phone and hotspot work well

    ATT hotspot ok

Great RV park, especially for boaters and families

This is a very clean, modern, and well kept RV park. It’s big rig friendly since many of the sites are pull through with full hook ups. Bath houses are very clean and look brand new. There is a beautiful boardwalk along the Intercoastal Waterway where you can watch the boats pass by. There is also a large pool with massive water slide and a nearby tiki bar. Lots of amenities for kids and a well stocked camp store.

    Wishing Well

    Good Location for Economy Minded

We stayed here for 2 weeks in September 2019. We don’t have kids, so we didn’t need amenities to entertain them. There is no pool, or playground, but there is a large area to walk your pets. Yes, they are PET FRIENDLY.
It’s not a large RV campground, with only 34 back-in sites. You do have FULL HOOKUPS. The owner is very friendly and is easy to work with. He keeps the grounds neat and the showers and restrooms clean. You are only 10 minutes to Sunset Beach and Ocean Isle Beach. Also, North Myrtle Beach is only 25 minutes away. They close December 15th, until sometime in spring.
If you are just trying to get a place in the area and don’t need a lot of campground amenities, I would recommend this place to you. We’ll definitely be going back.

    Barefoot RV Resort

    Quiet, clean, nice location

We were there with 2 other couples when tropical storm Elsa came. They cleaned up some tree limbs and debris shortly after the winds subsided. We had a nice week. We were next to an airport and enjoyed watching small aircraft. I videoed planes dropping banners. Pool was clean and had nice loungers and restrooms. Palm trees at every site lit up at night. You could walk to grocery store, liquor store, restaurants, the beach, and barefoot landing. You could drive a gulf cart to all these places too. They had activities also. We tie dyed our shirts with their logo on them to remember our stay. We saw fire dancers who taught the audience to dance, not with fire. The laundromat was clean. Didn’t use the showers but they were nice too. It is a gated campground. The sites are spacious and concrete pad for trailer, tow vehicle and picnic tables. Fire pits are nice. Would definitely recommend!

Guide to Lake Waccamaw

Campsites around Lake Waccamaw, North Carolina range in elevation from 20 to 60 feet above sea level in the coastal plain region. Most camping areas feature sandy soil with pine forest coverage, typical of the Carolina Bay ecosystem. Winter temperatures rarely drop below freezing, making year-round camping possible at several facilities without winterization concerns.

What to do

Vineyard activities: CarrollWoods RV Park offers wine tastings at their on-site vineyard with scheduled events throughout the year. "What's not to like. Beautiful, family owned campground... Winery with taste testing hours and wine to purchase... covered stage, art gallery/gift shop," notes Robert M. The facility includes a fishing pond and playground for non-wine activities.

Waterway recreation: North Myrtle Beach RV Resort provides direct access to the Intracoastal Waterway with boat rentals available on-site. "You are right on the Intercoastal waterway and can watch the boats travel up and down. They also have boats and golf carts for rent," reports Dee A. The resort includes a boardwalk along the water for those who prefer to observe rather than navigate.

Golf cart exploration: Barefoot RV Resort accommodates golf cart transportation to nearby attractions. "Rent a golf cart from Salty's- they deliver it right to your campsite. This was a must have as we used it to get to the beach, shopping/bars in Barefoot Landing, food store and more," advises Jessica D. Most local shops and restaurants within a mile radius allow golf cart parking.

What campers like

Spacious layouts: Willow Tree RV Resort offers generously sized camping spots with privacy features. "The sites are huge and along the lake where I camped, they are angled so that you don't really see much of your neighbors," explains Rose S. The resort restricts tent camping but provides ample space for larger RVs.

Farm animal interactions: Double L Farms Campground offers a unique rural camping experience with livestock access. "Amazing! Brian and Lisa have done an amazing job making their place welcoming to all. A working farm that even had the dog smiling at the end of the day," shares katyfelps. The 46-acre property allows campers to interact with horses, cows, chickens, and other farm animals.

Pool complexes: Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach provides extensive water recreation facilities beyond basic swimming pools. "This park is absolutely gorgeous... Mini golf, water park, and bowling are all really nice to have so close," notes Sean N. The park maintains late-hour pool access with saltwater systems rather than traditional chlorine.

What you should know

Bathhouse facilities: Many campgrounds provide modern bathroom facilities with private shower arrangements. At North Myrtle Beach RV Resort, "The showers are very nice and clean... There are plenty of showers and two laundry rooms. Both are very nice and clean," according to Ariel F. Some facilities include air conditioning in bathroom buildings during summer months.

Seasonal operation changes: Winter camping options vary significantly across facilities. "During winter months, several parks reduce services or close entirely," with In The Pines RV & Cabin Village remaining open year-round. "New Park with all the amenities you need, clean well kept facilities and grounds," reports Kristie B.

Internet connectivity: Work-from-camp options depend heavily on location. At Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach, "This place is worth every penny you pay... The sites are perfect," states Joe G. Most campgrounds offer WiFi, but reliability varies with distance from main buildings and overall park occupancy.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly attractions: Sandy Ridge Campground & RV Resort provides extensive outdoor exploration opportunities. "Great newer campground close to white lake. Spots are a little tight but full hookup with WiFi. Gated entrance and over 600 acres to explore with golf cart trails and golf cart rentals," explains Vance S. The property includes trails suitable for children of various ages.

Pool features for different ages: Barefoot RV Resort separates swimming areas by activity level. "Has 2 pools (one for kids with a slide & lazy river and one more for adults/quieter activities). The pools are in opposite corners of the resort," mentions Jessica D. This arrangement allows families to choose appropriate swimming environments.

Educational opportunities: Double L Farms Campground offers impromptu farm education. "Brian took our two year old on a tour of their amazing farm — horses, cows, ducks, chickens, and all the tractors of our toddlers' dreams," shares Heather M. These experiences occur daily rather than on scheduled programs.

Tips from RVers

Site surface variations: RV sites near Lake Waccamaw, North Carolina feature different pad materials affecting setup ease. "[Barefoot RV Resort has] nice level concrete parking for all rig types and sizes. Well kept grass lawn at each spot with picnic table and fire pit," notes Msmetoo48 S. Concrete pads remain level regardless of weather, while gravel sites may require additional leveling after heavy rain.

Utility management: S & W RV Park provides full hookups despite limited amenities. "Reasonably priced during peak season. We stayed 2 weeks, had a large campsite (probably hit or miss on site size), and really enjoyed our stay," reports Lauren D. Water pressure fluctuates seasonally with highest pressure typically occurring in spring months.
