RV parks near Hot Springs accommodate varying vehicle sizes with Pride RV Resort and Creekwood Farm RV Park both offering big rig-friendly sites with full hookups, including 50-amp electric service. Most sites feature level gravel pads with moderate spacing between neighboring RVs. "The RV sites are pretty close together and it was busy when we were there - that's my only downfall," noted one camper about Hot Springs Campground, which provides riverside sites within walking distance to town amenities. Wilson's Riverfront RV Park in Asheville offers waterfront sites approximately 40 miles from Hot Springs with both pull-through and back-in spots that can accommodate larger motorhomes and travel trailers.

Several mountain access roads require careful navigation, especially for longer rigs approaching campgrounds on Forest Service roads. Fall and summer represent peak seasons with many parks requiring reservations weeks in advance. Most RV parks in the region maintain year-round operations, though amenities may be reduced during winter months. Dump stations and sewer hookups are standard at established RV resorts, while some smaller facilities offer only partial hookups. Pet policies generally allow dogs with standard restrictions. Propane refill service is limited at campgrounds but available in nearby towns. Cell service varies significantly by location, with mountain valley settings often experiencing reduced coverage compared to parks closer to Asheville or Interstate 40.

      LOCATION

The location is incredible! We enjoyed the accessibility of hiking, biking and fishing right from the campground. ART LOEB trailhead is right outside the campground entrance and is excellent for hiking and mountain biking. Several loops and even sites provide access to the river for fishing. Just outside the campground are endless trails and several beautiful waterfalls that can be accessed within a 5-15 min car ride. Convenient to a few restaurants, grocery stores and even a Walmart (which is slightly dodgy so be warned).

      SITE

014 WOAK site is an RV site. It’s spacious and very private. We loved how much room we had to spread out and entertain as we were traveling with several other camping families. Our site was the go to spot! Backing in wasn’t difficult. It was convenient that the pull through site across from us was vacant, this made backing in super easy. There are no hookups on this site. So be sure you have a generator! One bonus on the location of this site is the water access just feet away. We needed to fill up and had forgot to do so when we pulled in to the campground. What a relief to see a water access just steps from the campsite! The only downside was that generator hours are very limited. If you are traveling during warmer months or must have AC, this is not the site for you. We felt that the tree coverage really provided us protection from the heat and did very well without AC in early August.

      ACTIVITIES

      • Slide Rock is a natural water slide that is fun for the whole family. Yes… it’s COLD and honestly worth every moment of chilly suffering.

      • Hiking is abundant and all levels are accessible within minutes to a few miles of the campsite. Our favorites are: Looking Glass Falls (steps going down make this a breeze), Moore Cove Falls is a MUST and an easy trail that leads to the perfect waterfall for a good photo, Looking Glass Rock is a moderate to difficult hike and worth it. Looking Glass Rock is a long hike so be prepared to go early and bring a rain jacket.

      • Fishing right within the campground makes it perfect for an early morning or late afternoon activity. The hatchery is nearby and offers some wonderful opportunities to catch and release. Be sure to look in to a guided tour for a hands on experience filled with lots of educational info on local fish.

      • Biking is a top activity for lots of overnight and day campers. The Art Loeb Trail provides endless miles that proves fun for the whole family.

      • Ice Cream at Dolly’s should make your list if you love a refreshing treat. This iconic little stop if right by the entrance to the Pisgah Forest and just around the corner from the campground. Also a great spot for a cell signal!

      • Breweries aren’t hard to find nearby. Small microbreweries are within a few minutes and Sierra Nevada Brewery is 25 minutes away.

      DON’T FORGET

      • Generator (in case your site doesn’t offer electric)
      • Headlamps and Flashlights (tree coverage is heavy so it gets darker faster)
      • Fishing Poles
      • Rain Jackets (it rained almost daily in the afternoon)
      • Cordless Leaf Blower (for removing leaves from slide outs)

      Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg KOA Campground

      Glamping in Pigeon Forge

This is not exactly the camping in the woods without hookups atmosphere. This is more of a every want/need met glamping RV Resort. And it’s awesome!

The RV sites are large and level, full hookup. There are gorgeous cabins that look more like tiny homes, and the atmosphere at this park is a great way to retreat. 100 ft max for RVs.

Very kid friendly, pet friendly (Kamp K9), lots in the area to go do and see. Pools, hot tub, kitchen, firewood for sale, fishing access, snack bar, cable tv, and WiFi.

The staff here is awesome, very helpful and knowledgeable. The park is very clean and well kept.

Cellular service for TMobile was not very strong but AT&T provided plenty for streaming and working.

      Indian Creek Campground

      Excellent Campground

Indian Creek Campground in Cherokee, NC is a hidden gem. Nice hosts, clean facilities in the woods. We have a 25 ft pull behind camper and sites are big enough for slide-outs. Picknick table and campfire ring was on site. We had a 30 amp full hook-up site. Campground has tent sites, RV sites, cabins, clean bathhouse and is dog friendly.

      Anchor Down RV Resort

      Gorgeous

The Amenities - Bath House, restrooms and laundry are the finest I have ever encountered. Shower areas are large enough for families with young ones to be together with wet, dry, sink and commode area all in one room - some shower heads are adjustable for height and become hand held. Cleanliness was amazing. All campsites had concrete pad, fire pit or gorgeous fireplace, metal picnic table and they deliver a bucket of firewood for $5. Was surprised the only bug we encountered were flies - not one mosquito. Pet friendly - pick up stations and off leash area with activities for active breeds.

      The Ridge Outdoor Resort

      What a Great Resort!

We joined a rally and extended our stay in early-April. What a great resort!

      • Proximity to Pigeon Forge, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and the surrounding tourist area

      • Hospitable staff

      • Onsite Jeep rental

      • Clean and well-appointed Signature Sites including hot tub, outdoor TV, stone fireplace, stamped concrete pad and patio

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE SO MUCH:

      • The WiFi was lousy which wouldn’t normally matter, but our WiFi didn’t work either due to poor cell service in the area

      WOULD WE COME BACK?

      • Absolutely, this is a great resort!

    Guide to Hot Springs

RV campgrounds near Hot Springs, North Carolina position travelers within the Blue Ridge Mountains at elevations between 1,300 and 2,700 feet. The region experiences distinct seasonal changes with cooler mountain temperatures even during summer months. Many campgrounds follow the French Broad River, creating waterfront camping options with variable cellular reception due to the mountainous terrain.

    What to do

Kayaking and tubing access: Wilson's Riverfront RV Park offers direct river access with rental options. "Wilson's is right on the French Broad River and is neighbors to 'French Broad Outfitters,'- a company that rents kayaks, canoes, and tubes to take down the river," shares one camper, adding that "they have a bar and outdoor games like corn hole, making it an awesome spot to chill with a beer and hang by the river."

Fishing opportunities: Several campgrounds provide stocked fishing ponds or stream access for anglers. At Pride RV Resort, visitors can enjoy "two fishing pounds, a creek, swimming pool, store and much more," according to a camper. The resort also offers spaces beside Jonathan Creek, which provides peaceful natural sounds.

Walking trails: The French Broad River Greenway runs through several camping areas. As one visitor to Wilson's Riverfront notes, "The French Broad River Greenway, a shared bike path, runs right through the campground and is great for taking you to nearby places by bike, like Carrier Park or ClimbMax Climbing Gym."

    What campers like

Private bathroom facilities: Many RV campgrounds near Hot Springs provide individual bathroom suites rather than traditional communal facilities. At Creekwood Farm RV Park, "the bathrooms were amazing, individual bathrooms, very roomy and oh so clean," notes a camper who rated it among their top five campgrounds.

Creek-side camping spots: Multiple campgrounds offer water-adjacent sites that provide natural white noise for sleeping. "There is also a creek running through the back of the property and there are many sites along the creek," reports one Creekwood Farm visitor, while another adds, "Many creek side spots. All are back in. 30,50 amp power, sewer and cable TV hookups."

Entertainment options: Several campgrounds include on-site activities beyond just camping. At Pride RV Resort, "along with a swimming pool, there is a rec room, a mini golf course, basketball court, a covered shuffleboard court, a playground, and much more. For large groups, there is an indoor pavilion."

    What you should know

Reservation timing: Most popular campgrounds fill quickly during peak seasons. At Anchor Down RV Resort, one visitor advises: "It is so hard to get a reservation here, so we decided to take what we could get so we could try it out! A tip to get reservations! Call and put your name on a waiting list for the dates you need. If they have cancellations, they call the people on the list instead of releasing the dates on the website!"

Site layout considerations: Many campgrounds feature varying site designs and proximities. "Some of the internal resort roads are in need of resurfacing, as there are quite a few potholes. There are a few sites along the creek on the back left that are a little wooded and have some separation," notes a Rutledge Lake RV Resort visitor.

Office hours limitations: Some campgrounds restrict certain activities outside office hours. A Rutledge Lake camper points out: "The only thing I would recommend is keeping office open later then 5. When office closes you can not take boats, or kayaks out. So when you spend day out site seeing and return office is closed. Can not get Ice, wood or boat rentals."

    Tips for camping with families

Playground proximity planning: When selecting a site, consider bathroom access if traveling with small children. One visitor to Pride RV Resort observed, "There is no restroom even close to the playground area. Thankfully we didn't have a bathroom emergency with our toddler."

Pool facilities: Many RV campgrounds near Hot Springs maintain pools with various operating seasons. Creekside RV Park visitors note the facility "is clean and welcoming" with "bathrooms are clean. Pool was nice. Showers had plenty of hot water and appeared to be cleaned multiple times daily."

Entertainment planning: Some campgrounds offer scheduled activities worth planning around. At Creekwood Farm, "When we arrived, we noticed a lot of vintage campers and later found out it was a vintage camper show that weekend. Then on Saturday night, there was a live band! It was amazing."

    Tips from RVers

Navigating tight entrances: Several RV campgrounds require careful maneuvering, especially with larger rigs. At Creekside RV Park, visitors warn "when you come off the interstate you have to make a extremely hard right to get into park, not possible with a big rig...had to go up to the office/shop and turn around."

Site selection strategy: Request specific sites based on your priorities. A visitor to Rutledge Lake RV Resort recommends: "We had spot #10 water front. It had plenty of space for the 5 of us and 2 dogs. Nice gravel level sites."

Cell service considerations: Coverage varies significantly across campgrounds. A Rutledge Lake camper reported "AT&T had 3 bars and 5 MB/s w/o a booster, 4 bars and 7 MB/s with it" while noting "Overall WiFi was problematic. It took numerous attempts on my computer to connect to the numerous router networks."
