    Blydenburgh County Park

    Big Rig Camping in Blydenburgh

We have a 42 ft 5th wheel toy hauler. A few Big Rig spots are available, but this is a Suffock Co Campground that is not well maintained. 2 miles of the Road have many areas of missing blacktop making a very rough ride with low branches. The dump station is basically not accessible to a big rig. Most of the longer sites were very difficult to level.

    Indian Island County Park

    Great location, beautiful views

Wonderful weekend visit in the off season. Site was level, pretty spacious and easy to back into. Campsites are located close enough to the beach/marsh. Multiple playgrounds for the kids although they were closed due to Covid. No sewers sites that I could tell, and water was off because we were a week shy of the season opening. Needed to move to dump station prior to leaving (2 night visit) and had to drive to fill the fresh water tank once while there. Nice neighbors. Dog friendly. People obeyed the quiet hours. I have not one complaint. There were hiking trails and geocaching on site. 4 stars bc no sewer at the campsite and we like full hook ups and honestly I’m guessing this is a county rule but the playgrounds could’ve been open. Outside and socially distanced after dealing with Covid for a whole year and most local parks and playgrounds being open since last May... that was upsetting. All in all we had a great weekend. Close to the LI aquarium as well! Many stores and a golf course near by too!

    Black Rock State Park Campground

    A nice family friendly campground

This is a nice family friendly campground that makes for easy trips. There are a variety of sites available, from open field sites to more wooded and private areas. The campground also has a lake for swimming, trails for hiking, and some nice quiet areas for fishing. Well maintained bathrooms, with available showers, are also spread throughout the grounds. Not pet friendly unfortunately.

    Aces High RV Park

    Peaceful

Well organized campground with both water front back in sites as well as large pull throughs. Pull through sites also have lots of space between them so you don't feel like you are on top of the neighbors. Sites and roads are a pea gravel material and each site has large grassy areas around it. It was a quiet area with ponds and creeks and a generally relaxing setting. It has a clean playground and well maintained pool as well as some walking paths, large grassy areas, pavilion and volleyball court. All sites but one (#67) are full hook up. Some seasonal sites but all were tasteful and not trashy looking. We enjoyed the shade trees on our site (#3) and noticed many sites had similar trees, but the owner keeps them trimmed to not interfere when parking on your site. There is also a creek area for dog swimming. Our two labs loved it! Local kayaking areas and about 30 min to Foxwoods Casino, even closer to Mohegan Sun. Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium are also not too far. Nearby (5min drive) is also a fun looking place for mini golf. Will definitely be back!

    Wolf's Den Family Campground

    Perfect location central in Connecticut

This place is off Route 9 in Connecticut on the east side of the Connecticut River (major RT 9 highway is on west side). You need to cross the river via bridge to Goodspeed Opera house and past to get to the RV campground. Nearby attractions are Gillette Castle and Goodspeed Opera. The campground itself is realy nice. Cable TV at most sites. Only electric 30 or 50A, and water; but there are a few dumpstations around in the camp. Very peaceful. There are activities on Friday and Saturday (like Bingo). Great store with extended hours. The camp staff will help you with anything. Really long or tall RV will need to stay close to the front of the campground, as typical older campground is not designed for 40 foot long or 10 foot high campers.

    Hither Hills State Park Campground

    Nice

Stayed in May, June, and November 2023. The location is its best feature. The beach is just over the dunes. Village Pizza is remarkably good.

Had to take a star off for no hookups. Generator hours are limited. There are spigots located down the middle of the rows. Go on google maps to find a spot near a spigot.

Cell signal varies wildly by spot. B17 no prob at all. G14 spotty. F20 total dead zone.

Bath house on the west side is eh. The east side- beautiful.

    Riverdale Farm Campsites

Great camping near Mystic off I-95

This is a really nice family campground just a mile or so off I-95 in Clinton, CT. It is about 20 miles from Mystic and the historic seaport center. Most of the roads are paved, the sites are large and level, there are full hookups, and a dump station. There are a lot of seasonal residents, but still plenty of open sites for travelers. There is a playground, game room, “adult ” lounge, a laundry, a swimming pond, and river access for fishing and swimming. Internet is an extra fee! ($6/day) The road into the campground is narrow and winding, so larger RV mss as y have trouble, but there were several of them there when we were there. There is a security gate at the entrance.

RV camping near Shoreham, New York offers a mix of waterfront and wooded campsites across Long Island and nearby Connecticut. The region features both bay and ocean access, with summer temperatures averaging 75-85°F and spring/fall conditions ranging from 55-70°F. Most campgrounds remain open from May through September, though select locations like Cathedral Pines County Park operate year-round.

What to do

Beach access: 5-minute drive from Heckscher State Park Campground to multiple beaches on the property. "Beaches were a 5 min drive. Facilities (bathroom/showers) were clean, campsites were generously spaced, water spouts at almost every site," notes Elizabeth D.

Hiking trails: Various difficulty levels around Rocky Neck State Park Campground provide coastal views. "Hiking trails along the coast line. Beautiful state park," states Timothy R., highlighting the scenic coastal paths accessible directly from the camping area.

Water activities: Kayaking spots available within short drives of several campgrounds. At Aces High RV Park, April L. mentions "Local kayaking areas and about 30 min to Foxwoods Casino, even closer to Mohegan Sun. Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium are also not too far."

What campers like

Wildlife viewing: Deer encounters common at Smith Point County Park campsites. "And sweet deer. I watched a momma deer nursing two of her babies," shares Patrick C. about his experience at the park's bayfront camping area.

Urban convenience: Walking distance to attractions from Crocker's Boatyard RV sites. James G. reports, "Needed a place to stay for 2 nights, My wife and I were going to show at the Garde Theater. Which was walking distance from the boat yard... The next day we took the ferry to Block Island which was also walking distance."

Swimming options: Clean pools available at multiple campgrounds. At Aces High RV Park, Tasha O. points out it's "a great place to camp. The sites are large and it's very clean and a beautiful park. Daniella treats us like part of her family and the staff are always so helpful."

What you should know

Site boundaries: Limited privacy at several campgrounds. Jessica C. observes about Heckscher State Park, "The campsites are very close together without any defining borders so everybody just walks across each other site's to get to a different one, a path, the bathroom, etc."

Seasonal permits: Suffolk County residency requirements apply at some parks. Tim M. warns about Smith Point County Park: "ONLY DRAWBACKS, 1- YOU HAVE TO BE A RESIDENT OF SUFFOLK CO, NY, 2- ONE WEEK STAY AT A TIME. PERIOD."

Special events: Check schedule for on-site activities. Giselle P. shares about Heckscher State Park Campground: "On one visit there was a magician performing for the camp goers. I've even been there while there was a philharmonic concert near the campground."

Safety features: Regular staff presence provides security. Jessica C. reports, "Rangers came around checking on everyone often so it really did feel incredibly safe."

Tips from RVers

Site selection: Corner spots offer more space at certain parks. Stephen P. recommends at Smith Point: "I also like the corner sites as they are bigger. The 230-70 overlook the ocean which is great."

Utility hookups: Quality varies between parks. Matt S. appreciates Aces High RV Park: "Utility hookups were in great condition and everything worked as it should (other parks should come and take a look at how to do this right)."

Road access: Consider vehicle size when booking. Junior D. cautions about Cathedral Pines County Park: "Was a pretty spacious park, very quiet, nice people, but not very many electric sites."
