Best RV Parks & Resorts near Otto, NY

Several RV parks near Otto accommodate large motorhomes with varying hookup options. Maple Lane RV Park in Cuba offers full hookups including 50-amp electric service, water, and sewer connections on sites open from April through October. High Pines RV Park features 149 sites with big-rig friendly access, full hookups, and both 30/50-amp service options. "Our site was a level gravel back in site. The back in sites are very wide and roomy, the pull through sites are a little closer together," noted one visitor to Colden Lakes Resort, which provides 30 full-hookup sites. Elkdale RV Resort in Salamanca caters specifically to RVs with big-rig access, 50-amp electrical hookups, and sewer connections on primarily gravel pads.

Seasonal availability varies significantly throughout the region, with most parks closing between late October and early April. Dump stations are available at most locations, though quality and setup differ considerably—one reviewer mentioned a dump station that was "simply just a pipe off one of the driveways with a water hose." Cell service can be inconsistent in more remote areas, with Verizon typically providing better coverage than AT&T. Many parks require advance reservations during summer weekends and fall foliage season. Pet-friendly policies are common but may include breed restrictions or vaccination requirements. Propane refill services are limited, with the nearest reliable options located in larger towns approximately 20-30 miles from most campgrounds.

    Evangola State Park Campground

Some Sites Have a View of Lake Erie

    Unfortunately, my site did not.

However, my site wasn't crowded and the electricity was reliable. This campground has three loops. One has 30 amp power, one has 50 amp power (with a 30 amp outlet on the same pedestal) and the third loop is for tent camping. There are several places to get water in the camp, so be sure to fill up your tanks before you park. There is a dump station. None of the sites are full hook up.

Each site has a picnic table and a grill.

There are two bath houses. The newer one - between loops one and three - also has laundry facilities.

Your payment for your campsite entitles you to admission to the beach, which is a hike or a drive away.

    Cinderella Motel & Campsite

Basic, Convenient, VFM (value for money)

This campground is very basic with very close campsites.  The bathhouse and laundry are old but clean.  The staff were very friendly and helpful.  It is very close to Niagara falls and for the money it is the best campground here.  KOA and Branches CGs are nicer but they are also triple the price which for us did not seem worth it.  We were in a back in gravel site that backed up to the motel which may not seem that nice but the electric, water and sewer worked perfectly.  Our 40 foot MH and Toad fit with room to spare.  There were sites that were on the outskirts of the property that backed to the woods which some people may prefer.  Those sites were just as close although there were several that would take big rigs bit don't expect to open your awnings in most sites.   There is a nice grassy area in the center with a small covered pavilion.   There are a few sites on the side/front of Motel.  We were here to visit Niagara Falls so location and a basic campground with full hookups was all we were looking for and this campground fit our needs perfectly.  We would stay here again.

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

An old campsite that fits our needs

This is not a resort campground nor is it a campground built for escapism. It’s very close to Niagara Falls, the Rainbow Bridge (for driving into Canada), and Buffalo, NY.

Mike is very friendly; check in was easy. The sites are full hook up or w/e only. There are pull throughs and back-ins, 30amp and 50amp sites. Your site is assigned once you arrive. You pay a deposit when you book and pay the rest when you arrive.

They have Good Sam and weekly discounts and I was also given a cash/check discount. So our total was $51 a night for a week’s stay.

The sites toward the front are definitely more level and have better cell service, but the sites toward the back are better shaded. Cell service and wifi was enough for me to work during the week and stream at night.

The facilities could use some work. They are very old, and it’s hard to tell if they are clean or just old. Laundry is available - $2.50 a wash/$1.75 a dry.

Basically, don’t expect a beautiful vacation campground. I work full time remotely from the camper. I was able to work during the days and get to Niagara Falls, CAN, and Buffalo quickly after work. Even with the discount, which I’m thankful for, it is overpriced for what it is. But it served my needs, I felt safe, and the owner was friendly so 3 stars. With some TLC to the sites and the facilities, I’d give it 4.

    Buckaloons

    Roomy and wooded

We come here at least once per summer. It is very family friendly, pet friendly and just beautiful. If you kayak, you can drop in up in Warren and come in right at the campground. Ice and wood available on site. Dollar general close by just in case.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

    Good location

This campground is open year around which is really hard to find in this area. We needed to come here for personal reasons before any other campground was opened. So far this isn’t bad could be better/ cleaner.

It is 50 amp full hook up with free Wi-Fi that doesn’t suck.

The site are paved level back ins and pull throughs

The staff was nice enough. Haven’t had much interaction with him.

There is a great Italian store right across the street and Niagara Falls down the road. I would stay here in a pinch again

    Colden Lakes Resort

    Beautiful Campground

This a beautiful campground with very friendly staff. Our site was a level gravel back in site. The back in sites are very wide and roomy, the pull through sites are a little closer together. There are 4 small pristine lakes. It’s about an hour from Niagara Falls and out in the Country, very quiet and peaceful. Would definitely come back

Jellystone Park™ of Western New York

Camping resort in the middle of nowhere

There was a great WiFi connection, so it was difficult to get my boys to go explore! We have a 35 foot travel trailer and had zero difficulty backing into a W/E spot. Gravel pads, decent space between RVs. We did need our extra hose to reach our spigot but I think that was unusual. The dump station was easy to get to and clean when we left.

Playgrounds, beach, mini-golf, dog park, bounce pillow, basketball, volleyball, movie nights, wagon rides twice a day with Jellystone characters, lots of daily activities, water park, kayaks, SUP’s, canoes, LIFEGUARDS!... ALL INCLUDED. My kids did mini-golf 4 times. Snack bar (with good wings and delivers!). Golf cart rentals. What was I most impressed with? Trash pickup. You put it in front of your site, somebody picked it up. Any time of day.

There were three types of cabins I saw, but didn’t go inside. You could fish in the pond. The website says Laser Tag but we didn’t explore that far. The town is teeny tiny so no good grocery store around. The grounds were well kept. Niagara Falls were a little more than an hour away. Great day trip!

We we will come back next year and bring our cousins!

Guide to Otto

East Otto State Forest offers free primitive camping on 14 designated sites approximately 12 miles southeast of Otto, New York. The forest sits in the northwestern foothills of the Allegheny Plateau with elevations ranging from 1,400 to 1,900 feet. Winter camping remains popular despite occasional heavy lake effect snow, with some visitors setting up hot tents for cold weather comfort.

What to do

Hiking in Allegheny State Park: Red House Area offers numerous marked trails for hikers of all abilities. "This is a great place to camp. New improvements to the park have been made the last few years! They run daily activities you can go to and learn about different things in nature," notes one visitor to Red House Area — Allegany State Park.

Bouldering at Thunder Rocks: The park's natural rock formations provide climbing opportunities for adventurous visitors. "Check out Thunder rocks and climb boulders the size of a house," recommends a camper who found the formations impressive and accessible for family exploration.

Water activities on the Allegheny Reservoir: Willow Bay Recreation Area provides direct access to the water. "The water is a great amenity and you can rent canoes and kayaks!!" writes one enthusiastic camper at Willow Bay Recreation Area, where waterfront sites are available for both tents and RVs.

What campers like

Privacy between sites: At East Otto State Forest, campers appreciate the natural separation between camping areas. "This was a nice secluded feeling site, neighbors are pretty close by and you can hear them but a good amount of private space to yourself," reports one visitor who camped there in 2021.

Family-friendly amenities: RV parks near Otto, New York offer extensive recreation options. High Pines RV Park provides "a game room that offers free games for the kids along with a playground and basketball court," according to a 2021 visitor who appreciated the family activities.

Natural surroundings: Many campgrounds maintain wooded settings despite offering full hookups. One camper at Jellystone Park of Western New York noted, "What are the best things about this National Park is that you feel like you were in a Yogi Bear show although there is still a ton of beautiful nature to enjoy."

What you should know

Seasonal limitations: Most RV parks in the Otto area close between late October and early May. High Pines RV Park stays open longer into fall, but a visitor cautions, "We will go back again but making sure it's not peak summer due to not having 50A."

Cell service gaps: Coverage varies significantly by carrier and location. At Willow Bay Recreation Area, a recent visitor reported, "No cell service with AT&T or Verizon," making it important to plan communications accordingly.

Firewood availability: Local regulations restrict transporting firewood. A camper at Quaker Area noted, "The park service asks you not to transport fire wood. We understand why, my problem is when you get to the park the small bundles way over priced 35$ lasted for a night."

Bathroom facilities: Quality varies widely between campgrounds. East Otto State Forest has no facilities, while RV parks offer varying levels of service. Willow Bay provides "vault toilets on the tent side and plumbing and showers on the RV side."

Tips for camping with families

Plan for rainy day activities: The region receives significant rainfall. One visitor to Quaker Area — Allegany State Park suggests, "The rustic cabins offered through most of the Quaker Area are a bargain and never have a problem staying toasty on cold nights with their wood burning stoves," making them ideal for inclement weather.

Look for campgrounds with programmed activities: Many parks offer organized events. "They loved all of the hikes, they loved all other places, from thunder rocks to bear caves trail," shares a long-time visitor about their children's experiences at Quaker Area.

Consider campsite location carefully: Some camping loops have tighter spacing. A visitor to Quaker Area observed, "The campsites were a little too closely spaced, and no one enforced quiet hours. We could hear people laughing and carrying on all night long."

Tips from RVers

Access challenges: Several rv parks near Otto, New York have specific limitations. At High Pines RV Park, a visitor noted, "Our site only had 30a power. Most seem to be that way. Looks like some updates are on the way."

Winter RV options: Quaker Area accommodates cold-weather camping. "The box wood stoves inside to keep things thirsty, warm, even on a snowy day," reports one winter visitor who uses the park for holiday camping traditions.

Site configurations: Different campgrounds offer varying RV setups. High Pines features both back-in and pull-through options, with one camper noting, "We had a site in the full hookup back in section, they are very nice spacious sites," indicating back-in sites may offer more room than pull-through alternatives.
