Best RV Parks & Resorts near Depew, NY

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Several RV parks dot the landscape near Depew, New York, catering to various RV camping preferences. Southwoods RV Resort in Byron operates from May 1 to October 31, featuring full hookups with 50-amp electric service, sewer, and water connections on spacious sites. DINO RV Campground in Cheektowaga maintains three RV sites with electric, water, and sewer hookups suitable for larger vehicles. Skyline RV Resort in Darien Center provides both 30-amp and 50-amp service at gravel sites that accommodate big rigs from May through mid-October. Sites throughout the region are predominantly gravel with varying degrees of levelness and spacing between neighbors. "The sites are very nice and well maintained. There are campers for rent, cabins for rent, tent sites, RV sites and premium RV sites," noted one visitor about Six Flags Darien Lake Campground.

Advance reservations prove essential during summer months and fall foliage season when Niagara Falls visitors frequently fill nearby RV parks. Most facilities maintain sanitary dump stations, with some offering on-site sewer hookups directly at pull-through RV pads. Seasonal operation represents a significant consideration, as most parks close between late October and early May. Based on reviews from The Dyrt, site spacing varies considerably between properties - "a little tight if you like to spread out" according to one camper's assessment of Skyline RV Resort. Many parks enforce pet policies that permit animals but may require rabies vaccination documentation. Road noise affects several facilities, particularly those situated along major routes leading to Buffalo or Niagara Falls. Full hookup RV sites typically command premium pricing, with rates varying by location and proximity to attractions.

    Evangola State Park Campground

Some Sites Have a View of Lake Erie

    Unfortunately, my site did not.

However, my site wasn't crowded and the electricity was reliable. This campground has three loops. One has 30 amp power, one has 50 amp power (with a 30 amp outlet on the same pedestal) and the third loop is for tent camping. There are several places to get water in the camp, so be sure to fill up your tanks before you park. There is a dump station. None of the sites are full hook up.

Each site has a picnic table and a grill.

There are two bath houses. The newer one - between loops one and three - also has laundry facilities.

Your payment for your campsite entitles you to admission to the beach, which is a hike or a drive away.

Four Mile Creek State Park Campground

    Simple campground on Lake Ontario

We stayed here because it was near Niagara Falls and had site availability. We stayed at a non-electric campsite (mid-June). There were 4 other campsites occupied in our area. We have a camper van with solar power and fresh water. There is a shower in the non-electric section but it's not heated water. Since it's June, the temperature was only mildly shocking to my senses. However, the rest of the showers in the campground are heated (we checked). There are at least two laundry facilities. I actually exchanged cash for quarters at the front office. The grounds are well maintained. Beware of the resident skunk that walks around. I didn't test the cell signal here but I was able to work remotely and video chat.

    Cinderella Motel & Campsite

Basic, Convenient, VFM (value for money)

This campground is very basic with very close campsites.  The bathhouse and laundry are old but clean.  The staff were very friendly and helpful.  It is very close to Niagara falls and for the money it is the best campground here.  KOA and Branches CGs are nicer but they are also triple the price which for us did not seem worth it.  We were in a back in gravel site that backed up to the motel which may not seem that nice but the electric, water and sewer worked perfectly.  Our 40 foot MH and Toad fit with room to spare.  There were sites that were on the outskirts of the property that backed to the woods which some people may prefer.  Those sites were just as close although there were several that would take big rigs bit don't expect to open your awnings in most sites.   There is a nice grassy area in the center with a small covered pavilion.   There are a few sites on the side/front of Motel.  We were here to visit Niagara Falls so location and a basic campground with full hookups was all we were looking for and this campground fit our needs perfectly.  We would stay here again.

    Niagaras Lazy Lakes Camping Resort

    Clean & Friendly

We have camped here several times. Bathrooms are very clean along with the showers. They are cleaned on a daily basis. Store on site has just the bare amenities. Big clubhouse, 2 heated pools and a pond to fish (catch & release). Sites are big. Pet friendly. Staff are very friendly. 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls and close to stores. It does have 2 on site laundry facilities but the dryers take a while. Enjoy going there.

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

An old campsite that fits our needs

This is not a resort campground nor is it a campground built for escapism. It’s very close to Niagara Falls, the Rainbow Bridge (for driving into Canada), and Buffalo, NY.

Mike is very friendly; check in was easy. The sites are full hook up or w/e only. There are pull throughs and back-ins, 30amp and 50amp sites. Your site is assigned once you arrive. You pay a deposit when you book and pay the rest when you arrive.

They have Good Sam and weekly discounts and I was also given a cash/check discount. So our total was $51 a night for a week’s stay.

The sites toward the front are definitely more level and have better cell service, but the sites toward the back are better shaded. Cell service and wifi was enough for me to work during the week and stream at night.

The facilities could use some work. They are very old, and it’s hard to tell if they are clean or just old. Laundry is available - $2.50 a wash/$1.75 a dry.

Basically, don’t expect a beautiful vacation campground. I work full time remotely from the camper. I was able to work during the days and get to Niagara Falls, CAN, and Buffalo quickly after work. Even with the discount, which I’m thankful for, it is overpriced for what it is. But it served my needs, I felt safe, and the owner was friendly so 3 stars. With some TLC to the sites and the facilities, I’d give it 4.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

    Good location

This campground is open year around which is really hard to find in this area. We needed to come here for personal reasons before any other campground was opened. So far this isn’t bad could be better/ cleaner.

It is 50 amp full hook up with free Wi-Fi that doesn’t suck.

The site are paved level back ins and pull throughs

The staff was nice enough. Haven’t had much interaction with him.

There is a great Italian store right across the street and Niagara Falls down the road. I would stay here in a pinch again

Campground is relatively close to scenic drives along Lake Ontario & Niagra State Park, Niagra Falls.

Guide to Depew

RV campgrounds near Depew, New York typically operate from spring through fall, with most closing between late October and early May due to western New York's harsh winter conditions. Located in Erie County, Depew sits at approximately 700 feet elevation and experiences four distinct seasons, with summer highs averaging in the 80s Fahrenheit. Winter storms can drop significant snow accumulations, making early spring camping sites potentially muddy until grounds fully dry.

What to do

Amusement park access: The Six Flags Darien Lake Campground provides convenient access to theme park attractions within walking distance. "Good if you're going to the theme park," notes Brett A., while Cory W. adds, "The walk to the concert venue is long, but flat and easy."

Swimming options: Several campgrounds in the region offer swimming facilities to cool off during summer months. "This campground has lots of amenities like two swimming pools, nice camp store, a large playground, miniature golf, sand volleyball and basketball courts," shares Nancy W. about Southwoods RV Resort.

Farm and rural exploration: The countryside surrounding Depew features agricultural landscapes worth exploring. "The campground is about 20-25 miles from downtown Rochester and located in a quiet rural setting surrounded by farmland," according to a Southwoods RV Resort visitor.

What campers like

What you should know

Site spacing: Many campgrounds in the area feature relatively close quarters. At Skyline RV Resort, one camper notes it's "a little tight if you like to spread out," while another reviewer mentioned about Southwoods RV Resort: "Weekend sites would be pretty tight together if they were fully booked."

Noise considerations: Several campgrounds experience ambient noise from nearby transportation routes. At Niagara Falls Campground & Lodging, Shan Q. reports, "Very convenient with nice workers but likely wouldn't book again. The noises of the town made it very difficult to sleep in our tent. It's right off the main road and nearby trains blared their horns throughout the night."

Seasonal popularity: Booking well ahead for peak periods is essential. "We stayed four nights (which included a weekend) and experienced the park going from half full and quiet to packed with lots of music, all-day fires, and big gatherings," notes one Southwoods RV Resort visitor.

Tips for camping with families

Activity options: Look for campgrounds with multiple recreation facilities. Hope C. shares about Southwoods RV Resort: "2 well kept pools, playgrounds, laundry facilities, mini golf, soccer, basketball. The employees are so helpful and nice!"

Kid-friendly swimming: Pool facilities are important amenities during summer months. The Niagara Falls Grand Island KOA receives praise from Melissa N. who states, "My child had a blast. The tent site wasn't private or fancy but the rest of the facility was great. The pool is awesome."

Theme park packages: Consider campgrounds that offer special deals with attractions. "Unless you're a season ticket holder at Darien Lake, you will be forced to purchase tickets to the Darien Lake amusement park when camping here," notes Cory W. about Six Flags Darien Lake Campground.

Tips from RVers
