Hiking trails: Green Lakes State Park offers miles of trails to explore around its uniquely colored lakes. "There are 2 Great Lakes to hike around with awesome views. Fishing and boat rental if you want to be closer to the water," says Kelly J., who visited Green Lakes State Park Campground.
Casino entertainment: The Villages RV Park provides shuttle service to nearby Turning Stone Casino. "24 hour shuttles to the casino 5 minutes away, yet quiet and beautifully maintained," says April L.
What campers like
Waterfront camping sites: Many campsites at Verona Beach State Park sit directly on Lake Oneida. "We had a waterfront hookup! So pretty especially in the morning with the sunrise," reports Rachelle W. who camped at Verona Beach State Park Campground.
Well-maintained facilities: The campgrounds in this area generally offer clean restrooms and shower facilities. "Bathrooms and showers at these facilities are generally clean and well-maintained," although some require quarters for operation.
Proximity to local attractions: Many campgrounds are within short driving distance to towns and attractions. "Delta Lake is a nice option for those looking to stay close to home and within proximity to civilization. You can enjoy the great outdoors, while only being a few miles away from a restaurant or grocery store," notes Rachel P.
Boat access: Many campgrounds have boat launches or rental options. At Ta-Ga-Soke Campgrounds, a camper noted, "Site was very close to water and boat launch and that was great." Ta-Ga-Soke Campgrounds welcomes pets and offers cabin accommodations.
What you should know
Shower facilities vary: While most campgrounds offer showers, the quality and access differ. At Ta-Ga-Soke, "had to pay with quarters to shower not a problem but inconvenient," reports Tate T.
Site privacy concerns: Some campgrounds offer limited privacy between sites. At Verona Beach, "forget privacy. The campsites are spacious but you're pretty much camping on the same lawn as your neighbors with very few trees in between you," according to Ali T.
Seasonal operations: Most campgrounds in the area operate from late April or early May through mid-October. Treasure Isle RV Park runs from April 28 to October 15 with water and electric hookups at its sites.
Reservation recommendations: Waterfront sites are in high demand. "Hard to get a water site but over nice place," notes a visitor to Delta Lake State Park.

Beach and playground access: Green Lakes State Park offers excellent facilities for children. "Beach for swimming with concession stand with quite a full menu. Beach also has a great playground for kids that is perfect for play and swim," says Kelly J.
Loop selection matters: At Delta Lake State Park, site selection can affect your family experience. "Nice spots in loop C. Loop A is quite open," advises Charles S. from Oneida Shores County Park.
Splash pad options: Verona Beach State Park has added family-friendly water features. "The kids love to hang out at the splash pad and the state recently revamped some of the playgrounds," says Joe D.
Plan for weather: The area can experience significant wind, especially near larger lakes. "We attempted to set up near the lake, but found the wind to be overwhelming. We ended up in the corner site by the woods," advises Thomas M.
Tips from RVers
Full hookup availability: The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone offers complete services for RVers. "All sites are full hookups (I think) and paved. Definitely geared towards the RV or trailer crowd," notes Michael O. from The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone.
Easy access: Many campgrounds provide pull-through sites for larger rigs. "We scheduled a pull through for 1 night last minute due to an unexpected change in plans. We have a Class A motorhome and flat tow a Jeep. The campground was beautiful and easy to get in and out of," shares Jen O.
Site levelness: Most RV sites in the area are reported to be level and well-maintained. "Spacious, mostly flat sides. Complete shade and a lot of sites right on the water," reports Marlene H.
Electric upgrades: Some parks have recently added or upgraded electrical service. "The park has a boat ramp, beach, some easy hiking, and recently added electricity to all the sites," notes Eric G.
