RV campgrounds near Bellerose Terrace range from waterfront sites with full hookups to pull-through sites with 30-amp service, covering options from urban stopovers to seasonal parks. Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City offers 90 sites with electric, water hookups, and sanitary dump facilities. Sites accommodate big rigs with full utility connections including 30 and 50-amp service. Nickerson Beach Park Campground in Lido Beach provides RV sites from April to November with water hookups and 50-amp electric service, while Turkey Swamp Park in Freehold Township features 30-amp service and pull-through sites. Skyline RV Camp operates two locations - a waterfront option with 20 sites and a non-waterfront location with 28 sites, both offering electric hookups and accommodating larger vehicles. "Liberty Harbor is literally a parking lot with water and electric hookups, and larger rigs will barely have a yard. The $120 price per night is ridiculous, but being that they have no competitors in the area, RVers wanting a quick escape to see NYC can get it here."

Access to RV parks near Bellerose Terrace can be challenging with parkways throughout Long Island imposing height restrictions. According to one visitor, "Google Maps doesn't have an option for large vehicles so I made my way manually, and the trip took an extra hour to arrive than planned." Most parks require reservations, especially during summer months and holiday weekends. Cell service is generally reliable across the region, with multiple reviewers noting good reception at Liberty Harbor and Turkey Swamp. Pet policies vary - Military Park NJ National Guard Training Center does not allow pets, while most other facilities welcome them. Dump stations are available at several locations including Beaver Pond Campground, though some parks like Skyline RV Camp lack this amenity. Winter camping options are limited, with many facilities closing between November and April.

      Blydenburgh County Park

      Big Rig Camping in Blydenburgh

We have a 42 ft 5th wheel toy hauler. A few Big Rig spots are available, but this is a Suffock Co Campground that is not well maintained. 2 miles of the Road have many areas of missing blacktop making a very rough ride with low branches. The dump station is basically not accessible to a big rig. Most of the longer sites were very difficult to level.

      Mahlon Dickerson Reservation

      Nice, small, spacious campground

We stayed at site 15 for 5 days. The sites are nicely wooded, very well spaced, fairly level with 50A service and water hookup. Although the water spigots were shared between sites, they provide hose caddies that should reach most RV hookups. No sewer hookup, but there is a convenient dump station. There are no fire rings in the RV section, only raised grills. We had the place pretty much to ourselves during the week, but the weekend did get busy. AT&T had ok data connection with 1-2 bars most of the time. There is no satellite coverage due to the heavy tree canopy. OTA TV was very inconsistent using an external omni antenna. There is no WiFi. There is a very nice network of trails in the reservation, most if not all were leashed dog friendly. There is a very nice restaurant, Stone Water, less than 10 miles away and is right on lake Hopatcong.

      Turkey Swamp Park

      Quiet Woodland Campground

Turkey Swamp Park is a great find! Heavily wooded and supremely quiet, it’s located not far from anywhere you’d want to be. 30 minutes to the shore. Every site is a pull-through, large and spacious with great woodland views. 30amp and water. Dump station.

The park has miles of shady forested trails for hiking and dog walking. there’s a large lake here too, for water based recreational activities.

The bathrooms, showers, and laundry are co-located in a centrally situated structure. Everything inside is clean and well-maintained.

We’ve got good cell signal with Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint. (We use all three.) Good OTA television signal also.

We spent three days here in July 2021.

Military Park NJ National Guard Training Center RV Sites

      Quiet, spacious, no frills

We stayed in site #1 with our 21' travel trailer. In our opinion this is the best site because you have an unobstructed view of Stockton Lake & the horizon over the ocean. Big rig spots are further back (around site 6-9 or so). 9 sites total & they are often booked, so need to do so in advance. Free beach just a few moments' walk down the road. Close to shore towns & many restaurants. Plenty of space for kids to play in the field/grass area. TONS of geese everywhere though. Pets are NOT allowed (but they'd probably help w the geese problem). You get access to the showers with a key card and when you check in, but I don't have anything to report as I used the bathroom/shower in our trailer. Price is great at $45/night. FULL hookups as well. Only annoying thing was the sewer hookup is about 18 inches off the ground so you need to lift the hose when emptying the tanks to ensure it actually fully drains.

      Turkey Swamp Park

      large wooded sites

This campground has all pull-through sites. Nicely wooded with water and electric. Be sure to bring extra hose because the water spigot is a distance from the electric. sites are level and well maintained. They also allowed us to put the car tent on the same site as a friend's camper. There's a nice lake to kayak or paddle boat on. each site has a fire pit, picnic table and garbage can

      Heckscher State Park Campground

      Great Late Fall Weekend Cabin

This was a last-minute booking for us and we were delighted with the beachside cottage, with enough amenities that mom and dad did not worry we had their cutie with us for "camping". She's too little for backpacking into the woods but finally got to stay overnight and help with the campfire!

      Pros

      • Modern facility with full kitchen accessories (coffee maker, plates, wine opener, can opener, silverware, pots, pans, cooking utensils, toaster, oven), sponge/dish liquid. Microwave.1
      • Clean interior, clean campground
      • modern cottage with propane fireplace, WiFi access, bathroom with shower, large screened in porch with bar height table and 4 chairs, deck with chaise lounges, two bedrooms (1 with 2 twin beds, 1 with full), coach, chairs, plenty of clean storage places and hooks. You have everything but bedding, food, drinks, and personal items.
      • cottages far enough away from each other
      • fire ring with Adirondack chairs
      • dumpster and recycling within walking distance
      • lots of bone dry firewood around for campfire
      • walkable beach
      • beautiful
      • wildlife: deer, rabbits, turtles

      Cons

      • a bit pricey
      • playground is driving distance not walking

      Mahlon Dickerson Reservation

      Great little campground

Mahlon Dickerson Campground is a true gem. It is a small campground nestled in the woods. There are level padded sites with electric and water (in warmer months). Sites were spaced out with beautiful woods in the background. Hiking trail goes right through the campground. There is a bathroom with showers that is heated in the colder months. There is a water spigot at the bathrooms to fill up your water tanks. Dump station also on site. Each site has a nice picnic table and fire ring. I really enjoyed this campground and would go back again.

      New York City North/Newburgh KOA

      Quiet, off-season, mid-week retreat

We stayed here on a Thursday night in September prior to taking off backpacking. The campground was clean and quiet. RV hook-ups, tent platforms, and rustic tent sites were available. Our rustic tent site had a few good options for pitching a tent, as well as picnic table and fire ring.

Ranger said that during summer weekends the grounds fill up and can be quite noisy, but mid-week during the off-season it was great. Expect to purchase firewood, although scrounging for kindling was possible. Facilities were clean and what you'd expect from a campground.

      Would definitely return!!

      Pine Cone Resort

DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER STAYING HERE

If I could review this with a negative star, I would... We spoke to personnel when we made reservations, and were promised a pull through, full hook up that would fit my truck and 34' trailer. Far from that, we could not open our awnings, and site was far from level. Let alone we can not pull through fully. Worst site we have ever been on. Dirty, holes in road, mud everywhere, tree limbs falling on my new truck and new trailer. Garbage in fire pit that they would not clean and dog poop on our site. To make it worse I am disabled with lung disease, and I had truck squeezed on our site, hanging over on empty site next door. Owner called threatening to have me arrested, charge me for 2nd site and demanded we leave campground immediately. What a joke! I would never ever stay here again. BTW, WiFi and cable don't work at all. $62.50 a night is ridiculous.

    Guide to Bellerose Terrace

RV camping options near Bellerose Terrace, New York exist despite Long Island's challenging terrain for larger vehicles. The area sits at low elevation, generally under 100 feet above sea level, with predominantly flat topography that transitions to gentle hills in western Nassau County. The region experiences moderate precipitation year-round, with humid summers averaging 85°F and mild winters rarely dropping below 25°F.

    What to do

Lake activities at Turkey Swamp Park: The 64-site park in Freehold Township offers fishing, kayaking and canoeing opportunities with boat rentals available in summer. "There is a lake with a boat dock and a small boardwalk. In the summer, canoe, kayak, paddle boats, and row boats are available for rental," notes Lee D., who visited Turkey Swamp Park in spring 2025.

Beach access near campgrounds: Nickerson Beach Park Campground provides direct beach access for RV campers. "Right on the beach! Great spot to camp at if the waves are pumping at Lido Beach on Long Island," shares Michael K. from his stay at Nickerson Beach Park Campground. The campground allows dogs but restricts them from the beach area.

Hiking opportunities: Harriman State Park offers numerous trail options near their campground. "The trails in the area are friendly to hikers, bikers, and the non arthritic kneers, as most are rated moderate to challenging. Don't fret, trails that are rated easy and accessible to disabled are equally enjoyable and beautiful," explains Steve W. who visited Beaver Pond Campground in September 2019.

    What campers like

Privacy and space between sites: Many campgrounds near Bellerose Terrace offer well-spaced sites. "The campground is small but also secluded. We always hike to the lake here, it's a very easy hike and also very peaceful," writes Paulene-Amanda M. about her experience at Mahlon Dickerson Reservation where sites have electric and water hookups.

Clean facilities: Battle Row Campground maintains high standards for its amenities. "This was my first time camping here and I was amazed at how clean the sites were & quiet the campground was. The camp office workers are SO friendly and helpful. The sites have provided electric and water and are kept so clean. They have shower and restroom facilities, the showers were amazing and also so clean!" reports Lexis N.

Proximity to NYC: Several camping options allow quick access to New York City attractions. "This is a pricey park, but options are limited. As in almost non existent. This is a prime location for visiting the city or heading down the shore. The light rail is a block away, and the path train is about 8," explains Joe R. who stayed at Liberty Harbor RV Park in March 2025.

    What you should know

Seasonal availability: Many campgrounds close during winter months. "Turkey Swamp is a great spot, a lot of different things to do. Fishing, Tent Camp, Van Camping, Open Field, BBQ, Kayaking, Canoeing. The list goes on," shares Tylen L. who visited in November 2024, but the park officially operates April through mid-November.

Wildlife concerns: Ticks and bears can be issues at some locations. "By the 2nd day I had 3 ticks on me. My dog had one and by the end my husband had 2. That was so crazy because we were just sitting by our camper," warns Laura Y. about her experience at Turkey Swamp Park in May 2025.

Changing locations: Some campgrounds may relocate or change without website updates. "Be advised that Skyline RV Camp has moved to: 50 Noble St, Brooklyn, NY 11222. The original property location at 2 Oak St was sold and is now private property... There no longer is a waterfront view of the NYC skyline when camping at Skyline RV. The website views are misleading," cautions John T. who visited Skyline RV Camp in August 2024.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Several campgrounds feature playground equipment. "They have these 12x12 platforms to put your tent on. This was pretty cool especially since some of the sites are all gravel with surrounding dirt. The sites are very large and I suggest site 7," recommends Christina L. about her birthday trip to Mahlon Dickerson Reservation.

Educational opportunities: Proximity to historic sites enhances family camping experiences. "About 30 minutes from sleepy hollow and tarrytown NY and only an hour to central park!! Deer running everywhere and surprisingly beautiful and quaint," mentions Megan B. from her visit to Beaver Pond Campground.

Off-season benefits: Consider visiting popular sites during shoulder seasons. "We went camping with our 2- and 3-year-old kids. We were worried about bugs, but we didn't even use mosquito repellent and didn't get a single bite! The campground was super clean too. It was perfect!" reports Jaewook P. after a late summer trip to Turkey Swamp Park.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection strategies: Choose end sites for more space at crowded campgrounds. "Pick one of the larger end row sites to get a little extra elbow room. If it's packed, your neighbor with be within inches of your rig," advises Keith and Tia S. about staying at Liberty Harbor RV Park.

Military options: NWS Earle RV Park offers affordable options for eligible military personnel. "Small campground W/ 8 spaces in the main area and 7 in an adjacent area. All spaces are level concrete With fill hookups and attached concrete patio. Power is at the far back & sewage is in the middle (left to right). A longer camper will be parked over the sewage connection," details Jeffrey from his stay at NWS Earle RV Park.

Hookup positioning: Be prepared for unusual utility placement at some rv campgrounds near Bellerose Terrace. "Very clean and quiet. Website lists water hook ups at long distances but they have hose reels to help with that. Our site (15) said 75' however the 50' hose reel made it to our rv connection," notes a reviewer about their experience at Mahlon Dickerson Reservation.
