Best Cabin Camping near Bath, NY

Cabins at campgrounds near Bath, New York feature various levels of amenities depending on the location and price point. Hickory Hill Camping Resort and Camp Bell Campground offer cabin accommodations with electric hookups, while Babcock Hollow Campground provides rentals with more furnished options. "The owners are very nice and helpful. It is mostly occupied by regulars but the rental sites are close to the very clean bathrooms and showers," notes a visitor about Camp Bell Campground. Most cabin sites include access to central bathhouse facilities with hot showers and flush toilets, though private bathrooms inside cabins are less common. Creekside Cabin offers a more secluded experience with electric hookups but more limited amenities compared to the resort-style options.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Ferenbaugh Campground has cabins near their fishing pond and swimming pool, while Tumble Hill Campground offers more basic accommodations. Reservations are essential during peak season from May through October when most campgrounds operate. Many cabins allow pets with additional fees or restrictions. Cabin sizes vary from small one-room structures to multi-room family accommodations. A review of Camp Bell Campground mentions, "We stayed in the cabins. Bathrooms were clean. Had a pool and playground. Friendly staff."

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and personal items. Kitchen facilities vary significantly between properties - some offer only outdoor fire rings with picnic tables while others include small refrigerators or microwaves. Campground stores at locations like Hickory Hill and Ferenbaugh stock basic supplies, firewood, and snacks. The Ferenbaugh Campground store carries "grocery necessities, camping necessities, snacks and Hershey ice cream," according to a camper review. Plan to bring cooking equipment, bedding, and food supplies, though some items can be purchased at campground stores or in nearby towns.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

A little gem with a lot to do

Cabin campers here at letchworth for the past two years. We stumbled on cabin camping at letchworth due to weekends being booked for almost the entire summer for tent spots. the cabins are spacious, with bunk beds, a stove, fridge, and a fire place. i thought they might be close together, yet they were all pretty private, with a fire ring and picnic table. There was a beautiful updated playground, and clean bathrooms. Last summer they had just opened the new nature center with guided hikes, and activities all summer long.

Great for the falls, swimming, hiking, white water rafting, kayaking and so much more!

    Retreat at Fern Hill

    Clean, private, swimming!

Stayed here multiple times. Cabin is clean, large firepit, huge patio, great swimming pond with a slide. Cabin included many kitchen items as well as there being a full size freezer/fridge, tables and chairs on the patio. Pet Friendly but no fenced area.

    Watkins Glen State Park Campground

Watkins Glen State Park, New York

Campers arriving at Watkins Glen State Park are immediately captivated by its dramatic gorge scenery, where 19 waterfalls cascade through narrow stone walls. Their campsites are nestled among hardwood forests, offering a perfect balance of sunlit clearings and shady retreats. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, making it easy to prepare meals after a day spent exploring the park’s famous Gorge Trail. The park’s facilities blend rustic charm with modern comforts: clean flush toilets, hot-water showers, and convenient potable water stations. Hiking enthusiasts appreciate the interconnected trail system, which includes the popular Rim Trail for elevated views of the gorge, as well as more secluded footpaths through hemlock groves. Families particularly enjoy the nearby swimming pool and easy-access picnic areas overlooking Seneca Lake. To simplify travel logistics for out-of-state visitors, many campers opt to pre-book an airport transfer so they can arrive at Ithaca or Elmira–Corning Regional Airport and head straight to the park without the hassle of car rentals. Those planning to explore multiple stops along the Finger Lakes often choose the provider’s reliable city-to-city rides for comfortable, door-to-door transportation between destinations. All in all, Watkins Glen State Park delivers an unforgettable combination of awe-inspiring gorge hikes, well-appointed campsites, and family-friendly amenities. Campers seeking both adventure and relaxation will find this New York treasure hard to surpass.

    Hills Creek State Park Campground

Well established and popular- perfect for groups

This is one of the main attractions for the area. Locals come here when the weather is nice.

We stayed in yurts, which are round tents ($38 per night). We had a cozy wooden deck and slept four people in two bunk beds. We also had a cooking stove, refrigerator, heat and electricity.

There is plenty of fishing and hiking to go around.

Really recommend this campsite if you have a little extra money to spend and are looking for a light getaway with friends.

If you're looking for a secluded place for yourself or with a loved one, I would look around the area for a less-popular campsite.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Beautiful place

Letchworth is absolutely stunning. The views are beautiful, however the scenic areas are at least a 10 minute drive from the campground. The park is massive.

There is a huge variation in site sizes. We lucked out and got a large site with privacy and an area for the kids to run around, however the site directly across from us was little more than the gravel pad and fire pit. Some of the sites are right on top of each other. Great for group camping, not so much if you want any privacy.

Only two out of the 8 loops (200 and 700 loops) have updated bathrooms (single toilet with handheld showers in half of the bathrooms). The others loops have older facilities with three traditional toilet stalls and two showers.

We loved our site but would’ve preferred to stay in a loop with the updated bath houses as we have younger children and a tent trailer.

All sites have electricity. Some loops are pet friendly, some are pet free. The camp store has a good selection of necessities, albeit expensive for discount brands. The pool is 4-5 miles down the road from the camping area.

    Would absolutely camp here again.

    Flint Creek Campgrounds

Great activities, friendly hosts, full hook ups!

Close to wine country you will find this gem of a family campground. Dog and kid friendly with activities such as wagon rides, arts and crafts, movie night and various themed weekend events. The hosts were super friendly and welcoming during our entire stay. An easy back in site with full hookups (B10) backed against a row of trees and a field that provided much entertainment of squirrels and birds. There is a camp store with very reasonable prices and accepts credit cards. Wood ($4) and ice ($2) are also for sale. There are two small cabins to rent along with a couple of family tent sites. The bathrooms/showers were clean near the camp store. Amenities include a pool, mini golf ($1/person), two playgrounds, horseshoes, a recreation center with games and movies, basketball and shuffle board. There are many seasonal campers at this campground, but all seemed friendly and welcoming as well. It truly seemed like one big happy family there.

What to do

Gorge hiking trails: Watkins Glen State Park Campground offers access to multiple waterfall trails. "I stay here usually once or twice a year and spend my weekends hiking the various gorge trails nearby. Tent camping is nice here. The sites are good sized, they offer cabins as well," notes Deb S.

Swimming options: Stony Brook State Park Campground features a natural swimming area carved from the mountain. "This park is beautiful and has a unique swimming area- a 'pool' carved from the mountain! There are lots of paths and picnic areas, as well as beautiful hiking trails and creeks to cool off in," explains Kayti D.

Fishing opportunities: Stay at cabins near stocked ponds where fishing is available without leaving the property. "Lots of Trees and Shade OR Plenty of Grass and Sun; whichever is your preference, they have you covered! Pool, Fishing Pond, Pavilion with Bands and Activities, Mini Golf, Camp Store.... Pretty laid back park in a beautiful area," shares Nicole D. about Ferenbaugh Campground.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Watkins Glen / Corning KOA maintains well-kept bathrooms and showers. "This was a HUGE KOA campground! There was a lot to do, but we only stayed 1 night & got back on the road. We stayed in a small cabin (w/ bathroom). The weather was great, so we had a great view of the forest around us & the sky was amazing!" reports KA W.

Family activities: Many cabin sites include recreational amenities. "A lot of free amenities. Fun for families of all ages," states Ame W. about Hickory Hill Camping Resort.

Natural surroundings: Letchworth State Park Campground offers scenic views along with cabin stays. "Wandering around the gorge is so beautiful and relaxing the views and sights inside the park are amazing, it's almost like another world at times. Sites were nice, the area we were in was a little too open for our liking, but in a park with this kind of scenery it was fine because we didn't spend a lot of time at the camper," shares Jason.

What you should know

Seasonal operation: Most camping cabins near Bath are only available from May through October. "The bathrooms are clean and well lit at night. This is definitely a large family area. Expect to hear your neighbors once and a while," mentions Deb S. about Watkins Glen State Park.

Water quality varies: Some locations have issues with water quality. "I actually bought a dual stage water filter and change it every two weeks," notes Gary V. about his stay at Ferenbaugh Campground, adding that "their water is very smelly and brown."

Reservation needs: Camp Bell Campground and other popular sites fill up quickly, especially on summer weekends. "Nice place. Has plenty of close by attractions. Kids enjoyed the the big playground and mini arcade. Has a large pool for swimming and fun activities," states Nick O.

Tips for camping with families

Playgrounds and pools: Look for cabins at campgrounds with dedicated children's areas. "This camp keeps the kids and dogs busy!! The pool is clean and looks great. Hot showers and clean bathrooms," reports Scott H. about Camp Bell Campground.

Noise considerations: Expect varying noise levels depending on location. "This camp is full of nice people. Lots of dogs are here, and they bark all day and start again at 6:30 am," adds Scott H., providing important information for light sleepers.

Pet policies: Creekside Cabin and several other locations allow pets with specific guidelines. "This creekside cabin has all the seclusion you need for a proper escape into nature. They also have a tower you can climb for even better views from within the forests!" explains Jake C.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: When booking camping cabins near Bath, check for level sites and hookup options. "Campsites are great and are all tree lined giving to a bit of privacy. As much as you get in campgrounds," Lindsay C. shares about Watkins Glen State Park.

Utility hookups: Electricity is standard at most cabins, but other amenities vary. "Site 11c" had issues with "slow sewer," according to Rick K. at Ferenbaugh Campground, which could be important for those choosing cabins with bathrooms.

Road conditions: Interior roads at some campgrounds can be challenging. "We stayed in a 30 ft. motorhome, and the roads within the campground were kind of tight to get through with trees and curves," cautions Laura L. about Watkins Glen State Park Campground.
