    Evangola State Park Campground

Some Sites Have a View of Lake Erie

    Unfortunately, my site did not.

However, my site wasn't crowded and the electricity was reliable. This campground has three loops. One has 30 amp power, one has 50 amp power (with a 30 amp outlet on the same pedestal) and the third loop is for tent camping. There are several places to get water in the camp, so be sure to fill up your tanks before you park. There is a dump station. None of the sites are full hook up.

Each site has a picnic table and a grill.

There are two bath houses. The newer one - between loops one and three - also has laundry facilities.

Your payment for your campsite entitles you to admission to the beach, which is a hike or a drive away.

Four Mile Creek State Park Campground

    Simple campground on Lake Ontario

We stayed here because it was near Niagara Falls and had site availability. We stayed at a non-electric campsite (mid-June). There were 4 other campsites occupied in our area. We have a camper van with solar power and fresh water. There is a shower in the non-electric section but it's not heated water. Since it's June, the temperature was only mildly shocking to my senses. However, the rest of the showers in the campground are heated (we checked). There are at least two laundry facilities. I actually exchanged cash for quarters at the front office. The grounds are well maintained. Beware of the resident skunk that walks around. I didn't test the cell signal here but I was able to work remotely and video chat.

    Cinderella Motel & Campsite

Basic, Convenient, VFM (value for money)

This campground is very basic with very close campsites.  The bathhouse and laundry are old but clean.  The staff were very friendly and helpful.  It is very close to Niagara falls and for the money it is the best campground here.  KOA and Branches CGs are nicer but they are also triple the price which for us did not seem worth it.  We were in a back in gravel site that backed up to the motel which may not seem that nice but the electric, water and sewer worked perfectly.  Our 40 foot MH and Toad fit with room to spare.  There were sites that were on the outskirts of the property that backed to the woods which some people may prefer.  Those sites were just as close although there were several that would take big rigs bit don't expect to open your awnings in most sites.   There is a nice grassy area in the center with a small covered pavilion.   There are a few sites on the side/front of Motel.  We were here to visit Niagara Falls so location and a basic campground with full hookups was all we were looking for and this campground fit our needs perfectly.  We would stay here again.

    Niagaras Lazy Lakes Camping Resort

    Clean & Friendly

We have camped here several times. Bathrooms are very clean along with the showers. They are cleaned on a daily basis. Store on site has just the bare amenities. Big clubhouse, 2 heated pools and a pond to fish (catch & release). Sites are big. Pet friendly. Staff are very friendly. 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls and close to stores. It does have 2 on site laundry facilities but the dryers take a while. Enjoy going there.

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

An old campsite that fits our needs

This is not a resort campground nor is it a campground built for escapism. It’s very close to Niagara Falls, the Rainbow Bridge (for driving into Canada), and Buffalo, NY.

Mike is very friendly; check in was easy. The sites are full hook up or w/e only. There are pull throughs and back-ins, 30amp and 50amp sites. Your site is assigned once you arrive. You pay a deposit when you book and pay the rest when you arrive.

They have Good Sam and weekly discounts and I was also given a cash/check discount. So our total was $51 a night for a week’s stay.

The sites toward the front are definitely more level and have better cell service, but the sites toward the back are better shaded. Cell service and wifi was enough for me to work during the week and stream at night.

The facilities could use some work. They are very old, and it’s hard to tell if they are clean or just old. Laundry is available - $2.50 a wash/$1.75 a dry.

Basically, don’t expect a beautiful vacation campground. I work full time remotely from the camper. I was able to work during the days and get to Niagara Falls, CAN, and Buffalo quickly after work. Even with the discount, which I’m thankful for, it is overpriced for what it is. But it served my needs, I felt safe, and the owner was friendly so 3 stars. With some TLC to the sites and the facilities, I’d give it 4.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

    Good location

This campground is open year around which is really hard to find in this area. We needed to come here for personal reasons before any other campground was opened. So far this isn’t bad could be better/ cleaner.

It is 50 amp full hook up with free Wi-Fi that doesn’t suck.

The site are paved level back ins and pull throughs

The staff was nice enough. Haven’t had much interaction with him.

There is a great Italian store right across the street and Niagara Falls down the road. I would stay here in a pinch again

Arrived late at night to this established site. This is a mixed accommodation campground with established long term residents & short term sites.

Some sites include a table, power access and tire rim for fire-ring. Showers & flushing toilets are near RV sites in back area. Small camp store, swimming pond & fishing pond. Manager, Christine very nice & helpful.

Campground is relatively close to scenic drives along Lake Ontario & Niagra State Park, Niagra Falls.

Guide to Amherst

RV parks near Amherst, New York provide convenient access to attractions in both the Buffalo metro area and the nearby Niagara region, with most campgrounds operating seasonally from spring through fall due to the area's harsh winters. The area features moderate summer temperatures averaging 70-80°F, making it ideal for camping from May through September. Western New York's combination of flat terrain and proximity to Lakes Erie and Ontario creates unique camping conditions with occasional evening cooling even during summer months.

What to do

Visit Niagara Falls year-round: Located about 30 minutes from Amherst, the Falls remain accessible even during cooler months. "We timed our visit well, the park was pretty empty in mid-October but the weather was still nice," noted a Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday visitor.

Explore Darien Lake Theme Park: Adjacent to some campgrounds in the region, this amusement park offers family entertainment. "There is a lot of activity for kids which a theme park being nearby," mentions a camper who stayed at Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA.

Book guided tours directly from campgrounds: Some RV parks offer convenience for sightseeing. "You can schedule tours of the falls in the office. Tour bus stops at office," explains a camper at Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA.

Discover Le Roy's unusual claim to fame: When staying at RV parks southwest of Amherst, consider visiting a unique local attraction. "Close to the birthplace of Jello," notes a camper at frost ridge RV park.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Many Amherst area RV parks maintain good standards. "Bathrooms were very clean. Quiet campground," reports a visitor at Southwoods RV Resort.

Multiple swimming options: Several campgrounds offer refreshing amenities during summer months. "They have two pools but close really early," mentions a camper at Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday, while another visitor to Southwoods noted, "2 well kept pools, playgrounds, laundry facilities, mini golf, soccer, basketball."

Family-friendly environments: RV campgrounds near Amherst often cater to families with children. "Family friendly park, lots of activities, park hosts/owners are hands on and awesome," writes a Southwoods RV Resort visitor.

Strong connectivity: Unlike more remote camping areas, Amherst area RV parks often provide reliable tech amenities. "Internet is really good and has been upgraded recently with 2 G and 5G access," according to a review from Niagara Falls Campground & Lodging.

What you should know

Site conditions vary significantly: While many campgrounds advertise level sites, actual conditions differ. "Level gravel sites. Sites are close together, but not busy now, so not a problem," noted one camper at Niagara Falls Campground & Lodging.

Some campgrounds feel urban: The proximity to Buffalo means some sites lack a natural feel. "It still rather felt like a 'side of a busy road' campground. The view from the pool was a industrial building," mentioned a Niagara Falls Campground & Lodging reviewer.

Noise can be an issue for tent campers: The area's proximity to highways and railways creates challenges for light sleepers. "The noises of the town made it very difficult to sleep in our tent. It's right off the main road and nearby trains blared their horns throughout the night," shared a camper at Niagara Falls Campground & Lodging.

Seasonal residents dominate some parks: Many RV parks near Amherst have long-term occupants. "Geared toward more seasonal campers," noted a visitor at Red Rock Ponds RV Resort, while another described it as "Appears more for permanent campers."

Tips for camping with families

Look for dedicated kid-friendly amenities: Some campgrounds have extensive options for children. "The pool is awesome," mentioned a Skyline RV Resort visitor, while at Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday, families appreciate "jump pad. Friendly staff."

Check for field space: Active children need room to play. "Lots of plays areas for kids. Weekend sites would be pretty tight together if they were fully booked," advised a Southwoods visitor.

Consider weekday stays during summer: Peak seasons can mean crowded conditions, especially in family-oriented parks. "We stayed four nights (which included a weekend) and experienced the park going from half full and quiet to packed with lots of music, all-day fires, and big gatherings," reported a Southwoods camper.

Verify pool hours: Swimming facilities may have limited availability. "They have two pools but close really early," noted a visitor at Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday.

Tips from RVers

Pay attention to site surfaces: Most RV parks in the Amherst region use gravel pads. "The water pressure and electric were good. Most of the roads in the park are paved with the exception of the pull-thru section in the front of the park which is gravel," detailed a camper at Southwoods.

Consider specialized service locations: Some RV parks offer practical services. "I found everything I needed to complete my list of needs for my trailer," mentioned a visitor at Gander RV of Buffalo.

Avoid downtown Buffalo with larger rigs: Route planning matters when approaching campgrounds. "Note: if you are coming in from the southern side, DO NOT GO THROUGH DOWNTOWN BUFFALO like we did! PAY THE TOLLS!" warned a Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA camper.

Expect premium pricing during peak season: Rates at Amherst area RV parks reflect their tourist destination status. "This park anywhere else would be a $40-45 park. We think $75.00 after taxes was excessive," noted a visitor at Niagara Falls Campground & Lodging.
