Bulls Island State Park (CLOSED)

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Bulls Island State Park's campground has permanently closed, though the day-use area remains open for recreation along the Delaware River. This boat-in access site sits within Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park, requiring watercraft to reach the island itself.

The park maintains a boat launch on the mainland and provides access to fishing spots along both the Delaware River and the adjacent canal. "NJ stocks the canal with 10,000 plus trout every year, so good fishing!" notes one angler. A footbridge spans the Delaware River, connecting visitors to the actual island formed by a small waterway that branches off and rejoins the main river.

Day visitors find picnic areas and hiking trails, though the compact size limits extended stays. Restroom facilities serve the area, and the location works well as a launching point for kayaking trips. The park's position offers access to places to camp near Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park for those seeking overnight options in the region.

While camping is no longer available here, the site continues to draw boaters and anglers drawn to the stocked canal and river access. The island setting provides a unique day trip destination for those comfortable with boat-based access.

Right on the Delaware River

There isn't a campground at this location, but the park is nice. It's right on the Delaware river in Stockton, NJ. They have a nice boat launch and some good fishing spots but the park itself is small if you wanted to make a weekend out of it. I took one star away because the bathrooms were out of toilet paper, but otherwise a good place for a day trip or picnic.

There is actually and island because there is a small waterway that breaks off of the river and then back into the river.
