Best RV Parks & Resorts near East Merrimack, NH

Multiple RV parks near East Merrimack offer full hookup sites with varying amenities. Tuxbury Pond RV Campground in South Hampton provides electric, water, and sewer hookups with sites open from April 28 to October 15. Sandy Beach Campground in Contoocook features spacious sites for RVs including big rigs, with complete hookup options. Hidden Valley RV and Golf Park in Derry accommodates large motorhomes with 50-amp service and sewer connections on level sites. Many parks have gravel pads rather than concrete, with varying degrees of privacy between sites. "The roads in the park are fairly narrow and we had to drive over the grass across from our site in order to back in. Lucky for us nobody was parked in that site."

Dump stations are available at most RV parks in the region, though not all offer this service on-site. Cell service varies considerably throughout the area, with AT&T and Verizon typically providing 2-4 bars at most locations. Most parks close for winter, operating between May and October, with Beach Rose RV Park in Salisbury Beach remaining open until November 15. Pet policies differ between parks—while most allow pets, some enforce restrictions on certain breeds or sizes. Seasonal campers occupy significant portions of several parks, particularly at Forest Lake and Seacoast Camping and RV Resort, leaving limited availability for transient RVers during peak summer months. One visitor noted that "half of the park is seasonal campers which is a lot more cramped and more junked up, and the other half is for transients."

    Turtle Kraal RV Park

5 star RV campground - all the amenities and well cared for!

Turtle Kraal RV campground is a gated RV campground just outside Alton Bay NH.  Lots of great restaurants, ice cream shops and water activities are nearby!

The sign was easy to spot, right off the road, GPS leading us right to the entrance.  There is a long approach after you see the sign, and even a sharp turn before you see the gate.  We met the man at the gate (with his incredibly enormous husky) and provided us all the information we needed.  This campground has wifi, good cell signal (AT&T and Verizon), a great pool, is pet friendly and well maintained.  The bathhouse and pool were both very clean, and for as many RV's that were there - that was amazing!  Each site has a firepit and a picnic table - though many sites have additions and build for an extended stay!

This campground is huge - there is a lower loop and an upper loop with the bathhouse and pool right in the center.  Kids can ride their bikes around both loops, walk the dogs, play cornhole or horseshoes, etc.  Trash is well maintained, with enough dumpsters for the amount of campers they could hold at capacity.  They also have firewood for sale on your way in, so you don't have to chase a campground host or a little golf cart - you can buy what you need on your way back.  This is a very family friendly campground about an hour and a half north of Boston and about the same from the Whites.  A great base-camp for amazing days on Lake Winnipesauke!!

    Spacious Skies French Pond

Comes with a surprise French Pond

The campground has a gravel area at the sites where the fire ring and picnic tables are. Where we parked our trailer was some gravel sand and dirt. We were at the end of a lane, backing in was fine we are small, 21 feet including tongue, we fit fine. Great site across from a beach, on French Pond I’m guessing is at least 25 acres. Most of the sights are long term. Camp was pretty much full, even then it was quiet. Restroom closed to covid, some campgrounds kept them open and just cleaned more. Well no complaint here we’re self contained. Some areas could use some tidying up. Still I would gladly stay here again.

Bayside Is The Place To Be

Winter Island Park Campground: (Scale 1- bad, 5-Very good (70 yr olds in 17’ trailer). Price 2023: $42 Usage during visit: 100% full because of October celebration in Salem. Site Privacy: None Site Spacing: Very close Site surface: Grass, gravel, and blacktop Reservations: Required Campground Noise: Quiet Road Noise: Not near a major road. Through Traffic in campground: Some traffic down to parking lot. Electric Hookup: Yes Sewer Hookup: No. Dump Station: Yes Potable Water Available: At the site. Generators: I think all trailer sites have electrical hookups. Bathroom: Yes - old. Showers: Yes - old style. Dressing area is not private. Pull Throughs: All are back in. The RV Field area is only good as a convenient spot to visit nearby Salem attractions or Boston (1 hr plus drive through heavy traffic).

    Forest Lake Campgrounds

Weekend stay, lots of seasonal camping

Site was clean, easy to get in/out with 21' travel trailer. Swimming at the beach wasn't inviting. Lots of seasonal campers with years of lawn ornaments. There was a sense of the campground being clicky place. Pet friendly. Mixed emotions....

    Seacoast Camping and RV Resort

Nice, clean campground in a good location

We really liked this park! It was clean, very well cared for, supper nice people and a decent price ($43/night) for camping in coastal New England. The park recently added new 50 amp full hook-up sites(some of which are pull-thrus) so there are plenty of options for big-rigs. Half of the park is seasonal campers(which is a lot more cramped and more junked up) and the other half is for transients. The two sides are separated by a tree line where the tent sites are located. The park is in a good location and pretty close to the beach, restaurants, shopping and access to Route 1. You are also just twenty minutes or so to Portsmouth and Newburyport which are some of our favorite New England coastal towns.

Our site (#124) was one of the new sites which they had just completed. It was a gravel back-in which was plenty long and level. They recently seeded the area so new grass was starting to grow. The roads in the park are fairly narrow and we had to drive over the grass across from our site in order to back in. Lucky for us nobody was parked in that site. We hate driving over grass as our coach can really make some ruts, but we had no choice in this situation. The ground was dry and hard so we didn’t make deep ruts. The park does not have cable and we were not able to get reception on our satellite because of the trees and could not get any over-the-air channels. No television was fine because we enjoyed sitting by a campfire after our long day of exploring. We had a picnic table that was kind of small if you had 4-6 people but fine for just two of us. Our firepit was a light weight portable one which we could move. The older sites had heavy fire rings that were not to be moved. None of the sites have a lot of space between them and I bet this park could feel quite cramped when it was full. We were there in the off-season(May) and didn’t have any neighbors so it was pretty quiet. There are not too many amenities in the park which was fine for us since we really don’t use them. There was a very large playground, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard, basketball, and camp store. This park really cares about appearance and grounds-keeping is top notch. Our site had a nice grassy space with a small garden planted with flowers. The laundry was very nice, clean and had big front-loading machines. Check-in was super easy and fast. All the staff were very nice.

About 5 miles to the east is Hampton Beach and a little farther is the town of Rye which are worth the drive. There we discovered Ray’s Seafood and Petey’s Summertime Seafood where you can get a great meal right next to the water. After lunch pop over to Wallis Sand Beach for an afternoon relaxing by the sea. We love visiting the Kittery Trading Post(in Maine) which is a good outdoor outfitter and eating at Bob’s Clam Hut.

    Swanzey Lake Camping Area

    Site 12 review (2 adults 1 child)

Site 12 a little tight for 21 ft travel trailer. Large tree canopy. Lots if seasonal sites make up a majority of sites. No WiFi, AT&T is 2 bars without booster. Spectrum cable available at the site, but TV service is very poor. Nice beach, but need to cross public road to get there - short walk. Relaxing evenings along side fire pit.

Guide to East Merrimack

Most campgrounds near East Merrimack are located within a 20-mile radius, giving campers access to both New Hampshire's lakes and the Atlantic coast. The area's terrain ranges from wooded inland sites to coastal settings, with elevations from sea level to 500 feet. Summer temperatures typically reach 80-85°F during day and drop to 55-65°F at night, creating comfortable camping conditions from May through October.

What to do

Golf during your stay: Hidden Valley RV and Golf Park in Derry offers a 9 or 18-hole course with cart rentals and a pro shop on their 1300-acre property. A reviewer notes, "The main attraction of this campground is the golf course of 9 or 18 holes. There is a pro shop, golf cart rentals, etc." The facilities include clean restrooms, a grocery store, and two swimming beaches.

Water recreation options: Tuxbury Pond RV Campground provides boating access on their pond, though one camper cautions, "pond unusable, loud, dusty, golf cart speedway for seasonal campers, smelly (sewer)." Despite this concern, the campground offers two pools (typically closed during off-season), a pavilion, and various recreational facilities.

Beach access: Sandy Beach Campground in Contoocook has a sandy waterfront area with boat launch facilities. According to one camper, "Sandy beach by the water has plenty of room to relax out in the sun as well as launch areas to set out in a paddle boat, canoe or row boat, all available on site." The beach area includes a playground, making it convenient for families with children.

What campers like

Entertainment options: Tuxbury Pond RV Campground offers scheduled activities for all ages. One camper shared, "The live band was cool... the stand up comedy was awesome. For the most part, the comedians kept it fairly clean & our 9 yr old did not get any of the jokes that were a little sassy." Events typically occur near the pavilion area and may include both daytime and evening programming.

Clean facilities: Beach Rose RV Park in Salisbury Beach maintains well-kept grounds and amenities. "Lovely clean site. Felt so welcomed by the hosts," reports one visitor. Another adds, "Campground is very clean and well kept. Pool is very nice to hangout and cool off. Showers are not free, but for the money you get plenty of time to shower off."

Helpful management: Woodmore Family Campground staff receive consistent praise for their service. A guest mentioned, "Everyone is very friendly the owners are wonderful people and super friendly very helpful it's clean they offer a lot of stuff to do right on a lake in the bottom of the beautiful mountain in New Hampshire." This campground has a perfect 5-star rating from reviewers.

What you should know

Seasonal camper concentrations: Seacoast Camping and RV Resort has distinct areas for seasonal and transient campers. As one visitor explains, "Half of the park is seasonal campers(which is a lot more cramped and more junked up) and the other half is for transients. The two sides are separated by a tree line where the tent sites are located." This setup affects the overall atmosphere and site availability.

GPS navigation issues: Some campgrounds have entrance locations that confuse GPS systems. At Tuxbury Pond, "if you're using Apple Maps, it will likely take you to a turn that is not the campground entrance, there's even a hand-written sign on someone's lawn that has directions to the entrance." Call ahead for accurate directions.

Site privacy varies: Tent sites often lack separation at several rv parks near East Merrimack, New Hampshire. A camper at Tuxbury Pond observed, "no separation between some tent sites," while another noted at Beach Rose RV Park, "Fairly small sites, but very well maintained." Site maps are available at most park offices to help select the best location for your needs.

Tips for camping with families

Playground locations: Silver Lakes Park Campground offers a family-friendly environment with beach access. A visitor describes it as "a very clean, quiet, gated campground, with easy beach access for the kids (and launching space for pontoon or bass boats). There is a playground, rentable kayaks and canoes, a basketball goal, frisbee golf, corn hole, horseshoes, yard darts etc."

Activity planning: Schedule around evening events at campgrounds, as they can affect your experience. At Sandy Beach Campground, one camper mentioned, "We enjoyed our stay... Playground is on the beach. They don't allow sparklers so that was a bummer on the 4th, but still got to see fireworks." Check activity schedules upon arrival.

Water activities: Many campgrounds near East Merrimack provide water recreation for children. At Sandy Beach, one reviewer noted, "Really loved the weekend we spent there lots to do clean bathrooms and the store on site was so convenient." Rental equipment is available at most waterfront campgrounds, with costs around $10-15 per hour.

Tips from RVers

Site access considerations: At some rv parks in the East Merrimack area, maneuvering can be challenging. One RVer at Field and Stream RV Park stated, "They offer all year round camping. Great site right next to the water. Sites are clean and well equipped." Year-round availability makes this park unique in the region.

Leveling and hookups: Site conditions vary across campgrounds. A reviewer at Hidden Valley RV Park cautioned, "The water and electric were between our site and the next on one side and sewer between our site and the one on the other side. This made it difficult to place our trailer on the slanted site and reach all services." Bring leveling blocks and extension hoses/cords to ensure proper connections.

Site selection strategy: When possible, request specific sites. At Pine Acres Resort, some sites have better locations than others, while Seacoast Camping offers newer sites with advantages: "Our site (#124) was one of the new sites which they had just completed. It was a gravel back-in which was plenty long and level."
