Best RV Parks & Resorts near Trout Creek, MT

Trout Creek Motel & RV Park provides year-round RV camping with full hookups including 50-amp service, making it a reliable base for motorhome travelers in northwestern Montana. The park features spacious pull-through sites over 80 feet long that accommodate large rigs with ease. Nearby, Birdland Bay RV Resort in Thompson Falls offers a seasonal alternative (May-September) with big-rig friendly sites and complete hookups. Within 30 miles, RV campers can also access Two Rivers RV Park & Campground in Noxon, which operates from April through mid-November with electric, water, and sewer connections. Rimrock Lodge RV Park provides another option with full hookup sites overlooking the river. As one visitor noted, "Beautiful surrounding area, with wooded grounds create a quiet and peaceful stay. Long, pull-through RV sites that are over 80 feet long."

Most RV parks in the region maintain gravel pads rather than concrete, with some sites requiring leveling adjustments. Cell service varies throughout the area, with Verizon generally providing the most reliable coverage for remote workers. Sanitary dump stations are available at most parks, though Two Bit Outfit in Libby (open April-November) notably lacks shower and restroom facilities despite offering full hookups. Train noise affects several campgrounds near Trout Creek, particularly at night, though it typically diminishes after dark. Pet policies differ between parks - most welcome pets but Two Bit Outfit prohibits them entirely. During peak summer months, advance reservations are strongly recommended as the limited number of RV sites fill quickly, especially at higher-rated parks like Woodland RV Park in Libby, which maintains a 4.5-star rating and operates from mid-April through mid-October.

    Finley Flats

    Right on the river.

This Vista owned campground is first come first served. No amenities, no cell service. Pack in pack out. Camp host at the campground. Fishing, boating hiking. Beautiful area. There is a small store top of the hill. Nearest town is 10 miles away. Did I mention it is a free campground!. 14 day limit. Nearest dump station is in Trout Creek. Good gravel road can handle big rigs easily.

    50,000 Silver Dollar Campground

    A free spot

We stopped here on our way out of Montana (our home state). A winter storm rolled in and made the pass impassable. This is a FREE RV park with electric hookups…no water, cable, or dumping station, but again, FREE. The snow was hitting hard and having electricity was a lifesaver. There is a really good restaurant and bar here as well as a truck stop and gas station. We have a Class A and the spots were plenty big. Lots of dog walking areas too. Perfect in an emergency and great for a short stay. No long terms and is first come first serve.

    Nugget RV Resort

    We Gave Nugget a Try

We decided to stay here because we’ve seen this campground(CG) featured the last five year’s we’ve been on the road by CG review websites, travel forums, and big-name RV bloggers. So we thought we’d give Nugget a try. We followed our RV GPS to the CG that is near I-90, but far enough away that you don’t hear highway noise. There was another camper checking in when we arrived, but check-in was fairly quick and thorough. There was a sign about being a Good Sam Member and we had to ask to get the discount as that option was not available for the online reservation. We then had a very friendly escort to pull through site 63 with FHUs, which is supposedly a premium site. This gravel site has a little grass yard with a picnic table. The site is across from a community fire pit and couple of their little trail heads. When we were there in July, there was a fire ban so not having a site fire pit was no big deal. The utilities are nicely placed in the middle of the pad. Water pressure is good at about 50 psi. We got 2 to 3 bars on Verizon. As there are a lot of mature pine trees in this CG, satellite is iffy. Our campsite was at the north end of the CG facing the woods, so we used our Verizon MiFi versus Starlink. We probably could have gotten the Starlink to work if we put the antenna on our roof, but as we were only here for three nights, we didn’t try. There’s a nice trail system around the CG to walk with your kids and it is dog friendly. They offer a lot of amenities of which laundry was one that we did use. There’s a nice 9-hole golf course just down the road. They used to let veterans golf for free on Wednesdays, but now charges vets only$5. The CG also had a food truck one evening that was convenient. We wanted to see what all the hype was about and we got the chance. This CG has a lot to offer families or campers who desire a lot of comforts. Overall, its a nice and well run CG, but we are not compelled to repeat with all the other options in the area.

    Albert's Landing

Clean, Friendly, Well Maintained RV Campground on the CDA River

Albert's Landing is a clean, well managed RV campground on the shores of the North Fork of the CDA River near Cataldo, Idaho.

The campground offers 60+ sites with water & 30\50 amp service, level gravel pads, picnic tables, and fire rings. There is nearly 1000' of river frontage, a camp store, and a river float shuttle. However, the campground does not currently have a septic dump, trash facilities, or showers, Those services will be available soon though.

The North Fork of the CDA River is a popular destination for river floating, fishing, and off road recreational activities.

Down the road from the campground is the historic Snake Pit restaurant. Highly recommend stopping in for their great food, atmosphere, and colorful history.

If you're planning to visit the North Fork of the CDA River, I highly recommend Albert's Landing.

2 Mile Turn Off Dispersed Camp

    Easy in Easy out

Just as described by other reviews, it’s right off the highway and right by the creek. About 50 yards away is an outhouse next to a few RV’s. We didn’t check them out, but it was all quiet on a Sunday night. Fire pit is there with lots of brush and easy creek access to put out the fire. We could hear the cars go by at night but it was not bothersome to us. We felt safe and were grateful as the other place we tried didn’t work out. Drove in pulling a small cargo trailer with little issue, but big rigs would struggle. There is another nearby site (50ft away) that can handle a big rig.

    Wallace RV Park

    Nice clean park, convenient location

Clean park with beautiful creekside camping. Friendly employees and a convenient Brew Pub within walking distance. Grassy areas at sites and very pet friendly.

Road next the RV Park is very busy! It does slow down after dark but be prepared for road noise during daylight hours.

    Bull Run Access Dispersed

    Buggy but Beautiful

We were able to get our fifth wheel (40ft long, 13 1/2 ft tall) in and out easy! Lots of spaces and places to turn around. After crossing the bike path, take the first right onto the dirt road at the sportsmans access sign (parallel to the small paved parking lot.) Like another said, the best spot is past the first circular area. Keep going down the road and you’ll see a big shady area in the trees. (You can go further along to two more sites more suited for smaller pop-up campers, tents, or vans.) Close to the water so of course, there were some bugs: lots of bees and mosquitoes.

    Dunn Creek Flats Campground

Peaceful Riverside Camping (if you don't count been awoken by Bald Eagles)

We stayed here off season, we pulled our trailer through a pull through site on the edge of the river. You could walk down to the river and fish in the river, but it wasn't really a place for people or pets to play. The sites are primitive with fire rings but no power or water hookups.

The campground is pretty small, has big trash bins to avoid bears, but it didn't look like it was a problem when we were there.

There are roads on both sides of the river, one being the highway, but the river helps drown out some of the road noise. The mountains are tall on either side of the river valley and so the sun goes down a little sooner than expected, but the views from camp are nice. There is a big open area in the center of the playground for people and pets to run around.

We would definitely stay here again.

Guide to Trout Creek

The Trout Creek, Montana area sits along the Clark Fork River in a mountainous valley with elevations around 2,500 feet. Most rv campgrounds near Trout Creek, Montana experience seasonal train and highway noise due to their location along transit corridors. Summer temperatures typically reach 80-90°F while winter brings snow and freezing temperatures, affecting campground seasonal operations.

What to do

River recreation access: Near Rimrock Lodge RV Park, campers can enjoy the Clark Fork River with multiple public boat launches and fishing spots. "Close to Thompson Falls. There is a dam, public boat launch, a nice park and playground and a good grocery store. Hot Springs are about 30 min. away," notes Nancy C.

Hiking opportunities: Several trail networks surround the campgrounds with varying difficulty levels. At Nugget RV Resort, "hiking trails on site were fun and also the FS trails nearby are great as well," according to Cody M. The resort offers its own internal trail system plus nearby Forest Service routes.

Frisbee golf courses: Some campgrounds provide on-site recreation beyond typical amenities. Nancy C. observed at Rimrock Lodge, "there is a hidden gem not far away. River Bend Golf Course," while Nugget RV Resort features "hiking trails and scenic open field with frisbee golf."

What campers like

Shade coverage: Many campsites in the region feature tall pine trees providing natural cooling. At Woodland RV Park, Angel R. noted, "Having shade in the midst of record breaking heatwave is nice," while Corrie mentioned "some shade at some sites."

Wildlife viewing: Deer and other animals frequently visit campgrounds in this region. Nancy C. recalled her arrival at Rimrock Lodge: "a small herd of deer welcomed us at the entrance. That was cool." Similarly, managers at Two Rivers RV Park warned about "a mountain lion in the area and a bear that's been visiting the campground the last 4 years."

Creek access: Several parks feature small water features beyond the main rivers. Angel R. described Woodland RV Park: "Though it had a great stream running next it kids were able to play in it could float down it also," and Corrie added "some sites are on the little creek that you can wade and swim in!"

What you should know

Late check-in policies: Many parks accommodate after-hours arrivals with varying procedures. At Two Rivers RV Park & Campground, Meghan B. notes "the price is reasonable" but "it's a bit more rundown in-person" than website photos suggest. Kris M. reported that at Trout Creek Motel & RV Park, "The host made late check in for us easy."

Train noise considerations: Railway lines run through much of the region causing periodic noise. According to Meghan B., "There's a lot of road and train noise here, much like the rest of the campgrounds on this road." Megan at Trout Creek Motel described, "At first we were a little taken aback by all the train noises (the puppy wasn't too excited about it) but they didn't run too late into the night."

Laundry availability: While some parks advertise laundry facilities, operational status varies. Two Rivers RV Park has issues with "laundry not available" though their website doesn't note this limitation. Elizabeth S. at Wallace RV Park noted, "No laundry but restaurant and bar on property."

Tips for camping with families

Water play options: Several campgrounds offer creek or river access for children. At Birdland Bay RV Resort, Lindsey A. describes "a beautiful pond" in the lower loop, and Nancy C. adds "a quick access to the Clark Fork River for fishing and kayaking. Just a short stroll down the path is a beach on the lake."

Kid-friendly activities: Some parks offer additional recreational opportunities. Justin reported that Nugget RV Resort has "pool, hiking trails, pickle ball court, frisbee golf," and Mark S. added it's a "nice big spots, pool, hiking trails, pickle ball court, frisbee golf" setup.

Playground proximity: Several parks offer access to play structures either on-site or nearby. Nancy C. noted that near Rimrock Lodge RV Park, "There's a dam, public boat launch, a nice park and playground and a good grocery store." At Two Rivers, Meghan B. notes the "tent sites are in a grassy area near the trees" but "a bit of a walk to the restrooms."

Tips from RVers

Site sizing: Many parks accommodate larger rigs but with varying pad qualities. At Trout Creek Motel & RV Park, Kris M. observed, "Nice level gravel site," while Christopher P. found it "a chill" spot "if you are in transit and looking to recharge." However, Charise M. had issues: "the office area and road to get to rv park were way too tight for our 40 ft fifth wheel."

Connectivity options: Cell service and WiFi availability differ significantly between locations. Ti Y. reported at Two Rivers RV Park, "The wifi is weak and unstable." At Wallace RV Park, Jennifer H. commented on being "backed right above the creek. With the windows open I could hear it babbling all night. Pure bliss."

Seasonal considerations: Operating periods vary widely among RV camping options. Two Rivers RV Park runs from April 1 to November 15, while Woodland RV Park operates mid-April through mid-October. Birdland Bay RV Resort has the shortest season, open only May 1 through September 30.
