Twin Eagle Lake Estates & Hideout

    Beautiful place-

This was our first trip together in our new camper. It was a little rough assessing the place thru the website but the reviews swayed us. There are walking paths all around and a beautiful lake /clubhouse area. Super people running the place and of course other campers were so helpful. We took our 2 dogs and would have loved a little more grass for their paws as the entire camping area is rough gravel. We’re hoping for a dog park in the future....? The lake has many easy entrances for swimmers near the club house - broad steps or large boulder for the more adventurous. Can be a bit slippery tho so bring your water shoes. Kids seemed to have little problem. Saturday night there was live music. Just a single guy with a guitar but great choice of music and great singing voice. Had a great 2 days. We plan to come back.

St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA

Good location for exploring St. Louis

This campground is fairly close to downtown and very close to lots of shopping. A great place to stay to stock up on supplies before heading west. We stayed 2 nights to have a day to visit the Gateway Arch. The pool and playground seemed nice even though we didn’t use them. Nice dog park for smaller dogs. Several cabins are available along with RV sites. The tent sites are next to a river under large trees. Plenty of spaces for big rigs. Our site was no very level but nothing our auto-leveling couldn’t handle.

Nice, clean campground, level pull-through sites - ours had a paver-patio and grill, a lot of shade throughout, dog park, and a creek to explore. This was our 2nd time here. Close to Saint Louis, Six Flags, and hiking.

    St. Francois State Park Campground

    St. Francois

We had a beautiful campsite with soft grassy ground. We did have a mole or something burrowing around so you had to watch for loose dirt clods but that was NBD. The site had a picnic table and fire ring. There were pit toilets, no showers. Spigots throughout the area. Within walking distance of the river and trail access. Beautiful hiking on the bluffs above the river. The hosts were really friendly. There was also a very cute and very friendly kitty running around the area hunting grasshoppers. He hung out for some pets and cuddles then wandered off for some more adventure. I kind of want to be that cat. ^_^

    St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park

    Convenient to St. Charles

Easy off I-370, campground is new and large. It is on a lake with bike trails, kayak rental, and kids splash pad. Staff were helpful. I received about 5 pieces of paper when checking in. You need a code to get into the dog park. Shopping nearby. Used this as a base to visit historic St Charles.

LEDLENDSER MH10 and KOA Route 66 review

    Campground review:

Once googling local campsites at the last minute for a weekend getaway with both dogs, we came route 66 campground. They have a dog park, rv hookup sites, electric tent sites and primitive sites. We stayed at a primitive tent site with both dogs. Site t13, which unfortunately was one of the very few camp spots with zero trees so we're unable to use our hammock. (Most of the other sites had great trees for hammock setups). Other amenities on the campground included a heated pool, bike rentals, basketball courts, a country store for firewood, supplies, and gift shop. Needless to say this was not a "roughing" it type campground. For the dogs though, we were right across from the creek to take them down to play. Also, kids were catching crawdads! Great campsite that is pet friendly and very family friendly!

    Ledlenser mh10

This headlamp first of all comes with a 7 year warrantly(must register the product)! On top of that all these features: a rechargeable battery with a USB port. Rapid focus system with 2 tough button on headlamp to adjust lighting. The strap is very easy to adjust and fit to comfort, lightweight despise the battery pack attached to the headlamp. The lighting is phenomenal! You also get a green and red additional glass lense that you can screw into the front of your lense for any activity and not disturb others with a bright white light. Me, howsoever, I was able to on this camping trip, use the headlamp to continue to play a game of cornhole... and winter, might I add.. thanks to my headlamp for optimal vision;). Included are some pictures of how bright and fitting the headlamp is. I was highly impressed! Never once did it slip... which I have struggled with in many headlamps that it seems the lamp is too heavy and slowly makes its way down your forehead. The Ledlenser stays in place and is very comfortable! Also, doesn't leave that weird band line on your head... at least I didn't experience it like I have on others. Very impressed overall!

Guide to Fenton

Camping near Fenton, Missouri provides access to the Ozark foothills with elevations ranging from 450-700 feet above sea level. The region experiences hot summers with temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F in July and August, while spring and fall offer milder conditions with occasional severe thunderstorms. Most campsites in the area feature gravel pads with varying levels of shade coverage depending on location.

What to do

Trail access from camp: At Beyond the Trail RV Park, campers can easily access the Katy Trail directly from the property. "The Katy trail borders the park for easy access to town. Beautiful views across a large farm field to the hills beyond with incredible sunsets," notes Sam C. The trail provides miles of flat, scenic biking or walking opportunities.

Archery practice: St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park offers an archery range on-site for campers looking to practice their skills. "The park has planted some trees, but they are really just saplings, so there is no shade yet. There is a nice bathhouse with free showers for the campers and pay laundry," mentions Annie C. The archery range provides a structured activity option without leaving the park.

Mountain biking trails: Technical mountain biking sections are available at Klondike Park, making it ideal for cyclists. "Klondike park is a gorgeous park along the Katy Trail in Augusta, MO. The campsites are very quiet, very family friendly park. On site restrooms, hiking trails, and a small lake with overlooking bluffs," writes Lindsey R. The park combines camping with dedicated biking terrain.

What campers like

Small lake fishing: Klondike Park features a fishing pond adjacent to the campground. "Great fishing pond by the campground. Pay the extra $3 for a basic site- they have really nice covered picnic tables," suggests Annie C. The pond offers convenient fishing access without traveling far from your site.

Brewery and winery proximity: Beyond the Trail RV Park provides walking access to local establishments. "Just on the other side of the trail is a great brewery with a fantastic patio and rooftop deck. We walked there a few times to enjoy pizza," shares Jamie C. The campground's location allows campers to enjoy local beverages without driving.

Historic downtown access: Sundermeier RV Park offers easy access to St. Charles historic district. "You can literally be parked right at the Katy Trail. Through the gate at the rear of the campground, and you can bike for miles. Easy ride in to St. Charles a wonderful historic river town on the Missouri River. Great shops, great restaurants," writes Cheryl K. The proximity to local culture enhances the camping experience.

What you should know

Seasonal flooding concerns: Many campgrounds in the area experience flooding issues. "While we were there they had a record rainfall amount and the park apparently already has flooding issues so it was flooding pretty bad," reports Charlie & Danielle B. about Covered Bridge RV Park. Check weather forecasts during spring and early summer.

Train and airport noise: Some campgrounds have noise from transportation. "Positives: Really nice people at check in. It does have 30 amp service even though this app shows it doesn't. 30 pound water pressure. Nice level concrete pad with a picnic table. On Lambert international airports flight path, next to a major train trestle, right next to Highway 370," notes Jack G. about Sundermeier RV Park.

Urban vs. wooded options: Campgrounds range from urban to more secluded settings. "For those who need to get out of town yet can't imagine not checking the latest tweet, Tik Tok, or Instagram post, this park is for you. Not 2 miles from Six Flags, and 5 minutes from the freeway, you'll find plenty of beauty, creature comfort amenities, and cell service," explains Lucas M. about Greensfelder County Park. Choose based on your preference for convenience or seclusion.

Tips for camping with families

Free recreation center access: Long-term campers at St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park may receive bonus amenities. "One couple I talked to was camping long term (I think they are permanent RV'ers) and they got a free membership to the St Peter's RecPlex recreation center with their long term spot (they said something about having to book a least a month out to get this perk)," shares Annie C. This provides swimming and indoor recreation options.

Kid-friendly activities: Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park offers dedicated children's programming. "We stayed here last minute for Labor Day Weekend and the staff were great with finding us a good tent site available. This is not a rugged style campground as there are many amenities such as a pool, putt putt golf, volleyball, and more. They also host daily kids activities and crafts," reports Lindsey R. These structured activities keep children engaged.

Dog-friendly trails: Several dog friendly campgrounds near Fenton offer trail access for pets. "Klondike park is a gorgeous park along the Katy Trail in Augusta, MO. The campsites are very quiet, very family friendly park. On site restrooms, hiking trails, and a small lake with overlooking bluffs," explains Lindsey R. Dogs can exercise on these trails while families enjoy the scenery.

Tips from RVers

Electrical safety awareness: Check power connections at older campgrounds. "My equipment detected a Line/Neutral Reversal on some 30A receptacles; the 50A receptacles appeared to be wired correctly. When I reported this life-safety hazard, the staffer's response was, 'Don't use your surge protector—they're not compatible with our system,'" warns Jeff C. about Sundermeier RV Park. Bring a surge protector with an EMS system.

Site size considerations: Choose sites based on your RV dimensions at Covered Bridge RV Park. "Pros: -Most sites are great for trailers 26' or less and 1 slide (sites 24-26 can fit a fifth wheel probably no bigger than 36-38 ft) -2-20 amp plugs and 1-30amp plug -Not to many trees hanging over your camper that would drop branches," advises Matthew H. This prevents accessibility issues upon arrival.

Varying hookup configurations: Be prepared for unusual utility layouts. "The utilities are set up weird on all sites - Water and electric are at the very rear of the site by the sewer, so you will need a decent sized hose to reach if your water intake is in the front of your camper," notes Josh F. about Casino Queen RV Park. Bring extension cords and longer hoses when camping at pet-friendly RV parks near Fenton.
