St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park features a fenced dog park with spacious grassy campsites that accommodate pets at all sites. The park maintains level concrete pads for RVs with full hookups while tent campers enjoy grassy areas with picnic tables and fire rings. Pets must remain leashed throughout the campground except within the designated dog park, which requires an access code obtained during check-in. Sundermeier RV Park in nearby St. Charles allows pets at their concrete pad sites, though with stricter policies including no fires permitted on the grounds. Both campgrounds provide convenient access to walking trails—370 Lakeside Park surrounds a natural lake with a 3-mile paved trail perfect for dog walking, while Sundermeier connects directly to the Katy Trail for extended pet exercise. The natural lake at 370 Lakeside Park is completely surrounded by a paved trail ideal for walking dogs.

Cahokia RV Parque offers pet-friendly accommodations with full hookups and concrete pads, though some visitors note the sites are relatively close together. The campground includes a pond area suitable for short pet walks, with waste stations positioned throughout the grounds. Draft Kings at Casino Queen RV Park charges a $20 pet fee in addition to nightly rates, with a designated pet relief area along the perimeter fence. Pere Marquette State Park Campground provides more natural surroundings for pets with hiking trails accessible from campsites. Campers report varying experiences with train noise at several locations, particularly at Sundermeier RV Park where trains cross a nearby trestle and at Draft Kings where trains pass frequently throughout the day and night. Most campgrounds in the area require pets to be current on vaccinations, with documentation sometimes requested at check-in.

Good location for exploring St. Louis

This campground is fairly close to downtown and very close to lots of shopping. A great place to stay to stock up on supplies before heading west. We stayed 2 nights to have a day to visit the Gateway Arch. The pool and playground seemed nice even though we didn’t use them. Nice dog park for smaller dogs. Several cabins are available along with RV sites. The tent sites are next to a river under large trees. Plenty of spaces for big rigs. Our site was no very level but nothing our auto-leveling couldn’t handle.

      KOA in Eureka, MO

Nice, clean campground, level pull-through sites - ours had a paver-patio and grill, a lot of shade throughout, dog park, and a creek to explore. This was our 2nd time here. Close to Saint Louis, Six Flags, and hiking.

      St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park

      Convenient to St. Charles

Easy off I-370, campground is new and large. It is on a lake with bike trails, kayak rental, and kids splash pad. Staff were helpful. I received about 5 pieces of paper when checking in. You need a code to get into the dog park. Shopping nearby. Used this as a base to visit historic St Charles.

LEDLENDSER MH10 and KOA Route 66 review

      Campground review:

Once googling local campsites at the last minute for a weekend getaway with both dogs, we came route 66 campground. They have a dog park, rv hookup sites, electric tent sites and primitive sites. We stayed at a primitive tent site with both dogs. Site t13, which unfortunately was one of the very few camp spots with zero trees so we're unable to use our hammock. (Most of the other sites had great trees for hammock setups). Other amenities on the campground included a heated pool, bike rentals, basketball courts, a country store for firewood, supplies, and gift shop. Needless to say this was not a "roughing" it type campground. For the dogs though, we were right across from the creek to take them down to play. Also, kids were catching crawdads! Great campsite that is pet friendly and very family friendly!

      Product review:

      Ledlenser mh10

This headlamp first of all comes with a 7 year warrantly(must register the product)! On top of that all these features: a rechargeable battery with a USB port. Rapid focus system with 2 tough button on headlamp to adjust lighting. The strap is very easy to adjust and fit to comfort, lightweight despise the battery pack attached to the headlamp. The lighting is phenomenal! You also get a green and red additional glass lense that you can screw into the front of your lense for any activity and not disturb others with a bright white light. Me, howsoever, I was able to on this camping trip, use the headlamp to continue to play a game of cornhole... and winter, might I add.. thanks to my headlamp for optimal vision;). Included are some pictures of how bright and fitting the headlamp is. I was highly impressed! Never once did it slip... which I have struggled with in many headlamps that it seems the lamp is too heavy and slowly makes its way down your forehead. The Ledlenser stays in place and is very comfortable! Also, doesn't leave that weird band line on your head... at least I didn't experience it like I have on others. Very impressed overall!

      Lots to do

There is lots to do at this park. There is a pool, bike rentals, dog park, movie night, basketball court, and more. You can bring your RV, travel trailer, tent camp, or stay in a cabin. Most of the sites are in the shade and are fairly level. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. They have Ele/water and Ele/water/sewer sites. It is close to train tracks, but I only heard the train once at night. It’s close to Six Flags, shopping, and restaurants. They even have a cute caboose cabin you can stay in.

      St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park

      Really nice overnight stay

We spent one night here (May 11, 2022). This is a very nice easy access CG with wide, spacious, and level pull through and back-in gravel sites (25 paved). There are a lot of activities available: archery, boating, fishing, dog park, biking (wish I brought my mtn bike), walking, playground, horseshoes and volleyball. We did not have time to visit the clubhouse and did not make use of the bathrooms or showers. It is a great base camp to visit the area. The WiFi was great as was cell phone reception. We would definitely stay here again.

    Guide to Hazelwood

Camping options near Hazelwood, Missouri offer varying experiences within 40 miles of the city. The area sits at approximately 450 feet above sea level, with relatively mild winters and humid summers typical of the Midwest region. Most campgrounds remain open year-round, though facilities may be limited during winter months when temperatures can drop below freezing.

    What to do

Kayaking on lakes and rivers: St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park offers kayak rentals with a 3-mile paved trail circling the lake. "We love going here and watching the sunsets. This is a great place to kayak and camp if you don't want to drive that fare and live in the city," notes Lindsey C. from St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park.

Hiking diverse terrain: Cuivre River State Park features multiple trail options around Lincoln Lake. "This park has plenty of well groomed trails and facilities spread out nicely. You could camp here for a weekend and stay busy," says Tony M. from Cuivre River State Park Campground.

Historic exploration: St. Charles historic district is accessible from camping areas. "Easy ride in to St. Charles a wonderful historic river town on the Missouri River. Great shops, great restaurants," reports Cheryl K. who stayed at Sundermeier RV Park.

Wildlife viewing: Several campgrounds offer opportunities to spot local wildlife. "We saw bunnies hopping around and when we first arrived to our site a deer was grazing nearby, such a bonus!" shares Maria E. about her experience at Cuivre River State Park.

    What campers like

Family activities: Many campgrounds provide recreational options for children. "They have paddle boats and bikes and group bikes for rental. Located right next to a lake with a lot of RV and tent camping spots. Kids had a blast riding bikes. Even finding a few little frogs jumping around and fireflies at night," says Joseph F. from St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park.

Staff responsiveness: Several campgrounds maintain security and staff presence throughout day and night. "Staff on duty at all hours is awesome! We called ahead but didn't need a reservation," notes Nathaniel B. about his stay at 370 Lakeside Park.

Connectivity to trails: Katy Trail access allows for extended bike rides from campsites. "You can literally be parked right at the Katy Trail. Through the gate at the rear of the campground, and you can bike for miles," explains Cheryl K. from Sundermeier RV Park.

Cost-effective options: Budget-conscious campers appreciate several affordable options. "Great spot in a beautiful area close to St. Louis. No power but access to drinking water and waste water dump for just 8$," reports Helge Vandel J. about Horseshoe Lake State Park Campground.

    What you should know

Train and airport noise: Several campgrounds experience noise from transportation corridors. "On Lambert international airports flight path, next to a major train trestle, right next to Highway 370... Very urban environment," warns Jack G. about Sundermeier RV Park.

Fire restrictions: Not all campgrounds allow fires due to local ordinances. "The only bad thing which isn't the campgrounds fault, is you can't have a camp fire due to the city ordinances," notes Brian A. about Sundermeier RV Park.

Space considerations: Some sites offer limited privacy between spaces. "The spaces are a bit close together and not many trees but I've been to worse. The not many trees is do to it still being a fairly new campground," explains Barbie B. from Pere Marquette State Park Campground.

Urban surroundings: Several campgrounds have industrial or urban settings. "It's a city park and had that feel... not many trees for shade but the lake was pretty and the playground was good for the kiddos," explains Nathaniel B. about 370 Lakeside Park.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Choose campgrounds with dedicated play areas. "My kids loved the jumping pillow at the park. Minimal playground but they still enjoyed it," says Sarah S. from St. Louis NE-Granite City KOA.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Lincoln Lake at Cuivre River State Park offers wildlife sighting chances. "Campground is beautiful and very woodsy. We saw bunnies hopping around and when we first arrived to our site a deer was grazing nearby, such a bonus!" shares Maria E.

Swimming options: Some parks offer designated swimming areas. "Plenty of gorgeous campsites and a lake to swim and kayak!" recommends J K. about Cuivre River State Park Campground.

Proximity to attractions: Consider distance to major attractions. "Close to historic St. Charles and the bike trail," notes Susan L. about Sundermeier RV Park, making it convenient for families wanting to explore beyond the campground.

    Tips from RVers

Water pressure variances: Be prepared for varying water pressure at hookup sites. "The water pressure was so strong that I could barely open the water pump!" warns Susan L. about 370 Lakeside Park.

Site selection for large rigs: Research specific sites that accommodate larger vehicles. "Site 17 accommodate a 38ft fifth wheel will just hang over the back a little to fit," advises Matthew H. about Riverside Landing.

Reservation practices: Some campgrounds require advance booking while others allow flexibility. "Stayed here most of the several weeks we needed to be in St. Louis for family matters. Definitely our favorite place in the area," shares Suzie S. about 370 Lakeside Park.

Dining options: Some campgrounds feature on-site restaurants. "Do NOT miss the BBQ place in the parking lot... fantastic food and a 10% discount for park customers," recommends Lee T. from Cahokia RV Parque.
