Extremely Peaceful

The customer service was absolutely outstanding! 4 stars only because of lack of amenities for kids, however, they do have games to rent from office. Unfortunately the lake has mostly dried up and no longer hits the shoreline of the campground (apparently been this way for 6 years). They used to…

Nice Peacefull park

This park is a little out of the way but well worth it.  The sites are spacious and spaced well apart.  Almost all of the spots are well shaded .  The whole park is well kept, and so very peaceful. We enjoyed our stay here.

Camping in Nature

First things first, don’t follow the GPS! It will take you to the recreation area and you will have to turn around. The campground can’t be seen from the main road. Take side road on left when you see the welcome to Alabama sign on the right. If you are coming from the other direction, you’ll pass…

Tombigbee Barges Up Close

Site 129 is directly on the water with a front row seat for watching the boats and barges. Another pleasant COE campground with friendly and helpful staff. Our stay from 3/14-17/21 is overcast with the threat of tornadoes the evening after we depart. The weather discourages us from paddling, but we…

Planes, Barges, Motor Boats and Paddlers

Our stay at site 82 from 3/12/21-3/14/21 is filled with the sounds of people working and playing. Sites are nicely spaced. During the week, we enjoy watching pilots from the Columbus Air Force Base honing their skills. The barges, more frequent during the day, have the occasional after dark run.…

Great Swampy Views

Fairly well maintained park. Our site backed up to a swampy portion. Wonderful wooden bridges allowed it to be explored easily.

Bath houses were dated but serviceable.

Verizon service was flaky and bounced between no service to slow.

The owls were loud - which was great. Pretty sure we heard…

Great as always

Have camped here for years and it is always a very well kept campground. Pads are all level, water and some sewer hook ups are available. Bathrooms are always cleaned regularly. Due to covid they have a limit and you now have to book online at recreation.gov, they do not take cash or card at the…

Great quiet campground

We had site 39 that backed right up to the lake. Campground was very clean and easy to get around. This was a great place to get away and just sit by the lake enjoying the day. There weren’t any hiking trails but you can just walk around the whole campground which was about 4 miles. Site are pretty…

Good basic campground

Large sites, clean bathrooms. Sadly the playground and basketball courts were closed and we didn’t know. We were on the riverside loop, we drove around to the other areas and it was overgrown. We will probably stay here again.

Decent place to stay

This KOA is a decent place. We arrived after the office was closed. We had called ahead and they had a site saved for us. The only issue was, we could not find the site. It was a tent site and we could not find the assigned one. Being the off season and not crowded we just grabbed an empty…

Great camping on the lake

We arrived at Twiltley Branch at 10pm after two other campgrounds were unexpectedly closed. The caretakers had us check in online and let us sneak into the primitive campsite even though they were technically closed for the night. We drove to the site in the dark and set up camp, not quite knowing…

Nice Campground

We visit Pickensville Campground a lot because my MIL lives in Pickensville down the road from the campground. Friendly staff. We stayed at site 126. It was on the river across from the bathrooms. Site we stayed at had power and water hookups. They have a community dumping station. I think some of…

Nice campground

Nice campground on the western shore of Lake Okatibbee in Lauderdale Co, MS. Lots of sites right on the lake. There are three loops in the campground. Two loops have electric (50amp) and water hook ups. There are no waste hook ups due to the possible flooding of the campgrounds on occasions.…

Tent camping

Basic tent camping not far from water on Lake Okatibbee in Lauderdale Co, MS. This place is no reservations, first come first served. There are no showers but there is a pit toilet. The grounds are kept up pretty good there is a picnic grill and a fire ring. It is only 10$ and uses the honor…

Very nice, peaceful park

This is one of those awesome Corps of Engineer Parks that are scattered across the country. We settled in here for a couple of nights and really wished we had more time. Our site was a nice back-in with a great water view. Since we were there in the fall, the park was not even a quarter full so it…

  • Our site was a back-in but we decided to pull in forward to enjoy the view.
