Lovely, new, accommodations in small town

Rolled up in the middle of the night. $10 cash in the box for a tent site. Clean bathroom with shower. Felt safe and fell asleep quickly with the sound of the creek next to our site. Would definitely stay again.

    Perfect Fall get away

Simple beautiful park with the fall colors, plenty to due and see. Amazing fishing both trout and bass! Well maintained facilities in the park and friendly staff!

    Maplewood State Park

    Spacious and buggy

For established camping, this park is lovely and spots are spacious. The place is bumpin’ with people but trees provide some sense of privacy but large, louder group was definitely in our vicinity—we couldn’t enjoy the birdsongs as we’d have liked (over 150 species can be found here). Staying at Grass Lake, we might have been able to launch our paddleboards from our site, but would have been a little tricky. Energy was better spent on keeping a fire tended with onslaught of unavoidable mosquitoes. Also, park doesn’t permit burning of found woods in the pits…

    Stayed during State Trap Shoot

We stayed for a few nights during the State High School Trap Shoot. Crowds were expected and it was a busy area. Surprisingly quiet in the evening given how many people were there. Facilities were clean. Will stay there again for sure.

    Exposed

We arrived, checked it out and decided to leave. The grassy sites had recently been mowed, but were very muddy and right on top of each other. Lots of people fishing. We just felt exposed. Drive to Birch Lake State Forest instead.

Bougie "camping". More like a living room with no roof...

This is a great state park. Group camping comes with its own bathroom building and shelter building with wood stove. The water is quite clean. Also there's even hot water in the bathroom.

    Beautiful Quiet Campground

Wonderful office staff, very kind and helpful. We intended to stay at the tent site but when we arrived we saw a lovely cabin overlooking the lake and decided to give ourselves a treat. It was very clean and comfortable. You can tell they work very hard to make the interior inviting and the kitchen well supplied with nice kitchenware. Highly recommend.

    Beers Hike-In Site

Great backpacking site to take your family

Take the Maplewood church road into the site. There is enough room to park 1 (maybe 2) vehicles. The walk is an easy walk. There is a nice fire pit and good area for fishing right at the site. Also there is a picnic table and a vault toilet. Surprisingly there was toilet paper there!

    Update of website needed

The linked website says this is a year round park. Called to make sure payment could be done after 5, which is when I found out that it’s in fact not open year round, even without hookups.

    Great place for the night

Stayed here for one night...All lots, (lots of lots), were level and had water & electric. Super easy check in... Would definitely stay again..

It is an active gun range so if shooting bothers you, may not be your place..

    Beautiful park

So many activities and clean shower and restrooms. Folks working here we very pleasant and personable. Only 4 stars we we stayed in their overflow which was asked for but it’s down the road outside of the park. It is within walking distance. It’s a little confusing as you park in grass behind some private houses. It was after they close and they left us a map and phone number for the manager if we had any questions.

    RUINED THIS PLACE!

Stopped in our 25ft RV to check out the campground and was told to get off the property if I wasn’t staying there. The owner was rude. Would not let us park and take our dogs out to the road (not on the property). Was the worst experience ever. Happy to leave.

    Family friendly

We are a husband and wife with three kids, ages 14 11 and 10. We are earning our Boy Scouts bicycling merit badge. Direct access to the bike trail, tons to do for the kids when mom and dad were worn out. Bathrooms were beyond clean and modern. Amazing for a city camp. Lake is clean and warm. Perfect 10!!

Sites are very spacious, but some are pretty slanted. Beautiful area, just wish the campsites were closer to the beach.

    Knoll Loop

We don’t have much of an experience, booked online an electric site that showed full shade and plenty of grass. Got there and no good place to pop up a roof top tent, all dirt, no electric. We had to leave and go get a hotel room

    Nice spot!

Some of the spaces are small. We had site 3b which was good sized. Beautiful stream. Only complaint was showers aren't the greatest. Dingy and the shower head is really low on the wall. We'd come here again. Our next reservation is for a smaller spot. We'll see how it goes. Internet service is very spotty.

    Lake Carlos State Park

    Beautiful and quiet

End of October, Stopped for just one night, probably about a 20ish minute drive from 94. Was able to purchase firewood after closing, and the campsite were easy to find after (7$)entry to the park. Campsites are reserved through an online system. We found the top campsite completely empty and plenty of sites had good tree coverage for privacy/ way no protection. Nice level sites with soft ground. Each site had a fire ring and picnic table. The only bathroom in walking distance to the upper campsites was a vault toilet located amongst the cabins. Seems like a great place to stay any season.
