The Homestead property has been in the family for over 85 years. Greg's Grandfather moved the family here during the Depression. They built the barn and ran a dairy farm to sustain the family. We are excited about starting a new life for the farm. We want to give people an opportunity to enjoy the area that we have loved our whole lives. When you think of Andes Tower Hills you probably think of snow and winter fun. In 2023 we will become your favorite new spot in the lakes area for camping, hiking and biking. We have 50 amp electrical, water and sewer hookups for all sites. We also have an on-site bathhouse. With over 800 acres of trail system that will be accessible to our campers we are excited to be your next camping destination.

General: RV style camping on Pomme de Terre Lake and Kenny Lake. Many sites are lakefront or have a view of the lake. We were one of the few (if not only) non-seasonal campers at this campground.
Site Quality: Our site was located directly behind the store/office but had a view of the lake. Parking was on grass. The site was level and had an electric hookup. A wooden picnic table (in good shape) and a fire ring complete the site. When I called to make a reservation, I asked for a non-electric site but was told the primitive sites are far from the restrooms. I’m glad we settled on an electric site as the primitive ones, besides the distance from the restrooms, would also only be suitable for tents.
Bath/Shower house: Reasonably clean but I’ve seen better. Two showers, two toilets, and one sink. The shower had hot water and good flow, but it was cramped with little room to get dressed (plus the showers are located right inside the door, impeding privacy.
Activities: All the activities you would associate with lakefront camping. None of these applied to us but it was a good overnight location for passing through. Several speed boats zoomed by on the lake, and I imagine that on a summer weekend, the boat traffic would be much increased. There is a fish cleaning station. There are nice docks with benches to enjoy the view of the lake/sunset.
This campground is not our preferred type of camping – no privacy between sites but on a weekday toward the end of August, it was very quiet (but still HOT). We appreciate that we were assigned a lakeview site as not all of them are.

My extended family has gatherings here a couple times a year as it is close to everybody and a great location! The campground is open for the season from May 1st to October 1st each year, weather permitting.
Reasons we like this campground: lakefront sites are available, the town is small so pretty quiet but there are gas stations, restaurants, and stores (including Walmart), it is close to home for everybody so this tends to be the first trip of the year to get water in everything and make sure there are no fun surprises after wintering the campers for 5 to 6 months, has bathrooms, there is a walking trail close to the campground that goes around part of the lake.
Additional details and amenities: 80 sites, 52 sites with full hookup which include water, sewer and electricity and 24 sites with water and electricity only and 4 primitive sites. All campsites contain a fire pit. Three sets of restrooms are contained within the campground with showers. Other amenities include: picnic tables, storm shelter, dump station, fish cleaning house, kayak rental, lake access with boat ramp and docks. Public beach, splash pad, bike trail, and playground adjacent.
LegendWe stay every year typically for the legion's annual beer run! Great lake views and close to town. Boat launch is close by, bathrooms, showers, fish cleaning house provided.

Rolled up in the middle of the night. $10 cash in the box for a tent site. Clean bathroom with shower. Felt safe and fell asleep quickly with the sound of the creek next to our site. Would definitely stay again.

Simple beautiful park with the fall colors, plenty to due and see. Amazing fishing both trout and bass! Well maintained facilities in the park and friendly staff!
LegendThe campsites are integrated into the fairgrounds which is different but nice. Very little shade for most of the sites and the reservation process is a bit difficult to navigate but the sites is nice and quiet. There is a bathroom and an outside shower but way better if you have a full camper. Nice access to town and bike trails and across the street and some trails down by the river.
LegendThere's a short row of camp spots in the sun for campers. Seems like a good portion of it is full of people who are here all the time. The rest of the campers are in the back of their truck, which i'm not opposed to, but they're in pretty tough shape and very old. I will say this is one of the least safe places. I have felt in North Dakota.
ScoutNice, new rv park. Not far off I 94. Spent 1 night, but slept well due to no noise. Golf cart rentals, and trails from the park.

GuideFor established camping, this park is lovely and spots are spacious. The place is bumpin’ with people but trees provide some sense of privacy but large, louder group was definitely in our vicinity—we couldn’t enjoy the birdsongs as we’d have liked (over 150 species can be found here). Staying at Grass Lake, we might have been able to launch our paddleboards from our site, but would have been a little tricky. Energy was better spent on keeping a fire tended with onslaught of unavoidable mosquitoes. Also, park doesn’t permit burning of found woods in the pits…
ScoutWe were in town for a weekend event and Andes RV Park was outstanding! Friendly service was in the easy check-in and checkout process. It has outstanding trails that they use in the winter time for cross-country skiing with tons of outdoor activities. Brand new restroom and shower facilities with laundry.

We stayed for a few nights during the State High School Trap Shoot. Crowds were expected and it was a busy area. Surprisingly quiet in the evening given how many people were there. Facilities were clean. Will stay there again for sure.
TravelerWe arrived, checked it out and decided to leave. The grassy sites had recently been mowed, but were very muddy and right on top of each other. Lots of people fishing. We just felt exposed. Drive to Birch Lake State Forest instead.

This is a great state park. Group camping comes with its own bathroom building and shelter building with wood stove. The water is quite clean. Also there's even hot water in the bathroom.

Nice hosts and park ranger. Need to reserve online. Quiet. peaceful evening.
LegendCamped at Site #21 on Oct 8, 2023. Nice city park. Clean campsites along Sauk Lake. Fishing pier nearby. The office was closed for the season with the water & electric turned off, and the campground restroom closed. I don't mind this except that the $25 camping fee was high for the shut-offs & closures. (The was an open restroom down by the boat ramp.) There was trash service. Close to town, the campground was well maintained. There was a table & hookups pedestal. Good place for an overnight stay.
ScoutThe linked website says this is a year round park. Called to make sure payment could be done after 5, which is when I found out that it’s in fact not open year round, even without hookups.

LegendSecond visit to the park but first time camping. Our spot was not private and a bit of a walk to the toilet but everyone was quiet and respectful. It is a very large park with miles of hiking trails and some pretty great mountain biking routes. It is a gem with the fall colors and was full the night we were there.

So many activities and clean shower and restrooms. Folks working here we very pleasant and personable. Only 4 stars we we stayed in their overflow which was asked for but it’s down the road outside of the park. It is within walking distance. It’s a little confusing as you park in grass behind some private houses. It was after they close and they left us a map and phone number for the manager if we had any questions.
ScoutStopped in our 25ft RV to check out the campground and was told to get off the property if I wasn’t staying there. The owner was rude. Would not let us park and take our dogs out to the road (not on the property). Was the worst experience ever. Happy to leave.
ScoutWe are a husband and wife with three kids, ages 14 11 and 10. We are earning our Boy Scouts bicycling merit badge. Direct access to the bike trail, tons to do for the kids when mom and dad were worn out. Bathrooms were beyond clean and modern. Amazing for a city camp. Lake is clean and warm. Perfect 10!!
