Wolverine Campground sites with electric hookups accommodate campers with pets on the northern shore of Holloway Reservoir. Both rustic and modern sites are available, with fire rings and picnic tables at each location. Dogs must remain leashed throughout the campground, including at the beach area. The grounds are clean but can become crowded on holiday weekends with sites positioned close together. Some campers find the fire pits exceptionally deep, requiring visitors to sit directly next to them to feel warmth. The campground features modern bathrooms with showers, drinking water, and trash disposal. Additional pet-friendly options include Covenant Hills Camp, offering full hookup sites, cabins and glamping accommodations in a family-oriented Christian setting where alcohol is prohibited.

Boating access at the reservoir provides dogs opportunities to cool off during summer months, though the designated swimming beach prohibits pets in the water. The reservoir supports various water activities with boat tie-ups available at shore in the rustic camping area. Hiking trails wind through the partially wooded grounds, providing moderate exercise options for leashed dogs. Nearby Otter Lake Park Campground also welcomes pets with shady sites under mature trees and lake access for swimming and fishing. The campground store at Wolverine stocks basic supplies, though pet-specific items are limited. Visitors should pack sufficient pet food, waste bags, and portable water bowls, especially during peak summer months when temperatures can reach the high 80s. Local veterinary services are available in Lapeer, approximately 20 minutes south of the campground.

      Pontiac Lake Recreation Area

      Private camping

Very private sites. I was surprised at how well each site was hidden from the others. Restrooms can be a bit far from some sites. Nice little dog park by the beach too.

      Clear Water Campgrounds

      Love, love, love this campground.

This is a quiet, friendly and family campground. The staff is very willing to help any way they can. The sites are level and spacious.

A great place for the kids! With a beach, playground and paved roads is nice but the frosting in this cake is the petting zoo. Animals from bunnies, peacocks & cats to horses, goats and of course Milton the burro, get it? Milton Burro, LOL

The store has stuff for the kids at very reasonable prices and the ice cream shop across the street is a nice walk after dinner. There's a light there for safe crossing, too.

Try this place, you'll add this to your good memories.

No credit or debit cards. Cash and checks only.

      Clearwater Campground

      Nice!

A fun little campground with a nice bunch of petting zoo type animals! The beach is clean and the lake is warm! Very nice layout with walking trail around the lake. The only complaint was not nearly enough trash cans around (like, none easy to find) and the bathrooms were nasty for our 2 day visit. Price per night for full hook up was $40 :-)

Bathrooms were dated and we arrived Monday after Labor Day so I can't judge them. They had a FULL HOUSE on Labor Day per the front gate. I was very impressed there was no garbage at campsites and picked up very well.

GREAT biking trails you can catch on premise and bike over to Kensington and to the charming town of Milford

      Port Huron KOA

      Commercialized

If you like this type of camping then this theme park camping is for you. It's right in town with sparse trees and very small sites. Make sure to mark the max allowed occupancy to be camping because, if you don't, you will be charged extra cash for your child to spend the day with you while spending money on their amenities. They do have a little amusement park right next door so that can help entertain the young ones for a while and we did appreciate the dog park. It's not a horrible place as we did enjoy ourselves the first visit there. The campsite we had was in the back, between 2 cabins, and that one was actually a decent size. The 2nd trip was a bummer as we were reprimanded for having my girlfriends daughter show up and have breakfast with us. Which, by the way, we bought from the and she shopped in their souvenir store and purchased items. We had to pay another $5 so we could spend that extra money at their campground. Other than that, enjoy.

      Frankenmuth Jellystone Park

Fun RV park and very close to downtown

Our site was averaged out to $82.71 a night with the weekly rate discount.

We were in Site# 306 (a deluxe plus RV site - be aware that some of these are back-ins and not clearly labeled on the site map - we had to change sites to a pull-thru). We had Full hook- up with a gravel pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep.
The site was easy to level.

Our site was not shaded with zero trees. We weren’t able to sit outside because of the direct sun until after 8:30pm.
This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The deluxe plus lot comes without a concrete patio but with a picnic table and fire ring. They do sell firewood and will deliver to your site.

There is free WiFi. They do not offer Cable TV but there are quite a few channel options.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen or community fire pit.

They do not provide garbage service at your site so you must walk to garbage dumpster.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They also allow you to rent pedal bikes. They do not provide golf cart rentals.

They do have a heated indoor and heated outdoor Swimming pool and one hot tub.

There is a Playground. They also offer Gaga ball, basketball sport court, and volleyball courts. There is a Game room for kids. They have a Putt putt course and Jumping pad.

They have a great general store. There is a separate Activity Center for kids.
There are tons of scheduled activities for kids like wagon rides, arts & crafts, scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, etc. Activities are scheduled all day from 9am to 8pm.

There is a snack bar on site from 4pm-9:30pm where you can get hot dogs, brats, pretzels, nachos, ice cream, etc.

The streets are mostly paved and good for riding bikes.

This is an RV park with cabins to rent also. Tent camping is also allowed.

They have two shower houses. The shower house has the typical stalls. There is a great area to hang clothes and store your toiletries in the shower stall. These are kept very clean.

There is a laundry facility. It is a cash only facility, but they have a change machine in the arcade room. There are approximately 4washers and 4 dryers. It is approximately $2.75 to wash and $0.75 to dry a load.

They do not have a fenced in dog park. There are areas to walk dogs though.

Flies were an issue and bug spray was needed.

There were no trails to hike off of the campground.

Some fun things to do outside of the campground are Frankenmuth FunShips (chocolate & wine tasting), the Golden Ticket Trolley, the Bavarian Belle (popcorn & sodas) River Place Shops, wineries, and Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland store. This RV park is less than a mile to downtown/River Place Shops where there is tons of shopping.

Another camper reports that Otter Lake has "great fishing and swimming, very rustic."

Water recreation: Many local lakes permit non-motorized boats and limited powerboats. At Otter Lake Park Campground, "you can rent kayaks $7/hour or a 2 person small boat for $10/hour." The campground includes "a walking trail right off the campground that leads to Rotary Park."

Hiking trails: Most campgrounds connect to nature trails of varying difficulties. Holly Recreation Area features "several well marked trails" and "the campground is well maintained and quiet." Trails range from easy 1-mile loops to more challenging routes through wooded terrain.

    What campers like

Shaded sites: The mature trees throughout the region provide natural cooling. At Holly State Rec Area, "sites were spacious, we loved the national forest." Another review mentions "the rustic Aspen loop was fine for early season but come peak season, the sites lack privacy and are kind of small."

Swimming areas: Many campgrounds maintain designated swimming beaches with varying amenities. "The beach is nice. Has a water park on the lake," reports one visitor to Holly Recreation Area. Similarly, at The New Kingslanding Kampground, "the lake is a spring fed lake with fishing and no gas engines. Its the best swimming in the area!"

Family activities: Organized events keep children entertained throughout summer months. At Covenant Hills Camp, there are "lots to do for kids" and it's "good, clean fun." The campground is described as having "good, quiet campground (unless your on a site around the playground) lots to keep the kids busy, bonus ice cream store."

    What you should know

Reservation requirements: Most campgrounds require advance booking during peak summer season. At Krystal Lake Campground, "our arrival was a little stressful. After have making a prior request for a quiet site during an advanced reservation, we were squeezed into a tight site between inconsiderate campers."

Campground size variations: Sites range from small, tightly-packed areas to more spacious setups. One camper noted that Water Tower Travel Trailer Park has "sites are long but not wide. Level. Full hookups. Wifi you can stream on. LTE cell service."

Seasonal population: Many campgrounds host permanent seasonal residents. At Hilltop Campgrounds, a visitor observed that there are "mostly seasonal campers but still sites available for those nightly/weekender campers. All sites are 50 amp full hook ups."

    Tips for camping with families

Another review mentions it has "lots of things to do. climbing wall, zip line, swimming, fishing alot of pike."

Entertainment options: Structured activities vary by campground and season. Krystal Lake Campground provides "a pool and a beach, a small store, putt putt, Kayaks," and is "perfect for that. We prefer the wagon wheel sites at the back of the park, so we can park our campers in a large circle."

Dog friendly accommodations: Many campgrounds allow pets with specific restrictions. The New Kingslanding Kampground is among the dog friendly campgrounds near Columbiaville where "day passes are available also, which is great for just beaching for the day and it is never crowded."

    Tips from RVers

Hookup locations: Some sites require extension cords to reach power sources. At Wolverine Campground, "if you're in a camper, make sure you have an extension cord. The power is quite a ways away." The campground also lacks "internet or WiFi access."

Site navigation challenges: Certain campgrounds present difficulties for larger rigs. Genesee Otter Lake Campground has "accommodations for almost any style camper along with (2) Cottages for rent as well," though site sizes vary considerably throughout the grounds.

Winter camping options: Limited year-round facilities exist for cold weather camping. Hilltop Campgrounds receives positive feedback as a "perfect, quiet winter spot. We are full timers here for the winter into spring. The campground here is simple but the people are so friendly."
