Shannondale Gate - Harpers Ferry West Virginia

Blackwell Wood Farm circa 1790, is located in Terra Rubra approximately 2 miles from the birthplace of Francis Scott Key, author of the National anthem. The farm is steeped in history, known for clay that was mined for one of the first brick kilns in the area, only 15 minutes to historic Gettysburg. On weekends when the cannons are fired you can hear them in the distance. The farm is surrounded by approximately 500 acres of farmland and beautiful pastures. The campsite is themed as a Western cattle camp complete with a real 1800s wagon, outdoor cooking area with wrought iron cooking supplies. Highland cattle are in a separate field within view. Sunsets are some of the best on the entire East coast ! Did we mention we also have 2000 Blueberry plants as well, June - August pick your own fresh blueberries !!! Bring the kids we have a roping activity, Barn playhouse and more !!!

Aside from the canvas tent, campers can also use the extra 5-person pop-up dome tent that___s provided. You'll also have a 6-ft picnic table, outdoor fire pit, 2 Tentrr Adirondack chairs, and a heating source to keep you warm and toasty at night.

Toilets: Every campsite is equipped with a camp toilet (we call it the Tentrr Loo). This is a simple wooden box with a toilet seat and a bucket inside. To use, line the bucket with a CleanWaste Sani-Bag supplied at the camp prior to use. Afterwards, simply tie the bag up and place it in a trash bag. CleanWaste Sani-Bags use a NASA-developed gelling/deodorizing agent that helps prevent spills and keeps everyone safe and clean.

Showers: Every Signature campsite comes with a Coleman Sun Shower. The sun shower has a reservoir that holds up to 5 gallons of water, potentially enough for multiple showers. It's constructed of heat-locking material that warms the water when it's left in the sun, even on cool days.

Interaction with Guests:

Beautiful spot on the Shenandoah River… You will see eagles, deer, ospreys, beaver and numerous other critters. Great fishing, boating and swimming not to mention the views. Lots of local cuisine and pubs. Flea markets and BBQ on the roadside and for those who dare the casino and horse racing!!!

We have kayaks, canoes and tubes available for rent. Fishing and flat water paddling from property and shuttle pickup. Water available. Fantastic views of wildlife!



Shenandoah Adventures

Mother Earth Organic Farm is the epitome of getting away. Camp with your tent, RV, schoolie, truck camper, or hammock tent on this marvelous organic farm with scenic pasture and mountain views. Bring your telescope or add ours as an extra. The night sky view is amazing! The Milky way is visible on clear nights. You may see farm animals including goats, chickens and cows during your stay. In addition, Mother Earth Organic Farm has a plethora of wildlife including hummingbirds, bald eagles, white egrets, turtles, bears, and foxes. There are walking trails on the farm and a 1/3 acre pond.

The Appalachian Trail (AT) is about a mile down the road (access point with ample parking). There are many parks nearby including Gambrill State Park, Cunningham Falls State Park (longest cascading waterfall in Maryland), Greenbrier State Park, and many others.



Mother Earth Organic Farm

This Tentrr site is outfitted with an extensive range of Coleman camping gear. Unwind in style with a large cooler, grill, shade canopy, lanterns, speaker, camp chairs, wagon, and more!

**Open for Winter Camping '22-'23 ** special pricing in place for winter camping includes Propane heat in the tent and does not require a two night minimum on the weekends. Depending on winter weather, site access might be limited to walk-in as the roadway to the site can not be plowed when it snows.  

Evensong Farm is a beautiful piece of preserved history and nature nestled in the hills that border Antietam National Battlefield. Come share in our appreciation of open space, rolling hills, flowing water, and shady forests. We have carefully selected campsites on our farm that will give you both privacy and sweeping views. 

Both of our expansive Tentrr sites are set up with one queen bed with memory foam mattress in the main platform tent, a private "Latrine" building that has a composting toilet and outdoor sun-bag shower, multiple seating areas, a fire pit, a kitchen and picnic area, a kitchen wash area with a foot operated sink. We provide all of our campers with drinking water, wash water, and a bundle of firewood per night. In the colder months we have a space heater available (although there is an additional charge for propane). You will have use of an additional Coleman tent if more unheated tent space is needed. This site can accommodate up to three additional tents if you want to have a gathering with up to 12 people camping together.

To make camping a bit more luxurious, and to lighten the amount of things you have to bring with you, we offer extras like bedding, a kitchen kit, a portable power station, and more. 

Wineberry is a Coleman Outfitted Site and has some great extras for you to use during your stay. These extras include- Coleman Grill, table, chairs, lantern, lighted canopy, and more!  Note- We do NOT have the Coleman cups available. If you wish to use the large, "8 person" Coleman tent, it will be provided on request. Set up and take down of this tent can be done by us for an extra fee.

Our guests will be emailed a digital camp guide and guestbook so that they can plan their stay!

Recreation:
The campsites are just a short walk away from the farm's long frontage along the Antietam Creek, a popular creek for floating and canoeing. We have a gathering area by the creek that is available for our campers to enjoy if they would like to relax Creekside. There are businesses nearby that rent tubes, kayaks and canoes or you can bring your own. You can put in or take out at the farm. Floating on the creek is highly recommended! 

We are a 10-minute drive from the C&O Tow Path, 15 minutes from the Appalachian Trail and 20 minutes from Harpers Ferry, WV where you will find companies that offer outdoor experiences like zip-lining and guided raft trips down the Potomac or Shenandoah rivers.

In the colder months we have a space heater available, although there is a charge for the propane. You will have use of an additional Coleman tent if more tent space is needed for your group. This site can accommodate up to three additional tents if you want to have a gathering with up to 12 people camping together.

Need wide-open space to unwind while enjoying some locally crafted wine and beer? We've got you! Our farm has 30 private acres of open fields, rolling terrain, wooded areas, and a running stream for wading and exploring. We are a scenic and easy 10 min drive from I-70 New Market, MD. Hang out with family and friends at your private campsite or enjoy music and libations at one of the many local wineries/breweries- most have weekend music festivals and food trucks during spring, summer, and fall months. Located in walking distance(1 mile) to Linganore Winery and Red Shedman Brewery, we are centrally located to eight other wineries and breweries that are an easy ten minute drive through scenic Frederick County farmland. Hiking more your thing? The Appalachian Trail is a mere 30 min drive and the historic C&O Canal(great for biking, jogging, hiking, and horseback riding) is a 30 min drive as well. Kayaking, tubing, rafting, and horseback riding are available in historic Harper's Ferry(35 mins) too. While there, you can check out the local shops, the C&O canal, hiking trails, and a self-guided tour of John Brown's Raid. There are plenty of local creameries(working dairy farms selling homemade ice cream, cheeses, and more) and farmer's markets for fresh farm to table fruits, veggies, and meats. We often take our two little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly.

Beyond the cabin itself, the Harpers Ferry area is great for so many reasons -- and Huckleberry Hill is just a short drive to everything.  Take in Civil War history in downtown Harpers Ferry, float down the Shenandoah River, go hiking in the woods, or explore the local wineries, breweries, and fantastic restaurants our area has to offer!
