    Bowling Green KOA

    Standard KOA/Awesome stay!

This is a typical KOA park but in an awesome area. The only downside is the traffic noise from the highway. It was not audible inside the RV so it wasn’t enough to disturb sleep.

The park has nice long pull through spaces, and quite a few long term residents of the park. They have a very nice dog park with obstacles for them in a central location to be accessed by everyone.

The sites were level and clear of obstacles. They left plenty of space for vehicles and rigs. We had a pull through patio and the space had a giant beautiful tree that was very helpful in the heat.

Equipment is well maintained at this location! Cell service for AT&T and TMobile we’re both excellent.

    Bowling Green KOA

    Nice KOA

This was a nice KOA, but some sites were small with all sites having very small fire pits made from only old tire wheels. This KOA has a pool, fishing, putt putt, dump station, general store, cabins, a little run down restroom/bath houses, kids play scape, large chess board, and a dog park. This KOA was about 20 minutes from Mammoth Cave National Park and the National Corvette Museum. Both are worth the trip to.

Maple Springs Campground — Mammoth Cave National Park

    Maple Springs Camp Group Sites

Peace and quiet, awesome set up for our 40ft fifth wheel “the big kahuna”. 4 nights, electric and water hookup. Dump site is on the mammoth cave side, only downside is the 45 minute drive around to the dump site, other than that 10/10 for campground and amenities.

COE Rough River Lake Axtel Campground

    Not the Best COE

We found out upon arrival that the check in gate is not manned/closed on Tuesdays so we took a picture of the campground(CG) map on the gate building info board to proceed to our site. Heading into the CG areas was a little confusing as the campsite signs only show the numbers of where you are and not what sites are ahead. However, it was pretty much a straight shot down to site E70 that’s an easy back-in with water& electric(50/30 AMP). The pad was just long enough for our 39’ 5th wheel and truck so when we disconnected we had to angle the truck to fit. The CG was pretty full even though it was mid week. We had a great view of the lake with easy lake access. However if it's wet, the ground is red muddy clay. We noticed that we were the last site along the lake with hookups so that was pretty cool since no one came in beside us the 2 days we were here. We explored the 100 area that’s to the right as you come in the gate. It's an interesting campsite layout that includes going up the hill above the lake. Shorter rigs, due to the site slopes, would be okay but ensure you know what you’re getting into if you decide to bring in anything over 35’ into sites 122-137. Not all sites have a steep slope(see our pics). There’s one formal walking trail we saw out the back of the 100 area. However, there’s plenty of room to walk your dogs as this is a large campground that winds around the lake. There’s also a huge swimming area which explained the draw for all the families with kids. Space between campsites varies a lot in this campground. In the 60s-70s area, the sites are nearby where other loops/areas are more spacious. For example, the hotspot map pic we provide shows decent space between sites 59 and 60, which was true so you can use that map as a guide. We got a solid two bars on Verizon and the CG WiFi was fairly good. There are WiFi coverage maps on the restroom/shower houses. We were on the outskirts of the shaded area but the WiFi still worked okay, though the signal occasionally dropped. This was the worse COE dump station we have seen to date. There are two dumps in this tight circular dump station. The first dump is on too much of an incline to effectively get all the stuff out. We moved to the second hole about a few yards away that gave us a better angle. We had to backup to depart so our rig would not go up over the curve. The dump station is also where the CG’s only dumpsters are located. There are no garbage cans/dumpsters located within the campground areas. We just didn’t“feel it” here so this CG was a one and done. Big rigs: do your research before booking a site here. There are plenty that will fit bigger rigs but there are slopes in the 100 area sites that you will not want to deal with. Dawg Haus out

    Dad's Bluegrass Campground

Very nice place right off the highway

While visiting family in Scottsville we were in need of a close by RV park for our 40’ rig. This was the perfect spot for us. With plenty of pull through sites we were able to pick from (since we came early due to forgetting the time change!) The park is very well maintained, the owner was very accommodating and helpful, especially since we had to add an extra night last minute! There is a beautiful pool, playground and basketball court for kids! The place is also pet friendly. There was a cute area inside with a TV, dvds, and books to read or take one and leave one. Also a laundry area inside. Definitely recommend staying here if you’re in the area! It’s also fairly close to Nashville and bowling green!

    Windy Hollow Camp and Recreation

    Price Gouging

I have a class A 50 amp RV and got put in a 30 amp pull thru with no sewer hookup and no wifi or cable and duck and goose poo everywhere .  The lady I assume was the owner is extremely rude and charges 60$ a day for.  The bathroom facilities are filthy and whatever you do don't buy any of the smelly outdated crap in the office store that reeks of musty mold.  Worst 4 days ever.

Guide to Dunmor

Campgrounds near Dunmor, Kentucky offer year-round camping options on varied terrain across Muhlenberg and surrounding counties. The region sits at elevations ranging from 400-600 feet with mild winters and hot, humid summers. Sites throughout the area typically feature gravel pads with varying degrees of shade, with lakeside locations providing water views but requiring advanced reservations during peak season.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: The Green River access at Livermore RV Park provides direct boat ramp access for anglers. "These sites are right off the green river, there is a boat ramp adjacent. Good people all around, and the monthly is amazingly low," notes Brandon R.

Lake recreation: Nolin River Lake at Moutardier Campground supports multiple water activities. "We kayaked around the lake which was very enjoyable - saw ducks, and birds such as a grey heron. Also lots of fish jumping. There are power boats allowed in the lake," explains Pawsfuradventure T.

Hiking trails: Seasonal hiking paths wind through wooded areas with varying maintenance levels. "There is also a two mile hike that is in the campground called Shady Creek Trail. It looked like it had not been hiked in a while but it went through woods, small stream and had a cool rock formation," reports one Moutardier Campground visitor.

Local attractions: Family-friendly motorsports events operate seasonally near camping areas. "Several interesting places along Rt 259; The Bee Spring motorsports (MUD DRAGS!) and The Bee Spring Restaurant. Further out is Ralph's Market, fuel and groceries," according to Shelly S.

What campers like

Affordable rates: Budget-conscious campers appreciate the lower monthly rates at several parks. "You can opt to pay for 50 or 30 amp service. Only cash or check accepted however," explains a Livermore RV Park reviewer who appreciated the pricing flexibility.

Holiday festivities: RJourney Clarksville RV Resort offers family activities during seasonal celebrations. "Family friendly Halloween fun. Has a decorating contest with trick or treat in the campground. Safe and clean with lots of restrooms and lake front sites," shares Laura O.

Quiet atmosphere: Several campgrounds maintain peaceful environments away from main highways. "Live quietly! This peaceful little town has a wonderfully cared for rv park right on the boat ramp to the green river," writes Brandon R. about Livermore RV Park.

Well-maintained facilities: Clean restrooms and modern facilities receive frequent mention. "The campground was very well manicured and clean. Many of the sites were right on the lake. They were close together but did not seem it as they were on different levels and angles," notes a Moutardier camper.

What you should know

Highway noise levels: Interstate proximity affects several RV parks Dunmor, Kentucky visitors consider. "The only drawback was the heavy construction equipment operations site across the road. The beeping and metallic booming started at 6 AM sharp," reports Kerry M. about Clarksville RV Resort by Rjourney.

Variable shower quality: Bathroom facilities range significantly between parks. "Bathrooms were very clean and showers had locking stall doors," reports Diane P. about one location, while another camper noted, "The showers were 'dated' - water stains but clean. Great water pressure and hot water."

Site spacing considerations: Some parks feature tight quarters while others offer more separation. "The sites were not very private, but we were there are sites right on the water, which made the limited seclusion less of a concern," explains Sara S.

Seasonal worker occupancy: Several campgrounds host long-term residents working at local industrial facilities. "Also has several seasonal workers from Paradise Power Plant staying here during an outage," notes a visitor to Hopewell RV Park.

Tips for camping with families

Playground facilities: Multiple play areas provide entertainment for younger campers. "3 playgrounds with safe clean equipment. Plant of lake view sites and positioned to provide a semi private experience," reports Laura O. about Ohio County Park And Campground.

Swimming options: Seasonal pools operate at select locations during warmer months. "Nice pool area with a community fire pit, and cool playground. Laundry room is big enough to live in and there's a small store where you check in," shares Lisa S.

Local dining: Family-friendly restaurants near campgrounds offer regional specialties. "Right outside Moutardier Campground on Rt 2067 is Sherry's Red Roof restaurant (open Sunday! And local fare; catfish, ribs, spuds, fried appetizer and ice....it is NOT fast food but the locals were eating there sooo)," suggests one camper.

Spacious tent areas: Tent campers will find ample room at designated sites. "Absolutely loved tent camping here! Several modern bath houses with showers, toilets and sinks. Tent sites are spacious enough for multiple tents/canopys to be set up," writes Laura O.

Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Most RV parks Dunmor, Kentucky area feature gravel surfaces requiring adjustment. "The sites were level. Parking is easy on the gravel lot," notes Chris O. about Western Kentucky RV Park.

Electric service options: Amperage varies between parks with some offering multiple options. "Each site has electric and water. Back in and stay awhile," explains an RV camper about one location.

Site selection strategy: Request specific areas based on noise preference and tree coverage. "Request a site as far as possible from the road," advises Kerry M., while another camper suggests, "I asked to change sites due to there being no trees on the site I had reserved. The attendant opened C loop for me, which is not directly on the lake and was in the trees."

Dump station access: Not all parks offer on-site dump facilities. "We needed to flush each tank well, as we were heading to our home base. The water pressure was good at 50 psi," reports a Clarksville RV Resort reviewer discussing the sanitary dump facilities.
