Perry, Georgia serves as a strategic hub for RV travelers along the I-75 corridor, with several well-established campgrounds catering primarily to motorhomes and travel trailers. Fair Harbor RV Park, with its 280 sites and year-round operation, anchors the local camping scene with full hookups and amenities like horse stalls and paddocks. The Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agriculture Center provides additional RV camping options during events, while nearby Twin Oaks RV Park and Crossroads Travel Park offer similar conveniences for travelers. For those seeking more natural settings, James Dykes Memorial Park and Ocmulgee WMA Primitive Camping provide basic facilities with lake access approximately 20 miles east of Perry.

Road noise represents a common consideration for campers in the Perry area, as many campgrounds are situated near Interstate 75 for convenient access. As one camper noted, "It was somewhat close to the interstate so expect some highway noise but not bad as there were trees to help block some of the noise." Summer heat and humidity significantly impact the camping experience, with temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F from June through September. Cell service is generally strong throughout the region, with multiple reviewers reporting good connectivity for both T-Mobile and Verizon networks. Most RV parks in the area maintain clean facilities, with one visitor commenting that Fair Harbor has "bathrooms/showers [that] are brand new and kept very clean."

Waterfront camping options become more prevalent when traveling 20-30 miles from Perry, particularly at lakes like Juliette and Blackshear. Dames Ferry State Park on Lake Juliette receives consistently high ratings for its waterfront sites, with one camper sharing, "90% of the spots are right on the beautiful crystal clear lake. We launched our kayaks and swam from our site so easy and convenient." The region's insect population, particularly gnats and ants, requires preparation during warmer months. Several reviewers mentioned checking sites carefully for fire ant mounds before setting up camp. Most campgrounds in the area accommodate pets, though wildlife considerations may necessitate keeping dogs leashed, especially near water bodies where snakes might be present.

    James Dykes Memorial Park Campsite

Great spot to catch some Zzz

Solid, well lit camp grounds. You could easily fit a dozen or more cars/tents here. I was alone most of the night. Would recommend if you're looking for a quiet place to camp/fish.

    Gold Lot Overnight Truck Parking

    Premier secure parking!

This was a fantastic place to park on I-75. It is a fenced and gated lot just off the interstate exit. It is well lit, safe and has easy access through a walking gate to the QT next door. Wide parking spots and free WI-FI. Even has a gazebo for picnics. Check this spot out! Easy to pay at the gate.

    Love's RV Stop-Cordele GA 801

    Great for an overnight

It’s a great option for an overnight stay. Easy in and out with large full hook up sites on large concrete pads. The campground is gated and secure. Can grab fuel and coffee on the way out in the morning. We have used this campground the last 2 years on our drive home as a last stop to really clean the tanks and get the camper ready to store. Will come again on our way home next summer.

    Claystone Park Campground

    Very nice campground

The campground is very nice. The sites are shaded and very clean. It is easily accessible and easy to get around in. The swimming beach is okay. It is a sand beach which is clean and easy to access the water, but I would not necessarily say the water is very clean. It is definitely better than many of the other lakes we have seen in Georgia, though! I would recommend staying here if you need a spot in central Georgia

    James Dykes Memorial Park Campsite

Free - far off main highway.

Given four stars cause at least it was free. I was actually the only camper there on a Monday night. It’s cool by the river if you like fishing. Bugs of course. Seems like a lot of locals would just drive down there and back. I did see some kids swimming right before I left. There’s a nice pavilion if you’re with the group. I only complain is it’s further off the main highway than I would’ve anticipated. But that’s on me!

    Killebrew Park

    Nice spots on the water

No frills campground. Some spots have large square fire rings and others have round ones. We chose a spot right under a street light so we had plenty of light after dark. There is a boat ramp, shore fishing and a fishing pier all right here. They lock the gates at 10 so its only campers after that. Pretty much each site has their own trash can though a couple share if it logistically makes sense. You just pull in, pick a site and call the dam. You need to hit extension 3/damn operations/power plant or emergency assistance after 5pm. They will send some One down from the plant and its $5 out the door per night cash only. We were told it use to be free but they started charging to keep the trouble makers away. I will absolutely return here again. Such a way better deal Than the state park that wanted like $40 🤣. They have a shower house, but its up a steep Incline so if you have mobility issues you might not be able to make it.

    Ocmulgee WMA Primitive Camping

    Beautiful and quiet

It was a beautiful drive from I-75 and the location is worth the trip. It’s not huge but the pond and lake is amazing at sunset and sunrise. It was open 24/7 including the restroom at the office. The restroom is a bit rough because of the iron in the water but the fixtures appeared otherwise clean. Only 2 other quiet campers in the campground so plenty of room to spread out.
