    Flat Creek Family Campground

Great Overnight Spot~close to Quincy & Torrey State Park

Visiting friends in Quincy, easy to reserve a last minute site. Pull through with FHU. Under $50 with our GS discount. Excellent Dog park(huge and clean with lots of grass and seating) Pool was behind our site, clean but didn’t use. Our 40” fifth wheel barely fit. The front sites, and back of the park were the best sites. Staff was friendly, and nice general store. Facilities were clean, but we didn’t use. Close to town I-10. Had fair connection with T-Mobile.

    Tallahassee East Campground

    Do not bother unless emergency

Very run down campgrounds that used to be a KOA and now a Good Sams campground. Not maintained very much even though the few staff tried to clean it a bit. Weeds, not mowed, peeling ceilings in dated bath house with exterior doors that do not close or have keyed entry. Only trash can was in laundry room which was at least open 24 hours but many machines out of order. WiFi only during business hours. Friend stayed in minimal cabin and was dim missing bulbs and smoke detector. They even charge a pet fee to clean cabin after pets.

    Brown House Hunt Camp

Beautiful, but bumpy roads and ticks

The location was beautiful with lots of birds chirping and not a lot of people around. The road to get here is flat and compact sand/dirt, but has a huge divots so you have to be careful and not go too fast.

We ended up leaving early because of the number of ticks that were present. Within a span of 30 minutes, I found and killed 7 just on myself.

Pets are allowed. Fires are allowed. There is a dumpster close to this campground. There are a couple picnic tables.

    River Junction - Lake Seminole

    Awesome surprise!

What an awesome surprise! COE campground on a dead end road (ends at the boat ramp) with water and power. Dump is just up the road on your way out of the park and super easy to get to. Level sites, nicely spaced and mostly shaded. I bet it’s even more beautiful in the spring and fall. Picnic table, fire pit, grill and a fish station at all sites. Walking distance to boat ramp and lake access. Pet friendly. Road in was paved and well maintained. First come first served and although there is a camp host on site there is no way to call to check availability. $20/night ($10/night senior citizen or Access Pass).

Ed and Bernices Fish Camp and RV Park

A hidden gem. Great place to stay. Beautiful park.

Ed and Bernices is a hidden gem.  Beautiful park.  Very peaceful.  You have a boat ramp for use with your rental.  The park and bathrooms are very clean.  Staff is very nice and helpful.  A fish cleaning station.  Bring your toys for the river, we had a blast.  Everyone in the park treated us like family.  Our pets were welcome.   Just cant say enough about this park.  I really enjoyed my time there and am going to be back soon.  You’ll love it.

    Tallahassee RV Park

    Clean and convenient

Tallahassee FL Tallahassee RV Nice campground close to I10, shopping and restaurants.Gentleman who took my reservation over the phone was very nice and helpful. The sites are gravel, very level. Many pull thrus. Sites are close together. We have a tiny trailer but sites are full hook up and can fit larger rigs. Cable TV and Wi-Fi. We were in site 1, right next to the restrooms, common room and laundry. Restrooms are singles with showers and toilet. Nice and clean. They have a great common room that has TV, games, books, piano, a nice kitchen too. It's decorated with trophy animals. I liked it but may not appeal to some. Laundry reasonably priced$1.50 wash$1 dry. The grounds are beautiful and well groomed. A cute cat was wandering around. We normally stay at state parks so the price,$51with military discount was higher than we usually pay. Overall very nice campground.

    Sugar Mill Plantation RV Park

    Basic, decent for overnight

This is a review of Sugar Mill RV Park in Ochlocknee, GA which is in south Georgia off US Hwy 19 near the Florida state line. Other reviews seem to be for a north Georgia park which is not this one.

There is no tent camping at this park.

Overnight stay in a 38' class A. Selected site 26, no online reservations, sites assigned at arrival. Very flexible on checkout time. Site was dirt/grass, FHU, 50 amp, relatively level. Hookups we're in acceptable shape, office staff(Nancy?) was very nice. Our site had some trash and charcoal left by prior guest(looks like they tried to burn) which we cleaned up. Grounds are fairly well kept. Lots of longer term/perm residents. We couldn't pick up campground wifi nor was there cable. Road noise from US 19 as expected since park borders the highway but not too bad overnight. Bugs as expected in south Georgia in May. Fairly basic campground(they do have laundry, bathrooms, showers none of which we used) but priced right. We paid $30 for a night which included the Good Sam discount. Would stay again for overnight

Guide to Cairo

Camping opportunities near Cairo, Georgia span several natural ecosystems, from coastal plains to pine forests, with many sites positioned along Lake Seminole. This region in southwest Georgia maintains average summer temperatures in the high 80s to low 90s, while winters rarely dip below freezing. Most campgrounds provide partial or full shade sites to help manage the southern Georgia heat during peak camping months from April through October.

What to do

Shoreline fishing access: Reed Bingham State Park Campground offers excellent fishing opportunities with a 375-acre lake that connects to the Little River. As one camper notes, "We love this state park park with its large wooded campsites, 375 acre lake and river for paddling & fishing, 7 miles of multi use trails for hiking & biking trails, playgrounds, and putt putt golf." The park's lake is stocked with multiple species, and fishing permits are available at the park office.

Multi-use trail exploration: Eastbank provides trail access with water views. "We happened to be there during May fly season so there were a lot of bugs. We even saw a deer while out for a walk," shared one visitor. The nearby dam creates a trail connecting Georgia and Florida, with one camper noting, "There was also a trail to the Dam, it took you from Georgia to Florida."

Boat launches: Coe Landing Campground offers direct water access for boaters. "Nearly every spot is lake view. The keepers and residents are all very polite," explains one camper. Another mentions, "Each spot is designated clearly, is level, and has its own lake vista... Oh, and there are a few docks to fish and explore upon!"

What campers like

Spacious, level sites: Tallahassee RV Park receives praise for its well-maintained grounds. "Very clean park that can accommodate big rigs. We found it to be pretty spacious and the pull through are awesome," reports one camper. Another notes, "They rake the spaces so they're nice and even. We still had a slight slope but not a big deal."

Shade coverage: Sugar Mill Plantation RV Park provides natural cooling through creek-side settings. "The sites are not pull through but they are on a creek. It is a small campground," shares one visitor. Another camper describes the environment as "the bubbling stream behind our campsite was lovely and made this place even prettier."

What you should know

Time zone considerations: When camping at Eastbank on Lake Seminole, be aware of time zone changes. "The gate closes at 10pm EASTERN Time. Once in the campground, your phone will go to central time, FYI," warns one camper. This is important for planning returns to gated campgrounds.

Insect preparation: Multiple campgrounds report significant insect activity. At Coe Landing, one camper advises, "The only reason I would drop a star (but it's not their fault) is because there were SO many mosquitoes at night." Pack appropriate repellent, especially during warmer months.

Off-season availability: Cross Creek Campground operates year-round with 56 sites offering full hookups for pets. "The Campground just opened in December of 2023. The owners are great people and go out of their way to help you out," notes a recent visitor, making it a newer dog-friendly campground near Cairo.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Earl May Boat Basin offers family facilities beyond camping. "The city has updated this campground. All sites are w/e with dump on site and large gravel pad... Playground for children," reports a camper. The paved walking trails provide safe routes for children to explore.

Multiple recreation options: Reed Bingham State Park provides diverse activities in one location. A camper shares, "There is a miniture golf and playground within sight of the campground. Good place to get together with family and friends." The park also offers rental equipment for bikes and paddling.

Safety considerations: When camping with families near water, supervision is essential. One experienced camper at Reed Bingham advises, "The beach for swimming is more of a wading beach and since I have seen the alligators in this lake i do not recommend swimming anywhere else on your own." Always check with rangers about current wildlife conditions.

Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Campers Delight OFF THE GRID LIVING offers a unique experience for those seeking alternatives to traditional camping. As a visitor describes it, "Camper's Delight is a unique off-grid experience to get away from it all on try the off-grid lifestyle."

Site selection strategy: At Cross Creek Campground, consider your RV length when booking. "Some sites are shorter than others so just make sure your rig will fit the site," advises one RVer. The campground's 56 full-hookup sites provide pet-friendly options for those seeking dog friendly campgrounds near Cairo.

Rate fluctuations: Be aware of seasonal price changes. At Tallahassee RV Park, one camper noted, "Was about double the nightly rate ($90!!!!) due to a FSU football game over the weekend but the place was only about 25% of capacity." Check local events when planning your stay at pet-welcoming campgrounds near Cairo.
