Brighton RV Resort offers 30/50-amp electric service and water connections with both back-in and pull-through sites accommodating larger motorhomes. The Glades RV Resort in Moore Haven features waterfront sites with 50-amp service, sewer connections, and trash collection. Dump stations are available at most parks, though placement of sewer hookups can sometimes be inconveniently distant from RV sites.

    Fisheating Creek Campground

    Nice Campground to Enjoy

Fish Eating Creek Outpost : Trails and canoe/kayak shuttle provided Water is a bit low right now. There is a 2 mile trail beginning in the campground. There is also a 6.7 mile trail within a short drive from the campground. I have included a map for this trail in photos.

(70 yr olds in 17’ trailer. Our rating of a campground is influenced by the following: The general ambiance- sort of wilderness feel the campground gives us. A selection of campsites which offer some visual privacy. Cleanliness of whatever type of the campsite and whatever facilities are offered is important and usually noted in my review.

Overall Rating: 3 Price 2023: $ 38 Usage during visit: Light Site Privacy: Open between sites Site Spacing: Fairly good Site surface: Most are paved . Some are soil/grass. Reservations: Accepted Campground Noise: Quiet during my visit Road Noise: Not noticeable Through Traffic in campground: No Electric Hookup: Yes Sewer Hookup: Some Dump Station: Yes Potable Water Available: At site Generators: At some sites allowed Bathroom: Flush Toilets Showers: Yes. Double Curtains Pull Throughs: Most if not all are back ins Cell Service (AT&T): 3 bars Setting: Open park like under large, scattered mossy trees . Recent Weather: to 50s for lows and to 80s for highs. Solar: In many sites should be good solar. The sites in P Loop probably will bony have adequate solar. Host: Yes. Staff friendly.
Rig size: Large rigs Sites: Perimeter sites are nicest in my opinion. Sites under the mossy trees are going to offer some shade.

P1-6 are my favorite sites here. They offer RVs more of a camping kind of atmosphere as they are a little more secluded. Not all have electric/sewer, so better check. They are under trees with moss hanging from them. Not all sites in P1-6 will accommodate a tall rig!

    Resort at Canopy Oaks

    Great Clean Site

Sites are all level, paved, and pretty big. We have a 40ft 5th wheel and fit the rig and truck on the site and still had room to spread out. Full hookups and high speed internet were available at each site as well. Plenty to do at the park from fishing, hitting golf balls, relaxing in the pool, feeding the goats, hanging out at the tiki bar, or watching the dogs run in the two dog parks. Very friendly and accommodating staff as well.

    KOA Campground Okeechobee

A great place for families and kids...

This is the largest KOA in the country...It's a Great campground for families, although I didn't go with one...There is an adult only pool, and a family pool. The Shanty, a bar is right by the adult pool, with entertainment in season and mostly on weekends. I've been there many times in the past, with my TT and my Coach...The sites are mostly large enough for Big rigs...There are upgrades to deluxe sites with brick patios, barbeques, fire pits and chairs. It's a very busy place on the holidays...If you want quiet those days, I don't suggest you go there...There is also a Golf Course, Golf Cart Rental, A nice updated store, A fenced in Dog park...

    Moore Haven KOA

    Open Park Like

KOA Moore Haven : Not my cup of tea, however looked clean and maybe appealing if I had a large RV. I would first research what of interest the area offers.

    Ortona South

    River or Grassland Views

Ortona South Campground, ACE campground in Moore Haven, FL. We absolutely love staying here. There are no trails nearby (The unofficial trail near site 21 is closed off due to construction up river.)but a nice walk on the access road out to the highway is a 4 mile round trip from the back of the campground. Lots of dump truck traffic on this road from the nearby gravel yard. (Scale 1- bad, 5-Very good

(71yr olds in a 17’ trailer. Our rating of a campground is influenced by the following: The general ambiance- sort of wilderness feel the campground gives us. Also, a selection of campsites which offer some visual privacy and/or scenic view is valuable. Cleanliness of the facilities that are offered is important and usually noted in my review. ))

Overall Rating: 4 for the spectacular views in most sites.
Price 2023: $ 15 w interagency pass Usage during visit: Full Site Privacy: Open. In our corner site , #21, we were able to swing our 17’ trailer around to offer much more privacy with the water view. This could be done with a small van as well or an RV pulling in nose first. # 20 is the most private site. Site Views: Some sites have very nice water views, others nice open grassland views. Noted below. Site Spacing: Good
Site surface: Concrete Reservations: Yes. Sites in this campground is in high demand.
Campground Noise: Quiet. Road Noise: None Through Traffic in campground: None Electric Hookup: Yes Sewer Hookup: No Dump Station: Yes Potable Water Available: At sites Bathroom: One in each loop. Flush toilets. Old. Reasonably clean. Showers: Two showers in each bathroom with curtains which share a dressing area.
Pull Throughs: Some - in the first of two loops. Pull throughs all are in the first loop and include a double site.
Cell Service (AT&T): 3 to 4 bars Setting: Campground runs along a the Caloosahatchee River. Open grass land with scattered palm trees on the other side. The campground road runs between the campground and grass land in the first loop only. Recent Weather: 80’s for 5 of our days. Then it cooled off with some rain. Bugs: Mosquitoes are around in the evening, especially . Solar: Would be available in all sites. Host: Sites are near the entrance Rig size: Large rigs are fine in most if not all sites.

Sites: First Loop, just after the entry station (31-50): SITES ALONG CALOOSAHATCHEE RIVER but view is limited : 32-39. 23 ,24 have a nice view up a waterway. Largest site occupying largest area is on the corner (no real view): 31. Fishing dock, access is between site, 32 and 33, and across from site 51. 44 and 43 are pull throughs, and do not offer as much as other sites regarding location/view. Same with the double back in sites,45 and 46.

SECOND LOOP, furthest from entry station: (1 - 30): #29 has a palm barrier giving picnic side nicer privacy. Sites 21 - 30 are right along the river, all with nice water views. #24- 30 , are the best water view sites. 21,22 and 23 water views up the river are a bit limited due to vegetation on the riverbank up the river. All these sites view the river down to the dam. Sites on the river side have more space between sites than the grassland side, 1-20. Maybe that is so sites on the grassland side can still see the river in between the more spacious sites on the river side. Across from #2,3,4 sites is the access to the dam crossing which accesses the fishing dock on the other side. The corner site, #20, offers the absolute most privacy of any site with a grassland view. (I liked the grassland view sites, but I prefer the water views.)

#1 has a building right behind it which detracts from, but does not eliminate the grassland view.

There are fishing docks on both sides of the Calossahatchee, but I have been told that the fishing on the other side of the river is better. The dam crossing to access the other side is open from 7:30AM untill 4:30PM.

All sites have a covered picnic table .

    Okaloacoochee Slough Hunt Camp

    Nice and Peaceful

Hunt Camp, Okaloacoochee SF: We stayed at the nearby Overflow CG. I expect this would have been the same quiet and peaceful experience, as noticed during our walks by Hunt Camp. (Scale 1- bad, 5-Very good

Kilpatrick Hammock Campground — Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park

    Awesome stargazing and wildlife

If you love camping, wildlife, and stargazing but still want the convenience of amenities (i.e electricity, running water, bathroom, shower) then this is the place for you.

Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park is part of IDA International Dark-Sky Places. The park has little light pollution and also a stargazing pad where you can also camp on.

The campgrounds aren't large but the campsites are good for tents and RVs. The one site we stayed at had water and electric hook-ups and a firepit. We were close to very clean restroom area that also had showers, washer and dryer. They do have primitive campsites for the more rustic individuals. The campgrounds are about 45 minutes from town, but the ranger station sells ice for $2.50 and firewood purchase is by honor system. We also saw other campers with their dogs so pet-friendly as well.

Lots of hiking trails and so much wildlife. We saw deer grazing near our campsite!

Make sure to bring lots of mosquito repellent, especially in the summer months. Otherwise you'll get bit...a lot! But it is Florida after all.

    Barlow's Fish and RV Camp

    Great lil fishing spot

Great lil place. Staff is very friendly. Small clubhouse with laundry, pool table and dart board. Neighbors were great. Mostly long term snowbirds. Few double wide trailers with full timers. Hookups are great. I would recommend.

Guide to Venus

RV campgrounds near Venus, Florida offer diverse seasonal options ranging from waterfront settings to rural retreats. Located in Florida's central region about 120 miles northwest of Miami, Venus sits amid agricultural land and natural areas, giving campers access to both nature preserves and nearby attractions. Many campgrounds in this area remain open year-round despite fluctuations in temperature and humidity between Florida's distinct wet and dry seasons.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: At Lake Josephine RV Resort, campers can fish directly from the property. "The park is very nice with a dock and lake," notes Mark P. "Nice fishing lake at the site," confirms Steven A., highlighting the convenience of on-site angling.

Antique shopping: RV parks near Venus provide convenient access to nearby towns with unique shopping experiences. "Best part about it, close to Arcadia where one can easily spend the day between the murals on many buildings to downtown where there are a ton of collectable and antique shops, including the 'haunted' Opera house as seen on ghost hunters," shares Robert M. from his stay at Encore Toby's.

Nature exploration: Several campgrounds back up to natural areas, offering wildlife viewing opportunities. At Silver Palms RV Resort, guests appreciate the natural setting. Chad N. mentions, "We stayed at a lot that backed up to the nature preserve it was fabulous to look out our back window and look at nature and not another RV."

What campers like

Friendly community atmosphere: Many RV campgrounds near Venus cultivate a welcoming environment. At Encore Pioneer Village, Tim G. notes, "This is a park with permanent sites, transient and seasonal people, with the locals prominently making the social life active and fun." This social aspect makes longer stays more enjoyable.

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention well-maintained amenities as a highlight. "The pool and other amenities are pretty nice," notes Eric R. about Encore Toby's, while Mark P. appreciates that Lake Josephine offers "clean showers and bathrooms. Nice laundry faculty also."

Peaceful settings: Despite proximity to highways, many Venus area campgrounds offer quiet environments. Dana H. describes NOFO GROVES Getaway as a "Very beautiful, quite and peaceful location for camping out," adding it was "the most peaceful spot to camp at" during a month-long stay.

What you should know

Site spacing varies: While some parks offer generous spacing, others place units close together. Eric R. points out that at Encore Toby's, "The Transits spots were tight. I had less than 6 ft between us after slides were out." In contrast, at Lake Josephine, Mark P. found "Lots of recreation activities also. Can be a little tight in certain spots for larger RV'S."

Seasonal population changes: Many campgrounds experience significant demographic shifts throughout the year. Tim G. observes at Pioneer Village: "It's declared full, yet lots of spaces have yet to be filled, so it is nice to be some of the first ones here for the season." Several parks have significant Canadian seasonal residents.

Environmental initiatives: The Glades RV Resort has implemented significant sustainability measures. According to Marci M., "We're honored to be selected 1 of 3 green parks of the year by ARVC! Our Solar Farm is engineered to power the electric needs of our 400 site park, golf course, and marina."

Tips for camping with families

Consider proximity to attractions: Look for RV campgrounds near Venus with easy access to family-friendly activities. Julian G. recommends Brighton RV Resort as a "Friendly environment, secluded nice little spot for fishing. Highly recommend."

Check pool availability: Florida's heat makes pools essential for family comfort. Robert M. notes that Encore Toby's offers "laundry, hot tub and a heated salt water pool as well as a small pond with a gazibo to utilize on the campgrounds."

Look for community activities: Parks with organized social events provide entertainment options. Tim G. mentioned that Pioneer Village has "an active population" with "the clubhouse and pool areas are nice and friendly."

Tips from RVers

Plan for hookup locations: Several campers mentioned unusual sewer hookup placements at Venus area RV parks. Mark P. cautions about Lake Josephine: "Good power. Good water pressure. Sewer connections were very far way."

Verify amenity status before booking: Temporary facility closures can affect stays. Eric R. shares, "What they didn't tell me when I came in was the one and only restrooms for the men's is under construction and can only use porta-potties."

Consider lot-backing features: When booking, request information about what's behind your potential site. Chad N. from Silver Palms RV Resort valued that his lot "backed up to the nature preserve" and included "gazebo to sit outside and enjoy."
