    Cedar Key, Florida

The island village of Cedar Key off the west-central coast of Florida is joined by a causeway and three bridges across four miles of shallow salt marsh. Home to clammers and fishermen, its picturesque charm draws artists, tourists, writers, showbirds and nature lovers. It is Florida’s second oldest settlement and the end point of naturalist John Muir’s thousand mile walk to the Gulf. Cedar Key, which still looks like a frontier town in places, has developed a reputation for its artisan shops and seafood restaurants along Dock Street. Commercial fishermen farm clams, which have become a culinary icon. The Cedar Key RV Resort is an RV resort and campground located less than 10 minutes from historic Cedar Key, Florida. With large concrete pads, averaging 45×80 ft in size or larger, RV owners and campers will enjoy only the best features including a beautiful heated pool, very clean bathhouses, lots with paved roads, concrete patios, wireless internet, Cable TV and full hookups with 30-50 amps. Pets are always welcome at the Cedar Key RV Resort and we have a special dog park. What you won’t find are traffic jams, red lights, franchises or high rises! Our focus is your peace and tranquility while you stay with us. Please Contact us for sales information in addition to our fine rentals.

    Great location. Easy access

Nice clean facility, bathrooms and showers, RV hook ups. We got a spot right on the waters edge. A pool is in the works! Close to Cedar Key town. You can rent bikes right down the street. Very pleasant staff.

    Strawberry Fields for RV'ers

    Great site while passing through.

Strawberry Fields for RVers has lots of potential. It's a clean and well kept area for RVs to park and stay for a few nights. Nice and quiet. The laundry and bathhouse are impeccable, we look forward to the owners building more in the expanded areas. This park looks to have long term construction so there may be some noise at times. We will certainly be returning as this is the best location for transiting to central Florida while staying off the interstates. Sites have full hookups but missing picnic tables.

    Lucky Charm RV Park

    Feeling Lucky!

We stopped at Lucky Charm for 2 nights! What an awesome spot. There are large beautiful trees with Spanish moss all over the property. Every site is a Pull-thru and very long. Can easily fit Class A's or Big 5th wheels. Full hook-ups. They have a pool, bathhouse, and laundry facilities. The owners were great. We arrived in the dark and they guided us by flashlight to our spot. We would stay there again and highly recommend Lucky Charm RV Park.

    World Equestrian RV Resort

    First Class Horse Camping

If you are watching, training or riding world-class horses and find yourself here at World Equestrian RV Resort, you'll experience brand-spanking-new facilities, complete with its very own petrol station. It’s a mall-like parking lane maze of slots designed exclusively for the RV camping lot– so sorry fellow tent campers, you’ll have to keep looking for higher ground. For the RV’ers out there, you’ll be pleased with the new sticker smell of this place, complete with all of the standard water, electric and sewar hook-ups. There’s decent space between you and your neighbors, although there is zero privacy in this greenery-free parking lot. If you’re hauling horses, then you’ll have plenty of space, but the place is incredibly high maintenance when it comes to cleaning up after yourself(or your mares!). That said, it’s a stone’s throw to the World Equestrian Center, so what this place lacks in ambiance and nature, its proximity, newness and ease of navigation make it an attractable location to stay in.

    Happy Camping!

    Village Pines Campground

    It’s affordable, a good location, & et

Our little family booked this place last minute, though no reviews, we threw the dice & got lucky. The campground has primarily full time RV residents and 55+ mobile homes. The facilities were clean. Had full hook ups and etc. some of the campers (full time) looked a little bit on the older side but everybody was NICE and I felt 110% safe (were traveling with a toddler so safety is my number one concern). The groundskeeper and manager live at the park and are extremely accommodating. It’s not a luxury RV park so if you’re looking for the glitz and glam - this isn’t it. Wi-Fi is slow - so that’s the only negative I have to say about the property.

    Otter Springs Park & Campground

    Nice family Friendly Park

Located in the town of Trenton, Florida is this gem of a spot loved by the locals and tourists alike. They offer Lodge Rentals, RV Sites, Tent Camping & Cabins, Heated Pool & Great access to Otter Springs and the Suwannee River. There is a day use area, canoe & kayak rentals, basketball and volleyball court, and canoe rentals available. You can fish in the spring run or on the Suwannee River. We chose to camp in site with water and electric so we were in an RV spot but they have a designated tent camping area with water access and no electric.

We enjoyed exploring the over 600 acres, river, springs, nature trails and loved getting ice cream in the store after! The camp store has just about all you might run out of. Be prepared with insect repellent at dawn and dusk. Sites are spacious enough - not too close together but not much privacy either. If you do not like noise choose a sight away from the pool! RV sites have Full hookup: Electric (30& 50 amp.), water, and sewer. Good Sams memberships are accepted.

This is a great place to host a local event and they are VERY Veteran Friendly offering 15% off on daily and weekly camping. There is Wifi is available in the Pool Pavilion.

Though this place is not brand new and shows some age, it has a wonderful, welcoming feeling. We really enjoyed our stay!

    Chassahowitzka River Campground

    Clean, easy access to water

It’s a clean park with easy access to boat rentals (kayaks, canoes) and a boat launch if you have your own. Publix and Walmart are ~10 minutes away if you need anything. I came in September after a heavy rain and it was pretty buggy. Bring mosquito repellent. There are a number of long term campers with poorly kept RVs, but everyone is friendly.

    Sunset Isle RV Park

Now Sunset Isle Again - No Tiny homes

Camptel leased Sunset Isle for a year and now they are gone. The property is back as an RV park under the Sunset Isle name with renovations and much needed site improvements planned this summer. The 22/23 season should have improved sites and hookups. It's all about location! This is a great place to camp with friendly staff and great Sunset views! Waterfront sites are currently $60 and others are $40. FHU's with cable make it a steal in my opinion. The link is all the web presence they have until the renovations are done. If you are expecting a resort property, this is not it. It is more old Florida fishing village vibe with lots of trees and gravel roads and grass on some sites. I booked a week but loved Cedar Key so much, I extended for a 2nd week!

    Quail Roost RV Park

    Nice quiet park

The park is centrally located to many of the attractions including Weeki Wachee, Silver Springs, Homosassa State Park and others. Manatee viewing, kayaking and swimming with manatees is one of the top attractions. Kayak and boat rentals as well as tours are plentiful.

The park is relatively small with approximately 50 sites, some seasonal and some long term sites also. The park is very well kept, clean and orderly. There is a recreation room and swimming pool.

Also located directly across the street is an RV sales and service business. Very convenient. Many restaurants and local shopping are located close by.

Last minute booking for weekend visit with family. Jane was very helpful and accommodating making our reservation. FHU, site mostly level, at entrance of the park. Well kept grounds, a bit pricey but it was last minute.

    Devil's Den Spring

    Neat spot

The campground has cabins, RV hookups and tent sites. It's nothing to write home about. It was just convenient to be close to the springs since it's a decent drive from any other major city in Florida. The springs themselves are quite cold so in the end we didn't spend that much time swimming - we probably could have driven back home and not camped after all. The Devil's Den itself is very neat to see, definitely worth going to at least once to snorkel or scuba dive. But if you can drive back to wherever you're staying, I would! I only took pics of the spring and not of the campground unfortunately. Enjoy!

    Homosassa River RV Resort

    Nature’s Resort RV & Park

Out site D12 backs right up to the pier over looking the Hall River. We have seen manatees, turtles and flying fish. You can fish, kayak, rent pontoon boats or bring your own. This campsite is perfect for all kinds or Florida water activities. It does seem pretty full and some of the sights seem somewhat cramped. There are also a substantial number of long term residence here as well.

    Nature's Resort

    Packed In

If someone were to read my past reviews of other campgrounds one might think I’d never found one I didn’t like. Until now that would be true. This campground is a full-time and appears long-term residence for many and as a result has very little feeling of getting away from sprawl. Our site A-20 was one of the hardest back-ins I’ve yet experienced and it had everything to do with how close adjacent sites were. It’s a shame because it’s location on a tributary of the Homosassa river is prime but it’s just too many people. The amenities pool, laundry, bathhouse, on-site bar& grill are all nice but not really something we look for when camping. They offer pontoon boats for rental which we did only to discover we wouldn’t be allowed to take it anywhere near the Gulf of Mexico where the best fishing can be found. Boat ran fine but the motor was the only part that wasn’t long overdue for retirement. All in all the whole experience has turned me off to one of my all time favorite parts of Florida. As for the long-term residents, I understand the attraction of a permanent home on wheels and a safe place to park it. What I can’t tolerate is the flying of Confederate flags, Trump No More Bullsh*t flags it’s just impolite and I think would be bad for business. To each his own but we will not go back or recommend it.

    Manatee Springs State Park Campground

Very nice state park with great campground

The nicest campsite we have ever had. Paved, pull through, full hook-ups. Very shady and private sites. The bathrooms were very clean. Highlights of camping at Manatee Springs are the springs and the manatee sightings. We were there in January and the manatees were a bit elusive, but we did see some in the Suwannee River which runs parallel to the park. There is an 800-foot long boardwalk that winds through a cypress tree forest and the 8-miles of trails were great for running, hiking or biking. There wasn't a lot to do in the surrounding area although we did make a side trip to Cedar Key, a very interesting little town on the coast. We stopped at Shell Mound on the way back. It is an archeological site in the Lower Suwannee National Refuge where native people created a mound of shells from seafood. The shells formed the little spit of land that still exists there. On another day, we drove to the Withlacoochie bike trail to ride. It was about 45 minutes from the campground but worth it. We rode from Citrus Springs to Floral City. The 2nd half was more scenic than the first with lots of lakes near the trail.

    Great! Super clean and quiet

When we go camping we like our peace and quiet and let me tell you that's exactly what we got here. I can't even explain how nice it was to come to a place that wasn't near a roaring highway, airport, train etc. I haven't slept that well in years. The pool was fabulous and very nicely kept. Grass lots were level. Full hook up was a huge plus. We got to bring our dogs and even had a dog park. They had horses in the pasture nearby which was neat. Over all thoroughly enjoyed our experience and can't wait to return.

Nice little “old school” rv park

Booked a spot here over the New Years weekend as we travel through Florida. This is a small, family owned rv park. 15 back-in sites. Very friendly owner. You book by calling in only. The town of Steinhatchee has more to offer than Perry where we stayed at KOA. Only complaint is need to upgrade the wifi.

    Decent getaway

Stayed here during Father’s Day weekend of 2021. Nice size campsites with full hook-up and fire rings. Bathhouse was clean but never seem to have hot water. Even overheard other campers mention the lack of hot water. I could connect to WiFi but it was not connected to the internet. The campground is .6 miles to the springs most campers brought bicycles or golf carts to make the trek. Once at the springs you have plenty of room to throw a blanket down cause it’s huge. Hint if you stay here campsite 71 is at the entrance and will give you the most room for a front yard.

    Shell Mound Campground

    Shell Mound Levy County Campground

The photo associated with this description is a picture of the cedar key tourist area- not Shell Mound Campground.  However, situated approximately 4 miles away, Shell Mound is an incredible camp site for tent camping, RV camping, kayak camping.  It’s a county run park and only 10$ night for tent camping or pickup truck camping.  It has a clean bath for men and for women and hot showers for both.   Boat ramp only usable at high tide- otherwise need your airboat to slide up in low tide.  Short hiking trails just to the south through the salt marshes and amazing archaeological mounds and history in walking distance. This is the best of Florida.  At night, grab dinner and drinks in cedar key and come back to your camp site next your fire. Sleep good listening to crickets, owls, and other critters. Wake up to the glorious sun rising over the salt marshes! Use this site as a home base to explore the Lower Suwannee wilderness areas owned by the federal and state governments!

We love small RV parks with easy living and charm. Cedars Lake is such a park in Old Homosassa Florida. Sites are situated around a small pond, under large oak canopies. The full-time and part-time folks are friendly. The management couple, who live onsite, are welcoming and very helpful. And Ernie, the Blue Heron, is entertaining. Essentials include laundry, wifi, picnic tables, pool, rec room, etc. Close to lots of things to do, like state parks, walking trails, museums, manatee watching, fishing. There must be 30+ local restaurants nearby. The Museum Cafe (authentic Cuban sandwiches) is our favorite. We've stayed in all types of RV parks from WA to FL and this is the sweetest. Initially we reserved it for a week and, once here, stayed three weeks because it was a charming home away from home.
