Small USFS campground. If you like aspens, chirping birds, curious deer, and…relief from lower elev heat, give a visit. A few FF spots can fit campers 25' or less, bring extra blocks to level.
Great hiking right out of the CG.
When the larger river campgrounds were full, this one was 1/2 empty. No real river views, dense willows, but quiet and at just 6 miles to Moab, a great adventure launching CG space #2 can take a 30ft trailer.
Oh and don't be that Douc#e that skips on payment, two nights, both our neighbors skipped on the measly $20 the BLM charges to maintain the space. There still free boondocking spots north of town …
The other reviews all have good info. More than half the sites can accommodate rigs up to 30' many have a LOT of privacy….for a campground…. Fishing is great for brownies, maybe an occasional rainbow. Short drive into Gunnison. If peace and quiet are your thing, you'll love this place. As an exploration base for area adventures, maybe a campground with electricity would be more your flavor.
Stunning spot, lots of tent sites, room for maybe 12 campers of modest length, mine is 26' spot #9 is prime for a camper with a driver side slide/kitchen table. unknown if it's seasonal but the biting flies, primarily deer flies are beyond bearable, I survived 4 days, most other campers left after one night. The camp host is very friendly, and knows the best fishing holes.
