Best RV Parks & Resorts near Six Rivers National Forest

Several RV parks surround Six Rivers National Forest, offering diverse options for motorhome travelers. Klamath River RV Park features 99 sites with full hookups including 30/50 amp service, situated along the Klamath River with gated security and strong WiFi for remote workers. Kamp Klamath RV Park provides 69 big-rig friendly sites with full hookups, while Mad River Rapids RV Park in Arcata maintains 92 sites with 30/50 amp electrical service. Del Loma RV Park, located on Highway 299, offers 59 sites with full hookups though spacing can be tight between permanent and short-term sites. "We camped at site 28, which was actually a group site. It was great to have a large unoccupied area to one side," noted one traveler at Del Loma, highlighting the importance of site selection.

Navigation to some RV parks requires careful planning, particularly for larger rigs. Highway 36 from Highway 101 features numerous curves with limited pull-offs, making access challenging for longer motorhomes. Cell service varies significantly throughout the region - Verizon coverage is spotty near Del Loma but stronger near coastal RV parks. Most RV campgrounds in the area remain open year-round, though summer reservations should be secured well in advance. Dump stations are available at most parks, though quality varies; one reviewer mentioned Humboldt County Fairgrounds has "by far the worst RV dump that I've used." Pet policies are generally accommodating, with designated dog areas at several parks including Emerald Forest RV. Propane is available on-site at select locations, particularly useful during cooler coastal seasons when heating needs increase.

    Humboldt County Fairgrounds

Good place for a few days

Plenty of room for all RV’s large to small. 30 & 50 amp power and water. Clean restrooms, heated and free. Many long term residents. The spots are level, it felt safe enough. Quiet. Close to Ferndale, which is Must See. Access from Fernbridge of of 101 as the other roads are very twisty for all but the smallest RVs. Camp host was great! Short drive into Eureka. Patriot Gas has a car wash for big rigs. Not really a photogenic campground. Very open area surrounded by fields with cows, farms and trees in the distance. Used the RV dump as I left. It’s by far the worst RV dump that I’ve used. It works, but needs a complete rebuild. I suggest requesting a spot with full hookups.

    Humboldt County Fairgrounds

Nothing fancy, but convenient to Ferndale, and quiet

I stayed here twice for a total of eight days. Many long-term Residents give the place a seedy feeling. Ultimately it is safe and secure. And well managed. The bathroom is clean, heated, free showers and the combination is changed weekly. Large grassy area with good spacing between most RVs. I was in the middle of the campground for short term parking. Because of recent rains and some soggy areas I had to overnight campers close to me. 30 amp and 50 amp power and water at each side. The largest downside to this place is the RV dump station inside the fairgrounds. It’s the worst one that I’ve ever used. It needs to be completely rebuilt. No ultimately it did work. Great location to the picturesque town of Ferndale California. Also a convenient location for exploring the Lost Coast area. 12 miles away from Eureka California which has a Costco and Patriot gas station on the south end of town has a car wash that can accommodate RVs.

Del Loma RV Park and Campground

    Beautiful Trinity River

En route Phone GPS was not reliable, luckily they have a big sign. Check in was ok, family run business and the office was a mess. Small store carries some essentials. You have to drive through several long term older Travel trailers that look like they have been there for years. I camped at site 28, which was actually a group site. It was great to have a large unoccupied area to one side, but the other side had an unoccupied long term TT that stunk like rotten fish. It was so bad we never put out our patio rug, or cooked outside. Across the way was a clean small pool which was very nice. We enjoyed riding our bikes around the loop, and walking down to the Trinity River. There are 2 river spots from the campground. Both are scenic, only one is safe to enter the water and that spot had a very small river rock spot to set up a couple chairs. If you are tent camping or in a smaller RV, their are some better sites that are further away from the permanent old Travel Trailers closet to the entrance. If you are there over a weekend they do have a very large outdoor laser tag area. They technically do have a free Wi Fi, however it is very weak, almost nonexistent. Verizon had no cell coverage.

    Klamath River RV Park

    Clam Beach County Park

    Sand Beds

There are 9 sandy campsites with picnic tables and fire rings. There are two permanent vault toilets and a one clean portable are available. There is running water. Large pull through parking spots are convenient for campers/RVs.

Campsites are divided by logs and offer no privacy from each other. There is beach access from the campground. The beach is large with sand dunes, marsh, beach grass, and drift wood. Wooded hills and shrubs surround the campground.

3 stars due to proximity to freeway, you can see and hear vehicles; as well as lack of privacy. Also near a local airport, the campground directly under takeoff path.

Located near many great attractions and not far outside of town. 25 dollars a night makes this a cheap alternative to the Private and State Parks in the area that are often booked up.

Please leave the campsites cleaner than you found them.

    Happy camping!

Kamp Klamath RV Park and Campground

    Amazing Staff

New fifth wheel with a sliding hitch was giving me issues with a back in site. The staff escorted the took the time to work with me to get the rig parked perfectly in the spot (great that he is a big rig driver!). The is a great location in the middle of the redwoods. Definately a ton of tent camping and lots of trails.

    Pearch Creek Campground

Beautiful and secluded, challenging access to redwoods national park

This campsite is in a big stand of redwoods, which are beautiful and keep it cool, but not cold. There was only one other party there when I stayed, plus the campground hosts who were extremely kind and helpful. The drive in through Six Rivers National Forest was stunning with winding roads along a light blue river through pine-covered mountains.

The only downsides to this campsite were: 1) no service whatsoever, not even in town and 2) the road to get to redwoods national park is pretty remote, with a ~5 mile unpaved stretch with lots of potholes. If you're trying to find an inexpensive place to stay away from the hustle of 101, this is perfect!
