Several RV parks operate near Kelseyville, California with varying amenities for motorhome travelers. Konocti Vista RV Park offers full hookups including 50-amp electrical service, water connections, and sewer hookups for larger motorhomes. The Aurora RV Park & Marina, located on Clearlake, provides water views with back-in sites that include electric, water, and sewer connections. "Spaces are close. Some don't even have area for chairs or picnic tables," noted one RV traveler about Russian River RV Campground, which offers 30-amp service but lacks sewer hookups, requiring portable waste tanks or honey wagon service. Sites at these parks typically accommodate rigs up to 45 feet, though some parks have tighter spacing and aging asphalt pads that may present leveling challenges.

Access routes into some parks involve narrow, winding roads that may present difficulties for larger motorhomes. RV travelers should note that Russian River RV Campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis rather than accepting reservations. Dump stations are available at most parks, though Aurora RV Park & Marina and Konocti Vista RV Park provide full sewer hookups at individual sites. Pet policies vary, with most parks allowing pets but enforcing leash requirements. During summer months, particularly July and August, advance planning is essential as lakefront sites fill quickly. Cell service throughout the region remains generally reliable at established RV parks, though it can weaken in more remote areas between towns. Propane is not available at most campgrounds, requiring trips to nearby service stations.

      Bodega Bay RV Park

Bodega Bay for a couple days

Checked in a little later in the day- they had our name and spot on a sheet tacked on the bulletin board at the check-in area-

Our spot was very close to the entrance – mostly level a little angle downhill so bring some blocks.

First made the mistake of trying to back in- it turns out these are pull in spots, so make sure if you’re not in a pull through that you read the sheet and determine if you should pull in or back in.

Fairly quiet on a Saturday night close to town and a very comfortable stay.

Only electric and water hook ups but 50 amp is really nice and they have a dump here at the park. You can use when you check out.

When I did have a chance to meet them in the office, they seemed really nice at the front desk, and kind of surprised that we would check in our second vehicle :) maybe most people don’t. ;)

Porto Bodega Marina & RV Park

      Good spot for power+shower+refresh.

This was some “glamping” for us. We’re in a van with no consistent onboard power or water, so we do a night or two out and a night at a site with more amenities. This was a perfect stop driving south on the 1 after the previous night remote on the coast and a planned need for StarLink with power source. Park is clean and well-organized, if tight, and the bathrooms are super clean and door-coded, with included hot showers. Right on the marina, fun if you enjoy harbor/boating scenery, and good food within walking distance. No way - that I found - to reserve online, but a phone call at 9am on a Saturday was returned within 10 minutes and got it done. Range of big rigs to camper vans, easy access and enough room to negotiate into spots. Very welcoming, safe, laid back environment.

      Westside Regional Park

Great views, but close to the neighbors

First, you stay here for the views. Great views from the first two rows closest to the water. There are very few plantings between spaces. No hook ups at all, but water is available if you fill before you park. Seven dollar dump station. Each campsite has a fire ring and a wooden picnic table and grass. Since there’s no hook ups between the hours of 8 AM and 8 PM, you will always be listening to somebody’s generator running. Always. No privacy at this campground. I did not check out the bathrooms for the campground, but I did look at the bathrooms for the large boat launch area next-door. No showers in that bathroom, but it was clean. A bit spendy for no hookups. Safe. Zero long term campers when I was here. There are no first come first served campsites at this location. All camping spaces had a reserve sign on them, even though the place was about 40% full. Completely dark at night, which was great.

Letts Lake Campground — Mendocino National Forest

      Dry Campig for 35' RV

We originally were going to Fouts Creek Campground but it was HOV weekend (Presidents). Lots of dirt bikes and law enforcement. National Forest pulled in officers from surrounding forests and Sheriff Depts.

With a 35' Class A our options were limited. A Ranger suggested Letts Lake. There is a narrow one lane newly paved road that goes up to Dixie Glade equestrian camp, from there it is dirt. Taking it slow, we made it to Letts Lake and parked in spot 12. It was a tight fit, but we made it.

There are two additional campgrounds at the opposite end of the lake but they are closed for winter. As there was no water or trash service there was no fee. Typically $5.00)

The lake is small with no motors allowed but easy to walk around. Pet friendly in fact all but one campsite had at least one dog.  Fire damage to the forest is substantial but new growth is already starting

      Sugarloaf Ridge State Park Campground

Wooded with a creek, many trails, family friendly in the North Bay.

The campground at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park offers a range of decent sites. There are certainly some that are better situated than others regarding size, shade, and other amenities--but the entire campground is nice. Well maintained, and located in a State Park that is run by a non-profit "Team Sugarloaf". Sonoma Creek runs along the campground and there is a waterfall a short hike away. There are showers for a quarter per minute, if you want to freshen up after a big hike like to the peak of Bald Mt. Visitor's Center has educational displays, maps, and a variety of items for sale. Ice and fire wood available. Each site has a table and fire pit. Great little get away spot that feels farther in the wilderness than it is at all. Close to Sonoma and Santa Rosa. Year-round camping--beautiful in all seasons.

There is also an observatory in the park, one Saturday night per month the hold "Star Parties" and for just $2 you can spend the evening looking through great telescopes and learning about space from experts. Kids are free! It is walking distance from the campground. If you have flashlights that have a red night-vision setting, those are recommended to use there--otherwise they'll give you red cellophane to cover your light so that it doesn't interfere with star viewing.

      Middle Creek Campground

      Great place for dry camping

Beautiful location, campground was easily accessible going up Elk Mountain Road. Camped in Site 11, pull through, no hook ups, nice picnic table, grill and fire pit. Vault toilets, no showers. There is potable water close to the campsites. Very quiet during the week, it did get noisier on the weekends, but everyone settled down for the evening.

Bodega Dunes Campground — Sonoma Coast State Park

      Clean campground

There is upward of 90 sites, many are for just tents and are on sand with fire pit. I have our travel trailer there and are the site # in the 70's and are on a asphalt pad, which makes it cleaner and level. Down side would be close to a road and traffic during day, but at night very quiet except for fog horn which is no big deal. The beach walks and adventuring the coast and local fair makes it all worth it. Water and dump station available, not at campsites but at entry of park

Wright's Beach Campground — Sonoma Coast State Park

      Great with the right site!

Such a gem here! Less than two hours from Oakland.  We'll return soon.

      Highlights:

      1. Sites 13 and 15 of the Bodega Dunes loop are by far the best sites.  The others had uneven tent pads or awkward orientations.  The pull-throughs are barely off the road and very sandy.  Take extra blocks if you go because our site was uneven tip to tail.

      2. Easy to maneuver big rigs, we saw some 5th wheels, and 25+ footers in here.

      3. This smaller loop of Bodega dunes is so quite, the other loops are sandy and crowded close together.  It was a very different vibe.  It was Memorial Day weekend but our site was out of chaos down below, kids running all around.  Great if you have a gaggle and want to let loose, but if not, stick to the loop with sites 13 and 15.

      4.  A very short drive to the water.

      5. A little trial behind the site connects you to a Sunday farmers market and a Mexican restaurant.  That's about a 10 minute scenic walk.

      6. The dump station and water fill up spigot were excellent.

      7.  It's 10 minute drive to Fishermen's cove. A FANTASTIC restaurant. Everything we ate was excellent.

      8. Nice people.

      9. The fire bundles are small for $10 so maybe (gulp) bring some with you.

Bad: nothing I can think of.  We didn't use the facilities.

    What to do

Water recreation on Clear Lake: The Aurora RV Park & Marina provides direct lake access with complimentary watercraft. "They offer FREE canoe/paddle boating. Hiking nearby trails: The region offers walking paths with wildlife viewing opportunities. "The walk along the road way is very beautiful. Although it is along town building, the water side is a low water estuary or sorts - lots of tall grasses and duckweed type plants. Many birds. I even saw an egret," describes a visitor to Aurora RV Park.

    What campers like

Waterfront camping: Russian River RV Campground provides river access that campers appreciate. "Location to the river/ creek is great," states one reviewer, while another mentions it's "a little piece of paradise" despite its rustic nature.

Clean facilities: Campgrounds maintain their restrooms and common areas regularly. "Bathrooms are kept clean every morning and garbage gets emptied," reports a visitor to Porto Bodega Marina & RV Park, which offers waterfront sites about an hour's drive from Kelseyville.

Camping convenience: Sites at Kelseyville area RV parks typically include basic amenities. "Each site has its own water sipget and two electrical outlets that work well. There was plenty of space at the site to setup two 4-person tents," notes a tent camper about one nearby park.

    What you should know

Space limitations: Campgrounds near Kelseyville vary in site spacing. At Bodega Bay RV Park, "Sites are all gravel with a picnic table and divided by a fence. It's a packed place with no real views."

"We arrived in our 34 foot motor home only for someone to tell us they only accepted RVs 10 years and newer which is obviously not the case," reported one traveler about a park in the region, highlighting the importance of verifying acceptance policies.

Limited amenities at some locations: Campground facilities vary significantly. "The bathrooms were clean, but only one shower and toilet worked. There was no mirror in the bathroom during my stay," noted a visitor about one area park, emphasizing the importance of checking current amenity status.

    Tips for camping with families

Recreational opportunities: Mirabel RV Park & Campground provides river access and kid-friendly amenities. Budget-friendly options: Some campgrounds offer affordable rates for families. "This place is beautiful! And afordable! The employees are super friendly!" notes a Mirabel RV Park visitor, making it a good option for family trips on a budget.

Activity planning: Some rv campgrounds in Kelseyville and surrounding areas provide on-site recreation. "Was glad to get a spot last minute on Memorial Day weekend. No glass around campsites. Lots of campers but they did make attemps to keep people quiet after 10. Great canoe rentals to take down the river and a shuttle back is right next door," shares a Mirabel visitor.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection strategies: Konocti Vista RV Park near Kelseyville offers convenient amenities. "It's a small RV park, but not crowed. It's quiet around here. The casino is within walking distance. There's a restaurant and a snack shop in the casino," notes one RVer.

Leveling challenges: Many Kelseyville area RV parks have uneven sites. "I am reasonably ok at backing in my travel trailer but this place is a mess. I parked in wrong spot, moved to the right one, the power pedestal did not work," reported one RVer about Russian River RV Campground, highlighting the importance of arriving early to secure better sites.

Connectivity options: Cell service reliability varies by location. "I work remote and have had meetings all week. No issues with Verizon or T mobile Hot spots," reports an RVer at Bodega Bay RV Park, making it a viable option for remote workers needing reliable connections while visiting Kelseyville area campgrounds.
