Carter Cove and Quarry Cove campgrounds near Nimrod Lake accommodate pets with water/electric hookups and spacious sites for tent and RV camping. Quarry Cove offers direct lake views from some sites, while Carter Cove features a swimming area near the boat launch. Most campsites at these Corps of Engineers parks provide picnic tables with fire rings, and both campgrounds maintain clean restroom facilities. Sites at Carter Cove are generally shaded, with some spots located above the boat launch area. Campsite sizes vary considerably, with some reviewers noting certain sites at Carter Cove may be tight for larger RVs.

Hiking opportunities exist throughout the Nimrod Lake recreation area, with pet owners finding several dispersed camping options in the surrounding Ouachita National Forest. Trails along Hogan Creek provide access to secluded camping spots where dogs can enjoy the sounds of flowing water. Forest Road 83W offers winter season dispersed sites suitable for pets, though summer visitors should be aware that high grass and weeds can overtake some areas. The Fourche La Fave River provides additional water access points where dogs can cool off. During summer months, Lake Nimrod's water temperature rises significantly, so owners should monitor pets for safety when swimming. Sites at Sunlight Bay include shelters over picnic tables, though there is minimal privacy between campsites.

      Catherine's Landing

      Very Nice, Lots of Amenities

Catherine’s Landing is a great RV park with lots of amenities and things happening. This park is an RVC Outdoor Destination property which is known for their “resort” amenities. The park is set on 400 acres with one mile bordering Lake Catherine and about eight or nine miles from downtown Hot Springs.

All roads, sites and patios are paved and this is definitely a big rig-friendly park. Every site has water, 50/30 amp, sewer, cable, and wifi. Fire pits and picnic tables accompany all sites. There are a variety of sites ranging from waterfront back-in, pull-thrus, or interior back-in. Waterfront sites have a nice view of the lake from the back of the site and access for fishing. The park also has yurts and cottages (some of which are pet-friendly). Adjacent to the yurts is a nice, large covered picnic area with grills, a dish washing station.

Lots and lots of amenities here. Hiking trails, swimming pool, fitness center, lounge, playground, dog park, zip-line, boat rental, boat launch, store, and disc golf. Some amenities (boat rentals and zip-line) are an extra charge.

Hot Springs is a nice little town nestled in the Ouachita Mountains with interesting history and natural beauty. We found plenty to do from hiking the National Park to learning about the bathhouse history to discovering the gangster influence. We spent four nights and could have stayed longer with all that the town offers. Most people come here to bathe in the soothing warm mineral waters but there is also a horse racetrack, science museum, off road track, water/theme park, alligator farm, and a few museums. Hot Springs National Park has miles and miles of great hiking trails and a great place to spend an afternoon. The town of Hot Springs is very dog-friendly and we found many places that would allow them in and on the patio for lunch.

      Pros:

      • Very nice, clean, well-manicured
      • Lots of amenities
      •  Paved level sites with paved patios
      • The dog park was a decent size for running and mingling with other dogs
      • The hiking trail(about 3 miles) was a big plus and got used a lot.

      Cons:

      • Price. We booked late and didn’t have too many sites to choose from we had to pay for a waterfront site

      Catherine's Landing

Great campground on Lake Catherine and close to Hot Springs

Top notch RV campground that is well maintained and has a friendly professional staff. Lots of amenities like disc golf, hiking trails, pool, zip line course, lake access and two dog parks that were the cleanest I’ve seen at an rv park. We had site 204 which is a back in site with FHU on driver’s side. We loved this site because it was on the back side of the campground, near the dog park and lots of open space behind us to play with our dog. All of the sites are very spacious, concrete pads, well maintained hook ups, and most are full sun. This was our second visit and we will definitely be back.

Everything is awesome. Sites are in pristine condition. Managers are so friendly and helpful. Located in Hot Spring proper. Easy access to everything. The Dog Park, laundry facilities, and restrooms/showers are of course new and clean. Casino and Racetrack are right around the corner. Easy access to everything in HotSprings.

      Hot Springs National Park KOA

      Enjoyable maiden voyage

I have little to go off of, but this is a very clean, safe feeling place. Close to the national park, friendly employees and guests, several mini trails and a dog park.

      J and J RV Park

      Very Nice, Quiet Place

This park was very peaceful and quiet. You can hear the bullfrogs at night. JJ - the owner was the ice on the cake. Just such a nice fellow. There are several full timers there. It is right on a little creek, and there are turkeys somewhere nearby. The RV Park is very very close to Hot Springs National Park, and there is an amusement park right across the highway. The Wi-Fi is nonexistent. There is no dog park, but plenty of space to walk your fur children. We enjoyed the full hook ups. Nice big pull thru sites. There is a laundry room and bathrooms on the premises. I had an enjoyable experience, and would gladly stay there again if I am ever nearby.

      Treasure Isle R.V. Park

      Nice park

Nice, quiet park. Laundry facilities nice and clean. Clean showers. Nice dog park. Management friendly. On lake, so some boat noise. The cons were poor local TV satellite

service and no WiFi for monthly stays. Would stay here again.

      Royal Berry Farm

      Quiet, clean, solitary

This was a great spot. The host responded quickly via email and we never saw another soul. The property is massive and you can let your pets off the leash. This was the first time we let our cats roam untethered and they loved it. Water and electricity provided, clear sky for starlink, and a fire pit. There were tons of flies though. No mosquitos that we could tell so thats a plus. Great quiet spot

      Catherine's Landing

      Relax in the clean air

My husband and I camped 3 nights with the dogs an a travel trailer. The check in process was very easy and the facilities were immaculate. Concrete pads and sites were well kept. The yurts on property looked very big and clean so maybe we will do that next. The boat ramp and docks were safe for fishing. The dog park was small but sufficient for them to run a bit off the leash. Firewood was a bit pricey$$. Overall tho, super place.

    What to do

I recommend going to the Petit Jean Grave. The view is vast!" shares Sondra M. about Mount Magazine State Park Campground.

Fishing opportunities: Bank fishing is available at multiple access points around Lake Nimrod and nearby waterways. "This campground was a great find! We had never been there before and booked based on the map. We had tons of room and a direct view of the lake. Sunsets at this lake are beautiful!" notes Jennifer W. about her stay at Quarry Cove.

Boat and kayak launches: Multiple ramps provide access to Lake Nimrod and the Fourche La Fave River system. "Small but beautiful campground. There's a small, sandy swim beach and plenty of places to put in a boat or kayak," according to Jennifer W. who visited Quarry Cove.

    What campers like

Private campsites: Carter Cove offers larger, more spaced out sites. "Nice campground. Clean and mostly quiet. Trails to walk to find nice fishing spots. Large camping spots," says Sandy H. about her experience at Carter Cove.

Wildlife viewing: The Ouachita National Forest provides excellent opportunities for nature observation. "This section of the National Forest offers two hours gravel road through the forest. On the path offers hidden creek waterfalls, lots of one way bridge and a serenity drive," notes Jeff P. about Ouachita National Forest Fourche Mountain.

Winter camping solitude: Off-season visitors find peaceful conditions at Lake Nimrod. "Because of its location convenient to Little Rock, and low traffic, Nimrod Lake makes a good camping destination. When the fall leaves change and begin to drop it is an especially pretty setting," writes 2SHOE S. about camping at Quarry Cove.

    What you should know

Water conditions: Lake Nimrod temperatures vary significantly by season. "The lake is so close and beautiful! The sunset view is to die for!" explains Mandi R. about Lake Dardanelle State Park.

Cell service limitations: Many campgrounds have limited connectivity. "There is no cell service in the campground but if you go up to the dam, we had anywhere from 3 to 5 bars of service. The campground is older but we loved it," reports Aaron D G. about River Road campground.

Campsite variations: Size and quality of sites vary considerably. "Sites at Carter Cove are generally shaded, but some spots are angled differently and there is no clear indication how you have to enter the loop to be able to access your site. It can create some frustration when trying to get set up," explains a visitor.

    Tips for camping with families

Free camping alternatives: Fourche Mountain Campground offers no-cost options for pet-friendly camping near Plainview. "Small 5-site primitive campground. No water. No electric. Clean vault toilets with tp, and a trash barrel. Clean campground & campsites. Sites are small with reasonable separation, but no privacy," reports Fred S. about Fourche Mountain Campground.

Swimming areas: Designated beaches provide safe access for children and pets. "Carter Cove features a boat launch and swimming area. The campsite was overlooking the lake, there was a rocky area that was easy to walk down to fish at," notes Kelli M.

Educational opportunities: Visitor centers offer nature programs. "The State Park systems in the US are some of our favorite places to find beautiful camping spots, but Lake Dardanelle State Park in Arkansas tops most of them all. The spots are spacious and aesthetically nice," says Rose Alice W.

    Tips from RVers

Hookup access: Water hookups at several campgrounds have unusual configurations. "The water hookups in 'D' area are in strange locations at each site," mentions Mandi R. about Lake Dardanelle State Park.

Site leveling challenges: Many sites require significant adjustment. "Many sites are unlevel and require significant leveling chocks to get it truly level," notes a visitor to River Road.

Overflow options: When established campgrounds are full, dispersed camping is available. "We stayed in overflow site was great beautiful views," states Steve S. about his experience at Mount Magazine State Park.
