    Catherine's Landing

    Very Nice, Lots of Amenities

Catherine’s Landing is a great RV park with lots of amenities and things happening. This park is an RVC Outdoor Destination property which is known for their “resort” amenities. The park is set on 400 acres with one mile bordering Lake Catherine and about eight or nine miles from downtown Hot Springs.

All roads, sites and patios are paved and this is definitely a big rig-friendly park. Every site has water, 50/30 amp, sewer, cable, and wifi. Fire pits and picnic tables accompany all sites. There are a variety of sites ranging from waterfront back-in, pull-thrus, or interior back-in. Waterfront sites have a nice view of the lake from the back of the site and access for fishing. The park also has yurts and cottages (some of which are pet-friendly). Adjacent to the yurts is a nice, large covered picnic area with grills, a dish washing station.

Lots and lots of amenities here. Hiking trails, swimming pool, fitness center, lounge, playground, dog park, zip-line, boat rental, boat launch, store, and disc golf. Some amenities (boat rentals and zip-line) are an extra charge.

Hot Springs is a nice little town nestled in the Ouachita Mountains with interesting history and natural beauty. We found plenty to do from hiking the National Park to learning about the bathhouse history to discovering the gangster influence. We spent four nights and could have stayed longer with all that the town offers. Most people come here to bathe in the soothing warm mineral waters but there is also a horse racetrack, science museum, off road track, water/theme park, alligator farm, and a few museums. Hot Springs National Park has miles and miles of great hiking trails and a great place to spend an afternoon. The town of Hot Springs is very dog-friendly and we found many places that would allow them in and on the patio for lunch.

    Pros:

    • Very nice, clean, well-manicured
    • Lots of amenities
    •  Paved level sites with paved patios
    • The dog park was a decent size for running and mingling with other dogs
    • The hiking trail(about 3 miles) was a big plus and got used a lot.

    Cons:

    • Price. We booked late and didn’t have too many sites to choose from we had to pay for a waterfront site

Petit Jean State Park — Petit Jean State Park

    Fantastic State Park

Camped here on May 1, 2025. This is one of my favorite state parks in the USA. Lots to do here. Fantastic hiking trails - rated from easy to difficult. Since I live only 45 minutes from this park, I normally come here for the day for hiking. This time, I got around to trying out the park's campground. This popular campround is divided into 4 areas - A through D. There are a total of 125 campsites, including 26 pull-through sites. Thirty-five of the sites are Class AAA sites which have 50 amp electrical, water, and sewer hookups. There are 90 Class B sites offering 30 amp electrical and water hookups. All sites are reservable. Tent and hammock camping is possible depending on the sites. I camped at site 103 in Area D. The staff at the office helped me pick this site for my campervan. The site had water and 30amp service. The restroom/shower house was clean and well maintained. The campsite itself was dated but clean. The site was large and had trees around it offering a little bit of privacy. The pull-thru drieway was close to the campground road. The site included a picnic table, tent pad, lantern pole, metal fire ring, and grill. Solar charging and Starlink connectivity may not be possible at this site; Area C has an open sky above it. There was some road noise from vehicles driving on Petit Jean Mountain Road which is behind the site. Received good AT&T 5G cell service, but little to no T-Mobile 2G service.  Areas C and D are in the woods. Most of the sites in these areas are on the small size but should easily accomodate a truck camper and smaller. Not all sites are level. Areas A and B can accomodate large rigs and towables.

    Leisure Landing RV Park

    Don't Bother

Gravel parking lot with painted stripes, a patch of grass growing under the picnic table, and full hookups. Be sure to back in centered, others are complaining about hitting their slide outs. Watch your step. One of the long-term residents isn't picking up their dog waste. The nicest spot in the whole place is the little fenced-in dog spot overlooking the canal that makes its way out to the lake you can't see from here.

    Downtown Riverside RV Park

    Unique RV Experience

At first entrance it appears as if you are entering a large parking lot. There is a large pavilion to picnic and pet area by the water. Each site requires a 50 amp but the office will offer one for purchase if you need a 50 to 30 amp connections. The center lot is for pull through sites the other site areas non-pull through by water and fence. The fence area is close to the bridge but could be limited with views since it is far away from the water and Class A frequent area.

    Two things I love:

    1. The unique downtown riverside views
    2. The ease of getting to this RV park even though it is downtown Little Rock.

Gulpha Gorge Campground — Hot Springs National Park

    Beautiful, clean, great location

Beautiful, clean, great location. Camped here in Feb 2020, right on the river. Full hookups, mostly back-in but some pull throughs. Paved, level. Tent sites, too. Clean bathrooms, little camp store. Close to town. Would camp again.

    Hot Springs National Park KOA

    Clean with a dog park

D26 Back-in full hook-ups, fire ring & picnic table. 2 nights - Memorial Day weekend. Good spot, close to bath rooms/shower house/cafe. Pretty level - just 1 leveling block was all we needed for our pop-up. Lots of amenities- cafe, fishing pond, small general store, playground and off leash dog area. Staff was very friendly. Escorted you to your spot and helped us back in. Shower house was always clean. Loved the dog park! We are just starting to travel with our 2 boxers and was so nice to have an area for them to run a bit. Cons - spots are very close, no privacy. Each spot has a very bright “porch” light that is on until Midnight

    Downtown Riverside RV Park

Parking lot but close to downtown.

Talk about great location in a great town. We usually do not like camping in cities this big but wanted to come here to visit the William J. Clinton Presidential Library. And what a great location this park is to downtown Little Rock and the library. There is a pedestrian bridge that takes you over the Arkansas River to downtown and all the attractions; as well as, some great restaurants and a vibrant downtown.

This campground is essentially a parking lot.  There is no shade and our air conditioners ran non-stop since we were there in July.  There is a grassy area in front along the river that is a common area for you to enjoy the night sky. The riverfront is beautiful at night with the downtown lit up at night. Sites include 50 amp electric, water and sewer. There is also a dump station and WiFi. Some of the riverfront sites have been upgrades to concrete pads and some sites are pull-thru sites. The restrooms were clean and washers and dryers are on-site. The park takes any kind of RV from pop-up to Class A but does not accept tents. The price we paid was definitely reasonable at$22/night(with tax) but they also offer numerous discounts.

Downtown Little Rock is a great town with plenty to do, see, and eat. The great things about this park are that it is convenient to the interstate and a great price. For the location, you would expect to pay a lot more. We loved walking to town at night and enjoying the restaurants and breweries that bring the downtown to life. The weekly farmers market was a highlight and the Presidential Library is not to be missed.

    Hot Springs National Park KOA

    Pleasant

Stayed 2 nights in a basic one room cabin. Had a double bed and bunk bed. Heat /air and cable tv. They advertise WiFi but we didn’t get good reception even though our cabin was very near the office/pool/bathroom. Clean and well kept. Porch swing, fire ring and water at the site. Friendly staff. Clean facilities. Pool is small. Dog play area and kids playground. Good location for exploring hot springs area.

Guide to Adona

Willow Beach offers primitive camping sites near Adona, Arkansas, situated along the Arkansas River with access to fishing docks and boat ramps. Located about 35 miles southeast of Adona, this Army Corps of Engineers facility maintains year-round camping with 12 spacious sites spread out to avoid crowding. The region experiences hot summers with temperatures often exceeding 90°F and mild winters with occasional freezing temperatures.

What to do

Fishing at multiple locations: The Willow Beach campground provides river access with several fishing spots. "Campground located on the river with beautiful scenic views. Covered picnic table and tall fire ring. Spacious camps. Flat pad," notes Shiloh M., though they caution about limitations: "No clean space to get down a fish from the bank."

Crystal digging excursions: Drive approximately 45 minutes south from Adona to Crystal Ridge RV Park for a unique adventure. "For $20 you can go spend the day diggin through dirt and finding crystals. I don't think everyone has the luck we had but we came after a rain and cleaned up. Hundred bucks in gems," shares Justin M. Some visitors even find crystals within the campground: "We took the spot up top the hill [upper left corner] and found crystals in our campsite around the fire pit."

Downtown exploration: The close proximity to Little Rock makes camping a convenient base for urban exploration. "Right on the river, this city owned rv park is close to everything. And you can walk across the bridge to the Clinton Library," explains Troy about Downtown Riverside RV Park.

What campers like

Spacious waterfront sites: Many RV sites near Adona, Arkansas feature water access. "Peaceful and quite. Not only is it right on the lake with multiple fishing docks plus a boat ramp, but there is a private fishing pond in the middle of the park as well," explains Bradley B. about Adventure RV.

Level camping spots: Campers frequently mention the quality of site preparation. "This is a pretty campground with huge trees for shade. The sites are extremely level! I didn't even need to level my pop-up camper!!" shares Jo E. about Willow Beach. Similarly, at Gold Creek Landing RV Park, sites include "electric, water, and sewer. Not far at all from interstate. Located on Lake Conway."

Nature sounds: Willow Beach creates a natural soundtrack for campers. "The water hyacinths were in full bloom while we were here and are beautiful!!" writes Jo E. Another camper, Jeff R., notes it's "small, remote, and quiet. Situated between the Arkansas River and Willow Lake, every site is waterfront." However, he warns: "Mosquitos are very bad."

What you should know

Varying bathroom conditions: Facility maintenance varies significantly between campgrounds. "Beautiful campsite along the Arkansas River... The only downside is the bathroom/shower rooms. There are four individual ones and they all feel like the heat is on in them when it is 100° here today. The toilet paper is out or almost out in all of them and there is no soap in any of the dispensers," reports Kelly E.

Road noise concerns: Some campgrounds experience highway noise that may affect light sleepers. Morrilton RV Park received this feedback from Steve S.: "We drove through looking for a place to stay. It was a very nice park with full hook-ups, cabins, very clean and well kept... Looked really great except it is right next to I40. LOTS of noise so we decided to move on."

Wildlife encounters: J and J RV Park offers natural settings with associated wildlife. "This park was very peaceful and quiet. You can hear the bullfrogs at night... It is right on a little creek, and there are turkeys somewhere nearby," writes Lynn G. At Willow Beach, Jennifer C. cautions: "We encountered lots of snakes. I shooed a few off the road and they disappeared as soon as they slithered into the grass, so to me it's pretty risky walking around or letting kids play."

Tips for camping with families

Recreation areas: Several camping facilities offer dedicated play spaces. "Willow Beach is small, remote, and quiet. Situated between the Arkansas River and Willow Lake, every site is waterfront. Showers and bathrooms were clean and in good condition. Sites were close but in good repair. Playgrounds were present but closed thanks to Covid," notes Jeff R.

Security considerations: Downtown Riverside RV Park provides added security features. "Gated RV park. Easy access to downtown Little Rock AR," mentions Beth R., making it suitable for families wanting security while camping near urban amenities.

Water activities: Goose Pond Road Camp offers natural swimming opportunities. "Secluded, not hard to find. Gorgeous. Had a great time fishing, enjoying our peace and nature's finest. Rolling hills and beautiful pond and views," shares Michele D., highlighting activities that appeal to families.

Tips from RVers

Hookup specifics: Travelers with RVs looking for sites near Adona, Arkansas should note specific electrical details. At Ivy's Cove RV Retreat, Katherine N. reports: "We lived at this RV park for 5 months while we were house hunting. Great owners. Clean, large showers. Game/exercise room. 5 minutes to anything you need, but still feels secluded."

Water pressure management: J and J RV Park has strong water pressure that requires equipment. "Great value for the price, $48 cash/$53 card. No online reservations. Owner is really nice and helpful. Clean facilities. Quiet. Sites along the stream have a great view and a great place to sit and enjoy nature," writes Josh F., adding an important caution: "Recommend using a water pressure regulator, one of my pipes started leaking from the pressure."

Satellite internet access: Consider site location if you need reliable connectivity. "If you're after satellite internet, be sure to get a spot on the west side of the camp," advises Cultivating Fire L. about J and J RV Park, information particularly valuable for remote workers staying in RVs.
