This is a nice off the interstate travel park. Full hook ups. Pull through sights plenty long enough for our 40+ ft. motorhome with tow vehicle. Pull in at night out in the morning. Simple and not fancy. But fits the bill when needing a place with electricity and dump and fill water!

    David Crockett State Park Campground

    Vintage Galore

David Crockett State Park is located near Lawrenceburg, Tn off I64 or I43 depending on your direction of travel.

We visited in March for the Vintage Camper weekend and had an excellent time. The campground is sort of a double loop design , down hill, so makes for a good walk. Full hook up, cement pad, level sites and everyone would have shade if the leaves had come in, though that early in the season it wasn’t really needed. The sites are adequate but not overly roomy. You can fit yourself in, and an extra car. A small tent or hammock would fit too. The showerhouse was newer and well maintained, as well as the campground. The host was very helpful and knowledgeable.

The trail we took was a little rough , definitely technical but plenty of cool things to keep my granddaughter interested in the next turn. The lake will accommodate water sports of all sorts, we did not stop by though because the granddaughter would have ended up in the water ;)

    Pack'em in!

This place is tight.   Not in the Urban Dictionary meaning of tight, but in the actual meaning of tight.  It's hard to tell if there are more trees or RVs on the property.  It appears that many of the RVs there are long-term, permanent residents; wood porches, lots of yard items, etc.  The roads to the site was hard to navigate due to the amount of vehicles parked along the roads.  However, the sites were great angles and easy to maneuver into and out of.  One nice perk about the park was the trash pick-up three times per day.   Nice not to have to trek to the dumpster throughout the day.

Typical for an RV resort, but is new and very nice

As most in Red Bay, we were here to have work done on our Tiffin RV.  This is typical for an RV resort with open and reasonably close spaces, but is new and very nice and well maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They provide Allegro Club members a 5% discount. We were in site 47. AT&T had 2 bars and 4.3 MB/s w/o a booster, 3 bars and 10.5 MB/s with it. Overall WiFi was“ok” with data rates from 0.2 MB/s up to 0.8 MB/s, as the resort was full. Satellite coverage was good and we had visibility to all 3 DISH west satellites, so we didn’t try OTA channels.

    Great weekend get away.

Some tight spots, but the water park is only a bicycle ride away. There is a six mile walking/ biking trail along the Tennesse river. The golf course is at the campground entrance. There are special events for Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. Long term camping has been voted out and I believe the new time limit is 2 weeks.

    Joe Wheeler is open

Basically there are two sections to this park. The newer section is very big rig orientated. Having been rebuilt due to hurricane, wide roomy sites well spaced, but not a tree in site. All sites both old & new are full hook up. The older section is very, very tight and not a one very level. The older section is fully treed, which makes things even tighter.

Good ATT & Verizon cell service. No wifi in campgrounds Not my first choice, bu it worked.

    RV/Camper Pros and Cons

PROs: small campground, easy to walk, campsites are not on top of each other, lots of shade, nice hiking trails, multi vehicle parking at each site, nice concrete picnic pads at each site (although not all are level), fabulous wildlife experience

CONs: very VERY few level campsites (some are pretty sketchy inclines), very narrow lots for RVs, not full-hookup, no site trash cans, 10 whole minutes of hot water in the showers in June on a Thursday, no lake access within walking distance of campground.

ADDITIONAL: Has 4 nice primitive campsites but none are near the lake.

WITHIN DRIVING DISTANCE: Lots of lake but few fish biting regardless the time of day, multiple nice beaches

    Up and coming RV park!

This RV park was still heavily under construction while we were there. In fact, I believe we were the first people to stay in our spot, a premium pull through. The playground was in the process of being completed and the game room wasn't functional yet but you can tell the owners are investing a lot of time and money!

The concrete pad was within 1/4" of level and even had two sewer connections. Included in the premium site was a nice picnic table and a smaller two person table, fire pit, and nice large marble lighting.

    Nice camp with hook ups

Spent one night here. Well filled campground on a Saturday night. Enough space to navigate an RV. Spots are fairly close to one another, but not so close as to be bothersome. Electric and water hook up included. Lady restrooms couldn’t be locked.

Great proximity to the water and tons of fireflies at night. Enjoyed our time here very much!

    Living grounds

This place could be absolutely beautiful. Grounds are maintained. Plenty of camping spots, fire pits and tables. There are two sets of bathrooms with electricity and fans. Cold showers in one however there was no light or lock in the shower so my boyfriend had to be in there with me. Tennessee River was beautiful and had clear water. This place is also on a Frisbee golf course. Has separate area for rvs and tents. Rv side has all necessary hook up and everything is free even the dumping station HOWEVER THERE ARE TOO MANY BUMS LIVING HERE !

    Tishomingo State Park Campground

The Diamond of Mississippi State Parks

We've camped  to Tishomingo State at least 3 times in the last 6 months. It's the first site we visited after purchasing our Wildwood Travel Trailer. Sites are level and most are easy to back the trailer into. No full hookups but all the sites have electricity and water. Plenty of trees and amazing views from all the site. Cellphone coverage is not good here for Verizon or AT&T. Better at front of camp.

I can't state enough how much there is to do in Tishomingo! Plenty of trails that would satisfy an Ultramarathoner. A lake for fishing (honestly never seen anyone catch a fish 🐟) and canoeing. Tishomingo has disc golf, large pavilions, and historic sites to visit.

Overall it's always clean when we've been there but there is quite a bit of age on the campsite. Roads are pretty rough in areas as well.

    Perfectly Designed for RV Newbies!

Loved this park! It was our first trip in our new Travel Trailer and it couldn't have gone better. We stayed at Yellow Hammer site #9 easy pull through with plenty of room. Not only did all the sites have amazing scenery but the roads were well maintained. Full hookups and AT & T cellphone coverage good enough for working from Trailer. Verizon cellphone coverage didn't work here. Each site fully equipped with fire ring, picnic table, and lantern poles. Wood available for purchase from host.

Beach & Bath houses were closed due to COVID-19

We spent a lot of time walking with our kids on the trails and riding scooters around the campsite roads. Nature trails were extremely well kept with great views on the water

Best site is Yellow Hammer #17

    Nice National Forest Campground

I arrived without a reservation trying to get one of the first come first serve spots. There is a gate without intercom, so you can’t just drive up. I called the phone number listed and the woman on the phone gave me the gate code and told me which sites were available. Worked out pretty well. Stayed in 22. One bathhouse is open. Another one I tried was locked due to Covid. Clean. Yellohammer sites have full hookup. Then there are tent sites. I was contemplating getting a tent site with my van, but they were pretty unlevel and small. There is a public boat ramp and one specifically for the campground. Water level was still very high in the lake after recent rains and storms.

    Our favorite campsite

We love this campsite, nestled away in the backwoods relatively easy to get to. We go here all the time, the rangers are always nice and constantly watching/riding around making sure there is no one causing trouble. New campsites with full hookups are coming soon but even the older ones are nice, just no sewer. And most of the older sites are on the water

    Beautiful quiet sites

We have camped here twice and love it.  The sites are large and wooded.  There are walking trails and lake overlooks.  Boat launch and swimming beach are available on Smith Lake.  Most sites have full hookups and 30/50 Amp service.  Only problem was Verizon phone service was not good.  During the Covid-19 time, only one restroom with shower is open only for tent campers.

    McFarland Park Campground

    Camping in the City Limits

We pulled in with no plans and drove through the whole campground. There are 60 RV spots, pull thru and not, some parking lot style and some a along a creek. There are no trees or bushes between spots, but the whole campground is situated with forest and creek on one side and the Tuscumbia River on the other. We weren't positive what the deal was so we checked in with the host and paid $14 for one night.

Primitive tent spots are right on the river. There are fire pits, trees, and picnic tables sporadically placed. We pitched our tent facing the bluffs along the river and our hammock between two trees. It wasn't crowded and it was pretty quiet (no generators, no music, very family friendly and chill). The grass was cut, and though there were small ant piles everywhere, they really weren't in the way or aggressive. The bath-house is...not awesome. It's exactly what you'd expect for an older, gov-run park, with some spiders and leaky toilets, but toilets and showers are there.

It is a three minute drive into downtown Florence. Most of that is through the park, which is home to a good-sized marina, disc golf course, and (defunct?) driving range. It's super convenient, cheap, and kept up well enough. The view of the water and bluffs is A++, and it's fun to watch the speed boats and river cruises.

    Narrow sites with killer views

The sites are rather narrow with varying sizes and locations for outdoor living space. Pay close attention to the states website regarding vehicle size maximums. As I walk through the park, it appears that all spots are full hookup and paved. We are on site 43 and anything longer than 30 ft will be pushing it. As it is, our 25ft trailer fits nicely, but the truck is parallel parked across the end of my site in order to be off the road. The picnic table is behind the camper instead of on camp side, which isn’t my favorite setup but we are making due. Some sites have metal fire rings, while others (like ours) have rock circle pits. Some campsites on the hill side have no picnic table OR fire pits. They also have almost no room to walk around the RV without tumbling down the hill. Sites 62 and 64 aren’t terrible, but everything else from 59 and up is pretty bad. 25-34 and 51-54 are short and back up to a a hill. Would be great for Class B or smaller travel trailers. Sites 10-24 are in a separate area from the rest. 35-50 are down on a low flat area near the water and are the best if you like a view of the lake.

Bath house in our loop is clean, not completely out of date, and heated for cold weather camping. There is a small area with 2 set of pay washers/dryers and a few vending machines.

All in all, well worth the State’s $32/night charge.
