Best RV Parks & Resorts near Baileyton, AL

Several RV parks near Baileyton provide full-hookup sites for various rig sizes. Thousand Trails Hidden Cove in Arley offers year-round camping with water, electric, and sewer connections approximately 30 miles southwest of Baileyton. The campground features three distinct sections with varying amenities. "Sites are gravel, full hook up, and there are 5 tent camping sites. Minor leveling needed for my spot," noted one camper about Hidden Cove. Georgia Mountain RV Resort in Guntersville accommodates large rigs with 50-amp service, while Quail Creek RV Resort in Hartselle provides pull-through sites with full hookups on gravel pads that can fit 40-foot fifth wheels with tow vehicles.

Navigation to some parks requires careful attention to road conditions. A visitor to Quail Creek mentioned, "When we departed, heading back towards the interstate, you come to a stop sign. Our RV GPS and Waze wanted us to turn right on Mt. Zion Rd instead of going left as we did when we arrived. We took the right turn, and about the time the trailer swung, we saw the drop-off into the ditch." Cell service varies significantly between locations, with Verizon coverage ranging from nonexistent at Hidden Cove to 3-4 bars at other parks. Most RV parks in the region offer laundry facilities, dump stations, and pet-friendly policies. During peak seasons, particularly fall, reservations are recommended as parks fill quickly. Proximity to shopping varies, with Hartselle providing access to Walmart and Kroger approximately 15 minutes from Quail Creek RV Resort.

    Quail Creek RV Resort

    Quiet and Peaceful

The campground is tucked back off the freeway and is very quiet and peaceful. It provides you a level space with picnic tables, concrete pads and fire rings. You can buy firewood and they have a bath house and laundry. It has excellent WIFI. The campground is on a golf course and has an Inn right on the course. There is a great playground and dog area. There are some long term campers here but it is clean and everyone was very friendly. Be careful driving here the road is very narrow and no shoulders. We met a school bus on the road and ended up having to go into the pit next to the road to avoid the bus that was in our lane😳.
I would definitely recommend this campground for families or people who are full time RVers!

    Boaz RV Park

Cheap rates, and a great location.

This is a small rv park located in Boaz Al, its just down the street from the Boaz police station so its nice and quiet. They don't have a lot of amenities like pools, or playgrounds but its great if you just need a cheap place to stay. As of this review its $20 a night for either a 30 or a 50 amp hookup along with water and sewer. The monthly rates are $400 for 30 amp sites and $500 for 50 amp sites.

    Lake Guntersville State Park Campground

    Lovely area to stay!

We arrived one day early which was semi planned, but we were not in the spot we were staying for 11 days. Thank goodness because the pic on the site Vs reality was a pretty big difference. We have a big rig and no way we would fit. I figured I would have to finagle something in my own to get us a different site. NOPE! They guy at the gate helped us out and 5 min later we had a site! Store has a few things in it, including some Lake stickers/shirts/etc with Lake Guntersville on them. There is a little library box by the store with books people have put in after reading. There are sites for full hookup, water/electric, or primitive. There are long term sites as well. There is plenty to do! Beach, boat, water pad, basketball and tennis courts. Laundry available. Nice bathrooms and bathhouse. Dog park for bigs and Littles! The power went out once for a couple minutes and then again due to an accident on the mountain. There are neat things within the park to see and do. Hike/trails, golf, fish, zip line, horseback riding. A must stop is to see the donkeys, goats and emus. Towing to get here is interesting, but doable! We have a 42 ft RV with a 16 ft boat behind and we made it. Close enough to town but you have to go over the mountain. There are some neat stores down town and a farmers market.

    Buck's Pocket State Park Campground

    A great park reopened!

We stayed at Bucks Pocket State Park recently for five nights and had a wonderful time. This park was recently reopened after being closed for a few years, lots of work has been completed to the campground and facilities. The sites are very nice with full concrete pads, 50/30 amp electrical, water, picnic table, fire ring and grill. There are a few sites that are on the bank of Sauty Creek that also have sewer hook ups. This is a very small campground with only 23 RV sites, 4 of them are pull through. There are also about 8 tent only sites. There are clean and well stocked bathrooms located at the park office and also includes a laundry facility. The office also sells firewood and ice if needed.

There are a few hiking trails that range in levels of difficulty, we hiked the trail to the overlook that I would classify as pretty arduous, the pay off was the Little Sauty Creek waterfall near the top and the beautiful vista of Point Lookout. The trail ascends 800 feet in elevation from the pocket floor to the summit so plan accordingly. There is also an off road vehicle (ORV) trail here so the park attracts these vehicles to the campground on the weekends.

The park host (Jesse and his wife) are very friendly and involved, he is visible throughout the day ensuring the park is maintained and orderly.

There will be little to no cell service or over the air TV reception due to the park being in the valley floor. The park does provide good WIFI that could be received throughout the campground.

A huge thank you to the State of Alabama for providing the resources to restore this great facility to the state park system. Also, an extra recognition to the A Year to Volunteer (https://www.youtube.com/c/AYeartoVolunteer) organization for the extraordinary effort and contribution to this park's rebirth.

    Monte Sano State Park Campground

Top of the Mountain with Great Views

We heard from other campers that if you go to Huntsville, Alabama that you have to stop at Monte Sano State Park. We took our Class C up the mountain and was able to reserve full hookups in a nicely wooded area. Sites were level gravel with picnic tables and grill. Great place to bring a trail bike or take hikes. Pet friendly.

Redstone Arsenal RV Park & Campground

    Nice Military FAMCAMP

The campground(CG) was easy to find for our mid-October stay. We exited off on 14A to gate 9 where we went through the gate and then did a u-turn to take us back down past the golf course to the CG. We had no problem doing the u-turn with our 40' fifth wheel. We followed the signage to the CG and then into pull-through site 21 with FHUs. There was no formal check-in, but our name and stay dates were on the site post. The pads here are huge and the utilities including 50 AMP worked well. We got 3 bars on Verizon and 2 bars on T-Mobile along with a large selection of OTA channels. We could have used satellite as there are no trees near the RV sites. They have a nice fenced dog park plus a shower and laundry facility with 4 machines each costing$1. The WiFi worked well for a CG this size. Use Gate 8 near the commissary and BX versus 9. Gate 8 gives you an easier drive to the campground. Overall we enjoyed our overnight stay.

    Corinth Recreation Area

    Perfectly Designed for RV Newbies!

Loved this park! It was our first trip in our new Travel Trailer and it couldn't have gone better. We stayed at Yellow Hammer site #9 easy pull through with plenty of room. Not only did all the sites have amazing scenery but the roads were well maintained. Full hookups and AT & T cellphone coverage good enough for working from Trailer. Verizon cellphone coverage didn't work here. Each site fully equipped with fire ring, picnic table, and lantern poles. Wood available for purchase from host.

Beach & Bath houses were closed due to COVID-19

We spent a lot of time walking with our kids on the trails and riding scooters around the campsite roads. Nature trails were extremely well kept with great views on the water

Best site is Yellow Hammer #17

    Northgate RV Travel Park

    Northgate Camp Ground

This is a nice off the interstate travel park. Full hook ups. Pull through sights plenty long enough for our 40+ ft. motorhome with tow vehicle. Pull in at night out in the morning. Simple and not fancy. But fits the bill when needing a place with electricity and dump and fill water!

    Cathedral Caverns State Park Campground

    Beautiful cave!

General: Small (36-site) campground in two loops; only the upper has a bathhouse. It is about a ¼ mile walk from the lower to the bathhouse.

Site Quality: Sites are gravel and vary; some are back-in, some are pull-through and some are parallel. Site 32 was very generous in size although not completely level. There was one picnic table, one set of water/electric utilities, and two fire rings (not sure why there were two). This site could easily fit a large Class A or two smaller campers.

Bath/Shower House: Clean and heated. The toilets and showers have a curtain for privacy which IMO feels less private. When I was in the shower, someone opened the curtain not realizing (!) that someone was in there. Warm water at the sinks and showers was appreciated on a damp and chilly day. There is also a clean laundry facility - $3/wash and $2 to dry. The laundry room also has a microwave oven.

Activities: There are daily cave tours; we have been in many caves and this one is very nice. By the lower loop is a small climbing wall. There are also hiking trails and gemstone mining, although we did not take advantage of either of these. We were there for the Cave Run - a 10km or half marathon where the last 1.2 miles AND finish are INSIDE the cave, which was very cool!

Mason, the camp host, was great. Upon our arrival, he escorted us to our site in his golf cart (entirely not necessary but welcomed) and went over what we needed to know including the WiFi password (otherwise we had no service on Verizon). Be sure to go to the office (up a very steep hill or you can drive) and ask for your 15% senior discount if applicable (you need to show proof you are old!).

Guide to Baileyton

The Baileyton area sits at approximately 800 feet above sea level in north-central Alabama, creating camping opportunities in rolling terrain and near multiple water features. RV sites near Baileyton, Alabama frequently experience hot, humid summers and mild winters, with spring and fall offering the most comfortable camping weather. The region's position between Cullman and Huntsville provides access to both lake recreation and forest exploration.

What to do

Explore Bankhead National Forest: Just west of Baileyton, the forest offers numerous waterfall hikes. "This is a great little campground tucked away on the edge of Bankhead National Forest. The location of the campground makes it an excellent location to enjoy the numerous waterfall hikes in the area," notes a visitor to Bama Campground & RV Park.

Boating on Smith Lake: The lake provides excellent fishing and boating opportunities. A camper at Thousand Trails Hidden Cove suggests, "This RV park is right on a lake, but a bit away from anything else. If you have any sort of boat, kayak, paddle board, bring it!" The same reviewer mentions, "There is hiking about an hour away at the Bankhead National Forest."

Stargazing: Limited light pollution in rural areas creates ideal conditions for nighttime astronomy. "Huge field with little light pollution to stargaze," comments a reviewer about Bama Campground & RV Park, highlighting the rural setting's advantages.

What campers like

Quiet, peaceful settings: Many campgrounds in the region offer a retreat from busier areas. At Greensport RV Park and Campground, campers appreciate the "calm serenity of the star filled skies, the soft reflections in the water, with the beautiful mountain views."

Lake access: Waterfront camping sites are highly valued. One camper at Greensport noted, "Small store at marina with a lot of stuff for camping and boating, pool on site, covered picnic tables at lake with lake access for fee on weekends...free during week for campers."

Spacious sites: Many campgrounds offer generous spacing. A reviewer at Palomino RV Resort mentioned, "All sites are full service concrete pads with good Wi-Fi and lots of channels on the tv," while another praised it as "clean and organized campground."

What you should know

Cell service varies drastically: Connectivity remains a significant concern. At Thousand Trails Hidden Cove, a camper reported, "I had no reception with Verizon but my AT&T hotspot had good reception," while another mentioned "Wifi weak cel signal weak."

Shopping access: Plan ahead for supplies. "Nearest Walmart is Cullman which is 45 mins away. Wouldn't recommend staying here if you prefer to be closer to the city," notes a camper at Hidden Cove. For Quail Creek RV Resort, visitors mention "Drove the 15 minutes into Hartselle and were pleasantly surprised by amenities such as the Walmart and especially a very nice, well-stocked Krogers."

Seasonal considerations: Weather impacts camping experience. "Very hot, humid and rainy time of year! Would be back in the fall perhaps," commented a summer visitor to Hidden Cove, suggesting fall visits might be more comfortable.

Tips for camping with families

Recreation options: Look for campgrounds with multiple activities. At Georgia Mountain RV Resort, "There is a small game room that has a pool table and other activities but was rarely used by the full timers in the park."

Kid-friendly amenities: Several parks cater specifically to children. "They have a nice fenced dog park plus a shower and laundry facility with 4 machines each costing $1," notes a visitor to Redstone Arsenal RV Park & Campground, though access requires military credentials.

Playground quality: Check recent reviews about playground condition. A visitor to Hidden Cove mentioned, "The wood on the playground needs to be replaced and the grass really needed cut. There were no horse shoes to play and no golf stuff," indicating maintenance may vary seasonally.

Tips from RVers

Route planning: Be cautious with GPS directions. At Quail Creek, a visitor experienced: "Go left at the stop sign on Mt. Zion Rd from Nat Key Rd when departing the CG! When we departed... Our RV GPS and Waze wanted us to turn right on Mt. Zion Rd instead of going left as we did when we arrived."

Site selection: Research specific areas within larger campgrounds. At Hidden Cove, "A and B sections are the original sections. C section is brand new with 50 amps hookup. All the big rigs there. I was on C74 with a great backyard overlooking the hills."

Gate access codes: Some parks restrict nighttime entry. A Greensport camper advised, "If you are out after 9pm the gate will be closed. Make sure you check your email or text messages as the gate is opened with a QR code that is sent to you. This is not explained very well in the welcoming documents."
