Belle Fourche Campground at Devils Tower — Devils Tower National Monument

I’m right under the Devils Peak under the stars!!!! A childhood dream come true!!!! Campground closes mid October

Every site is a pull through. Generous spacing between sites. This is a first come, first served campground. We arrived at 2 pm on Fri Sept 6, and it was full by 4 pm. Flush toilets on site and water, but no showers or laundry. Access to hiking trails from the campground. Garbage dumpsters available, but no dump station. Payment (cash or check) is made at entrance, envelopes available. Campground management came through often. There are two loops. Loop B is more friendly to big rigs than Loop A. Cell signal was weak. Campground gets dark at night, perfect for stargazing. There is a KOA near the park entrance as well as some retail. From campground, you have to drive to the visitor center.

Stayed for 3 nights on our port-retirement trip. Sites are large enough for our 37 foot 5th wheel, and still had room for the truck.
No electric but had ok Verizon and pretty fast Starlink.
Campground was about 1/3 full and quiet.
Hosts were nice Bathrooms very clean and water from pump outside.
No dump station here or nearby (unless you pay over $80 a night for stay at KOA. Recommend for anyone that is self sufficient with no hookups.
Road here is hilly so trucks may curse you.

Consists of 2 loops (A&B). Some areas for group sites. $20/night. Bathrooms located in both loops as well as water spigot. Camp hosts present. Beautiful site of Devils Tower. No wildlife during the night present while we were there but the trash is secured. Saw some bison on the road in and lots of prairie dogs close to the entrance. So cute!

Clean bathrooms and water, very popular spot. Run by the park rangers. Includes picnic table and fire ring. Some cell service.

This was a super easy place to camp. There isn’t any privacy but it’s serene and great views of devils tower. Be aware they close parts of the camping loops in august for Sturgis parking so plan ahead of going there at that time. We got lucky and arrived at night with no reservations and they had some spaces.

Limited cell service. But nice bathrooms that are easy to get to. No showers. Would def love to stay here again and relax more.

What an incredible place! Wyoming is beautiful and you cant beat the area around Devils tower. You can see the tower from all different angles.

This campground does not have electric but has portable water and bathrooms. It is first come first serve and can fit different size rigs. Some people in tents and some in really big RVS.

It is peaceful. Right near Prairie dog land, a stream and there is also a general store a mile away. You just can't beat this view at night!

We stayed one night and had an amazing time. The sites are placed very nice and are easy to pull in to. You also have plenty of space between each site. The bathrooms were clean and easy to get to.

Camp hosts are fantastic and so kind. Needed to camp in some shade and this was perfect. Such a pleasant place.

Rolled in late in day hoping for a vacancy - it wasn’t full and we were delighted with a site with a full view of the tower. Bathrooms were clean and the stars were magical. We forgot to bring in the garbage when we went in for the night and within 3 mins were visited by a resident raccoon enjoying our garbage can. Woops.

Fabulous site.

Devils tower is a nice place to visit passing through town but the park and campground don’t have a lot to offer outside the tower itself. Very hot and not much shade or much of a town to visit for a break from the sun.

Plenty of available sites. Shade under massive cottonwoods. All with a front row view of Devil’s tower. The hosts and rangers who stopped by for payment and to say hi were the nicest I have met. Cost only $20. Super clean bathrooms. One of the nicest sites we’ve stayed at on our cross country trek.

I enjoyed my visit and even extended it 2 days for a total of 5 nights. Park like setting with large cottonwoods, fire rings and picnic tables. I had a perfect view of Devils Tower from my site A9. The water spigot near this site was inoperable however. The bathrooms could be cleaner, but in fairness there were probably 100 people staying in Loop B that were using Loop A’s bathroom as well for changing and putting makeup on, etc. ~ it was some special tribal event, so the bathrooms got pretty gross. Can’t beat the price, $10/night with a senior pass. I will definitely stay there again when I am in the area.

This was a great campground! Pulled in around noon on a Friday and had a choice of many sites, most of which had a nice flat spot for our tent. The campground didn’t seem to completely fill up until mid evening. Definitely was much less busy and much quieter than the nearby KOA. Lots of space and privacy at many of the sites and there was even free firewood available while we were there.

I camped here for two days recently with my wife in a 26 foot travel trailer.  We entered the campground around 10 am and were able to quickly find a nice spot at the outer perimeter of the campground with a view.  This was campsite B7.  It was level, with a fire ring, free wood, clean aluminum picnic table and maybe 150 feet from the clean and well-maintained restroom with flush toilets.  Water is available from nearby spigots.  There are lots of trees and the campground hosts maintain the peace and quiet.  There are no water, electric and sewer sites, which was fine, since we are used to dry camping.  I think that the lack of services makes it easier to find an open spot.  Of course, there was great access to Devil's Tower.  We really enjoyed the hiking trail around the base of the Tower.  It is easy, and is asphalt paved all the way.  There are other trails as well, but not paved.  I was very happy with our experience here.

Great location if you want to explore Devil's Tower and hike around. A short drive past the entrance of the park is this convenient first come first serve campground. 

The campground has 2 loops with all pull through gravel sites which vary in degree of levelness. 35 foot max RV length. There is no privacy but everyone there was really nice and neighbors chatted with each other. Lots of trees and some sites are shadier than others and some have amazing views of Devil's Tower. There are no hook ups and despite most of the sites being taken by RVs there was very minimal generator noise which is always a welcome surprise.

Each site had a fire pit though no fires allowed at the time we were there and signs posted and pits were taped off reminding you not to start a fire. There was also picnic tables at each site as well. Flush toilets, garbage and recycling as well as drinking water available. You can access hiking to the trails around the tower from this campground. 

Also near the campground is Prairie Dog Town where you can watch these cute critters pop in an out of their holes and run about screaming. Do not try to feed or touch them. They do not want to be in your selfie nor do they want to be your friend. 

You can walk a trail from the campground and a short distance on the road back over the bridge out the entrance gate to the 2 stores just outside the park. One is KOA run and had a cafe as well. Both had some camping supplies and souvenirs as well as beer:).

The Host/Park Ranger was awesome! They will come by and make sure you’ve got everything situated. The sites are pretty basic but nice. Lots of trees for shade. There is one large sink by the bathrooms for washing dishes, but no water by the sites. A little expensive to get in, with no pass it’s 25 to get in the park, 20 to camp. But if you have a pass it will be cheaper. A short drive to the visitors center. Great area and of course a great view of Devils Tower.

Great campground at Devil's Tower, inside the park gates. Sites are first-come, first-served, but we were there three nights and there was always at least a couple of sites free. Most have some shade. Modern toilets were clean and maintained (no showers though). Sandy the camp host was attentive and lots of fun. And you really can't beat the view! Definitely would go back. One of the best campgrounds we've stayed at, in one of the coolest locations!

Side note: The Devil's Tower View store and restaurant nearby has good food and sells beer and drinks at reasonable prices--DO NOT buy your beer at the KOA store or the DT Trading Post ($17 for a six pack!!! No thanks).

We pulled in about 7pm to a rainy campground and grabbed an envelope. At 7pm on a Saturday night it was quiet with only the sound of the rain. Surprisingly, the campground was 70% full when we drove threw and grabbed the first spot we saw. When we woke the next morning it was at least 90% full, still quiet, and the blue sky gave way to the most incredible view of Devil’s Tower!! Everything was clean, safe feeling, and people from all over walking their dogs. This campground is a must!!!

We had a great experience camping here. The camp hosts were very helpful and friendly. Sites were spacious. Bathrooms were spotless.

We arrived around 4pm and they still had about over 1/2 the sites available. The host was really nice and the park ranger gave us a premium spot on the end of Loop A. It was right in the view of the tower and beautiful to see. The tent site was flat and well maintained. It rained and was super windy but our tent held up fine. Really close to both trails that go around the monument.

We rolled into the campground, which is FCFS, rather late in the afternoon and grabbed the second site we found. By dark, it appeared that the campground was full. Most sites are pull through and there is ample space between them. No generator usage between 8 PM and 8 AM which made for a very quiet nights sleep.

The views of Devils Tower are wonderful. There is a trail up to the tower leads straight from the campground or it’s a quick drive to the visitors center if you’d rather not walk.

Very positive vibe in the campground. Would definitely stay again.

Literally steps away from Devils Tower, could see it through the window in my tent! Highly recommend!

I love that it was first come first serve. There were plenty of spots since this is a pretty large campground. Normal bathrooms with toilets and sinks. It was clean and well maintained. And only 2 miles from the base of devils tower. Definitely worth the $20 night fee

The campground is only 2.1 miles from Devils Tower parking lot but the view is incredible. The nights silhouette of the tower was also pretty awesome! The campground has flushing toilets and drinkable spring water. Camp host were very friendly and helpful. Monument entrance $20 for 7 days and $20 per night to camp.

Nicely maintained campground in Devils Tower National Monument.  Had choice of sites at check out time in June.  Great views of Devils Tower and easy access to trail that leads to the tower.   Clean bathrooms, no showers, potable water, mature trees but little privacy.

Stayed here 1 night on a 5 week long canning trip. That night, a thunderstorm in the distance lit up spectacular fireworks behind the view of Devil's Tower, perfectly viewed from the campground. Not a lot of amenities here, but good showers and it was a quiet location.

Devil's tower has some of the most unique rock climbing we've ever experienced. And the adorable prairie dogs were an added bonus! Main downside of the campground in the summer is that there isn't much shade. Still five stars, as the facilities are very clean and the short driving distance to the tower is really convenient.

Went off-season (early October) and was able to take my pick of sore’s from the nearly-empty location.

Bathrooms were open. At the tower itself, both visitor centers were closed, though rangers were present.

Note: registration is available on-site via cash or check only. To use a credit/debit card, you must pay at the entrance station. Take the placard they give you (or the stub from the envelope if you pay at the site) and attach it to the pole next to your campsite.

Devil's Tower can be one of those parks which quickly can have a line just to get in, especially on busy holiday weekends.    I visited on Labor Day and found that the early bird gets the worm when it comes to entry and camping alike.     While there are other camping facilities just outside of the grounds the ability to simply wake up and hit a trail from your campground is something of unique appeal.    

As you enter the park you will wind around the way with spectacular views of the Devil's tower, pass through prairie dog town and then stumble upon the campground just before ascending to the parking area for the tower's popular trails and small information center.     When crowds are large parking in this area is tight, which is why camping inside the parks bounds has even more of an appeal.    I found that the campground had an access trail which allowed you some of the best views of the tower and also the red beds.    

There are two access points, one to the lower area and one to the higher allowing you to completely bypass the majority of the tourism traffic unless you really want to take the paved ADA trail.

Campsite is spacious and has limited number of sites so registration on a busy weekend is best done online.   On a normal day of the week the campground can fill up by noon so keep that in mind if you are wanting to wing it.

Camp offers all the basics of home without showers.    Flushing toilets and running water are centrally located as is potable water.    This makes even camping in a tent feel luxurious as you are nestled under large shade trees with the Devil's Tower right in your backyard view.     Additionally there is abundant cell signal at all points around the park.    

While there is no firewood or a local store located in the park, less than 50 yards from the entrance gate is a general store and restaurant which has everything you need and despite being so close prices are fairly reasonable.   

I greatly enjoyed the area and also the company of the neighboring campers at this location, everyone was generally very friendly!!  I felt like in comparison to other area campgrounds the price was also just right for what was offered at only $20.     

TIPS:  

• Get the Annual Pass for Parks for only $80 and save big if you are visiting more than one park.   There are several within a stones throw of this area you will want to visit including Wind Cave, Jewel Cave and Rushmore.
• Try the Red Beds trail for a unique vantage point which seems completely disjointed from the look of Devil's Tower.   For more information about this I suggest doing a little research beforehand.
