"There are some cabins also," mentioned one reviewer of Tatanka Campground, noting they complement the standard campsites along the lake. Devils Tower KOA cabins remain particularly popular due to their proximity to the monument.

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Kitchen facilities vary significantly between locations, with KOA cabins typically offering more amenities than state park accommodations. On-site stores at Devils Tower KOA provide basic provisions, food options, and camping supplies. Keyhole State Park cabins offer convenient access to the lake for fishing and water activities, making them suitable for those seeking recreation opportunities. Cabin locations typically provide fire rings and picnic tables, though fire restrictions may apply during dry conditions or high-risk periods.

      Devils Tower KOA

Great amenities just not for us

Great little campground close to the monument. All the modern amenities. They also offer cabin rentals which is nice if you dont want to bring all your gear or weather the elements. Personally we prefer a more rustic state/national park style campground. Next time we visit devils tower we'll be making the short drive from Custer.

      Devils Tower KOA

      Devil's Tower KOA

Devil's Tower KOA has an incredible view and is adjacent to the Devil's Tower National Monument Entrance.

Lovely KOA with all the KOA amenities, one bathroom/showerhouse in great shape and the other under renovation. They have a pool and playground and of course had a showing of 'Close Encounters'. The camping cabin we stayed in was clean and comfortable with AC and heat available. The view of the tower from the cabin was stunning.

I was very impressed with the trees and space between sites in this KOA - quarters were not as tight as we sometimes see. An excellent KOA.

The Devil's Tower area is a beautiful lanscape, with deep native roots. When in the area please respect it and learn about the stories and traditions of its caretakers.

Tatanka Campground — Keyhole State Park

      Beautiful Park!

Loved this park, the bay was very peaceful.   Most sites have water and electric.   There is a dump station at the front of the park.  Spaces have cement picnic tables and fire pits, but due to high risk, fires were not allowed while we were there.  Good spacing between sites and bathrooms through out.  Central shower house may be a distance from your site.  Our site was not very level, but we were able to manage.   There are some cabins also.

      Devils Tower KOA

      Great View

Great KOA at the edge of the park. No a/c in the cabins. Plenty of souvenirs, a nightly movie and a great view of the Wyoming hills. Price is reflective of them having the only campground around.

Mountain View RV Park & Campground

      We love this campground!

The spots are a little close together, but, the amenities are amazing! Very clean pool, restrooms and showers! They also have a laundry room with 4 washers and 4 dryers. They have a pool table and ping pong table (free!). They have a nice outside covered area with picnic tables and Giant Jenga! We spent 5 nights here and loved it! The owners are really nice too!

      Iron Creek Lake Campground

      Beautiful Family Campground

We camped at Iron Creek Lake after the rally, at the end of August.  It was wonderful, not crowded.  The cafe/diner has things like burgers and ice cream, and the fishing in the lake is great.  The trail around the lake is easy to walk and there is some beach area for frog catching and splashing around with little kids.  This is a great lake to have a water toy like a kayak, and there are rentals available too.  We have a 30' TT and didn't have any problem at the far end of the lake setting up flat and level camping.  Power was there as well.  There are many sites here on a hill, so depending on what you get, you may be in for a tricky parking situation with a longer trailer.  We didn't even use the dumpstation as the way it is positioned I couldn't get the tanks dumped, so that was a bummer.  We went into Spearfish campground owned by the city and dumped there.

      Devils Tower KOA

Conveinent location with an up and close view!

The location is at the foot of Devils Tower. The cabins are clean and a showerhouse with laundry services is provided. They also have a post office, dinner, two stores, and a convenience store across the street.

    Guide to Moorcroft

Cabin camping near Moorcroft, Wyoming offers varied accommodations within a 30-mile radius. Situated in the northeastern Wyoming plains at approximately 4,200 feet elevation, the area serves as a gateway to Devils Tower National Monument and Keyhole State Park. Winter temperatures frequently drop below freezing, while summer days can reach 90°F with low humidity.

    What to do

Fishing at Keyhole State Park: At Tatanka Campground, the lake provides excellent fishing opportunities. "Beautiful lake, not a ton of sandy beach areas but good size lake for water sports and walleye fishing," notes Cindy B. about Tatanka Campground.

Outdoor movie experience: Devils Tower KOA screens movies with the monument as backdrop. "They show 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' every night, outside with the tower in the background. Very cheesy but very cool," reports Julie W. about Devils Tower KOA.

Hiking trails: Iron Creek Lake offers scenic walking paths around the water. "The trail around the lake is easy to walk and there is some beach area for frog catching and splashing around with little kids," explains Aaron S.

    What campers like

Lake views from cabins: Many cabins at Keyhole State Park overlook the water. "Loved this park, the bay was very peaceful. Most sites have water and electric. There are some cabins also," mentions Debra M. about Tatanka Campground.

Stargazing opportunities: The open skies provide excellent star viewing. "The trade off is the wide open skies and STARS. Bathrooms and Showers are Awesome!" shares Mary J. about Devils Tower KOA.

Cabin locations: Many cabins offer strategic placement for views. "We stayed here for one night, but it was amazing! We picked a site with a view and we didn't regret that one bit!" says Kim N.

    What you should know

Price considerations: Non-Wyoming residents pay significantly higher fees at state parks. "Wyoming state parks seem to be hostile to non residents. You can only reserve online. Online reservation fee $8. Fee for electric site $18. Electric fee additional $10. Non resident fee $12. Plus tax. $2.34," details Mike C.

Varied cabin amenities: Facilities differ between locations. "The bathroom/showers were very clean and had great bathroom music. A nice spot. I do think they were kinda close but that didn't bother us," notes Amy H. about Mountain View RV Park & Campground.

Seasonal considerations: Many campgrounds close during winter months. "We visited at the end of the season, so a lot of their sites were already closed up in preparation for shutting down for the year," mentions MickandKarla W.

    Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Some locations offer recreational facilities. "They have a pool table and ping pong table (free!). They have a nice outside covered area with picnic tables and Giant Jenga! We spent 5 nights here and loved it!" shares Maureen M. about Mountain View RV Park & Campground.

Swimming options: Several campgrounds provide pools or lake access. "This is a great lake to have a water toy like a kayak, and there are rentals available too," notes Aaron S. about Iron Creek Lake Campground.

Weekday vs. weekend stays: Crowds differ significantly. "We happened to be here Father's Day weekend and let me say it was way over packed and a bit annoying. Reminded me of a summer camp which is cool if you're a kid...Come Monday however it was very peaceful again," advises Hannah P.

    Tips from RVers

Site leveling challenges: Many campgrounds feature uneven terrain. "I have a 25' camper and the site they put me in was pretty tight and on a hill as most are here. Took all my blocks and a couple big stumps but we got it figured out," cautions Hannah P.

Facilities access: Some dump stations have positioning issues. "We didn't even use the dumpstation as the way it is positioned I couldn't get the tanks dumped, so that was a bummer," warns Aaron S.

Off-season opportunities: Shoulder seasons offer more solitude. "I stayed for 2 nights in the off season. When I called ahead the hosts said it was on them due to the off season and said to enjoy the space," shares Abigail C. about Iron Creek Lake Campground.
