Best RV Parks & Resorts near Long Beach, WA

The Long Beach Peninsula offers several big-rig friendly RV parks with varying amenities and site configurations. Wallicut River RV Resort & Campground in Ilwaco features 105 full hookup sites with both 30 and 50 amp electrical service, accommodating larger motorhomes and fifth wheels. Cedar to Surf Campground in Ocean Park provides year-round access with full hookups and 30 amp service in a more intimate setting. Thousand Trails Long Beach in Seaview operates throughout the year with spacious sites that include water, sewer, and electrical connections for RVs of all sizes. Sand Castle RV Park in Long Beach itself offers basic full hookup sites within walking distance of the beach. "The sites are really flat and clean with bathroom & showers located nearby," noted one RV camper about the nearby Cape Disappointment State Park.

Cell service varies significantly throughout the peninsula, with many RV parks experiencing limited connectivity - particularly those closer to the beach. Most RV campgrounds in the area are pet-friendly, though leash requirements are strictly enforced. During peak summer months and holiday weekends, advance reservations are essential as these coastal RV parks fill quickly. Dump stations are available at several locations including Oceanic RV Park and Wallicut River RV Resort, while propane service can be found at select facilities. Winter camping remains viable at year-round parks like Thousand Trails and Cedar to Surf, though some amenities may be reduced during off-season periods. The main access roads to Long Beach Peninsula RV parks are well-maintained, though interior campground roads may be narrower with tight turns in older facilities.

    Fort Stevens State Park Campground

    RV-camping

Loved this State Park! The trails around it were fun and led from the camp right up to the beach by the old ship wreck. My kids ages 2-14 always had something to do and we brought our bikes. The camping sites and RV sites are cheap compared to Utah, Washington and Idaho rates, but they were also very nice! A little close together but nice. You have to book your site months in advance at this place because it fills up fast. So much to do in this area! Close to seaside, the fort Stevens retired military site was free and interesting-with a scavenger hunt and prize at the end for the kids who complete it. Also, close to Astoria which also has many things to do! Loved that it was close enough to drive over the Columbia River to get to Washington to see the light houses!

    Cannon Beach RV Resort

    Walk to Haystack Rock

Just east of Hwy 101 in Cannon Beach, this RV resort is an easy (really!) 10 minute walk to the beach, just north of Haystack Rock. A sidewalk underpass under 101 and a path through a small city park makes it a family-friendly, dog-friendly walk to the outstanding beach sunsets. A bit longer walk (or easy bike ride) takes you into the heart of Cannon Beach with all the restaurants, ice cream shops, galleries, coffee shops and candy stores. Campground is open year round, has full hook-ups, good wifi, well managed and maintained, has an indoor pool and hot tub (pool facility was closed during covid, check on availability) decent bath houses (also closed during covid), nice sites with lots of tall trees. They also sell propane, firewood and have a gas station. (And they even have an electric car charging station, if you need it) Fun fact: In the winter months you will likely see the local elk herd around town. Note: no tents allowed and our ATT service only has one bar at our site. Would definitely recommend this place for RV camping.

Circle Creek RV Park & Campground

Dog friendly open space near Seaside

Large RV campground just south of town. Very quiet. Friendly staff. Dog friendly including a fenced off dog run! The pups were happy to stretch their legs. Clean bathrooms and warm showers. Laundry on site. We stayed on the grass over in boondock side. Level sites. If you need power/water...those sites looked large and had decent amount of space between. We showed up after office hours and we’re still able to snag a spot.

    Cannon Beach RV Resort

Perfect spot to camp with an indoor pool

Close to town biking or walking. Nice well kept grounds. Cable tv hookups WiFi (although not very robust) Ethernet jacks at power posts, so you could make your own WiFi I guess. Great spot for camping and working. Nice friendly staff. It has the only gas station in town also has air and propane stations.

    Cape Disappointment State Park Campground

    OK campgrounds, great location

Has hookup and primitive sites plus yurts. We camped at a primitive site. Sites were level, smallish, not private, with fire ring and picnic table. Bathrooms were clean. There’s a dump & trash station. Beach, lighthouses, hiking trails phenomenal. Close to towns of Long Beach & Seaview. Would stay again.

    Cannon Beach RV Resort

    Elk Bugles and Chuckles

Tucked away in the trees of Cannon Beach is this nice little RV Resort. All amenities were top notch for your needs at a park. The Elk greeted us and were eating all the flowers as we entered. Gas station, propane, laundry, showers, convenience store, pool and two shower/restroom facilities. Paved parking spots with fire pit, picnic tables and full hookup.

Andersen's Oceanside RV Park & Cottages

    Please read

This is long but I wish someone wrote it so I knew what I was atleast spending our money on. I’ll first write about the website and how it lies and then my experience, with pictures. For context, we have a 43-foot fifth wheel that stands at a standard height of 13’6”, totaling approximately 60 feet in length with our truck. Discrepancies in Site Descriptions: Forested Sites: 1. The website advertised three large grassy areas. In reality, one was occupied by the campsite manager. Though there are two sites remaining, the one closest to the store backs up into low-hanging branches that could easily damage our solar panels and things on top and was not in an area or wide enough for us to back in our 43’ fifth wheel. 2. Amazing for Slides: The two available sites might work for slides, but the most narrow spot would have posed a significant risk. Which is the one we were supposed to have. If you don’t have slide toppers, your slides would be filled with leaves and branches. 3. Size Claims: The website states sites are 100'x50'. The owner specifically state that they are 70'x20' and none of the sites are100’x50’. 4. Surface Quality: The site closest to the store was somewhat gravel, but weeds were growing over it. Further back, it became more uneven, with slopes and hills leading into grass rather than a proper gravel pad. 5. Connectivity: The advertised satellite, TV, and Wi-Fi were virtually non-existent. Wi-Fi in the other areas was terrible, leading to frustrating experiences trying to connect. 6. Fire Pit: We booked a spot with a fire pit, which we were told would be moved to our site from the forested area. However, we never received it. Thankfully, we brought our own. Prime Sites: 1. Surrounding Environment: Claims of being quietly surrounded by grassy dunes and playful pines are misleading. While there are sand dunes, the pines are very far from the sites; you are primarily in a campground without immediate tree access. 2. Proximity to Beach: this was accurate it was a nice walk 3. Size: Again, the owner mentioned that all sites are 70'x20,' contradicting the 100'x20' claim online. Our fifth wheel did not fit adequately, forcing us to deal with dirt and litter behind us. 4. Patio Description: The site described a sand entry on their site and a beauty-barked entry when you go to book. It is in fact sand which is why I purposely booked the forested site 5. Wi-Fi Quality: Rather than excellent Wi-Fi, we experienced frequent disconnections, and often it only worked late at night when the campground was quiet. Overall Experience: Upon arrival, I was met with the owner stating that we didn’t need to get out of the truck, which seemed convenient at first. However, once led to the incorrect site, I expressed our booking for a forest site, only to be told they preferred to place us elsewhere because of our size(which we did specify during booking) The roads were a bit narrow for turning around a big rig despite them saying big rig friendly, and backing into a suitable site required a three-point turn, making it an complicated process. When I approached the office regarding a refund for the site difference, the owner reeked of pot(I usually don’t care but I would rather do business with someone sober than argue with someone stoned). the owner was immediately confrontational and dismissive. Despite my attempts to explain the situation, he insisted that all sites were the same and refused to acknowledge the misleading size and price differences. His behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable. When I asked him about price and size difference he kept saying it was all the same and the only difference was the forested site got a fireplace for free and it would follow me however we never did get it. How wife at one time during the argument came out and said she would give us a refund for the difference and he told her to shut the hell up. He then told us to either take what we were given(at the lesser price) or take a full refund and leave. I later discovered that the owner has a history of confrontations, as noted in various reviews, which further dampened our experience. In conclusion, the forest and prime sites are not worth the price of$125 per night. I also never received the promised fireplace, which was an additional disappointment. Having booked in March for an August stay and specifically choosing the forested site, I expected a much better experience. Overall the difference in price between what I booked and what I got was$135 for the 4 nights.

    Hoquiam River RV Park

    Close to beaches

This campground is about 45 minutes south of Quinault Lake in Olympic NP. So it adds a lot of extra time and miles to explore ONP. It is about 20 minutes to the beaches, which was great. You can drive your car right up onto the beach, which was awesome. The showers and laundry were very clean. Site were full hookups, but very close together. Sites are very close together with no privacy. There are many long-term RV's here. The area fronting the river is very well landscaped and offers fire rings, benches, grills, and a nature path to walk your dog.

    Fort Stevens State Park Campground

Lots to do in this State Park

The state park (SP) was fairly easy to find as there are SP signs well before the park, and all the way to the park regardless of which direction you are coming in from. WAZE and our RV GPS wanted to take us down other streets, but we held the course following the signs. There are multiple ways to get to the park, but the signs lead you to the most RV friendly roads. We turned into the park entrance, where there was a huge parking lot and a sign to register. Check-in was quick and easy. Our cost was an $8 online booking fee, with both of us having the Oregon State Park Disabled Veteran Pass. This pass provides 10 days of free camping per month to disabled veterans, resident or non-resident. We proceeded right out of the parking lot and to the H loop, where we drove to site H10 with FHUs. This is an old loop with lots of trees, but the road was passable with our 40’ fifth wheel. However, site H10 has a brush on the driver’s side and low-hanging trees on the passenger side. It’s a tight back-in, and you have to hit the pad exactly to keep from scraping the driver’s side, and we brushed branches on our 13.5’ roof. After several tries and some minor scraping, we got into the site. We asked a park ranger if we could trim the branches so they wouldn’t scrape the roof, especially in the wind. The ranger gave us permission to hand trim. On select loops(there’s a sign as you exit the registration parking lot on where) they sell firewood by the camp host areas for $7 a bundle. They also sell kindling for $4 a bundle. The water pressure was okay, and we had no issues with the sewer or electric. As we were here for two weeks and football junkies, we tried to get Starlink to connect with no luck as there were too many trees. We had 2 bars on Verizon, so we were able to get some internet with our MiFi. Fort Stevens is a huge campground with a variety of site sizes and utility options. The best loop for big rigs, in our opinion, is the newer O loop(water and electric 50/30/20 AMP only) that doesn’t have as many trees or shrubs between sites. The O loop’s even-numbered sites 2-26 are big-rig friendly and open enough to provide satellite shots, especially for Starlink. In general, just our opinion, loops B, C, D, E, F, G& M, are better suited for tents and/or shorter rigs(up to 35’). Class A's and 5th wheels may have trouble with overhead branches. Loops I, J, and N have plenty of sites that will fit big rigs, but read reviews as loops I and J are heavily wooded with overhead branches and brush/shrubs separating sites like in the H loop. There are a ton of trails to walk or bike. We really enjoyed all that Fort Stevens State Park has to offer, with a side benefit being all the elk roaming around the campground and deer hanging out at our campsite.

Guide to Long Beach

Long Beach Peninsula campsites span over 28 miles of Washington coastline with varying cell service quality depending on proximity to towns. Several campgrounds remain open year-round despite winter temperatures averaging 45°F. Most facilities enforce quiet hours from 10pm to 7am with additional noise restrictions during peak summer weekends.

What to do

Beach activities: Thousand Trails Long Beach offers easy beach access via a short path. "A 5 minute walk down the beach path leads to a great beach. The sites are tight, but the town was fun," notes Kate S. The International Kite Festival draws visitors annually to the peninsula.

Biking opportunities: The Discovery Trail runs near several campgrounds and provides traffic-free cycling. "Lots of amenities in this crowded campground right on the Discover Trail for hiking and biking along the beach and in Cape Disappointment state park," reports Janine B. about Thousand Trails.

Fishing excursions: Wallicut River RV Resort provides convenient access to fishing spots. "This is a good private campground just off Hyway 101 near Long Beach WA, the placement of the campground give a short drive to Long Beach or Astoria, OR both locations are loads of fun. Making this site location ideal," explains Robert K.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Astoria-Warrenton-Seaside KOA maintains high cleanliness standards. "Clean with a large variety of camping options," comments Marie Y. The campground features modern restrooms and showers that campers frequently praise.

Winter camping options: Year-round access makes off-season visits possible at certain locations. "We usually camp every Labor Day weekend. Your average koa. Pools, games, pancakes, so on. Close to Seaside and Astoria. Overall really fun," mentions Carson C.

Pet-friendly areas: Many campgrounds provide dedicated dog spaces. "For pet owners, there's a convenient dog park where dogs can run and play," writes Jeffrey Y. about Thousand Trails Long Beach. Cedar to Surf Campground also welcomes pets with space to exercise.

What you should know

Campsite spacing: RV Park At The Bridge offers more room between sites than other options. "In contrast to other reviews, I thought it was pretty nice. Traffic is minimal and there's decent spacing between sites," notes Allison W. This differs from many peninsula campgrounds where sites sit closer together.

Road noise considerations: Highway proximity affects some campgrounds. "Super nice bathrooms and laundry facility. Pretty well situated. Only downside is the highway noise," reports Daniel W. about RV Park At The Bridge.

Site layout challenges: Many campgrounds feature tight turning radiuses or difficult backing situations. "The spaces are very tight at 90 degree angles to the road. This requires backing skill level 10! The north side and middle give little room for it," explains Derek & Alex W.

Tips for camping with families

Indoor recreation options: Thousand Trails Seaside provides weather-proof activities. "This is a very quiet campground, activities we found at the campground to keep busy was a very nice indoor pool, indoor sauna, indoor spa and exercise room with treadmills," shares Jeff C.

Beach proximity: Choose campgrounds with direct beach access for easier trips with children. "The beach access is located very close. The beach is clean and lots of fun smaller cliffs to climb on," writes Nicole R.

Playground quality: Check recent reviews about playground conditions before booking. "Having children, the playground and pool are a huge deal when you're camping at an RV resort. Well, the playground was rusted over and had pieces that were missing to it, the swings were broken as well," cautions Erika T.

Tips from RVers

Hookup configuration: Cedar to Surf Campground provides full hookup sites with specific layout considerations. "The sites were level and easy to back in to. Our site had sewer, electricity, and water hook up. The sewer connection at the campsite was a nice plus," comments Jeff C.

Off-season availability: Multiple RV parks remain open year-round with varying amenity availability. "Under new ownership so we thought we would give them a try! They have spruced it up and are working everyday on making it even better! The new owners are pleasant and we will definitely be back," shares Danielle M. about Cedar to Surf.

Site selection strategy: Even-numbered sites often have better hookup configurations. "Odd numbers site have hook ups on the right, even have hook ups on the left (drivers side)," advises Jamie R., which can prevent the need for expensive hose extensions.
