    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

The Elma region offers several well-established RV parks with varying amenities and site configurations. Grays Harbor County Fair Campground provides spacious RV sites with electric and water hookups, situated in a fairly level area with minimal crowding when events aren't taking place. Little Creek Casino Resort RV Park in nearby Shelton operates year-round with full hookup sites including 50-amp service, catering specifically to RV travelers with big rig friendly access. Hoquiam River RV Park, located about 30 minutes west of Elma, features full hookup sites with both 30 and 50-amp electrical service, sewer connections, and accommodations for larger motorhomes. "The sites had a concrete slab and fit our Jayco 174BH perfectly," noted one RV camper about the nearby Riverbend Campground, which offers water and electric hookups with a convenient dump station.

Cell service varies significantly throughout the region, with AT&T generally providing better coverage than T-Mobile according to visitor reports. Most RV parks in the area welcome pets but require them to be leashed at all times. Propane fill services are limited, with some parks offering this only on weekdays. Summer months see higher occupancy rates, particularly at parks closest to Olympic National Park and coastal areas. The proximity to Highway 12 makes most RV campgrounds easily accessible for larger rigs, though some secondary roads leading to specific parks may present challenges during wet weather. Dump stations are available at most parks, though Bayshore RV Park notably lacks this amenity, requiring travelers to plan accordingly. Several parks operate year-round, providing options for winter RV camping when many state park campgrounds close their RV loops.

      Copalis Beach RV Resort

      RV resort and campground

This an ideal beach access resort. There is a very nice pedestrian walkway bridge over a small stream and then a short walk through the dunes to a beautiful ocean beach. During certain times of the year vehicles are allowed to drive on the beach through various access points within a couple of miles of the resort.

We visited this resort during the off-season in November and during the middle of the week. There were only 8 other campers in the park with a few long termers. You can purchase a membership but it is not necessary to stay here. Visitors are welcome but it can be very busy during the summer time and holidays. I would call for availability.

This is an older park and facilities show their age but the bathrooms and showers were very clean. There is a dedicated tent only area and a few cabin rentals. RV sites are side by side and back to back. There is no shade. RV sites are full hookup with water, power, sewer and cable. There is also a dump site on location. Wi-fi is available for a fee, otherwise not accessible. We forgot to sign-in to our Winegard Gateway before arriving so we had data but no Wi-fi. Gravel sites with a little grass and fairly level.

Pet friendly but dogs must be leashed. Our dog had a great time running on the beach and walking the trails in the dunes.

Propane and ice available on site.

There is a community fire pit and portable propane fire pits are allowed at the sites.

Not all sites have picnic tables.

The town of Ocean Shores is about a 20 minute drive.

On site resort manager, Timothy and his wife, were very friendly and always willing to help.

      Pacific Dunes Resort

      Close together spaces

Smaller rv gravel sites. Difficult for guests to back in due to sharp cornersand tight smaller spaces. Space just for 26' travel trailer no room for tow vehicle. Used extra parking by dumpster. All utilities included. Nice wooden privacy fence behind all the rv sites. Picnic table and firepit with movable grill on it. Propane grill next to sand play area. Wifi was good. NO Cell reception for T-Mobile or Verizon.

      Hoquiam River RV Park

      Close to beaches

This campground is about 45 minutes south of Quinault Lake in Olympic NP. So it adds a lot of extra time and miles to explore ONP. It is about 20 minutes to the beaches, which was great. You can drive your car right up onto the beach, which was awesome. The showers and laundry were very clean. Site were full hookups, but very close together. Sites are very close together with no privacy. There are many long-term RV's here. The area fronting the river is very well landscaped and offers fire rings, benches, grills, and a nature path to walk your dog.

      Lake Sylvia State Park Campground

      Hidden Gem

Set in a former logging camp above the town of Montesano, park life revolves around a large swimming and fishing lake. This site is super family friendly and pet friendly too.

There is a playground on site and TONS of old logging roses turned bike trails.

There are plenty of tent and RV sites and s few primitive sites for campers. There are showers a flushing toilets.

      Private and quiet RV parking

      Loved this campground

Really nice campground that had everything we were looking for in an RV resort.  Nice paved and level sites that can accommodate any size RV. Some of the best features are the heated swimming pool, large clubhouse for gatherings with comfortable seating and a super large tv, free dryers in the laundry and a decent amount of space between sites.  All the roads and campsites are paved with grass in between.  The patios are paved but very small and not in a great location for our class A motorhome (better suited for towables with their doors farther back). The free public beach access is a short 5-minute drive away but beware this parking lot fills up quickly. Or, drive to Bishop Road where there are a few spaces but great access. Another alternative is to pay the entrance fee at nearby Topsail Hill Preserve State Park ($6/carload) and take the free shuttle.  The state park beach is usually less crowded than other public beaches (and you can take paddleboards on the shuttle or rent them/ kayaks/beach chairs/umbrellas at the state park). The campground does offer a free shuttle which is another great option. We found the utilities worked well. The campground and facilities are very clean and well-cared for.  Nice pool if you don't want to take the trouble to go to the beach (although they are amazing).  There are plenty of hiking opportunities at Point Washington State Forest and Topsail Hill and Grayton Beach State Parks. The biggest cons are that there are no shade and no picnic tables. The patios are paved but somewhat small and not always convenient to your front door.

      Riverbend Campground

      Nice campground with friendly staff

Interesting the other review was for a first time out with their travel trailer!  Same for us!

We got site 106 which was the furthest one out, it was right along the river.  The site has a concrete slab and fit our Jayco 174BH perfectly.

This site does is a back in, but the slab is at a 90 degree angle from the drive.  So you will have to back your trailer around a corner if you plan to park it on the slab.  Didn't see other sites like this.

The campground did have a very small selection of items to buy, but mainly snacks.  They do fill propane tanks, but only during week days.

The site had water and electrical, but no sewer connections.  they do have a nice dump station.

The camp ground itself did have at least 2 pet areas neither are fenced so a leash is required, along with a playground for the kids.

We have Verizon and had no issues with cell signal at this campground.

Also, this is a private campground, so they have a guy that stands at the gate to open it when guests come arrive.

      Kemp Olson Memorial Park

      Good for a quick overnight

Quaint and quiet town. Small quiet park with electric and water and a dump station. Site two is a pull through that is not set up right to have your awning on the correct side (see photo). Other pull through was too small for our 33’ tt. Sites adequately spaced for some privacy. Nice playground for kids and horseshoe courts. Dog friendly. Nice drive over white pass from Yakima.

      Kemp Olson Memorial Park

Nice, small and largely undiscovered CG

We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow, were meeting friends in the area and visiting Mt. Rainier. The CG has seen some recent improvements, including graveling of the 12 campsite pads. Some of the sites have picnic tables, none of them have fire pits, and only one, site 12, has a grill. We were in site 2 for 4 days in early September. Ours was one of 2 pull-throughs, but ours was on the inside of the loop, which put the utilities on the correct side, but the awing side was close to the road and a large tree, so we had to setup chairs and such on the utility side. Most of the sites are pretty well spaced. There were only a handful of campers here when we arrived on the Friday before the Labor Day weekend and come Saturday, there were only two left besides us. Unfortunately, one of the two remaining was a long-timer, maybe the grounds keeper(?), who often let his little dog run loose in the CG, and though friendly enough, it barked at those who passed near it. The park has a playground and a coin operated water fountain for the kids. There is an elementary school next door, so it can get a little raucous when the kids are outside. There were quite a few low hanging branches throughout the CG, but most were fairly small. I did mention this to the Toledo City Hall, who said they would put it on the list. Although there is a faded“Free WiFi Zone” as you enter the park, we were not able to detect one. AT&T coverage good, ranging from 3-4 Bars of LTE with speeds up to 15 MB/s. We were able to get DISH coverage on some of

      Pacific Beach State Park Campground

      Simplicity at the beach

There isn't a lot of privacy between slots but this campground offers RV, tent and yurts. Electrical HU only but dump site available. It's right off the beach with a little shop in walking distance. There's also a motel with an accessible laundry room nearby. There is a huge expanse of beach to play on when the tide is out. Most campers leave dogs off leash on the beach. Tons of kites flying through the summer days, it's beautiful. Campfires on the beach allowed. Camp hosts are great and facilities upkeep is well managed. Two shower tokens per dollar, each token = 3 minutes. Summer books up quickly, need to secure 9 months in advance. Cell service is very spotty and campground WiFi is as well.

    Guide to Elma

RV campgrounds near Elma, Washington offer year-round accommodations in the southwestern region of the Olympic Peninsula where elevation ranges between 100-250 feet above sea level. The area experiences mild, wet winters and moderate summer temperatures that rarely exceed 85°F. Most campgrounds remain accessible during winter months when many neighboring Olympic Peninsula facilities close seasonal operations.

    What to do

Water activities at Lake Sylvia: Located about 20 minutes from Elma, this area provides fishing and swimming opportunities during summer months. "We pulled in late at night and on off season and they still accommodated us!" shared one camper about Hoquiam River RV Park, which serves as a convenient base for lake exploration.

Golf and camping combination: Some RV parks integrate recreational amenities directly on-site. Riverwoods Golf and RV features 20 sites with water and electric hookups adjacent to their golf course. A short drive away, "The campground is quiet, except for the nearby construction. The staff is super friendly and accommodating," notes a visitor about camping facilities in the region.

Blackberry picking: Seasonal berry picking becomes possible in late summer at many campgrounds. "The site was level and has plenty of ripe blackberries for picking," mentioned one camper at Thousand Trails Chehalis, where natural food foraging adds to the camping experience.

    What campers like

Clean shower facilities: Bathroom cleanliness consistently receives positive mentions from campers in the Elma region. "Bathrooms are clean. Laundry facility works really well. And the little walking trails along the river were gorgeous," reported one visitor about Hoquiam River RV Park, highlighting amenities beyond the basic hookups.

Walking trails: Natural pathways provide exercise opportunities at several campgrounds. "We checked out everything about it. Pool, showers, mini golf, the trails, the club houses to laundry room! There was nothing about it, that we did not like," shared a guest at Thousand Trails Chehalis.

Beach access: Some campgrounds offer direct routes to coastal areas. "Short walk to the beach, and facilities are well kempt," noted a reviewer about Thousand Trails Oceana, which provides ocean access approximately 45 minutes west of Elma.

    What you should know

Site spacing varies significantly: Many RV parks feature closely positioned sites with minimal privacy. "The spaces are very close together with no privacy. There are many long-term RVs here," observed one camper about regional park layouts. Other visitors note: "The sites had a concrete slab and fit our Jayco 174BH perfectly."

Casino proximity: Several RV parks operate in conjunction with tribal casinos. "Full hookups for the rver. Sites to 70 ft. No firepits is a downside but the upside is the best seafood bar in the area," reported a visitor to Little Creek Casino Resort RV Park, which maintains year-round operations.

Winter access: Unlike many Olympic Peninsula campgrounds that close seasonally, most Elma area RV parks remain operational throughout winter. "Heavy traffic prevented us from getting to our target destination. This was a nice place to stop for an overnight and the price was excellent for full hookup," noted one winter traveler.

    Tips for camping with families

Activity planning: Some campgrounds offer organized recreational programs. "Kids are helping review campgrounds we visited this summer. They loved that there was scavenger hunts for pigs in morning, tractor rides in afternoon, face painting, slushees, movie in lodge, crafts," shared a family staying at Thousand Trails Chehalis.

Beach safety considerations: When camping near coastal areas, parents should monitor tide conditions. "Great for kids because the inlet water is fairly shallow," explained a camper at Bayshore RV Park & Guest Suites, highlighting the family-friendly water features available within driving distance of Elma.

Seasonal occupancy impacts: Summer months bring significantly higher visitor numbers, especially during weekends. "The weekends are full of local tent campers and they are all out of control, noisy, don't pick up after their dogs, no boundaries," warned one RVer about peak season challenges.

    Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Terrain conditions vary across campgrounds in the region. "Some sites are beautiful with woods separating the sites and level spaces. Others are in the open with very slanted spaces," noted a visitor at one park, highlighting the importance of leveling equipment.

Power stability concerns: Electrical service quality fluctuates between facilities. "The power was really variable. Sometimes it would spike to 130 volts and then drop suddenly to 110," warned an RVer about potential electrical issues that can affect sensitive electronics and appliances.

Reservation timing: During summer months, advance bookings become essential at Elma area RV campgrounds. "Make reservations in advance!" emphasized a visitor to Sun Outdoors Gig Harbor, noting how quickly spaces fill during peak travel season, especially at parks with full hookup capabilities.
