Styled after a charming Bavarian village, Leavenworth lies at the foot of Washington’s eastern Cascade Range, and is backed by the sparkling granite peaks of the stunning Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Prior to its European facelift in the 1960s, Leavenworth was a rough and tumble logging town along the Great Northern Railway. Today, Leavenworth is a popular year-round destination for tourists and outdoor adventurers. Besides the many quaint shops, galleries, ice cream and candy parlors, brew houses, and bistros, the town hosts several fun events, including arts and crafts shows, classic car shows, beer and music festivals, Oktoberfest, and the Christmas Lighting Festival. For outdoor enthusiasts, there are abundant opportunities to hit the local trails and rivers for hiking, climbing, fishing and paddling. Located about 30 minutes north of Leavenworth, and just 10 minutes east of Lake Wenatchee, Leavenworth RV Campground makes a perfect basecamp for exploring the area, or just kicking back in some stunning mountain country. Boasting nearly 300 mostly wooded campsites, there’s a place for every kind of camper, from full- and partial-hookup RV sites, to small vehicle and tent sites. There’s also a selection of cabins, cottages, lodge rooms and tiny houses available. Restrooms and shower facilities are located in several of the camp areas, as well as a laundry room and dump station. Many sites and facilities are ADA accessible. Additional amenities include satellite TV, Wifi service, a clubhouse, library, game room, and store. Dogs are permitted. Campsites rates are $38–$52/night; other accommodations range from $147–$176/night; reservations recommended. You don’t have to travel far from the campground to enjoy an abundance of outdoor recreation. The resort features a large pool, sports courts—including mini golf, cornhole, and pickleball—and several walking, hiking and biking trails. Lounge beside one of the large ponds, or paddle around on a kayak or SUP. For summer hiking, pick up a trail map and head for the nearby Alpine Lakes Wilderness, where 100s of miles of trails climb high into a spectacular landscape of vivid lakes, flowering meadows, and towering peaks. Fishing and boating are available at nearby Lake Wenatchee, or try shooting the rapids on the Icicle and Wenatchee Rivers on a guided rafting trip. There’s plenty of winter outdoor fun as well, including local snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, downhill skiing and snowboarding at Stevens Pass, and sleigh rides around Leavenworth.

Bridgeport Marina RV Park is located on the Columbia River. The RV Park offers a boat launch and dock. Parking is available for your vehicle and trailer when you use the launch. Every RV site has water, sewer and 50/30/20 amp electrical hook-ups. The Park offers both pull-thru and back in sites.

The Park offers Fire Pits with BBQ grills or Pedestal Grills located at some sites and available in the common areas of the park.

The tent sites at Bridgeport Marina RV Park have a picnic table and fire pit with BBQ grill. There is no water or electric at these sites. They are located close to a restroom with showers.

Bridgeport Marina RV Park has the following amenities: a children's play area with swings and slides. There is a swimming area called the "lagoon". This lagoon has a small beach and dock for jumping off. No lifeguard on duty at any time. Also, a huge picnic area is available for day users. Bring your horseshoes and play a game in the Horseshoe Pit area. There is a Gazebo with a kitchenette available for rent.

    Thousand Trails Leavenworth

    Decently Spaced

The campground for being Thousand Trails was pleasant. We were able to find a spot easily enough. Our issue was finding availability for us and our daughter arriving the next day. The full hookup sites are close together and not great IMHO. We settled for the spore in the Lakeview area. This area of the campground will accommodate up to 22’ RV’s. Water and 110 electric. Quite dusty but it worked. The lake is nice, the trails around the grounds are fun. For the grandkids there is a lot to do and that was the draw for us this time. We prefer disbursed off grid most of the time to this type of campground.

    Lake Chelan State Park Campground

Waterfront Camping on popular Lake Chelan

This is a great park and a premium camping location on the popular Lake Chelan. A favorite location for west siders to escape the rain for some guaranteed sunshine in Central Washington.

This little town fills up in the summer time. The lake is filled with boats and all of the hotels and rentals sell out. This campground is a wonderful place to enjoy the area and set up camp. The campground is fantastic and still goes for dirt cheap rates of $12 for a tent site, they also offer full hook ups for RVs and everything in between if you want an outlet at your camp site.

Good news.. you can reserve your spot in advance. Bad news... the summer months fill up a year in advance so book early. I also recommend going in Spring or Fall when the weather is still warm and dry but there are slightly less crowds.

We stayed in site 65 on the marina and beach loop. I definitely recommend this area over the west loop.

    Riverbend RV Park

Short & Long Term Stay Options, Great For Larger Rigs But With Tent Spaces

Washington Rolling down the road on the Cascade Loop I took in all the scenery and enjoyed every moment. But something I noticed along the way was that cell signal was minimal and with that it made it a bit harder to find locations to stop for the night. Typically I enjoy a more remote site or a good forest camp, however along the loop, though there are many forest service roads, most certainly with camping available, being so remote without cell signal and roads looking more questionable in some areas, I feared going to far off the beaten path into the unknown in my small car.

This brought me to the Riverbend RV Park, a Good Sam park along the loop which actually allocates some of their spaces to tent campers. Privately owned the features were a bit more expansive than many of the sites I had visited along the way including running water and full hook ups for those in RVs. Additionally they had a propane refill station which was quite nice for a small charge without having to wander into town to find supplies.

The layout of the location was nice as it formed a large loop easy to access even by the largest of rigs. The office welcomed you as your drove in and made it easy to stop, pay for your site and find out all the information you needed to know not only about the campsite but also the surrounding area. A few brochures inside noted area attractions and information about the loop itself. This office also housed a small general store which had a few items you might need while at camp and some general items which could be nice in way of snack and food. Nothing large, but certainly helpful for those who were weary from the road and all the traveling excitement.

This park welcomes families but also their pets, with a large pet area for them to run free and enjoy stretching their legs. Otherwise throughout camp they do ask you keep your pets on a leash, which seemed more than fair considering the large space they were given to enjoy free of burden.

The kiddos were also welcome with their own play area that was well maintained and away from the other campers just enough to not disrupt the silence of the camp. This area had its own water fountain to assure hours of safe and hydrated play.

The sites themselves were typical of an RV park, a standard picnic table and enough room to move around a little but still somewhat closer to your neighbors than you would be at many forest campsites. I found that the camping area I checked out for myself had a little more distance between the sites which was nice but there was no tree coverage so it is a bit of a trade off for space or shade.

On premise is an activity room and also a restroom area. Restrooms offer showers and warmth on the cold days and night and the activity room is a large room with plenty of space to enjoy a game night or some time watching television in a more social setting. There is also a laundry facility at this building which was super helpful for catching up along the loop after several weeks of travel.

All in all though this was privately run and thus a bit more expensive, around $30 a night, the benefits of the stay at this location were vast. Though it wasn’t my style of camping for every night a stop here was a nice way to check out some of the many amenities which contrast some of the other camps along the way. Definitely worth a stop if you are in an RV or if you want to have a place with a lot of benefits.

    TIPS:

    • If you are a larger unit this is a great place to stay for amenities and size of spaces you will easily be able to pull in and get comfortable with your slides at this location.

    • Location of this campsite is key as it is close to town but also along the loop within driving distance of the North Cascades Park and also some of the Washington State Parks.   If you can detach and use this as a home base it will work well with your travels.

    Pateros City Park

    Barely a Campground

It just has picnic benches on gravel patches and a small field before the lake. No swimming allowed on this part of the lake. No shade. Free for peddlers and paddlers so I stayed for free. Has some rv hookups too. Hard to find as there's no signs showing the way. Just go to the park by the lake and then go north along the lake and you'll get to it. Only reason it has 2 stars is cause it had a shower and I didn't have to pay.

    Great for Family with kids

Looking for a mini resort with activities for kids? This might fit the bill. We met our daughter and our Grandkids for a four day trip I. Our RV’s. Personally l, not I or my daughter would normally stay at an RV Park. We prefer disbursed or boondocking. This review takes that into account.

All of the full hookups were close together, not private and crowded. We elected for the Water 110 electric hook up. The site was dusty, and the spaces somewhat spread apart. No real privacy. For the kids the pool, lake, miniature golf, game room etc. was fun. The campground is about 30 minutes from Levenworth. The girls all wen shopping in town and had a great time. It’s a nice Barivian village. My grandson and I found a forest road and went wheeling. We had a great time.

    Alta Lake State Park Campground

    Lake views and clean restrooms

We camped here in early October on Friday night. Only the lower loop was available. Our site was a standard one with no hookups. It cost $25 in the off season. There is a trail to the beach but not much of interest. There is a day use area if you want to swim or launch a boat.

We camped here because my grandparents used to camp and fish here.

It was quiet even though there were some private homes nearby

There were full hook up sites for the larger RVs so we didn’t have the sound of generators to bother us.

    Great Park!

I usually HATE RV resorts due to the fact that many people do not honor quiet hours, the sites are too small, and the grounds are unkept. This was not the case for Smokiam. The sites are a great size and COVID precautions were greatly taken (temp checks every day). The employees also walk the sites frequently. Downside - the lake by the resort is very muddy so we had to go elsewhere to swim (but there are plenty of local spots). Also, internet and cell service was poor. However, I absolutely loved staying here and plan to come back next year!

    Great Visit

If you are staying in one of the RV sites it has water and power hook ups. Our stay was great, the only unpleasant part of the trip was the automatic sprinkler system coming on Monday-Friday for 30 minutes at each site. We had to almost pack everything up into the trailer each day and then pull it all back out if you did not want to get completely wet. On the plus side it makes the grass really nice and you can walk around barefoot most of the time. Also plan on it being windy during your stay as you are on the river and it is unavoidable. If you are tent camping and do not get one of the RV spots then it is almost a 1/2 mile hike out to the peninsula for your camp site. They do provide carts, but I would plan on bringing a wagon of your own for the many trips back and forth. Overall it is a great park with lots of activities and really wide open RV spaces with plenty of room. Would definitely go back!!

    Close to great hikes

Hiking in the Leavenworth area is amazing! Colchuck Lake is incredible, and I would highly recommend doing this one. This RV Park was great. My family brought our RV and we stayed here for 3 nights. We decided to stay here instead of a tent site because we wanted more room for everyone, a place to cook and fridge...so we brought our RV. We hiked Colchuck in the morning, and had lunch at the lake. It was perfect. The RV Park was good, but super busy. We went during the summer so we expected it to be busy. We went online and reserved a spot so I’d recommend them too. We stopped by the grocery store in Leavenworth to get some food and snacks for the weekend. There is also a great hamburger place in Leavenworth that we love to go too!!

    Water fill up

You have to purchase a day pass just to fill up some water if you’re passing through. Was the only place with water in Leavenworth during December. Supply and demand! Seems like a nice RV park to stay the night though. Wish they would charge less just for a water fill up. More around $5.

Great Location, not a great park.

We visited in late June of 2024. Crescent Bar is a nice little community and the PUD park is beautiful. T.T. RV park was not in great shape. Sprinklers were busted in most of the park which created unpleasant dust storms. There are porta potties for the pool area and down the hill at the bathroom/shower you will find rotting interior walls and valves held together with copious layers of silicone. Fortunately for us this was just a stop over location while crossing Washington.

    When winter hookups are needed......

I am surprised to find how often we camp in the snowy winter months, empty campgrounds are a plus this time of year! Come summer you won't be able to get a reservation in this park, but in January it was wide open! We have stayed here for many years to enjoy the Chelan WinterFest Festival in January. The park is within walking distance of town and is perfect for the festival weekend. You may notice the pictures are of different trucks and campers as we have visited this park throughout the years! We have only stayed in this park once in the summer months, and that was for a skydiving visit. Good basic RV park style camping.

Granted we are here off season but the swimming pool, hot tub and clubhouse are immaculate. If you’re tent camping, no worry - bathrooms have showers and are extremely clean. Mostly great

Beautiful location on river. Traffic noise but did not bother us at all. Would be tight when camp is full but it was not while we were there. Host did great job of spacing rvs throughout camp for optimal privacy. Male host a bit militant about dogs off leash (including in your site). Laundry facilities very dusty/dirty. One dryer (middle one) did not fry clothes well even though ran it twice. Good sized dog run and a lot of games for guest use. We had fun using corn hole game. Really decent price for full hookups and site was pretty level.

    Smokiam RV Resort

    Glamping glory

I really like this place, but a lot of it depends on which level site you want to spring for. I’ll start with the cons: camp sites are pretty close together. Tents sites are real close RV sites are so close that or picnic table was only 6 ft from the sewer connect for the next site. No grass at the mid level trailer hook ups, either. Also the dock was down (I blame COVID), but I can’t hold it against them. Fire pits at each site. Tons of amenities: Pool and hot tub (also COVIDized) shuffle board basketball court, Kids play structure, mini golf board and boat rentals, a store... The lake is great, though, once you get past the first 6 feet of muck. It’s warm, shallow, but appropriately named. The water tastes soap and has a film, but that’s the “healing” part, right? The premium RV sites are great. Bigger, some grassy areas, at least one even has a hot tub. There are also teepees and cabins. It’s a cool little space.
