Description

Thousand Trails

Styled after a charming Bavarian village, Leavenworth lies at the foot of Washington’s eastern Cascade Range, and is backed by the sparkling granite peaks of the stunning Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Prior to its European facelift in the 1960s, Leavenworth was a rough and tumble logging town along the Great Northern Railway. Today, Leavenworth is a popular year-round destination for tourists and outdoor adventurers. Besides the many quaint shops, galleries, ice cream and candy parlors, brew houses, and bistros, the town hosts several fun events, including arts and crafts shows, classic car shows, beer and music festivals, Oktoberfest, and the Christmas Lighting Festival. For outdoor enthusiasts, there are abundant opportunities to hit the local trails and rivers for hiking, climbing, fishing and paddling. Located about 30 minutes north of Leavenworth, and just 10 minutes east of Lake Wenatchee, Leavenworth RV Campground makes a perfect basecamp for exploring the area, or just kicking back in some stunning mountain country. Boasting nearly 300 mostly wooded campsites, there’s a place for every kind of camper, from full- and partial-hookup RV sites, to small vehicle and tent sites. There’s also a selection of cabins, cottages, lodge rooms and tiny houses available. Restrooms and shower facilities are located in several of the camp areas, as well as a laundry room and dump station. Many sites and facilities are ADA accessible. Additional amenities include satellite TV, Wifi service, a clubhouse, library, game room, and store. Dogs are permitted. Campsites rates are $38–$52/night; other accommodations range from $147–$176/night; reservations recommended. You don’t have to travel far from the campground to enjoy an abundance of outdoor recreation. The resort features a large pool, sports courts—including mini golf, cornhole, and pickleball—and several walking, hiking and biking trails. Lounge beside one of the large ponds, or paddle around on a kayak or SUP. For summer hiking, pick up a trail map and head for the nearby Alpine Lakes Wilderness, where 100s of miles of trails climb high into a spectacular landscape of vivid lakes, flowering meadows, and towering peaks. Fishing and boating are available at nearby Lake Wenatchee, or try shooting the rapids on the Icicle and Wenatchee Rivers on a guided rafting trip. There’s plenty of winter outdoor fun as well, including local snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, downhill skiing and snowboarding at Stevens Pass, and sleigh rides around Leavenworth.

Wonderful

There aren’t that many hookups so if you’re looking for full service make sure you do your research. Excellent RV resort. Might want to go alternate route and not Chumstick

Great for Family with kids

Looking for a mini resort with activities for kids? This might fit the bill. We met our daughter and our Grandkids for a four day trip I. Our RV’s. Personally l, not I or my daughter would normally stay at an RV Park. We prefer disbursed or boondocking. This review takes that into account.

All of the full hookups were close together, not private and crowded. We elected for the Water 110 electric hook up. The site was dusty, and the spaces somewhat spread apart. No real privacy. For the kids the pool, lake, miniature golf, game room etc. was fun. The campground is about 30 minutes from Levenworth. The girls all wen shopping in town and had a great time. It’s a nice Barivian village. My grandson and I found a forest road and went wheeling. We had a great time.

Decently Spaced

The campground for being Thousand Trails was pleasant. We were able to find a spot easily enough. Our issue was finding availability for us and our daughter arriving the next day. The full hookup sites are close together and not great IMHO. We settled for the spore in the Lakeview area. This area of the campground will accommodate up to 22’ RV’s. Water and 110 electric. Quite dusty but it worked. The lake is nice, the trails around the grounds are fun. For the grandkids there is a lot to do and that was the draw for us this time. We prefer disbursed off grid most of the time to this type of campground.

Alpine camping in Washington State

Nestled in the mountains with a German Bavarian feel this is a wonderful, peaceful, and wooded campground.

Fishing abounds, winter sports are nearby and the town of Leavenworth is an awesome place to visit anytime of the year.

Nasty and extremely expensive...AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

My husband and I recently stayed here and we paid ~$200 for three days. Very expensive. But I figured it would be nice. NOT. We stayed on the camp at the other side of the lake. One facility building was completely closed. So they had Porta Potties. So, I was like not a problem. But it seemed they had not even tried to fix the bathroom despite the vandalism because the potties were there for days and had not been cleaned out. They need to be cleaned out at least twice a week and especially in hot weather. Otherwise you end up with poo stew. Not a pleasant smell. The other facility were open on the women’s side. For the men they only had the showers working. So again porta potties were put right beside the building. You would think that for the amount of money we paid this place would be run properly. If you can just avoid this nasty place. If you can’t...then bring your own shower and toilet.

Close to great hikes

Hiking in the Leavenworth area is amazing! Colchuck Lake is incredible, and I would highly recommend doing this one. This RV Park was great. My family brought our RV and we stayed here for 3 nights. We decided to stay here instead of a tent site because we wanted more room for everyone, a place to cook and fridge...so we brought our RV. We hiked Colchuck in the morning, and had lunch at the lake. It was perfect. The RV Park was good, but super busy. We went during the summer so we expected it to be busy. We went online and reserved a spot so I’d recommend them too. We stopped by the grocery store in Leavenworth to get some food and snacks for the weekend. There is also a great hamburger place in Leavenworth that we love to go too!!

Great campsite with lots of options!

We stayed in a tiny house at this campsite, and had a great time exploring the local area. The campground also offers plenty of RV and tent sites. There are quite a few amenities as well including a pool and WiFi.

About 30 minutes from Leavenworth, this campground is a great launchpad for some unforgettable adventures. We look forward to coming back to explore even more!

Icicle creek

This campground was mainly for large luxury RV’s - all pushed together on huge concrete pads. There are about 10 spots on the river that are somewhat rustic- private and have full hookups. The views were gorgeous. Leavenworth is a little over 2 miles away.
