Refrigeration is available in select cabins but not universally provided. Bear Lake/Trail Side KOA Journey supplies firewood for purchase and maintains an on-site market for basic supplies. Willard Bay State Park cabins remain accessible from early April through late September. Riverdale Resort (now Bear River Hot Springs) offers cabin accommodations year-round but reviews indicate facilities need maintenance and updating.

Great place to stay in the winter

Cold winter months and you need to get away? Wow we rented a cabin three times this last winter. Great little cabins with bathrooms the hot pools were 100 feet away and a heated swimming pool. In the summer time the pool is nice and cold and there are water slides. There is RV and tent sites as well as group sites and 3 small cabins, 3 medium cabins and three large cabins/houses. They also have several yurts. This year they also have covered wagons you can stay in(cute idea on a tent cabin). The staff is friendly and courteous. There is a small cafe and store. There is a restaurant that has a great sirloin dinner if you call ahead to make dinner reservations. Over all a great place to camp summer or winter.

    Conestoga Ranch

    Total Glamping experience

Conestoga Ranch is a destination that gives luxury a down home feel.

Located in Garden City, Utah on the beautiful Bear Lake Conestoga Ranch offers luxury tents and a chance to stay in a covered wagon.

I stayed in a larger, more luxurious site because my wife and I were on our Anniversary weekend.

The tent had a king bed, shower, and deep claw foot tub. The decor is charmingly rustic with log furnishings and tin and raw pipe for plumbing and accessories, this is all intentional and makes the experience even better.

Onsite, there are clean shower rooms and rest rooms, laundry facilities, an arcade, and a very fine restaurant and lounge.

Upon check in, you park by the office and a attendant takes you and your gear up to your site, later on a fire concierge will come and start your fire as you relax and take in all the beauty around you.

Bear Lake offers so much opportunity for recreation, from boating, to side x side rentals to beaches, mountain biking and some shopping.

This luxury comes at a price...a pretty steep price for camping, rates vary, but staying before memorial day gave us the better rate.

I do think that the price is worth the wonderful experiences that we had at this fun little place.

    Have a great time.

    Sun Outdoors Garden City Utah

    On the beach!

This campground seems like it is one of the closer campgrounds to the water. It's pet-friendly, has full hookups, picnic tables, and wifi. The nice thing about this campground is it does have a beach as well as water/lake access. Not as many amenities as the KOA (Bear Lake/Marina Side).

The bathhouse was very clean. Did seem less busy than the KOA (Bear Lake/Marina Side).

    Blacksmith Fork Guard Station

    Everything you need is there!

We have stayed at this campsite for a few years in a row and plan to keep coming back. The guard station comes fully equipped with cooking utensils and dishes and cleaning supplies. It also includes a propane refrigerator and stove. There are plenty of hiking and biking trails nearby. It does get busy, and you do hear the ATVs going up and down the road all day. There is also a river/stream that runs behind the cabin that is great for fishing. The cabin itself is clean and well maintained. Its the perfect mix of outdoors (no running water, no wi-fi) with some comforts with the stove and beds in the cabin. Great for families who want a little less remote camping experience.

    2nd Cabin Only Bigger

We had returned but had got a cabin with a loft. There are only 3 loft cabins. They are super cozy, and come with a full kitchen. The loft above had 2 twin beds, the main floor had a full size bed, futon, closet, full kitchen and a bathroom with both shower and tub. Close walking distance to the hot pools and restaurant. The 3 of us were comfortable and not felt like we were in a tiny space.

    Hyrum State Park Campground

    Small peaceful state park

We love state parks and decided to try Hyrum Stare Park for a couple of nights as we were heading south. This state park is basically in the middle of a neighborhood of a small community. Locals seem to love it but it’s not crowded at all.. It’s right on a small lake with a boat ramp and a small beach. The campground is small… about 8 or 9 sites with w/e and about a dozen sites with dry camping. All the sites are paved (even the dry camping sites) and level. Grassy and shady on most sites. Two bathhouses and a dump on site. Picnic tables and fire rings at each site. They also have a couple of cabins available. No store but there is a few things close by to get ice and a few things. It is totally fenced and gated. The gates close at 10pm and open at 6am. Very peaceful and enjoyable!

    Egan Basin Guard Station

    Peaceful, Remote and Beautiful

For $30 a night this camping site is a real deal! The site is well maintained, and the A-frame cabin on the site was perfect for our family of 5. The cabin and campsite has no electricity and no water, so you need to pack it all in. Its nice to have a chance to get away from technology and enjoy the outdoors. It is about an hour + to get somewhere where you can get water or other supplies, so you will need to plan accordingly.

Pros: remote, peaceful, quiet. Some nice trails nearby for hiking and mountain biking and ATVs. Also there is a stream that runs along the road to the cabin that is available for fishing. Also, although there are other campsites along the road to the guard station, once at the cabin (about 1/4 off the main forest road), you don't even know there are other people around.

Cons: When we were there LOTS of mosquitos, the forest service road to the guard station gate is a little rough in some places. For those without AWD or 4WD might have a hard time in places.

Cottonwood Campground — Willard Bay State Park

    State campground close to highway

Two loops that we saw, the first has no hook ups and the second has power and water at each site. There’s a little paved slab with a picnic table and covering, each site has a fire pit and charcoal grill. $30 for no hook ups $40 for hookups, got in around 8pm and no $30 sites left. There are toilets and showers for each loop. Really close to the highway so be prepared for that noise, and there’s a train that goes by every so often.

    North Fork County Park

    Nice, spacious, and secluded

Enough trees to keep your site private, able to fit a 30' trailer in over 75% of their spots, and holy cow the number of spots they have, this place is the size of 4 good sized camp grounds combined. Fire pits and picnic tables included, but that's all that's included so pack your generator and fill your water.... 5 stars it's exactly the get away we were looking for.

Guide to Smithfield

Cabin camping options near Smithfield, Utah typically operate from April through October, with limited year-round facilities available. Most cabins in this region sit at elevations between 4,500-7,000 feet, creating significant temperature variations between day and night. Weather in Cache Valley can change quickly, requiring campers to pack layers even during summer months.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Hyrum State Park offers lakeside fishing with easy access from cabin sites. "The campground is also a day use area for boats so there is beach access which is great," notes Sandra W., adding that facilities are "nice and well maintained."

Hot springs relaxation: While facilities need upgrading, Bear River Hot Springs (formerly Riverdale Resort) provides cabin lodging with on-site hot springs. "Had a amazing time at bear river hot springs... the pools have been updated," reports Taylor P., though other reviews suggest varied maintenance standards.

Mountain biking trails: North Fork County Park cabins connect to extensive trail networks. "Had a great stay at North Fork. Camped in the canyon near the trailheaad for the waterfall hike... Excellent mountain bike trails also," shares Rich J. The park maintains several cabin options near trail access points.

What campers like

Privacy levels: Cabins at Brigham City-Perry South KOA provide more seclusion than other properties. "Location at the foot of the mountain provides amazing views and panoramic vistas. The staff is amazing and polite and helpful," explains Robert S., noting the well-maintained camp conditions.

Waterfront access: Hyrum State Park Campground cabins sit near both lake and beach areas. "It's right on a small lake with a boat ramp and a small beach. The campground is small... about 8 or 9 sites with w/e and about a dozen sites with dry camping. They also have a couple of cabins available," explains Brenda L.

Family amenities: KOA properties provide cabin options with additional recreational facilities. "Tons to do for the kids. Pancake breakfast was a nice plus for breakfast. Restaurants are close. Marina was close. Lots of activities for all ages," reports Shane C. about the Bear Lake/Marina Side KOA Holiday.

What you should know

Seasonal restrictions: Most cabin facilities near Smithfield have limited operating seasons. Willard Bay State Park's Cottonwood Campground cabins operate "early apr-late sep" according to park information, with full amenities only during peak season.

Facility maintenance varies: Quality control differs significantly between properties. "Cabins are new with TV (local channels only), microwave and refrigerator," notes Megan E. about Bear Lake/Trail Side KOA Journey, while other cabin properties receive lower ratings for cleanliness and upkeep.

Noise considerations: Highway proximity affects several cabin locations. At Cottonwood Campground, "I-15 noise was horrible, no sleep even with a fan going and earplugs," reports Laura K., while Nathan D. notes, "There is a road that runs on the north side of the ground that can be loud from passing traffic, otherwise quiet."

Tips for camping with families

Security features: Hyrum's gated environment provides safety but requires planning. "The entire place is totally fenced and gated. The gates close at 10pm and open at 6am," explains Brenda L. Another camper adds, "The only thing that was annoying is that they lock the front gate at 10PM so if you are out after that time, you have to park your car on the street and walk to your campsite."

Kid-friendly activities: Cub River Lodge & RV Park provides cabin options with space for children. "Great spot to unwind. Lots of space for people," notes Becky J. The area offers limited river access but maintains cabin amenities that work well for families.

Budget considerations: Cabin prices vary significantly by location and amenities. "For $30 a night this camping site is a real deal! The site is well maintained, and the A-frame cabin on the site was perfect for our family of 5," shares Madeline G. about Egan Basin Guard Station, though this requires more self-sufficiency.

Tips from RVers

Site spacing: When selecting cabins near RV areas, spacing matters significantly. At some locations, "Sites are pretty dang close. This is a perfect place to go with family, because you basically share a site with the person next to you," explains David T. about Bear Lake Trail Side KOA.

Utility connections: Not all cabins include full utilities. "Blacksmith Fork Guard Station in Logan offers a rustic cabin with propane refrigerator and stove, cooking utensils, dishes, and cleaning supplies," according to local information, while other sites provide standard electrical outlets but may lack water hookups.

Late arrival protocols: Plan around check-in times and after-hours procedures. "Nice and helpful staff when booking late in the day. After hours pick up was easy and site was clean," shares Jamie E. about Brigham City-Perry South KOA, which provides structured late arrival options.
