    Downata Hot Springs

Great place to stay in the winter

Cold winter months and you need to get away? Wow we rented a cabin three times this last winter. Great little cabins with bathrooms the hot pools were 100 feet away and a heated swimming pool. In the summer time the pool is nice and cold and there are water slides. There is RV and tent sites as well as group sites and 3 small cabins, 3 medium cabins and three large cabins/houses. They also have several yurts. This year they also have covered wagons you can stay in(cute idea on a tent cabin). The staff is friendly and courteous. There is a small cafe and store. There is a restaurant that has a great sirloin dinner if you call ahead to make dinner reservations. Over all a great place to camp summer or winter.

    Conestoga Ranch

    Total Glamping experience

Conestoga Ranch is a destination that gives luxury a down home feel.

Located in Garden City, Utah on the beautiful Bear Lake Conestoga Ranch offers luxury tents and a chance to stay in a covered wagon.

I stayed in a larger, more luxurious site because my wife and I were on our Anniversary weekend.

The tent had a king bed, shower, and deep claw foot tub. The decor is charmingly rustic with log furnishings and tin and raw pipe for plumbing and accessories, this is all intentional and makes the experience even better.

Onsite, there are clean shower rooms and rest rooms, laundry facilities, an arcade, and a very fine restaurant and lounge.

Upon check in, you park by the office and a attendant takes you and your gear up to your site, later on a fire concierge will come and start your fire as you relax and take in all the beauty around you.

Bear Lake offers so much opportunity for recreation, from boating, to side x side rentals to beaches, mountain biking and some shopping.

This luxury comes at a price...a pretty steep price for camping, rates vary, but staying before memorial day gave us the better rate.

I do think that the price is worth the wonderful experiences that we had at this fun little place.

    Have a great time.

    On the beach!

This campground seems like it is one of the closer campgrounds to the water. It's pet-friendly, has full hookups, picnic tables, and wifi. The nice thing about this campground is it does have a beach as well as water/lake access. Not as many amenities as the KOA (Bear Lake/Marina Side).

The bathhouse was very clean. Did seem less busy than the KOA (Bear Lake/Marina Side).

    Blacksmith Fork Guard Station

    Everything you need is there!

We have stayed at this campsite for a few years in a row and plan to keep coming back. The guard station comes fully equipped with cooking utensils and dishes and cleaning supplies. It also includes a propane refrigerator and stove. There are plenty of hiking and biking trails nearby. It does get busy, and you do hear the ATVs going up and down the road all day. There is also a river/stream that runs behind the cabin that is great for fishing. The cabin itself is clean and well maintained. Its the perfect mix of outdoors (no running water, no wi-fi) with some comforts with the stove and beds in the cabin. Great for families who want a little less remote camping experience.

    2nd Cabin Only Bigger

We had returned but had got a cabin with a loft. There are only 3 loft cabins. They are super cozy, and come with a full kitchen. The loft above had 2 twin beds, the main floor had a full size bed, futon, closet, full kitchen and a bathroom with both shower and tub. Close walking distance to the hot pools and restaurant. The 3 of us were comfortable and not felt like we were in a tiny space.

    Hyrum State Park Campground

    Small peaceful state park

We love state parks and decided to try Hyrum Stare Park for a couple of nights as we were heading south. This state park is basically in the middle of a neighborhood of a small community. Locals seem to love it but it’s not crowded at all.. It’s right on a small lake with a boat ramp and a small beach. The campground is small… about 8 or 9 sites with w/e and about a dozen sites with dry camping. All the sites are paved (even the dry camping sites) and level. Grassy and shady on most sites. Two bathhouses and a dump on site. Picnic tables and fire rings at each site. They also have a couple of cabins available. No store but there is a few things close by to get ice and a few things. It is totally fenced and gated. The gates close at 10pm and open at 6am. Very peaceful and enjoyable!

    Egan Basin Guard Station

    Peaceful, Remote and Beautiful

For $30 a night this camping site is a real deal! The site is well maintained, and the A-frame cabin on the site was perfect for our family of 5. The cabin and campsite has no electricity and no water, so you need to pack it all in. Its nice to have a chance to get away from technology and enjoy the outdoors. It is about an hour + to get somewhere where you can get water or other supplies, so you will need to plan accordingly.

Pros: remote, peaceful, quiet. Some nice trails nearby for hiking and mountain biking and ATVs. Also there is a stream that runs along the road to the cabin that is available for fishing. Also, although there are other campsites along the road to the guard station, once at the cabin (about 1/4 off the main forest road), you don't even know there are other people around.

Cons: When we were there LOTS of mosquitos, the forest service road to the guard station gate is a little rough in some places. For those without AWD or 4WD might have a hard time in places.

Cottonwood Campground — Willard Bay State Park

    State campground close to highway

Two loops that we saw, the first has no hook ups and the second has power and water at each site. There’s a little paved slab with a picnic table and covering, each site has a fire pit and charcoal grill. $30 for no hook ups $40 for hookups, got in around 8pm and no $30 sites left. There are toilets and showers for each loop. Really close to the highway so be prepared for that noise, and there’s a train that goes by every so often.

    North Fork County Park

    Nice, spacious, and secluded

Enough trees to keep your site private, able to fit a 30' trailer in over 75% of their spots, and holy cow the number of spots they have, this place is the size of 4 good sized camp grounds combined. Fire pits and picnic tables included, but that's all that's included so pack your generator and fill your water.... 5 stars it's exactly the get away we were looking for.

Guide to North Logan

Cabins near North Logan, Utah range from rustic forest service structures to modern rentals with private amenities. Located in Cache Valley at approximately 4,800 feet elevation, this area experiences four distinct seasons with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. Several cabin options exist within a 30-60 minute drive from North Logan, offering diverse experiences from lakeside settings to mountain retreats.

What to do

Waterfront recreation: Hyrum State Park Campground offers beach access near cabin accommodations. "This is a great campground, the host is really nice, it's clean, has great bathrooms and a great view of the lake!" reports Rachel G. The park includes both day-use beach areas and boat ramps.

Hiking trails: North Fork County Park provides trail access directly from cabin areas. "Camped in the canyon near the trailhead for the waterfall hike. We stayed at campsite 6 which was great, but they were all really nice. Excellent mountain bike trails also," notes Rich J. The park features multiple trail difficulties suitable for various experience levels.

Seasonal activities: Cottonwood Campground — Willard Bay State Park offers year-round cabin options with seasonal water recreation. "Lots of birds, a nice nature trail, and this facility is on a fresh water lake and it was nice to take a swim. Walking around at dusk we saw deer and a large barn owl," writes Laura K. Winter visitors can access snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trails nearby.

What campers like

Private hot tubs: Bear Lake/Marina Side KOA Holiday features luxury cabin options with exclusive amenities. "We stayed in an RV supersite that included a private hot tub and BBQ grill," shares JJ V. These premium cabins typically require advance booking and cost more than standard cabins.

Spacious sites: Anderson Cove at Pineview Reservoir offers more distance between cabin rentals. "You need to reserve sites here well in advance as it fills up for the entire Summer as soon as the reservation window opens. We loved that we could bring the jet skis right over to the beach at the campground," explains Barb D. Many sites include vehicle parking adjacent to the cabin.

Central location: Brigham City-Perry South KOA provides cabins in a convenient travel corridor. "Location at the foot of the mountain provides amazing views and panoramic vistas. For a great dinner out try Maddox Ranch House (2.5 miles away) and skip the 60 min plus wait by asking the camp hosts for a VIP seating pass," recommends Robert S.

What you should know

Reservation timing: Most cabin rentals require advance planning, especially for summer stays. "We booked this campsite later into the season so we were lucky to get a spot," mentions Sandra W. about Hyrum State Park. Popular cabins may book 6-9 months in advance.

Cabin amenities: Electricity and running water vary significantly between cabin options. "Cabins are new with TV (local channels only), microwave and refrigerator," notes Megan E. about the Bear Lake/Trail Side KOA Journey cabins.

Environmental factors: Cub River Lodge & RV Park cabins provide mountain settings with connectivity limitations. "There is no cell service here but they do offer Wi-Fi. Not sure if it was due to the amount of people, but the wifi was useless as we couldn't even make a phone call," advises Brandon.

Tips for camping with families

Activity options: Bear Lake cabin rentals offer organized recreation for kids. "We love this campground! There are a variety of ways to camp here, tent, RV, cabins and the set up allows for privacy. There is an amazing playground for kids, swimming pool, and jumping pillow," explains JJ V.

Beach access: Sun Outdoors Garden City Utah cabins provide direct water access. "This campground seems like it is one of the closer campgrounds to the water. It's pet-friendly, has full hookups, picnic tables, and wifi. The nice thing about this campground is it does have a beach as well as water/lake access," reports GoWhereYouAreDraw N.

Noise considerations: Some cabin locations experience traffic sounds. "The gates close at 10pm and open at 6am. Very peaceful and enjoyable!" writes Brenda L. about Hyrum State Park, noting its controlled access prevents late-night disturbances.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: Several campgrounds offer both cabin and RV options with varying privacy levels. "They assign spots when u arrive without u looking at the spots. Then if u don't like the spot they give u a lot of trouble to change it," cautions Jess T. about Willard Bay State Park.

Weather preparedness: North Logan area experiences significant seasonal temperature changes. "The sites are well spaced apart giving plenty of privacy. We didn't have much shade in ours but they provide a ramada on a cement pad over the picnic table which was great," shares Erin A. about Cottonwood Campground.

Wildlife awareness: Cabin camping often brings encounters with local fauna. "Middle of the night a skunk visited our campsite and hung around for quite a while," reports Rod D. about Willard Bay. Proper food storage is essential at all cabin locations.
