    Goblin Valley State Park Campground

    Pretty spot, minimal services

The goblin Valley Campground is located within goblin Valley State Park in Utah. This is pretty much in the middle of nowhere between Hanksville and Green River on a 12 miles off detour off Highway 24. The park itself provides access to a rare and bizarre landscape of rock formation some assembling goblins mushrooms and other spires which is pretty unique to the area. The campground is nestled on the edge of some of these rock for atto a in a really scenic location. Covered picnic tables fire rings we’re also provided and a paved driveway and tent pads were also provided. No water, electric hook-ups. However, despite a fairly steep price for a standard non-electric site ( $30) minimal facilities were offered. The bathrooms and showers were closed for the season (it was late December) ang there was only access to a pit toilet near the yurts a little walk away from the campsites. There were flushing toilets a couple of miles away at the visitor center and a at the major view point over the valley of goblins. no cell reception on either Verizon or AT&T.

    Nine Mile Canyon Ranch

    Rustic and scenic

This is a nice campground to stay in if you want to explore the canyons.  The location is perfect for day trips into the canyons to search for petroglyphs and historic cabins.  The scenery is amazing.  The campsite had a real nice covered picnic table and a fire pit. There were no hookups but they say they have potable water you can use.  They also have firewood you can purchase but we brought our own.  We did not use the showers but they do have them available.  The bathrooms have flush toilets and running water and were very clean.  There are historic cabins you can rent or you can camp in your tent or RV.  We were there in April and it wasn't too busy so it was pretty quiet.  I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone who wants to explore the area.

    Nine Mile Canyon Ranch

    A Little bit of everything

The 9 mile Canyon Ranch has a little bit of everything. RV spots, tent camping, cabins. There are clean bathrooms and showers for $3. You can hammock in some spots. Best to call in ahead so they get you a best part with some of the trees.

Beautiful area. No service but there is Wi-Fi at the house. The lady there was SUPER nice and answered all my questions and was very willing to help and make sure I had a good stay.

I slept in my Bronco but my spot had a campfire and picnic table. Enjoyed my stay.

    Nine Mile Canyon Ranch

    Great Campground!

Nine Mile Ranch is a great campground outside of Wellington, UT and a good base camp to check out Nine Mile Canyon. They have historic cabins they have used for camping cabins, RV and tent sites. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. Super friendly and knowledgeable camp host. I would definitely stay again!

    Goblin Valley State Park Campground

    Other worldly scenery

Only 24 sites makes this one of the hardest campgrounds in Utah to book. If you’re lucky enough to get in then you are going to love Goblin Valley. All of the sites come equipped with a shade structure, picnic table & fire ring. Best sites are on the out side of the loop, with the cliffs right behind you. No hook ups, but the is potable water & dump station. Small visitor center/store offers a few essentials. Very hot & windy when we were there in June. Dark skies offer amazing star gazing. Clean bathrooms and free, private showers.

    Goblin Valley State Park Campground

    Camping on mars

This was a quick weekend trip and this place blew me away! The campsite (site 3) was nestled right by some rocks which blocked the morning sun (major plus). Some campsite parking spots, like ours, were like 20 yards away from the car, but some were right next to the site. Bathrooms are clean and there are clean showers too. Each site has a nice fire pit with grill and a metal canopy and large picnic table. Can hike around right off the campsite or go to the valley or drive to wild horse canyon. Firewood available at visitor center. Water was on boil advisory Aug 2020 so call and check bc its 30-45 min to the nearest city. No ice available.

    Nine Mile Canyon Ranch

Quiet, low key base to explore

We stayed in a campground spot with grass, fire pit and a kind of splintery picnic table. We had the area to ourselves. We were next to a  stream on the other side of a fence. Deer came to visit. Cottonwood trees all around, had not yet leafed out, but I imagine nice shade in summer. 2 very clean single stall restrooms with flush toilets and lavs a short walk away. The campground could use a bit of TLC, yet we loved our stay, because so peaceful. They also have cabins and pull through camping with shelters. Very nice person checking us in.

    Goblin Valley State Park Campground

    Yurt 1 Goblin Valley

3 nights in Yurt 1. Coolest yurt location of any we’ve stayed in previously. Beautiful canyon. Heater worked well. There are a couple electrical receptacles. BBQ works well. Fire pit and picnic table are great. The park office has ice and firewood. Everything was great about our stay, EXCEPT… mice. The yurt management should either let guests know this in advance, or set some traps and take care of the problem. Make sure and only store food in mice proof containers, otherwise they will infiltrate.

    Goblin Valley State Park Campground

Great if you want to be in the park

This is a typical desert campsite with nicely shaded picnic tables, running water, and showers. It is great if you want to see the goblins early or late. If you camp outside the park you might not be able to see the formations under the stars. Expect it to be hot and dusty. The camp is right up against the bluffs so the kids can be entertained, albeit they'll get dirty.

There are dry and dusty dispersed BLM camps nearby if you don't feel like you need to support preserving the unique geological features of the park with your fee dollars.

Guide to Castle Dale

Cabins near Castle Dale, Utah range from rustic to modern accommodations with varying amenities. The region sits at approximately 5,500 feet elevation in central Utah's Castle Country, characterized by red rock formations and dense pine forests at higher elevations. Summer temperatures typically reach 90°F during day and drop to 50°F at night, making cabin stays comfortable alternatives to tent camping.

What to do

ATV adventures on Skyline Drive: Access trails directly from Orange Olsen Campground cabins, which serve as excellent base camps for exploring the mountains. "The ATV trails are endless and right out the driveway is access to Skyline Drive AKA God's Country," noted one visitor to Orange Olsen Campground.

Fishing at nearby reservoirs: Multiple fishing spots within 5-15 miles of cabin accommodations provide opportunities for anglers. "Fishing is good at Joe's spring and fall. Summer time is better for swimming and wake boarding. The smaller lakes and ponds are better suited for summertime fishing," according to an Orange Olsen camper.

Mountain biking on local trails: Castle Gate RV Park serves as a gateway to regional mountain biking routes. "Stayed here a weekend to get in some mountain biking in nearby Price. Everything in the park is immaculate, and very well maintained," reports a visitor to Castle Gate RV Park.

Golf at adjacent courses: Some cabin accommodations provide direct access to local golf courses. "This state park also has a full fledged, beautiful golf course! We just stayed one night passing through but it's definitely the kind of spot we'd love to stay for a weekend," writes a visitor to Green River State Park Campground.

What campers like

River access for relaxation: Several cabin properties back up to rivers, creating peaceful settings. "We backed up to the river, and our lot was very spacious," noted a Castle Gate RV Park guest. Another mentioned, "We took our chairs down to the river bank each evening. So tranquil and relaxing!"

Well-maintained facilities: Cabins at Buckhorn RV Park and Resort receive high marks for cleanliness and upkeep. "They offer spacious pull-through RV spots, luxury cabins and Tipis(Teepees), as well as tent sites and a group area for rent. There are bathrooms, showers, and a laundry facility on site," according to a recent reviewer.

Proximity to historic areas: Castle Gate RV Park's location near Helper provides access to historic sites. "Downtown Helper is just a short walk away. Cute little area that looks like there is quite a bit of restoration/renovation underway," noted one visitor.

Private bathroom amenities: Many cabin accommodations feature private restroom facilities. "The private restrooms are better than home! A nice big shower, toilet and sink, a chair, hooks and nicely lit," described a visitor about Castle Gate RV Park.

What you should know

Reservation requirements: Most cabin accommodations require advance booking, especially during peak summer months (June-August). Sites at popular locations like Palisade State Park Campground fill quickly. "This is a great place to go kayaking (no power boats allowed). There are great atv trails nearby. There is a great golf course right next to the lake/campground... So many great reasons to come here if you are lucky enough to get a reservation," noted a visitor.

Train noise considerations: Some cabin accommodations experience railway noise due to proximity to train tracks. "There is a set of train tracks nearby so that may matter if you're a light sleeper. I didn't wake up to any trains so they may not go through at night," reported a Castle Gate RV Park guest.

Seasonal temperature fluctuations: Cabins provide shelter from temperature extremes that can occur throughout the year. "In April, still a bit chilling in the evening/morning. Warmed up nicely in the afternoon," mentioned a Castle Gate visitor.

Pet restrictions vary significantly: Some cabins welcome pets while others strictly prohibit them. At Heritage Grove Campground, pets are not allowed, while Buckhorn RV Park and Resort accommodates pets in designated cabins.

Tips for camping with families

Splash zones for kids: Some cabin locations feature water play areas for children. "There is a splash area for the kids to beat the heat and a place to play horseshoe," noted a visitor to Castle Gate RV Park.

Group accommodations: Heritage Grove Campground offers family-friendly amenities beyond basic cabins. "Had very clean restrooms and showers. Lots of amenities like a playground and volleyball net," noted a recent visitor.

Family recreation options: Palisade State Park provides diverse activities for all ages. "We've been coming here for several years now, and it hasn't disappointed! It is a simple yet adventurous place to hang out and stay a few nights at! We really love the lake and all the little trails we could mountain bike on! Good place for families or big groups to come to!"

Lake activities for children: Some cabin locations offer lake access with rentals available. "They also rent paddle boats and canoes if wanted. Have a sandy little beach as well," observed a Palisade State Park visitor.

Tips from RVers

Connectivity considerations: Technology access varies between cabin locations. "Connectivity is great here on all carriers," reported a visitor to Castle Gate RV Park.

Water pressure variations: Cabin plumbing systems differ significantly between properties. "Their water pressure is outstanding in fact they recommend a pressure regulator on the supply line," noted one RVer at Castle Gate.

Seasonal site preparation: Some cabin properties maintain grounds differently throughout the year. "Not as pretty as in the summer as all the trees are bare and the grass is brown," observed a visitor to Manti - La Sal KOA about early spring conditions.

Full hookup availability: For RV cabins, utility connections vary by location. "We stayed there summer of 2021 under the old owner. We have just made reservations to stay there again in May 2022. It was a great stay. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because some of the sites aren't level and are pretty close to each other," noted a visitor to Manti - La Sal KOA.
