In the woods.
Lots of shade. Site 45 did have access for solar to catch some rays part of the day. Very quiet. Trails and fishing nearby.
River access
Easy river access with canoe racks. Rustic and simple sites. Well maintained pit toilets. Each site equipped with picnic table, fire pit, and bench. The campground does not appear to be frequently monitored. We noticed several sites were well over capacity, and occupied sites without reservation notes on the site poles. Overall, it was quiet during quiet hours, clean, and campers had high utilization of the river access.
Rustic and away from the main highway
This is a bit out of the way but it’s a nice, small rustic campground. The sites are medium size but give you privacy from others. A vault toilet and water pump are centrally located. Recycling and garbage bins are near the exit.
Follow the .9 mile trail along the river or drive over to Lake Superior. We went over to Orienta falls. It’s on google maps but we didn’t see signs on the road. It’s a short hike to a spot with local history. And old power company built the dam.
This is a nice spot in the Brule state forest.
