Ike Kinswa State Park Campground

Beautiful and clean campgrounds! Everyone was very respectful and the nights are very nice and quiet. No loud music was heard during our stay! Just real traditional camping. Very clean bathrooms that were cleaned twice a day! There are three facilities to buy firewood if needed around the campgrounds, and lake access was very close by!

Sites were large enough and far enough apart to maintain some privacy. Water was still on at the site in late November. There is an RV clean out near the entrance.

Large sites that are pretty private. Lots of shade and trees. The bathrooms work well and were clean. Our site had a beautiful water view, but there was a trail that went by right next to the site limiting privacy.

This campground is extremely well run and organized. The entire campground and park are absolutely beautiful. The sites are large, shaded and quiet. Many are pull through. If you want a water view you will find full hook up does inn loop A, or no hook up sites on loop C. T-Mobile access was ok, not great. Showers were free and very warm. The campground has numerous cabins for rent many with water views . The natural flora and fauna in late May/early June are amazing. There is not much beach access from the campground that we saw, but there’s a lovely beach area with boat landing and playground in a separate part of the park.

We chose Ike Kinswa for the first camping trip together with our 3 year old grand twins and their parents because we had a brief visit there in 2021 and were impressed by their campsites. They have wonderful sites for RVs and tents - large but somewhat private. Plenty of leg room for restless 3 year olds. Bathrooms are convenient. Our sites had views of the lake and access to an lake trail. Staff was responsive to any questions. The Ranger even noticed our kids had left early and got us a refund for one night . This was processed already to our credit card a couple of days after he offered it. Lake Mayfield, where it is located, is beautiful for kayaking, fishing, swimming in approved areas, canoeing, as well as water skiing. During our visit there weekend off the 4th of July there was not an over abundance of motorized boats, though. You can just put up your hammock and enjoy!

I always stay in cabins at Ike Kinswa and more than once gear I left outside of the cabin was urine sprayed by a cat. Gear had to be thrown away as that smell does not come out. I asked the campground staff and they confirmed there is/are wild cats living in the park that spray mark their territory in the campground. Was my favorite WA state park but I won't be back.

One of my favorite campgrounds in Washington! Lots of camping spots right on Lake Mayfield with tons of trails in and around the campground. Private swimming areas are awesome for paddle boarding and kayaking. Also has its own boat launch which is great during the summer. Really quiet in the spring and fall which is my favorite time to go. Make sure to take one of the hikes north from the campground along the Tilton river, it's beautiful.

This out-of-the-way park is a real treat. Great amenities for a public park

We had a great spot by big open space. Pull through but spaces pretty close together. Kids fished. Trails down to water.

Let me start off by saying - if there are so many campsites in Washington, why would you want to stay at the same place multiple times???

Ike Kinswa is the place I would stay at repeatedly. Between the incredibly helpful and friendly staff, to the private tent sites, to the water access, we’ve already stayed twice this summer!! So incredibly impressed with this gem!

Always a great place to stay, about to head there again in September. Kayaking, hiking, lots of exploring around the area. Kids love it too!

This is a nice campground a ways off of I-5. Its right on a lake, and is right between Mt St Helens and Mt Rainier. It’s also right between Portland and Seattle.

I had good cell service here. The bathrooms were nice enough with token showers. There’s lots of cabins too. The spots were semi private and spacious. I saw rangers driving around frequently, but there was no host when I was here. There was also a steady flow of people walking around enjoying the park. There’s not much around the area for supplies.

This was a cute family campground and I felt safe the entire time I stayed here.

This is still my favorite place to camp! The beauty and peace of the lake in the morning hour, the woods in the day, or just sitting by the campfire. This has been a family favorite.. with both of my families 😊

We’ve been exploring the state parks in OR and WA and this is my favorite so far. It’s right near the water and you can walk to little beaches, kayak off of them or go to the big swimming area/park which is lovely. Big protected swim area and there’s even a protected kayaking area that goes up the river. We found a lovely beach up there to explore. And of course plenty of space for motor boats.

Beautiful spot right next to lake. Warm sunshine made for a great getaway weekend while Seattle was socked in. Bathrooms super clean. Spacious, private campsites. Quiet! We stayed in spots 76 and 78 on D loop - BEST spots!

We love this campground.  It has something for everyone and is in a beautiful setting.  Equidistant from Portland or Seattle its a good place to meet up.  Reservations are highly recommended. *UPDATE* we have now camped here in June, October, March and April and it is wonderful all year long.

This state park is gem. We winter camped here in February and were pleasantly surprised! The sunset over the mountains was amazing and the dogs loved swimming and fetching sticks. Nice level paved spots, some drive thru even. Clean bathrooms hot showers! Only draw back is that they are token showers. You can get tokens by the adorable lakefront cabins or main entrance. We like it so much we’re staying a second night.

Stayed one night in a cabin and 2 nights in the D loop. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The campsite was spacious enough to set up a canopy and 2 tents comfortably. Bathrooms were clean and conveniently located. Swimming was great!

Very private full hook ups. Long deep sites and very private. Great lake view.

The Mayfield Lake is the main attraction. Be sure to visit the day use area across the road for lake access with swimming, picnic, and a dog park on the water.

Very good privacy for the standard campsite loop. Standard campsites are either pull through or back in.

There's a trail around the edge of the lake in campsite loop. Find the point, you wont be disappointed.

Pros: nice cabin, somewhat secluded, hidden hill on the water next to cabins, great for kayaking, bathrooms close with showers, great easy hike from cabins to the end of the peninsula, great views Cons: limited activities in the area

We stayed here as a halfway point on the way home. we didn't really use the restrooms but they seem typical state park. the setting on the lake is nice.

We absolutely love this campground. We usually reserve the 3 sites that are closest to the swimming area (no guard). Our kids love walking the trails and riding their bikes around the loops. Everyone is courteous, there are bathrooms nearby, and the campsites are semi-private.
