Loved Kanaskat Palmer. Stayed in spot 13 - each site seems to have a trail connecting to the outer trail that runs along the river. Big entertainment for three boys who explored the woods and played on the rocks and in the eddy pools at the public river take-out. Bathrooms are super nice - each is private with a shower. Camp staff were pleasant and helpful.
Beautiful spot right next to lake. Warm sunshine made for a great getaway weekend while Seattle was socked in. Bathrooms super clean. Spacious, private campsites. Quiet! We stayed in spots 76 and 78 on D loop - BEST spots!
We made a last minute reservation for a single night- lovely! All the last minute reservations are on Hwy Side, meaning RIGHT next to 410. It is an extremely busy highway with lots of motorcycles. Know that it is NOISY. But, if you can deal with that, the sites are lovely, okay on privacy, easy walk down to the river which is amazing. Toilets were clean. Host was really kind and helpful. I’m glad we went for a single night to check it out, and would only go back if I did my planning to secure a River Side reservation (would not sleep Hwy Side again). So glad we tried the highway side - worth it for a one-night getaway.
We arrived on a Thursday - only two other sites were taken. We had site 8 - highly recommend. It was REALLY windy at night, which made mosquitos not bad and the high temps feel downright pleasant. The campsites are in great condition (gravel pad, picnic table) and the water access is great for kids - rocky coastline and calm water. We caught one fish and our 9 yr old caught minnows in a lagoon. Toilet (no water) was clean and serviced daily. FILLED UP on Saturday and we took off (too much noise). The campsites have no shade, but by the water there are trees. Rocks at the water entrance are slippery - recommend some kind of water shoes or sneakers you want to get wet. Beautiful sunset and INSANE stargazing.
