Great little escape

Perfect for a weekend getaway close to town.

Great spot

I personally prefer more spaces between campsites, but this was still a great spot, even though the sites were pretty close. We stayed on a screened shelter unit, though we slept in a tent outside the unit. Easy check in process. Very clean sites. Good price and lots of spots

Beautiful sunsets

I have stayed at this campground several times. The campground is well-maintained with spacious sites. Many of the sites are wooded. Each site has a shelter with a concrete base. The sites have water and electric. The shower and toilet facilities are OK but not great. The site that I had most recently had a beautiful western view over the lake and I enjoyed several beautiful sunsets.

Simple and Easy

Me and the wife went on 06/18/2019. Right near a nice clear lake (no sand, you can swim but bring swimming shoes, sharp rocks). This seems to be primarily an RV site, it comes with an overhead canopy that provided a lot of shade, under the canopy was a wooden park bench, a sort of breakfast bar type thing attached to the canopy. Few feet away was a BBQ pit, a fire pit, a driveway for 1 single vehicle, a pipe for water, and an electrical box that had your regular RV connections as well as your regular household plug in. If you're getting a spot near the lake, be prepared for other guests with kayaks to walk through your camp to get to it. Bathrooms are provided, zero ventilation so it gets hot/cold with the weather. Showers are provided as well. The bathrooms were dirty as expected just accommodate for that. If you're walking through the camp at night bring a flashlight it's very dark. Minimal bugs during the day but once nightfall came there were TONS of junebugs. We car camped here and it was amazing.

Love Lake Georgetown

We wintered at this campground. Close to restaurants, groceries, and our family. Spent 6 months. No sewer hookups. Electricity and water, covered table, trees and privacy. We used our access card and only paid $13 per night.

Very nice for a local/regional park near the city

Great escape on the water for a weekend. Not a lot of shade, but sites are OK.

Great Location

Jim Hogg is a campsite on lake Georgetown, they don’t have a direct swim access but they do have a boat access. primitive camp sites are nice not to close to each other. The facilities are nice and well cared for.

Jim Hogg Campground + The Goodwater Trail

The Jim Hogg Campground is located on the north side of Lake Georgetown. The Goodwater Trail passes by the campground and is often used as a stopover for people hiking the 26 mile loop. The reservable developed campsites have a cover, table and a fire ring. There are RV sites as well. There is not much collectable firewood in the immediate area because most of it has already been picked up, but there is collectable firewood a half mile outside the campground down the trail. If you’re hiking around the loop you might want to collect a few logs on your way into the campground and carry them in. The campground has easy access to the lake, but I would not say that is the best location to access the lake.

Spring Break for the win!

We have camped at this park for several years during a Spring Break and other than the trash bins filling fast, have never had a problem!

We have stayed at shelter sites and regular sites and all have been nice, clean and well maintained. The bathrooms are always clean and have hot water.

its on lake Georgetown, but to get in the water, you’ll need to go to Russel Park, but it is beach-like access. There are a few picnic tables over there as well.

Nice family campground

Lots to do but nothing super spectacular about the place. Pretty typical lake campground. Some hiking available but it's primarily a lake campground.
