Amarillo KOA

Checked in at office and staff escorted us to our spot; had a pull through spot. This is a big campground, but decent enough space between units. Next to the airport but not much activity in air traffic; does not appear to be in the flight path. Bathrooms were clean and spacious; two showers for the men side. Campground is clean, no trash. Would stay here again. AT&T signal is 3 of 4 bars with 5G service.

This was our second visit to the Amarillo KOA. When we were here several years ago there wasn’t much but a dusty field. There are many improvements , including a pool and game room. The staff were extra nice. Last visit they offered a limo ride to the Big Tex Steak House, but that wasn’t available this trip.

The gal who checked us in was very friendly and nice. The site is very clean and has everything you need. The only thing that could be different is maintenance on the pool because it turned my hair blue/ green. I also saw 2 other people with blue hair. Yikes

I arrived late on a Saturday evening and they were full but the very nice young lady at check in let me squeeze my little TAXA TigerMoth into a van/tent spot. I was very tired and very happy that they could accommodate me. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The bathroom was clean. The store was well stocked. Except for an occasional jet taking off from the nearby airport it was nice and quiet. I slept great!

Pretty and quiet spot to stop for the night while traveling. It’s a small campground with nice facilities. Hot showers, clean bathrooms, pool open late.

Do NOT stay here. There are extremely loud, extremely close trains going by every 20-30 minutes all night long. The grounds are clean but the spaces are too tight and trees too close to be safe for your slide outs in the constant wind. Don’t bother

Really clean bathroom and shower facilities with hot water (which is always a plus). After hours check-in was easy breezy.

I wasn’t planning on staying for nearly a week but some unforeseen circumstances have extended my stay in Amarillo KOA for about a week now!

Super friendly staff, clean facilities, the owners care!!

I had read about the airport and road noise, but was unprepared for the 140+ dB train horns that started around 11 pm and (honestly) every 15-30 minutes thereafter until 4 am ish. There is a crossing right across the access road that was very busy on the night we stayed. Worst night of a 9 night trip. I know it is beyond their control, but they should give away ear plugs like the casinos on Freemont St in Vegas. Also, the bath house was un airconditioned and the vent fan can't move air because the main door is weatherproof. The only toilet was clogged when I went to use it, but there was already a plunger there so I could clear it before using it. I would not stay here again.

We stayed here for one night on myour journey out west. Camp staff were very friendly, sites well maintained, and facilities very clean and kept up with. Location is a little off the main road and right by the airport. So noise was a little issue. But a great place for passing through.

We stayed here this week for one night in a long cabin. We found this KOA to be well maintained and it's bathroom facilities very clean.

The RV sites have both 30amp and 50amp power. No power at the Tent sites.

It's a great place to stop when passing through the area.

Wifi didn’t work. Pool closed at 7:30. The camp was very clean with very clean bathrooms, but I wish I would’ve been able to use more of the amenities for the price.

People; great Location; good just off Hwy 40 Bathrooms; clean Showers; great, just needs air or exhaust better, gets really warm. Site; good, little to no trees or coverage which would be great being weather can be really hot. Note: extremely windy, lots of dust blowing around.

Absolutely loved our stay here. Booked it on the day of our stay on the app. Having to flee bad weather and horrible prior stay. The staff was so helpful, friendly and provided awesome recommendations in the area. Sites are nice for plains. Hook ups, wifi and cable were great. Super clean bathrooms and laundry facilities. We got a 4 night stay, even though they usually cap stays at 3 nights. Small clean dog park, and pool (not open yet). Must see Palo duro state park in the area. Only negatives: train and airport noise. Had to level rig a bit, but not bad. Even prairie dogs close to property. Which was cool to see.

We only got to stay one night here but we would totally visit again. It has pull through sights with full hookups, clean bathrooms and laundry. Everyone who works here is very polite and helpful. Definitely recommend!

There is a lot of fun artwork around the campground. They have all of the usual amenities that you’d expect from a KOA. We checked in after hours and our information was left in the after hours check in box near the door making our arrival easy. The only downside is the proximity to the airport and the railroad so you hear train horns and airplanes taking off throughout the night.

Was supposed to be overnight stay, but had a simple mechanical issue I had to deal with. So found out about 3 day max stay, never experienced that before. Local worker on staff was extremely helpful. Supervisor not so much. Nice camp store and clean campground. Ended up moving to another local park for the 3rd night.

Came over to Amarillo for the weekend to see the sights, the staff are very friendly and helpful. While the campground is close to an airport and train track, I didn't have a problem. Overall, a great base for a weekend excursion. They offer clean bathrooms and showers, a shuttle to the Big Texan steakhouse and a gift shop. WiFi is limited but cell signal is great.

Stoped here for quick overnight stay from Dallas to Albuquerque.

As of 2021 it is $30 per night for tent site. $40 if you need electrical outlet. The limit is 3 nights. They won’t let you stay a week even if they are half-occupied which is bummer as I work and can only move during weekends. Very windy. Very loud trains blowing horns every time they pass. Moderately loud airport. Clean restrooms and showers. AC cooled and heated. Each tent site has water tap.

Like most KOAs, very nice and helpful people. This location is very convenient off of I-40. The park is nice, but pretty basic in the sparse grass lands of the Texas panhandle.
Near the beautiful Palo Duro Canyon (supposedly the 2nd largest canyon in the USA). Would stay here again.

About three miles from I 40. Very clean, friendly staff. Sites are large and even. Pool, playground and games available. Clean showers and bathrooms.

We stayed one night. We would stay here again. It is off the interstate just far enough to be a quiet location. I wouldn't let the comments of it being "hard to find" cause you to avoid it. Get off the interstate go north about 2 miles, then east about 1/2 mile. There is a big KOA sign on the right.

I only spent one night at this campground but could tell that it is a great spot. It’s a little bit hard to find but once you do it is an oasis. Everything is kept up to date and clean and the Wi-Fi was one of the fastest that I’ve encountered. I highly recommend this KOA for anyone passing through or as an extended stay.

Very clean and convenient. We were able to call after the online reservations were closed to get a tent spot. They had an overnight reservation box with everything we needed since we arrived after office hours. Made the process super easy.

Stayed here because we were traveling through and it was nice and served its purpose but the pull through sites are super close together. Our picnic table was 3 ft from the rig next to us. If you are looking for privacy, this is not your place. If you are looking for a safe and friendly place to spend the night, I’d give this a go.

Full hook up. Clean. Good place to stay if you want all hookups. Friendly staff.
