Equestrian camping opportunities near Seagoville, Texas are limited, with none of the local campgrounds featuring dedicated horse corrals in their amenity listings. Cedar Hill State Park Campground and Loyd Park offer potential options for horse enthusiasts seeking accommodations in the region. Both parks provide spacious campsites that may accommodate horse trailers, though specific equestrian facilities are not prominently listed. The parks maintain multiple accommodation types including tent sites, RV hookups, and cabins for visitors traveling with horses. Trail systems within these parks could potentially allow for horseback riding, though visitors should contact park management directly to confirm current equine policies.

The surrounding area provides access to bridle trails within a reasonable driving distance. While neither Cedar Hill State Park nor Loyd Park explicitly advertise horse-friendly trails in the provided data, both maintain extensive trail networks that may be suitable for riding. Equestrians planning camping trips should call ahead to verify horse policies, including any requirements for Coggins tests, manure management protocols, and designated areas for horses. Trailer parking availability and specifications should be confirmed before arrival. Some campsites at these parks feature water hookups that could serve both camper and equine needs during stays. The parks remain open year-round, allowing for seasonal riding opportunities throughout different weather conditions.

      Brockdale Park

      Not a campsite

Equestrian trail and boat launch. This is big parking lot for a boat launch on Lake Lavon and a large Equestrian trail. No camping sites but we have done a picnic here. It’s a few minutes from our home.

      Great for something close by

Nothing to knock you socks off, but it’s a great campsite close to home and nice for a quick getaway. Has the feel of being somewhat remote since it’s out by the lake.

We’ve camped in the site with the horse stables and put the tents with questionable rain flys in the horse stable.

      East Fork Park Campground

      Not a favorite

I found this park to be maintained poorly. The sites are close together with little shade and are all in a big, level circle with limited to no view of the lake itself. When we were there the grass was at least a foot high, creating no play space for the kids in the ample open areas.  There is an area with equestrian sites. Overall, it seems more of a day-use, non-appealing area.

      Cedar Hill State Park Campground

One of my least favorite Texas State Parks To DAte

St Patrick’s Day 2018 we head out to Cedar Hill State Park on the banks of Joe Pool Lake. Cedar Hill State Park is one big Texas State Park! With over 300 campsites you are sure to find one to your liking! A visit to the historical Penn Farm, heavy spring rains and lots of paved roads for scooting make this visit to Cedar Hill State Park a truly unique Texas State Park Visit for the Dude RV crew!

There are 5 camping loops in this park! If you are wanting a lakeside campsite there are many options. The 3 loops on the north end of the park are close to the very busy road so there is road noise all the time.

The Penn FArm exhibit is very cool for the whole family and is ADA compliant but a bit on the rough side for handicap scooters.

The day use area was in need of some work on my visit but I think the day use area has since been rebuilt.

You can see the several videos of my visit on my YouTube...DudeRV

      American RV Park

This is a city RV Park

This is mainly a city RV/camper campsite that sits right on the outskirts of the town of Corsicana. Very close to Navarro College. So if you wanted to visit the college or the town of Corsicana this would be a great RV site. No views of anything except the highway. Not a vacation site, more of a need to stop for awhile site.

      Cedar Hill State Park Campground

      Swimming hole close to Dallas

Cedar Hill State Park, Cedar Hill, TX Site# 42

Cedar Hill State Park is only 10 miles southwest of Dallas, but its topography will remind you of the Texas Hill Country. The park is situated on the shores of Joe Pool Lake and it features 30 primitive hike-in camp sites, over 300 wooded modern sites, and more than 1,200 acres of mountain bike terrain. The park also offers multiple boat ramps, kayak rentals, and a swimming beach.

      East Fork Park Campground

      East Fork state park

The Good, level, spacious campsites with an awning over the picnic table. Great lay out for campsites. The Lake Lavon was beautiful. The not so good, the restrooms were old and not well kept up. They were not heated which probably doesn't matter most of the time in Texas but when we were there it was 20 degrees. Secondly there is dog poop everywhere, it seems that every time I stepped off of the pavement I had to clean dog crap out of my shoes.

      Waxahachie Creek Park

      Close to Nature

I wish I could rate this campground higher because it was so peaceful with quite a bit of bushy vegetation to provide a small measure of privacy between sites. This is as close to nature as one can get in a campground!  There was poison ivy on the trees next to us and in the mowed ground around the campsite.  There were so many butterflies, flies, and other flying insects on the sunny side of our RV that it made entering and exiting through the sliding door very difficult. And, the ANTS! After one night in our site, the ants had formed an active trail to the top of our RV. Consequently, we had ants inside the RV!

The roads inside the campground need to be repaved.

The camp host and the park ranger were both very friendly and informative.

      Cedar Hill State Park Campground

      Modern and quiet

Campsites are modern and very well shaded. They offer water access, electricity, are near facilities, have tables and fire pits. Many of the sites overlook the lake or have easy access to the lake. The area is unique because it is within minutes from Dallas but offers the quiet and solitude that an area farther away from a major city would provide. The trails in this area are fantastic, great for mountain biking, trail running, hiking with small children, etc… It does get relatively dry and hot during the summer, and despite the abundance of trees the trails remain relatively exposed to the sun. There are swimming areas available. If you forget something you have easy and relatively quick access to shopping.

This was our first camping trip as a family, we have learned a lot about camping since staying at this park a few years ago. We do regularly visit but don't camp here often.

    Guide to Seagoville

Equestrian camping near Seagoville, Texas offers access to several lake-oriented parks with varying amenities for horse enthusiasts. Located in the Trinity River Basin at an elevation of approximately 450 feet, this area experiences hot summers with temperatures regularly exceeding 95°F and mild winters. Most campgrounds feature water and electric hookups at sites, though dedicated equestrian facilities require advance verification.

    What to do

Fishing and boating: Lavonia Park on Lavon Lake provides numerous fishing spots with wide-spaced sites. "Wide open spaces and beautiful lake views. The sites are far apart and lots of green space," reports Jess W. The park features multiple fishing platforms, though some are in disrepair.

Hiking trails: Trail networks extend through several parks, offering various difficulty levels for day hikes. At Loyd Park, campers can access "great bike trails" according to Cactus A., who adds "each site is pretty secluded from each other" making it ideal for groups wanting privacy between activities.

Lake swimming: Swimming areas are available at multiple parks, providing relief during hot Texas summers. "Great times! We spent three days there swimming and hiking around," notes Myc C. about Loyd Park. Water quality varies by season, with most swimming areas open from April through October.

    What campers like

Spacious sites: East Fork Park Campground offers well-distributed campsites with substantial distance between neighbors. "The sites are well spaced and are 'mostly' paved with aging asphalt," notes Ray & Terri F., adding that "this is a good value, and one of the few non-RV park options in the greater Dallas area."

Wildlife viewing: Natural areas around the campgrounds support diverse wildlife observation opportunities. "Great views of the water and wildflowers in the meadows," reports Melanie and Doug G. about East Fork Park. Morning and evening hours typically offer the best wildlife viewing conditions.

Lake views: High View campground provides elevated sites with panoramic lake vistas. "We stayed in campsite 29 which is kind of elevated a bit and we had a great view of the lake," shares Derrick A., who appreciated the peaceful setting and security provided by regular patrols.

    What you should know

Gate restrictions: Several parks lock entrance gates during overnight hours, affecting late arrivals. "Gates lock at 10 pm. We couldn't get in," reports Reagan K. about Highview Park. Call ahead to confirm gate policies when planning arrivals after dark.

Insect considerations: Fire ants and other insects can be problematic, particularly during warmer months. "Nice lake but there were fire ants and chiggers all over our campsite!" notes Jill C. about Cedar Hill State Park. Bringing appropriate insect repellent and checking sites before setup is recommended.

Road conditions: Many campground access roads show signs of aging and may present challenges. "The roads are in need of repair, with numerous potholes, some very large," mentions Ray & Terri F. Large rigs should proceed with caution on these routes.

    Tips for camping with families

Beach access: Several parks feature designated swimming areas with beach access for children. "We spent three days there swimming and hiking around. Great times!" shares Myc C. about Loyd Park, which maintains a designated beach area separate from boat traffic.

Playground availability: Cedar Hill State Park Campground offers family-oriented recreation areas. "Good representation of Texas wildlife and a good spot for family camping," notes Brody R., though he cautions it can get busy during peak seasons.

Site selection for privacy: Request sites in loops with fewer neighbors for family camping. "The park is designed with small loops for 15-20 camp sites in each loop. Very little traffic right by the individual spots," explains Michael C. about Cedar Hill State Park, highlighting the benefits of its layout for families.

    Tips from RVers

Pad conditions: RV parking pads vary significantly in quality and levelness across parks. "The pad has definitely broken up over time and isn't level. The fire pit is also sitting at an angle," reports Melanie and Doug G. about their East Fork Park experience. Bringing extra leveling blocks is advisable.

Security features: Northside RV Resort provides enhanced security measures appreciated by travelers. "The park is gated and secure. Each shower has its own toilet and vanity behind a lockable door," notes Angela R., who stayed during November. The gated entrance requires a code for access.

Hookup placement: Water and electric connections may be located inconveniently at some sites. "I backed in and used my extension power cord because the box was located midway from the rear," explains Gary W. about East Fork Park, recommending extension cords and water hoses for flexible setup options.
