Best Campgrounds near Alice, TX

Campgrounds near Alice, Texas provide a range of options primarily focused on developed sites with RV accommodations. Lake Corpus Christi State Park, approximately 30 miles northeast of Alice, offers the most diverse camping options with tent sites, RV hookups, and cabin rentals along the shoreline. Paisano RV & Mobile Home Park provides sites within Alice city limits, while several smaller RV parks like EZ Living and 281/242 RV Park are scattered throughout the surrounding area. Most established campgrounds in the region cater to both short-term visitors and long-term residents, with varying levels of amenities across properties.

The South Texas climate significantly impacts camping conditions, with hot summers where temperatures regularly exceed 90°F from May through September. Winter months offer milder conditions, making fall through spring the preferred camping seasons. Most campgrounds in the area require reservations, particularly during holiday weekends and fishing tournament dates. Water levels at Lake Corpus Christi can fluctuate dramatically depending on rainfall, occasionally affecting boat ramps and water access. Campers should prepare for limited shade at many sites and potential for strong winds, especially near the lake. According to one visitor, "Lake Corpus Christie is a beautiful place where you can camp and enjoy water activities but if you enjoy hiking this is not the place. Unfortunately, it lacks hiking trails."

Waterfront camping represents the primary draw for visitors to the region, with Lake Corpus Christi State Park receiving consistently positive reviews for its water access and fishing opportunities. The park features spacious campsites with concrete pads, picnic tables, and proximity to restrooms and showers. Several campgrounds offer boat ramps and fishing piers, making the area popular with anglers. RV parks in the region typically provide full hookups, though amenities and site spacing vary considerably between properties. Visitors note that while the region lacks extensive hiking trails, the lake and bay areas provide ample opportunities for water recreation. Wildlife viewing, particularly birds and turtles, represents another popular activity, with one camper mentioning they "saw turtles near it in the lake" at Lake Corpus Christi State Park.

Lake Corpus Christi State Park Campground

    Nice and cheap

Only $25 for full hookups, $15 for just water and electric, $10 for tents, $5 day fee. Lots of shade, lots of room in the FCU sites. Water is really low so no boat access, still beaches though. Surprisingly nice place.

    Firefly Coastal Bend- Corpus Christi

    Visiting Family

This was the perfect place to stay in proximity of our son's house. Nice, clean campground with bay views , great sunrise and sunset. The only negative is you have to prepay your stay 10 in advance . Not sure what the refund policy is in case of an emergency. Other than that it was awesome 👍

    Mustang Hollow Campground

    Campground needs TLC

Fine place to stop on the way through and very friendly staff. There is a petting zoo with miniature donkeys and horses, goats and emus! This was a wonderful treat feeding the critters. Sites are small, dirt and uneven. Pictures show a playground, dog park, etc., however, none of these things exist. It looks like they did at one point, but not in the last decade. No atvs or activities listed on website which was frustrating for the kids. Lake was entirely dry—of course no fault of the campground, but didn’t allow for fishing, etc. There were plenty of sites available but we were placed right by the train tracks and main highway. I do understand why, though, because there are quite a few permanent folks toward the back of the park.

    Firefly Coastal Bend- Corpus Christi

The people at Firefly are CROOKS!

Good day- My name is John and my wife and I live in Dana, North Carolina... Just south of Asheville. Back in May, I had booked two(2) RV spots(one for us and one for dear friends coming in from California). I booked for a week, running from 5- 12 October, at a total(pre-paid) cost of$1,433. However, on Friday, 27 September(8 days before our trip), our region experienced Hurricane Helene. One hundred and twenty feet of our driveway was wiped out- totally washed away. The main road to our home was also washed away. Roads in and out of the area were destroyed and there were thousands of downed trees and power poles. The destruction was and remains hard to convey. We lost power and all communications for 13 days. We had no way in or out of our property for over a week. On Monday, 30 September, I was able to hike out to our local post office where I found I had one bar on my phone. I called family and friends, including the other couple that we were supposed to meet At the Firefly RV Resort. I explained the situation to them and asked them to call Firefly, cancel the reservation and,(given the circumstances) ask for a refund. The staff at Firefly were beyond rude and refused any consideration of a refund. When pressed on the matter by our friends, and stressing the dire conditions that all of North Carolina was facing, the Manager at Firefly told our friends the following-- and this is a direct quote:"Well, if the government would stop sending money to Ukraine, maybe they would have money to give to North Carolina." Enough said. I would strongly ask all conscientious RV-ers to BOYCOTT the Firefly RV Resort.
